Sunday Walk-a-ton-day, exploring a quaint part of Dallas with my hubby. 3rd stop and more to update. Bishop Art District - Dallas Oddfellows Server - Whitney, she was very sweet. Got our drinks fast and help me with recommendation on what to eat. Added extra peppers because we like to eat spicy. Ame's Vodka Gimlet (x2) Vodka, Lime Mint, Crushed Ice Buffalo Mac Fried Chicken Tenders, Buffalo Sause, Blue Cheese Crumb, Creamy Mac & Cheese Sliced Jalapeño and BBQ Sause on the side, not on the Chicken Tenders Place is so much fun. Decide is beautiful setting. There is indoor seating. On beautiful sundays like this everyone seat outside. Must visit!

Great brunch! I had the fried green BLT and added a fried egg. DELICIOUS! Lots of flavor. Lovely iced latte. The server was attentive and friendly. Fun music playing.

Beautiful decor and indoor/outdoor seating, but the food was underwhelming. Everything on my plate was severely under seasoned. I got the chicken fried steak, potatoes and mac and cheese. The steak had a great crisp, but again no flavor. For dessert we got beignets. They were not authentic as claimed to be and were not very edible. They smelled and had a very yeasty taste. It was more like powdered sandwich bread. Our server was nice and attentive! Overall though, this place was very lackluster.

Finally made it into odd fellows for brunch. It's so hard to get in, even on a rainy day the wait was 45 minutes for 2. Service was okay, it took a while for our server to come greet us but then once they did things were smooth. I had the fried green tomatoes and the buffalo Mac and cheese. The fried green tomatoes were just okay. They definitely do them differently. The smoked salmon on the side was good. The buffalo mac and cheese was so good! Overall, this place was alright.

My friend and I decided to visit Oddfellows as it was one of the few places open early for breakfast, not brunch. Service was good, thought it was kinda weird that we weren't given a drink menu, seems like they don't have one? Food was good but not great, nothing much to write about.

We enjoyed everything about our Oddfellows visit. We order a hazelnut latte and a mocha latte and they were delish. We automatically got a big bottle of cold water which I loved. I ordered the mushroom sourdough toast and the husband got the wagyu chicken fried steak. Both were so good. Sylvia was our waitress and she was great. We will definitely be back!

No matter what time you go, you'll have a great vibe with good food and great service. The brunch menu is delicious along with the vast amount of coffee and espresso and such. The building has an open concept where you can sit outside like it's a diner or just enjoy the sunlight from inside while you dine.

Super uber cute spot! We just went for cocktail around 4pm. Wasn't packed. Found a spot to sit quick the server was attentive. It was a beautiful day! The place was clean and drinks were good.

A lot of brunch places get too much hype, but not this one. It is absolutely perfect. We went on a Friday morning for brunch and received great service. The vibe was on point. The food was amazing. I especially loved the flavor of the fried chicken. I would definitely come back if I lived closer. It's definitely worth making the drive over because there's a lot of neat things to explore after you eat. You could make a little day of it.

This restaurant is a MUST TRY! The food is delicious but most importantly the service is top notch. They are very accommodating. Unfortunately I watched a very rude customer try to degrade our waitress but she handled it so well. I left an extra tip just because of how rude the other customer was. I can't wait to return here. We enjoyed the oatmeal, pancakes and the salmon Benedict. All amazing!

Unfortunately a disappointment in my hunt for a Dallas brunch spot. We opted for a table outside as it wasn't too chilly outside and inside was pretty noisy (though we ended up outside with a rowdy group that were probably just as loud as the entire inside but that's no fault of the restaurant other than maybe over serving). We were quickly sat but that was about all that happened quickly. We watched tables around us get sat and every one get greeted and served before we had still as much as been spoken to. Feeling myself about to lose my sh%t, I went back to the host stand let them know we had still not been helped (honestly we probably should've just chopped it up as a loss and started over elsewhere). We finally got some recognition but it was mediocre at best. Since we had been waiting so long, we put in every thing we already knew we wanted to get this show on the road. We ordered deviled eggs, brisket hash and the duck bacon sandwich (which I had already picked before we left the hotel and probably the reason I chose this place over other options because I don't eat pork and have never seen duck bacon as an option). To my dismay, the server comes back and lets me know they are out of duck bacon (I'm going to tell myself us not getting service didn't keep me from the last of said duck bacon but we'll never really know). I asked him to give me a sec to rethink my plan but it took him quite some time to come back ask but ultimately I ended up with chilaquiles instead. Deviled eggs were good, hubby liked his hash, chilaquiles were mediocre and unfortunately didn't come out until my husband was probably half way through his hash. You could maybe get me back in to try the duck bacon sandwich and hope for a better experience, but I wouldn't hold my breathe in receiving better service seeing other experiences, so I would probably opt to give another place a shot.

