We spent a significant amount of time looking for a company that would refinish our floors. After meeting Roxana, I had no doubt they were the right company. She came out several times to help us decide on exactly what work we needed to do. We opted to refinish the older part of our main floor and buff & coat the newer part. The crew arrived exactly on time and immediately went to work. When we returned to the house 5 days later we were amazed at how great the refinished floor looked. The area we buffed & recoated, however, was underwhelming. We immediately noticed a few new very minor scratches so we texted Tony and Roxana. We caught Tony at a bad time; that along with a language barrier resulted in a very sharp response from Tony. Long story short, they did not offer to come out and look at the scratches and said there was nothing that could be done. In a followup conversation, Roxana reminded me that the buff & coat service was not warrantied (which I was fully aware of). In my opinion, noticing the difference in how the two areas appeared, I wish Tony or Roxana would have called and said "you know, this isn't matching up right, we should refinish everything." I wouldn't have hesitated to do the additional work. Preparing for this was like preparing to move. Roxana then graciously offered me a partial refund on the buff and coat. Fast forward 5 months and I we've decided to bite the bullet to get that part of the main floor refinished. Despite the misunderstanding, I contacted Roxana and she declined to take the additional work. We've now had a few more contractors come out for estimates. Painful process to have to do twice in one year. read more

I've had Angel do two large jobs for me. First was refinishing existing hardwood floors in two levels of my house... sanding, staining and 3 finishing coats... result was beautiful. The second was new engineered oak over concrete slab (with existing very old tile)... lots of weird angles, nooks and crannies and they again performed beautifully with an amazing outcome. We recently had our floors (white oak) excellently refinished by Angel Floors and recommend this family business with great enthusiasm. Communication was great from the start, and clear and transparent throughout. Working with Roxana and Tony made this big and stressful project as easy as it could be, and the results are exactly what we hoped for. The work was done exactly on schedule, exactly as promised, and at the price agreed. When a new item came up that needed to be added to the job in the middle of the work (replacing a 8' threshold to match new finish) this was added promptly and at a very fair price. Workmanship and attention to detail was great throughout, and crew members were helpful and attentive. Our 70+ year old floors are rejuvenated, and the newly installed shoe molding matches ideally. THE ESTIMATE: I obtained 3 quotes to remove ceramic tile (and layers beneath down to sub floor) in my kitchen and install new oak hardwoods to try to match as closely as possible to the existing oak floors throughout the rest of the house. Angel's price was reasonable (not the most nor least expensive of the three). Roxana was very clear about the breakdown of costs, potential areas where costs could run higher depending on what was below the tile, and estimated maximums if the additional work had to be done. One other contractor just assumed that all the worst case scenarios would occur and obviously built in the additional costs and would charge me for them regardless. I really liked that Angel broke these out so I knew what they were and could decide how much additional risk I was willing to take of cost overrun. Moreover, I strongly preferred that they weren't charging me unless those worst case scenarios came to pass. My job was complicated by the fact that I was not removing my cabinets, so they were going to need to cut and install around them without damaging them. They were really good about explaining the impact this would likely have on the kick plates and the possible costs if they had to replace those. They were also the clearest about explaining that the new floors would come close, but not precisely match the old floors. They are a small family business that doesn't use subs and you can tell they get a lot of calls. So, although Roxana is good about responding, it might take a day or two. If you encounter a delay at all, I really encourage you to be patient. It will be worth the extra day or so to hear back. The difference in the level of detail Roxana provided to my questions was notable from others. She was so patient and thorough in answering my questions. THE WORK: They were as fantastic about the work as they were about estimating and explaining everything. They delivered the wood a week in advance so it could acclimate. They hung plastic to keep the dust and debris contained to the kitchen as much as possible. They placed cardboard all around the cabinets to protect them. They completed the job exactly in the estimated timeframe (even slightly ahead) and kept me informed along the way as I was out of town while they worked. The results were really beautiful. The workmanship is top notch. I am a stickler for perfection and rarely say something is perfect -- this is! The quality is amazing! The floors are perfectly level with the surrounding floors and the stain is a really close match. They had asked if I wanted to be present to approve the stain color, but I trusted Tony's experienced eye to decide when he found a good match. I later learned that Tony tried 4 different stains before settling on the final choice. Seriously, how many contractors would be that meticulous? Also, because the old floors were higher and they had to cut around the cabinets, after installing the new floors it was evident that molding would do a better job than kick plates and quarter round at covering the imperfections around the cabinets. So they installed new baseboard molding to match the existing molding throughout my house. Moreover, they installed it everywhere -- not just where the new floors were (e.g., even on the back side of the peninsula which runs between the dining room and kitchen) -- so that everything would match and there wouldn't be kick plates in some areas and baseboard in others. I could go on and on about their attention to detail -- but I think you get the point. In sum, the crew was really meticulous and the results are beautiful. MORE ABOUT THE COMPANY: The other thing worth mentioning is that you can tell that Roxana and Tony, in addition to knowing their business really well, are good, honest hardworking people. I asked Tony about how to revive my old floors (which of course now looked dull as compared to the new one). Most contractors would use that as an opportunity to sell you something you don't need. Instead, Tony suggested a product I could buy at the store and use on my own. When I asked him about whether to buff them (which would have been his chance to sell me his buffing services!), he said they didn't need buffing yet and I could wait a few years. He also warned me what products not to use (some products cause a wax buildup and later necessitate a total re-sanding to remove the product). I used the product Tony suggested and he was totally right. The surrounding floors look really nice. You can bet I will call Tony when my floors need buffing eventually. I also obtained an estimate to refinish the floors on the second floor of my house, which badly need it. I couldn't afford both projects at once, but I fully intend to use Angel when I'm ready. I heard from neighbors that this company was the best and I now know for myself. read more

