We had take out from Angelos...and it was fine. The pizzas were thicker than I like ( a tad doughy) but okay quality. The family sized Cesar was insanely large and actually good. As someone who has made numerous French onion soups myself, I had high hopes--but this experience was a major letdown. The manager, instead of resolving the issue professionally, seemed to take my complaint personally. When I raised concerns about the soup, he shrugged it off by saying, "It shouldn't be on our takeout menu." Frankly, that's not an excuse--it's an admission of failure. If something isn't suited for takeout, it shouldn't be offered in the first place. Per his request, I walked to the back of the restaurant where he had me open the container and show the "chef". Inside was a lukewarm broth with strands of shredded cheese floating around. No melt, no depth--just a sad, soupy mess. He insisted that this was what I should expect when ordering French onion soup to-go. To avoid "causing a scene," he had a kitchen staff member bring out a hastily thrown-together replacement, which wasn't any better. Hoping the rest of the order would redeem the experience, I got home and opened a pizza topped with feta--only to find a laughable scattering of cheese covering a mere one- to two-inch radius in the mid. (Photo attached for proof.) The menu sounded promising, but the execution was a disaster. I'll give it one more shot in person to see if this was just an off night--but I left deeply disappointed by the food, the takeout system, and the lack of accountability. read more

If you love muscles they have mollusk Monday $7 for a plate that will fill you up with the side of garlic bread for the service and the food is always great and now that it's warmer out they've opened up the windows that face sticks Avenue which I'm not a real fan of because what you're doing is just inhaling exhaust fumes but it's a nice ambiance read more

Highly recommend!!! I'm visiting from out of town and was recommended Angelo's. Very impressed with how friendly the staff was and how delicious the food was! I went for happy hour around 4:30ish and had a pleasant table to myself and really enjoyed the atmosphere not too loud and was checked on multiple times. I also asked my waitress for recommendations on what else I should see in Denver for my short visit and very grateful for her wonderful recs! Panna Cotta for dessert Everyone there was friendly and the food came out pretty quick even tho they were packed.They don't take reservations, but the wait wasn't too bad, it was around 20 minutes. This place was ok I didn't have a mind blowing positive experience but I also didn't have a negative experience either. The service was just okay, I sat down and was given my water which I chugged almost immediately but then I sat with an empty water for majority of my meal until a another worker came by and saw that my glass was empty and refilled it. However, I was seated in a small room so I could very easily see my server as she refilled and checked on other customers but not me. The food was solid. The chargrilled oysters were definitely my favorite they were large and seasoned and cooked very well. The vodka penne and Brussels sprouts were both good but needed salt and pepper. The raw oysters were fresh but small especially in comparison to the grilled oysters. Once again, I didn't have a bad experience but I also didn't have a great one. This place has been an institution since the 80's. I haven't been to this location in decades, but was tickled to go back! The food and atmosphere were fantastic! It would have been 5 stars had the service been rough. Food servers were completely disinterested and slow. read more

I love Angelo's. I love their food, love the atmosphere and love the staff. I have never had any issues with anyone or any thing that I have ordered. The balsamic ribs are one of my favorite items to get after watching the kitchen make a ton of them at the bar one day. I finally tried their pizza for the first time on this specific dining experience and it was really good too. Very cheesy. The happy hour is amazing and it is daily, so you can also go on the weekends. $1 oysters are worth it alone. Thomas was our server this time and he was great! Great, fun attitude and constantly checking on us to see if we needed new drinks, more food, etc. Overall fantastic experience as usual. read more

You can't tell how busy Angelo's is out front, but the staff is bustling as soon as you enter. We couldn't decide between Angelo's and Odyssey. Most reviews pointed us here, and I'm glad we listened. Since it was just my brother and I, we were seated quick but expect a long wait otherwise. Out server was a sweetheart. We ordered a lot. The balsamic glazed ribs are a must order. The sauteed mushrooms on the pizza was a great addition. The sauces for the lobster gnocchi and gorgonzola steak fettuccine were lacking flavor, but the arugula and leeks were delicious compliments in the gnocchi as were the arugula and roasted peppers in the fettuccine. I've had much better pastas but the food is better than most other restaurants that claim to be Italian. The cannoli is made with mascarpone, not ricotta, so I don't recommend. read more

The food was delicious! I came here with a large group and called ahead two weeks ago to make sure we'd have a table. We waited at the bar and ended up being seated at 7:40 for a 7:00 pm res. The hostess also seemed annoyed each time I asked. Also I walked to the bathroom and completely misunderstood the directions and walked into a back area and immediately walked back and one of the other servers was very rude about it when it was simply an accident. The food and the server we were assigned was fantastic. It was such a bummer and I would definitely recommend this spot for a small group of 2-4 or meeting a friend for happy hour. But if you have a big group I'd definitely recommend a spot that takes reservations. read more