Great breakfast place in Bishop Arts district . Good service , but better yet, great food! The place is bustling and hustling , so don't expect a quiet breakfast . Full bar and extensive menu. Highly recommend the chicken steak and gravy. I tally had the eggs bene---had better but my BF had the chicken steak and boy howdy it was a crispy piece of heaven . Coffee is really good as well. Recommend.

    Shrimp & Grits (online)
    Jolanta M.

I stopped by Oddfellows in the Bishop Arts District and ordered the shrimp & grits along with the fried green tomatoes. As someone from Louisiana, I'm pretty picky about authentic Cajun flavors, and while the dishes weren't quite the traditional taste I'm used to back home, they were still well-prepared and enjoyable. The shrimp & grits had a nice texture, and the seasoning--though milder than true Cajun style--was still flavorful in its own way. The fried green tomatoes were crispy, fresh, and a solid starter. The atmosphere was rustic, busy, crowded but, the service was fast throughout my visit.

The place had a healthy crowd for that time of day, which is always a good sign. The layout is a casual mishmash of outdoor patios, indoor bars, and a mix of tables and high-tops. Located right across from the Kessler Theater, they clearly attract a steady stream of pre- and post-show guests. The overall vibe is a relaxed sports bar with a welcoming neighborhood feel. I went with the classic cheeseburger and swapped fries for onion strings. The burger was delicious, and the onion strings were a great choice, crispy, flavorful, and not overly greasy. Definitely give PHD's a try. I was impressed.

What else is cool- they pack up meals for the homeless twice a month. I think it's connected with the owners church but still using the space for that is awesome. I have come a couple times and plan to keep coming back. Charles always asks me if i want a ginger ale bc he knows thats all I drink. I had a delicious signature recipe called Dreaming of Suze (pic 2). It immediately caught my eye because Suze is a staple in our bar. It's a yellow French bitter liqueur you don't regularly find out at restaurants. I've never seen anyone infuse it. Unfortunately, everything else was a struggle from the moment we walked in. We didn't have reservations, but eventually found seats at the bar. Given how busy the place was, we figured the bar would mean faster, more attentive service. We were very wrong. We ordered two beers, a non-alcoholic drink, and three appetizers. The drinks arrived, and the appetizers followed about 10 minutes later -- fine so far. But there were no utensils. We had to ask for them, and we asked for plates as well, which never came. The empty dishes from our appetizers sat in front of us for a solid hour with no one clearing them. The bartender who took our order never once checked on us. With 3-4 people working behind the bar, only one server approached us during the entire 40-minute wait between appetizers and dinner to ask if we needed anything. The bartender told us twice that our food was "coming out shortly" -- and still, 40 minutes passed. When dinner finally arrived, my order was wrong. I ordered the Mongolian Short Rib, listed clearly under the Entree section of the menu. The bartender claimed I had ordered off a "happy hour" menu -- one I never saw or was told about -- and had swapped it for BBQ Pork Ribs without saying a word. Knowing a replacement could take another hour, my friend swapped plates with me and took the ribs. He had ordered the steak frites, which, for a rare steak, should have taken no more than 5-6 minutes to prepare. The third entree, fish and chips, was just okay -- a bit soggy and not particularly fresh. To top it all off, after everything we dealt with, the bartender never asked how our meal was or if we needed anything else. The food has potential, but the service was inattentive, disorganized, and frankly unacceptable for a busy restaurant that should know better.