Angel Floors did a job that was way beyond exceptional. The previous floor company had screwed things up incredibly so Tony was inheriting a difficult job. The sanding and prep that Angel did was exceptional and they were incredibly careful with everything they did. There was initially a sheen issue due to the fact that we were trying to match up with adjacent rooms that were refinished several years before but Tony was incredibly patient in working to get the floors just right. I used Angel Floors to refinish the hardwood floors in my brick colonial house in DC. I was in a difficult situation because I was in California and needed to find a good flooring company from afar. Since I had tenants in the house, I knew I would not be able to have a lot of flooring companies at the house for estimates. I called two flooring companies that had great Yelp reviews and they never returned my calls. I also called another company and got a very rude person who refused to tell me how much per square foot they charged and when I asked how many jobs they did at the same time told me it was none of my business. I called Angel Floors and was very happy that they were willing to tell me up front how much they charged per square foot (other companies said they couldn't give me this info and needed to see the floors to give even a ballpark estimate). Roxanna of Angel Floors was very professional and was willing to answer all my questions via email, another big plus since trying to call companies with the three hour time difference is challenging and I like things in writing. It suggests to me that the company is more honest since they are willing to put things in writing. Angel Floors did need to go to my home to give me a firm estimate, but that was after they had answered all my questions and given me a ballpark estimate so I was satisfied that I would be happy to hire them. They refinished the first floor and did a buff and coat, aka screen and coat, of the second floor, a procedure that is a lot less expensive than refinishing that you can do when the floors are still in pretty good condition. The total cost was a little less than $3,000 for about 2600 square feet of wood floors and stairs and the floors look great! I was there when they started so I could see that they actually sanded the first floor. Some companies won't tell you about screening and coating because they can charge more for refinishing and if you aren't there, they might do a screen and coat but charge you for refinishing. Can be hard for the uninformed consumer to tell the difference. I would definitely hire Angel Floors again. Very trustworthy, honest folks. It is a small family business so their employees have been with them for years. They were quick to provide with receipts for every payment. Excellent company. read more

Angel Floors was terrific. Roxana answered all my questions during the estimate process and the communication was great throughout. They refinished all the 1960's-era red oak in our Bethesda home and ripped out a linoleum floor to extend hardwood into the kitchen. They weren't cheap, but they were less than one of three bids I got from highly reviewed companies and the same as another. I forgot to disconnect our kitchen appliances as the contract required, and they did it without charging me. They blended the hardwood from the kitchen to the dining area so seamlessly that it's impossible to tell it wasn't the same floor. The sanding and staining job was impeccable -- the floors are super smooth, and there was almost no dust. They carefully taped and covered everything that needed covering. They put down four stain samples so we could make an informed choice and we were really happy with the coffee brown color we chose. Having once cheaped out on a hardwood refinishing job and lived with the awful results for years, I can say wholeheartedly that Angel Floors is worth every penny. read more

Do not hesitate for even a single second to hire Angel Floors for any hardwood floor repair or installation. From the estimate all the way to the finished product, they were exceptional. The crew was kind, respectful, and careful. They completely taped off the rest of our home to prevent any dust damage, arrived on time or early, and the finished product is gorgeous. I cannot say enough glowing things. The first contractor gave us a sky-high estimate, the second never even got back to us...so I feel lucky that the first two contractors were out of the running as we ended up with the best! Roxana even warned us that we might not have an exact match to our 50 year old hardwood floors, but you seriously cannot tell the difference from the old floor and where the repair is done. They also buffed and sealed our kitchen floor and it looks like we just installed new hardwoods.
