I love the family cafe feel of Angela's. This is an easy "everything is good" for breakfast/brunch spot that never disappoints! Be prepared for a large generous portion of whatever you order, and that's not a joke. The juice bar is my new best friend! They don't use organic fruits and veggies (neither does Whole Foods) but that's a trade for proximity and efficiency for me. It's pretty well nestled in my 3 mile bubble. I stop by 3-4 times a week for a custom-made juice, and it hits all the marks for me: variety of fruits & veggies, good price ($6), great product and fast service. When I dine in with my family, I love the old fashioned 2 eggs, bacon & hash browns and it comes with toast or biscuits. My husband will get the same as me (usually) and the pancakes are great for my little one! I have never had lunch here because I'm a breakfast kinda girl, but I bet lunch is good too. The restaurant is pretty big and there are a lot of tables, so even on a busy Saturday morning there is plenty of seating. Why only 4 stars instead of 5 you ask? However, we believe there was 2-3 teenagers at the front desk that were sitting there doing nothing, being loud and obnoxious while servers and hostess were running around. No complaints at all about the food or the service, which were fine, but when we walked in there was a horrible stench. I asked the server if it was a dirty grease trap or the sewer system and she told me it was the sewer pipes. When I complained to the manager, she confirmed to me it was sewer issues. I can't pretend it's OK to eat in those conditions. It's disgusting, yet the place was packed and people didn't seem to mind. Meanwhile, the wife and I were about to throw up. And we still had to flag someone down for waters to start. One other girl ordered the same plate as mine except but our plates were swapped. I had ordered my eggs over medium and the hashbrowns extra crispy and she wanted her eggs over easy. Also she ordered chocolate chip pancakes with no whipped cream and she was disappointed to find her pancakes TOPPED with chocolate chips and a large dollop of whipped cream on top. Would only return here bc it's close to work and limited options open on the weekends at 7am after a night shift. (Not that this review will make or break 'em, LOL, just felt like we should show our loyalty by saying to the world; "Hey! This is a really good thing! You oughtta try it!") In a nutshell, this is a perfect example of one of the nicest things a neighborhood could have...a non-franchised, family-owned restaurant with good food and an accommodating long-term staff to serve it, all at a reasonable price. The food here ranges from good to outstanding. Had tortilla soup for a starter and absolutely loved it. The tamales were good but nothing special. On another occasion, I had the chicken strip salad. The chicken strips were very good, but the salad was average at best. The tomatoes weren't ripe and had no flavor. So after paying $12 for my very simple breakfast I opened my container and found the broken egg yolk and NO HASHBROWNS.. Will never order from here agin. I thought they served breakfast all day which is how I ended up here at 3 pm but it turns out that's not the case. Although I was a bit disappointed by that, I stuck it out and ordered some chicken Monterey off the lunch specials list. It was a no-frills meal but it hit the spot. The fried okra was fresh and the green beans were great. The chicken Monterey wasn't like other versions I've had in the past. It was just grilled chicken with a tomato sauce and cheese on top but it was also very good. It was very spicy so be careful! The service was great as well. This is my go-to diner down the street from me. I go there with my family pretty frequently. I have to say, first of all, I am usually no regular at any restaurant since I like to try different ones pretty regularly. We are repeat customers here because the food is always delish, and the place is always inviting. And on another note, it's super cheap for what it is. There is nothing like some good ol hash browns and eggs. I have tried their migas which are pretty good as well. You won't be disappointed. If you get the Mexican omelette - just be aware there is a giant pile of chili beans piled on top. Make sure that is what you are looking for, or request it on the side. read more

This place is family owned and that's great for them and their success! The servers are very friendly but they are understaffed and inconsistent. My omelette only had half of the ingredients I asked for, the rest was plan egg: unacceptable. My boyfriend didn't get the correct order at all. It takes more than 10 minutes to be seated except you find out you have to seat yourself, there are no signs to tell you only someone to finally come and let you know. We looked for good reviewed breakfast locations and were very disappointed to find and choose this one. Highly recommend spending 7 more minute to visit The Loon. read more

