I came here for a regular mani/pedi bc the spot I normally go to was booked. It was nice that they stay open late for their customers, and upon walking in, they're pretty friendly. That friendly tone changes if you share any preferences for how you want your nails done--even something as basic as filing down the pointed almond shape of my toenails. Why would you make them pointy in the first place?? These are toenails, not finger nails. Not only do they immediately start talking shi*, the service just gets exponentially worse from there. Like getting cuts and sloppy paint jobs. They didn't know I understood what they were saying -- but let me tell you -- these people talk mad shit about their clients. And this includes people who are just getting regular mani/pedis bc it's not one of their more expensive offerings. After giving the technician an 18% tip, she proceeded to talk loudly to her colleagues about how small that tip was (again not knowing I understood). How do you expect a customer to give you more when you've been trash talking them to their face the whole time AND the job was subpar?!? I popped in randomly yesterday afternoon for a quick pedicure and upon walking and I was told it would be about a 10 minute wait, which was pretty accurate. They have a huge selection of colors and some colors are duplicates due to their popularity. The space was bright and clean and occupied with plenty of women of all ages getting pampered. I decided to go with two colors instead of one for my fall festiveness. The technician who took me, Lisa was nice and professional, and was transparent when she told me that the massage would be at an extra cost, which I decided to reject. For $26 you get the bare minimum of a pedicure, but the massage chairs work and they are strong and they do a thorough job. I even got an abbreviated shoulder massage while I was sitting and drying my nails before leaving. This location is in a high-volume foot traffic spot and has been a neighborhood staple for several years so it is more than trustworthy. I'd come back for sure! read more

I am very disappointed with this place. I've been there twice and both experiences were bad. The first time, my husband and I got a pedicure and they overcharged us. We didn't complain thinking it was a mistake. Three days ago, I gave them another chance and it was worse. I went in for an acrylic fill-in and the tech insisted on replacing the whole set. She glued plastic tips with gel on my nails--something I've never seen in 18 years of getting my nails done. No acrylic or builder gel, just plastic and polish. Now my nails are weak and deformed. When I returned to complain, they said I had to pay $30 more to fix it. I already paid $65 plus $10 tip. They also promised the owner would call me, but never did. I will never go back and do not recommend this place to anyone. Completely unprofessional. read more

First time customer- Spa pedicure $43 Then was told the foot massage was 15 minutes and was asked if I wanted to add 5 minutes to do 10 minutes on each foot. I did not. I got a SNS powder manicure, I let Winnie know I would prefer not to use the electric file, but she insisted. I explained my nail bed are thin and I bleed. She called over the manager who I said please just buff down with a regular filer. But they both said it couldn't be done. So she began the electric filer and I was bleeding and now I'm in pain all night from the pressure of it. $40 Came to $83 and then was charged+ $7.50 for using a credit card. One of the women scraped my husband's heels with a cheese grater so aggressively that he had to see a podiatrist. He was still in pain a month later. But I figured we would try it again. This was truly the worst pedicure I ever had. I told the woman three times to cut my toenails shorter and somehow she wasn't able to do it. Unlike the first time we were there, this woman did no foot or leg massage like every other Mani Pedi place in Bay Ridge. The woman who was doing my pedicure, seemed less than interested and obviously couldn't wait to get it done fast enough. From start to finish the entire pedicure took 20 minutes. Then when I was done, she put me in the front under the toenail dryer and started to massage my neck. Horrible and painful! I asked her to stop because if she continued to massage it over and over and over in the same spot, I would get nothing but chafed. Two strikes and they're out! Excellent customer service, quick walk-in accommodations with minimal wait time (or you can set an appointment), lovely manager and friendly staff at Angel City. I usually get a manicure and pedicure (and I asked for the spa treatment that they offer that includes luxurious scented lotions and a 30 minute massage). As a woman with natural long nails, I would highly recommend getting a gel manicure because your nail polish will not chip as easily and will last for over a month, so it's worth