Often times after it's all said & done, you wonder - was that worth it? Thankfully, that is NOT the experience I had at Haywire! I ate here on August 9th, 2025 and enjoyed everything about it. I was with a large party but would love to return for a more intimate experience. On this Saturday, my younger cousin was graduating from Parker University so I was in town for the weekend. At around 1pm, I was one of the first to arrive at the restaurant. Unfortunately the parking is a bit confusing. There was construction being done on the same street when I went but there's a parking garage for customers that's difficult to navigate AND the elevator that connects wasn't operating at the time which was an issue for many (but not me, I got a good spot & walked). My party hadn't all arrived yet so I took a gander. Upon entering the tall doors, the space breathes southwestern elegance: wooden structure, leather seating, separate dining areas with highlighted ranch-style art. The abundance of space gives it an open-concept feel. The lighting fixtures are modern, the space was dim but not too low, with an option to utilize the large windows also. I was quiet impressed at the overall presentation. When my party did arrive, I wanted to keep it simple so I ordered the Chicken Cobb Salad and a Hibiscus Haze with Vodka. The table shmoozed as we ate some of the appetizers: the Crab Dip & Green Tomatoes, both amazing. The food did take some time but, considering it was 10-12 of us, that's expected. The Hibiscus Haze was splendid: smooth & flavorful, a great concoction. Cobb salads are usually pretty thick but this one was HEARTY. It came in a large bowl stuffed with the all the toppings. The dressing it was tossed with was well balanced but could've used a tad bit more. With some pepper & a little ranch, I was set! I defeated the salad but it also left me stuffed to the gills. Satisfying meal that I would order again! There are tons of restaurants to dine at in Dallas & sometimes you never know which is worth your time. Despite the inconvenience of parking, I'd bet my bottom dollar that this is a good place to eat. Whether you want a fine dining experience, it's a special occasion or just want a good drink with a meal, Haywire has enough to satisfy all interests.

I called before deciding where to eat on a Sunday afternoon to confirm parking situations. Parking is not easy downtown so this played a huge factor in figuring where, out of the dozens of brunch places, to eat. Definitely a bit of a walk to get accommodated at the actual restaurant so valet seemed the most reasonably enticing for parking solutions. Well, I called and spoke with the lady at the front desk. I confirmed with this little girl FOUR TIMES IF 1. They had valet available today 2. If it was complimentary. Come to find out it was not complimentary. And $7 for parking just doesn't sit well with me when there are ample free options else where with satisfying beverage, meal, ambiance, and service. All of which, I DID NOT GET AT HAYWIRE. I come in and although I had a reservation that I was 10 minutes early for while noticing tables available, I was told by that same girl who lied to me about parking I needed to take a seat. Reassuring me that it would only take two minutes to be seated. 10 minutes later I see coupled and groups walking in and guess what? They were immediately sat. While I am waiting to be sat at one of the three clean tables I'm staring at. I finally tell my boyfriend I am about to eat at the bar and he goes to the hostess stand to inform them our frustration and guess what? We were sat immediately. I get seated and there are two standing fans placed next to my table that's blowing my hair all over the f*****g place. I had to tell them to turn them off. What? No AC in this place either?? We immediately ordered and got the elk tacos for an appetizer. The tacos are WAY too spicy and way too salty. Too spicy AND too salty?? They're a no for me. You literally can't taste anything because of both! I HATED these little tacos. Probably the worst I've ever had. Ever seen someone attempt to pinch a bit of salt to season and the entire top comes off?? These tacos. My boyfriend had the chicken fried steak. He loved it (loves spicy and seasonings because he's Cajun) but I tried it and it was over seasoned. Again? Couldn't taste what I was eating. The mashed potatoes were divine. Enjoyed those! And then the green beans were tasteless. Hahaha what a joke. I ordered the barbacoa chilaquiles and it was literally too spicy to eat. Inedible. My eyes teared up, my nose started running, and I couldn't taste anything after a couple bites of the spice. I was so f*****g over this place I just ate my boyfriend's mashed potatoes and we left. If I had it my way, I wouldn't have paid for a thing here. They don't deserve our money and I HATE they got a cent from me. I'm livid. I hate this place W I L L N E V E R B E B A C K