I was a bit disoriented driving around one morning, so I called a buddy asking where I could get breakfast in the area. He said, "I think there's a place called Angela's there on Lovers Lane." Sure enough, he was right, and serendipitous it was. Angela's is a quaint and homey place, with décor that's a bit outdated and perhaps too pastel, serving up great diner-style breakfast. Two eggs over-medium, side of bacon, hash browns, and toast. My favorite way to start the day. But if that ain't your endless cup of joe, they've also got Tex-Mex specialties like migas and enchiladas. The gf and I were both satisfied with our meals, and the service was quick and friendly, always asking if everything was ok and keeping our coffees full. Angela's also sports those unique advertiser mugs like they have at John's Cafe. I wonder if John knows Angela. In any event, you can't buy them here either, though Angela's does have some modern, stylized mugs with "Angela's Cafe" emblazoned on the outside. But those aren't as kitschy. Angela's has been a go to spot for my Dad and I for years, however I do not think I will be going back. The last 2 times we came in, we had the same waiter- I don't know his name, but he is a tall African American man. The 1st time we came in, right after he had brought us waters, he asked us what we wanted to order, and we replied that we weren't ready. He VISIBLY rolled his eyes and walked away, and when we were ready, it seemed like he waited forever to come back on purpose (even though the restaurant was nearly empty at this time), because I guess he was irritated we weren't ready when he had asked. We let this slide because, "maybe he had a bad day", "maybe he got caught up with another table/in the kitchen". However, this happened AGAIN a second time a few weeks later: he asked us what we wanted immediately after drinks, he visibly rolled his eyes, and we waited 20 minutes for him to come back. Irritated, we asked other waiters to get him, he walked by our table twice, saying "just a moment"- (fwi there was one other table occupied in the restaurant). After 20 minutes of not having ordered, we told him we were leaving, and he says, "okay". No "I'm sorry for the wait", nothing. In conclusion, I am very disappointed in Angela's. It had been a tradition for many years to go with my dad, but this waiter is incredibly rude, and there are other places to go. We let it slide the 1st time, but the 2nd time, we left and went to The Original Market Diner (great customer service ALWAYS). Angela's- please look into this waiter. read more

2016 Yelp 100 Challenge Review #12 Really enjoyed Angela's Cafe this morning. I was hella "hungy" as my nephew would say and I needed something quickly to go but didn't want to stop into a fast food joint or go to far plus I wanted a hot breakfast versus a smoothie that I normally opt for in a crunch. I had this place bookmarked plus it was a hop skip away from where I was so I went for it. I'd never been there before so I opted not to order by phone. Angela's Cafe is a part of a shopping center located off the intersection of Inwood and Lovers Lane in Dallas. They have plenty of parking. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted and the young lady took care of me from start to finish. She asked me if I needed a menu and I said yes. She also showed me the board with the day's specials. I opted for the Migas breakfast special which came with free coffee - much needed today. I also got some fruit and a cookie. This was gonna be my one meal for a while since I was headed to lock myself in an office. All in all, the customer service was very attentive and pleasant, the service was quick (my coffee, my food and then to pay) and my food was delicious. I don't eat migas a lot (probably a crime here in Texas lol) but these came with chorizo and a side of hashbrowns. It was very filling yet it was not heavy feeling. I opted for sourdough toast instead of tortillas (probably another offense to Texas Migas lovers). I can say I am officially a fan of Angela's Cafe. They offer so much more too. They bake their cookies in house. I know because I saw macadamias on wax paper on a cookie sheet. They also offer fresh juicing and both fruit and ice cream smoothies. The bathroom was clean. The dining area was spacious enough and there were two separate sitting areas. I think you check out at the cash register versus a waitress bringin it to you because there was a line waiting to pay when I came in. What a gem! I'll be back : ) read more
