This shop is small and family owned. We greeted right away. We had to take time to review the menu as we had never eaten here before. Everything was pretty tasty. The sauce on the pizza is different from any sauce I've tried from various pizza places. Very low-key pizza spot off to the side. Almost missed it! I walk in and am teleported to a different time; a much older vibe in there. Overall, I was very unsure of what type of quality I'd receive from the food there. To my surprise, my pepperoni pizza was HUGE and CHEESYYY!!!! I went to Angelico's on a weekend afternoon and tried a variety of the offerings. My favorite was the meatball calzone. I like that its full of meat. The corners are still dough, but most of it is meat and cheese. I hate when i get a some kind of hand meal like a calzone and it is full of air, making it taste like mostly bread. This was very satisfying. Another I also enjoyed the pinweels, like little pizza wheels. The fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp was also a hit. I go to Angelico, not for pizza, but for pasta. Pasta every time. My office moved near this location in 2009, so I've been going there over 13 years. I get either the pesto pasta or the baked futility each time. Today I got the pesto pasta and carried it across the street to my office. I opened the container and found a half portion of pasta. (The pasta did not even cover the bottom of the container!) I immediately called and asked when did they reduce the amount of pasta. The woman who answered could not answer any questions (you would think staff would be knowledgeable). I evidentiary spoke to the "chef" (not that Angelico is a restaurant who hires a chef, more like a line cook). He claimed that they have never reduced the amount of pasta. I told him I received a half portion. He said I could bring it back for a remake (I didn't need a remake because I know the flavor is great). He finally agreed to accommodate me on a future visit. Be aware of you have a take out order to ensure you are getting a full order! Oh ... and by the way ... the garlic bread (slice of garlic pizza) was old and hard instead of the way a piece of pizza should be! read more

I luv Angelico's Tenley circa 2005. I went there for lunch today with two coworkers and ordered my usual, a small basic b Greek salad. The greens are nothing to write home about, but the dressing is an A+ vinaigrette and the portion size is good (for a small). Also, I opted for fountain diet coke today (BONUS!). The fountain soda is well carbonated, so I appreciate that. I am leaving a review because the owner (I presume) threw in a free slice of garlic bread. It's the place I stop for a slice and a cold beverage on a summer afternoon. Small storefront...if you don't know it's there you miss it. I worked all day and was in need of my pizza fix. Stuck in the house for what seems like forever, I decided to visit. Nice to get in the car and drive for a change. I order a X-Large (16") cheese with pepperoni. I was told 15 min. I parked the car and walked over after a bit. I hand over the cash, collect my pizza and I'm gone. I planned to have a slice in the car...ok two slices. It's fresh, perfectly cooked. The pepperoni is a little spicy, sauce is a little sweet. Perfect as usual. I have to believe the dough is hand tossed by the texture in the box. There was one thing I looked forward to when I trekked from Foggy Bottom to Tenleytown in order to take some classes at AU. The thought of some pizza after that class was done. I have no idea how Angelico's gets the true tomato flavor in their pizza sauce. They must use actual tomatoes to make it instead of that canned stuff. You get your money's worth when you order a pasta entree. The spinach and cheese ravioli, for instance, was worth it. Garlic bread it comes with is really just a slice of plastic pizza. Salads are bland and come with packaged standard Kens salad dressings. (Caesar for example, not authentic) Margarita pizza was good but crust was too cardboard like. So I've been coming to Angelico's for a while. They have pretty decent pasta and I ordered on Grubhub. Admittedly I made a mistake and put the wrong phone number in. I called them up and as someone who works in customer service, the person on the other line was the rudest most disrespectful person I've dealt with. He tone was super accusatory and he didn't want to solve the problem. The point of customer service is to assist with problems and while the fault was mine he decided to treat me with disrespect. I'm sorry it had to come to this but if we don't condemn bad behavior then it won't continue. Recently the manager contacted me about the situation and was very polite and understanding of the situation. Customer service is always important and that why I marked them down in the first place. But if you have a valid complaint they will listen and that speaks volumes. read more

Ordered a Chicken Caesar wrap on 1/19 from Angelio's Pizzeria. This was my first time ordering from this restaurant. I don't normally leave reviews as you can tell from my profile, but I felt my experience required one. I have never complained to a restaurant even if the order is completely wrong, or even if the delivery took over 2 hours, takes a whole lot to piss me off. I was half way through the Chicken Caesar wrap when I noticed a bug running along the bottom of the sandwich box. I promptly squished the bug with the remainder of the wrap, and promptly threw up all of the wrap I had consumed. If I didn't puke everywhere, I may have had time to take a picture of the bug, but I did take a picture of the regurgitated wrap. I called Angelico's on 1/19 right after this happened and spoke to a female employee who stated I should file a dispute. I filed a dispute today and called to let the manager know. The manager was extremely rude and stated they have never had a bug problem. Maybe if he wasn't so rude, I wouldn't have left this review, but I don't want anyone else to eat bugs and vomit their food up. I will NEVER order from this establishment ever again. read more