it! Had a semi-great first experience there. I got a gel manicure and a spa pedicure done here with their grand opening discount applied to my total. The gel manicure is usually $25. The regular process plus a little extra massage for you, sweet. The spa pedicure is usually $35 with a 10 minute massage depending on which treatment you are getting. Although the service wasn't up to my expectations, I still think that they did a good job. I was feeling extra tired and the massages were just not hitting me in the right spots. In fairness, they are a manicurist/pedicurist and not a masseuse. I expected the lady that was working on me to be a little more outgoing and personable. I didn't want a full-on conversation but she totally killed my vibe. In a way, she was annoying me because she had a bad vibe and I didn't feel welcomed by her. However, all the other staff was great and the lady working on my friend was great as well. I like the concept of this place, how they put customers first. The ambience and variety at this place will have me coming back for more. Maybe I will just request to not have the same lady, thanks. My lady also did not turn my massage chair on, I had to do it myself. She did not offer any water or beverage as I watch the other customers drink theirs. This is my second time here. The first visit wasn't anything memorable but the second was upsetting enough for me to need to share a review. I slept on it to see if I would still feel the same in the morning and I do. I had the most unpleasant nail technician who seemed at every corner to try to upsell me which I seriously do not appreciate. I asked for an almond shape and was told that would be extra. How ridiculous is that? I asked if I should get gel or dip powder and if there was any difference in the two and she replied "no difference". Meanwhile I overheard a nail technician two women down explaining that dip powder is better for the nails and lasts longer. And guess what, gel is $20 more at this salon and I found that fun fact out as I was checking out. So I paid more for something that won't last as long -- GREAT. All that would be FINE if only I liked my nails. The women asked the length and as I'm literally making up my mind she cut the first one so short I was speechless. What could I say? I couldn't go back. She already made the move without my okay. Same with the color. I was unsure between two colors and she just moved on without pausing to ask for one second if I approved the choice. When I tried to pull my finger back to see she told me to relax my hand. I wish I could stop there but there was so much I hated about my $85 dollar manicure/pedicure. She didn't clean my cuticles, I had to get home and do them myself, there were air bubbles in my pedicure and the nails were so wide, short, unfiled from the bottom and fat I feel ugly just having this manicure. I would rather rip my nails off them have them another day. I went as far as to order a sally hansen gel remover kit on Amazon so I get get rid of this myself. Never go to this salon. There are so many nail spas in Bay Ridge, I chose this place initially because it looked clean and the reviews were good. They sanitize you at the door, the bottom of your shoes, your hands, etc! Which I loved but it wasn't that clean once I got inside. They didn't sanitize the nail dryers, two luxury pedicures and two manicures cost me over $150! My pedicure chair was broken and so I didn't get the back massage. It's been less than a week and my gel polish is already chipping. Vicky did an amazing job with my parafin manicure! She also did a fantastic job on my 30 min massage. As a new mom who is working full time my back aches but she took effort to get knots out and to make me feel better. Thanks Vicky for making me feel so much better! I got this gift certificate from my husband for Xmas and finally got to enjoy a much needed massage. Tip: Angel City gets very busy. They wanted me to get my massage while I had paraffin on my hands and the other lady(not my wonderful manicurist Vicky) showed frustration that I wanted to enjoy my massage after the parrafin. I have been to many nail salons in my life and this is by far the worst of them all. I have given them many chances and they always fail at everything. They don't do a great job on my nails or my pedicure, but most of all, they are extremely rude. The first time I went they were looking at my nails and talking with one another and when I asked repeatedly what was wrong, they ignored me and gave me a dirty look. When I was about to leave, they acted phony and pretended that nothing happened. The second time that I was stupid enough to go back, I had made an appointment and still waited s long time and when the rude woman finally took me, I let her know that I was in a rush and after only a few minutes of working on my nails, she had an issue with her brush and kept trying to fix it for at