If there was one food item I'd inject in my body through any hole or vein, it would be the chipotle bourbon chargrilled oysters. I left full and thinking of them now makes me hungry all over again. Also shout out to our waitress who recommended the ravioli but with bolognese sauce... brought me so much satisfaction they could also gladly enter whatever hole they please and I would die happy. No shade whatsoever, but the beef carpaccio had the flavor capacity of an ice cube. Every other table had the mussels that looked SO good but I'll gladly take the heat for making that party foul tonight and ordering the carpaccio instead. read more

I had reservations with a group on a Thursday night at 5:30 and the place was absolutely packed! There was no room to even sit at the bar, so I'm glad we had reservations. It's awesome that they let you do happy hour in the dining room because a lot of places don't. Our service was very good. While the food was good, we all just said it was good and not great. This place is SO good. We really enjoyed everything we tried. Our party had the vodka pappardelle with grilled chicken, the vodka fettuccini with crumbled sausage, and the salmon pesto risotto, which were all recommended by our server. The homemade pappardelle and fettuccini was amazing and had a great texture. The vodka sauce was so flavorful and rich, and the salmon was cooked to perfection. The tomatoes on top of the salmon tasted like bruschetta and brought a nice freshness to the dish. For dessert, we tried the panna cotta and tiramisu. They were so good that we forgot to take a picture. The panna cotta had a strong vanilla flavor and wasn't too sweet. The raspberry sauce on top was a nice tart contrast. The tiramisu was very light and airy. Overall, the food was delicious and the service was fast. We will definitely be back soon to try the rest of the menu! read more

Myself and my wife were seated in a classic booth between two church like windows. I loved the ambience. Perfectly hidden from the chatter of the bar and close enough to have a nice date. The Bacon Gorgonzola Oyster is beautiful & fabulous. As well as the Apache Rose Peacock Pizza $22.00/12"$28.00/16": prosciutto, arugula, roasted mushrooms, fresh mozzarella, truffle oil, white sauce. Ridiculously cheesy and perfectly balanced with truffle and arugula. Great leftovers too. Me and my wife love this restaurant. read more

This cute little gem of a place married old world Italian cuisine with vibrant colored limoncello walls & equally cheerful crowd. We enjoyed our dinner so very much. As an Italian American I consider myself a pretty good judge of pasta, sauce & all things in between. Food quality was outstanding, large portions, super tasty freshly baked breads, generous portions, the most beautiful Pinot Grigio (I need the name please). Veronika was our server she was such a pro, service was impeccable as were her fellow servers. Clearly everybody was working as a team more like a family. I don't even know where to start with Angelo's Tavern. The service was painfully slow! When the food finally arrived, it was cold, bland, and honestly felt like it had been microwaved straight out of a freezer box. WhenI told the server he seemed uninterested! The staff seemed uninterested at best and downright rude at worst, acting like we were a burden for even asking for salt and pepper. The drinks not bad! Yes, I was charged .50 cents for 3 red onions! Ned time just say there's a charge! Denver has so many great places to eat and grab a drink -- this is absolutely not one of them. We walked in and sat at the bar for a drink. The bartenders are friendly and service oriented. I ordered a great tasting cider ale on tap. I was not too hungry, so I ordered garlic bread. The great tasting garlic bread was toasty with an exceptionally good marinara red sauce for dipping. The restaurant and bar's atmosphere is warm and cozy. Great happy hour and vibes. Not sure what else you can ask for in a neighborhood Italian joint! Getting a table here can be tricky so just be prepared to wait a little bit during peak times. But otherwise we can generally get a table here. I usually get their oysters and fried ravioli. My girlfriend loves their penne vodka and Cesar salad. But really you can't go wrong with anything on their menu. read more

I had been here before years ago and thought I would try again. Appetizers Grilled oysters were good and had three different ones all good. We had the glazed ribs tasted good but were dry. I had the lamb shank it was well done and was lacking in flavor and the grits were not done. My wife had the lasagna and was disappointed. My Brother and mother had the shrimp tagliatelle and said the dish really had no flavor. As busy as the place was I'm guessing its us. Service was great. I mentioned this to a friend who goes there and he said they only go for appetizers because they find the same as we did the dishes lack in flavor. I love love love Angelo's! It was my boyfriend and I's second time visiting and it honestly just exceeds our expectations every time. Now first, before I begin ranting about my love for Angelo's, I want to list the reason I gave it 4 stars as opposed to 5. When we entered the restaurant I was standing in front of the hostess stand for about 7 seconds. I let the silence linger a bit because I was waiting for them to say hello, as expected when you enter any restaurant or business. There were two girls at the hostess stand, one of them was grabbing the menus but the other girl was this blonde wearing a white shirt and blue jeans and she was just leaning on the hostess stand staring at us. Personally I think any hostess or employee should be welcoming when they see a customer walking in, I say this as someone who has worked in a service position before. So I let the silence linger for a bit because I thought maybe they'd say hello but no I had to say it first. Again the blonde just kept staring, not a smile nor a greeting and I think that's just poor manners in my opinion. I suppose you don't have to say hi, but your mother should've taught you to not just stare. The other hostess who sat us down made up for the lack of greeting considering she did ask us how our day was and if we had been in before while walking us to our seat. In our previous experiences at Angelo's, everybody's been quite kind so maybe it was just a bad day for the blonde hostess. Anyways, while the beginning of our visit rubbed me the wrong way a bit, the rest of the visit was fantastic! Our waiter, I forgot her name but she had short grayish curly hair, provided top tier service. The place was very clean and service was great from everybody else, 10/10. Now the important part, besides service, we got quite the selection of food. We got a few things off of their happy hour menu (which is everyday from 3-6 and not just the weekdays like most places do) and a few other menu items. These included the meatball slider (really liked how the bread was toasty), the arancini ('twas good but not life changing, still yummy though), a Caesar salad (was yummy but it almost had either too much garlic or too much pepper because it was kind of spicy in a weird way), the cheese raviolis with alfredo sauce, the suck my kiss pizza and chicken parm. Upon reflection, my top 3 favorite dishes, that I advise you to try, are the cheese raviolis with alfredo (so so so yummy), the chicken parm and my all time favorite, the suck my kiss pizza. Gosh that pizza is so good and I genuinely recommend to anyone who likes a good salty and sweet mix in their pizza. Overall, Angelo's is so very yummy and I encourage you to visit. Honestly, I was so blown away by this spot. I was here in town for a conference and really craving Italian, but wasn't expecting anything spectacular when I came in. But man, this was one of the best Italian meals I've had in a while. I came in on a Thursday night around 8, solo, and had a small wait for a table. The bar is a tad tight so no room to squeeze in there...but not a problem. I ordered a "Naked and Unknown" cocktail and it is so bright and refreshing. Highly recommend! For food, I ordered the Angelo's Bruschetta and I was melting over how good it was. Sooooo decadent, perfectly seasoned. It took all my willpower to not eat the whole entire thing myself. Then for my entree the Ragu di Capra and MY GOD. It was so amazing. The meat was seasoned and stewed to perfection. Paparadelle was perfect al dente. Zero complaints here! What a great meal! Let's start with the good stuff: - Very tasty food - excellent pasta, appetizers, clams (as a vegetarian I didn't eat them, but there were lots of yummy noises coming out of my dinner mates who did), and the brownie was scrumptious - The ambiance is excellent - cute little place with lots of nooks to dine in. - Super friendly staff - they were kind, knowledgeable, and attentive The bad: - No parking - not their fault, but it definitely isn't a fun bookend when you're walking many blocks in the cold. We will rectify this by coming to eat here in nice weather and not dark winter next time. - They aren't super allergy friendly. There's a ton of cross contamination here. And while they're very up front about it, they should rather do something about it so everyone can have a safe and enjoyable experience. - Limited vegetarian options - the option I tried (ravioli) was delicious, but it was really one of the only options and even that was supposed to have bacon on it. I went back and forth on four stars and ultimately decided to go with three because of the dietary issues. In 2023, I expect more from well established restaurants when it comes to supporting all customers (unless you're a steakhouse and then you're pretty darn upfront in your name). read more

This review is based on my experience here at this restaurant and not on the food provided. We walked in today during happy hour and while the main room was not full, we were brought to the back room. As Asians, I felt we were racially discriminated against. Like why they couldn't let us sit in the main dining room but trying to hide Asians away from prying eyes ? Having Asians in the establishment is seen as disgusting? I don't really know what to rate because I'm slightly confused... Came here right at happy hour on a Friday (3-6 pm). Very busy but was able to get seating. Staff are awesome and friendly. We ordered our appetizers and in less than 2 minutes the deep fried raviolis and the sliders come out. I shouldn't be surprised by the quickness for this round because these are very quick to make especially if they aren't handmade raviolis. Tasted good enough! Ordered our two pasta entrees and it came out in 5-8 minutes. They tasted both good, not amazing, but I was SO surprised by the speed. I think this place is overhyped but I didn't hate it! read more