least 15 minutes. I asked her to please use a different brush because I had to go but she ignored me. I've had other weird experiences there, but I'd be writing a book if I wrote them all here. Needless to say, this is an awful nail salon full of rude people with absolutely no personalities or regard for their costumers. I wish I hadn't wasted a minute of my time there or a cent of my money. I will never ever return and I will advise everyone I can not to step a foot in there, either. Strolled in here one Sunday afternoon when decided that I should treat myself. I've been eyeing this color on Pinterest for some time but couldn't find the name of the polish. Trying to find the color from their wide range and updated polish colors was taking me some time. The nice and helpful lady that was going to do my nails asked if I needed help. This place has become a disaster area. My wife and I have been here several times before. For Christmas, our son gave us gift certificates for pedicures. The certificates were dated 12/19/20 and they stated that they were valid for 6 months. We went on 7/14/21 and wanted to show the owner before we sat down that we were going to use the certificates. We figured that since they were closed during the COVID restrictions and that they were outdated by less than a month, there would be no problem. The owner made a brushing motion and said "yeah-yeah". My wife went first, and while she was getting her pedicure, I could tell by the look on her face that she was not happy with the way it was being done. During my pedicure, it became one of the most painful experiences that I have ever had. I even motioned to the tech to ease up a little. She managed to cut the skin next to my toenail on both of my big toes to the point that they both started to bleed. She put some drops on to stop the bleeding. When leaving, the owner now started to make an issue over the gift certificates. I don't understand their language, but after arguing with the tech, she begrudgingly took the certificates. We gave the tech her tips and left. The problem is that the money she received for the gift certificates was spent by her a long time ago and now her attitude was that the pedicures were being done and she was not going to get any more money. read more

Tucked away in the quiet parts of Bay Ridge is this secret gem! Complete with small drinks and snacks as well as genuine hospitality; Angel city has it all. The ambiance was very soothing and interior design reminded me of the Roman baths. I got a regular mani ($8 Essie costs $1 more) and regular pedi ($18) which totaled $27. My technician was Jenny. She was great in making sure I was comfortable and did a great job on my toes. However, for my hands there were air bubbles on my 4 of my nails for one hand hence the 4 stars instead of the 5. Today, my nail tech (I believe her name was Vicky) tried to charge me $40 for a acrylic fill in....that's more than a full set. I immediately asked them if their prices had changed bc I had never paid that much for anything there. The woman was told she was wrong and the price went down to $33+2 suddenly. Still felt like a lot.. but I paid anyways because I just wanted to leave. As my nails were drying, I checked their website and it said $28 for acrylic fill in and $33 for a full set. I told them they charged me incorrectly and suddenly it was "those prices are years old"..? I've come here since high school, and I every time I've come, including a few weeks ago, they've only ever been $28. Only recently did the prices seem to start fluctuating depending on who's doing your nails. Either go over your prices with your techs, or stop trying to overcharge people/update your website. The nails always come out so nice, but the service/how they treat you is just not worth it anymore. I've given this place so many chances but there's for sure other nail salons that are better. They also tried to charge me $3.50 extra for using an Amex as payment- which is illegal, BTW. Wow! Wonderful spot that I am so glad I found! Awesome and clean nail salon which after your service you receive a strong shoulder massage, I was in massage heaven! I had to get an additional 10 mins for $10. For $18 you receive a really good pedicure! I felt that she slightly rushed it, but for the price the shoulder massage made up for it as my toes were drying. This place is brand new and has only been open for around a month. It truly felt like an upscale spa, all of the little details were perfect including gummy bears and little candies that you can get out of a bowl on your way out. This place was seriously immaculately clean! During your pedicure the bowl is lined with a plastic wrapping, which they change after each customer. In the basic pedicure for $18 you also receive a paraffin wax treatment on the bottom of your feet at the end of our pedicure. Lily was amazing and gave a really strong chair massage!
