First off, the service here is great. The staff were warm, welcoming, and made the experience feel really friendly from the start. I tried the Torpedo sandwich, and while it was good, I realized I personally prefer hot sandwiches over cold ones so for me, the food was just okay this time. That said, I'd definitely be open to coming back and trying other items on the menu. The ambience is pretty quiet since most people seem to grab their food to go rather than dine in. It's more of a quick stop spot than a place to hang out. Overall, a solid place to check out if you're in the 2nd Street area, especially with the great service.

I checked out Angelo's Italian Deli and I really wanted to like it, especially since it has that classic local spot feel and the ambiance is actually pretty fun. It's colorful, a little playful, and feels like one of those neighborhood places you'd expect to have solid, comforting food. But the food... I can't lie, it just did not hit for me. I ordered what was recommended as a go-to, something like their number one, thinking I couldn't go wrong with the most popular option. And somehow, that ended up being the biggest disappointment. The bread was insanely hard, like to the point where chewing it actually felt like work. I'm not even exaggerating when I say my jaw was sore by the end of it. It completely took away from whatever flavors were there because all I could focus on was how tough it was to get through each bite. I've been to Italy once, and I don't remember anything being that rough to eat, so it just threw me off. Maybe it was an off day or just not the right order for me, but it definitely wasn't enjoyable. The vibe is there, the location is great, but based on that experience alone, I wouldn't go back for the food.

The seating area in the front has a few tables. There are also a few seats overlooking the sidewalk outside. I came here for a sandwich and I got the Torpedo, which is a three meat sub sandwich with mortadella, capicolla, and salami. The bread was the best part. It's really fresh, crusty and truly great. I'd come here to get bread. It's that good. The sandwich itself was good, but not great. The ingredients were all fresh. But the combination lacked flavor. It was in no way bad. It just wasn't memorable. The service is good. The guy who took the order was pleasant. The sandwich was made to order. It took about 10 minutes, not a long wait. The Italian grocery items looked really nice. I'd cone back for that too, just wouldn't go out of my way for the sandwich,

Great location on second street. Outdoor seating and a cool Italian vibe and goods inside. We walked by this place many times and we noticed that the sandwiches looks amazing. This time we went in and had some red wine and a sandwich. Great and quick service. Unfortunately the sandwiches looks amazing was a bit underwhelming and a bit overpriced. I am going to back and try another sandwich and might get a different experience. In any case solid place.

Update on the mild Italian sausage we bought from Angelos. Decent taste, but full of fat. Made a sausage grinder with bell peppers and onions and every other bite was fat. I broke up the rest for lasagna. No thanks.

I found this Italian deli on Yelp after seeing so many glowing reviews about their sandwiches, and I was really excited to try it. The deli is situated on a corner of a busy street, and there's no dedicated parking. so you'll need to rely on street parking, making sure to pay attention to the signs and meter restrictions. Once I arrived, it was bustling inside: people were chatting loudly, going about their daily routines, and there was one person ahead of me ordering. The vibe of the place was fantastic. it felt both classy and cozy, almost like stepping into a local's home. You can tell it's a place where regulars gather. people just felt at ease and comfortable. The staff were super friendly. The store is filled with all kinds of Italian delights: olive oils, gourmet snacks, and even Italian icecream. I ordered their most popular sandwich, the number one of the menu but to be honest, I think I may have been too hyped up. The sandwich was just okay, not bad, but also not as special as I expected. If I had to rate it, I'd give it about a three out of five. Maybe it was just that day, or maybe I was expecting too much, but I also noticed the price was a bit steep. For a sandwich, a drink, and a dessert cake, I ended up spending almost $35. I was hoping the sandwich alone would be more in the $8 to $9 range, but at $16 or $17, it felt overpriced. I left a bit disappointed because, with all the hype, I was expecting something really exceptional. Hopefully, next time, I'll give another item a try and see if the experience improves, but for now, I'm a bit let down.

Its a pretty good sandwich! This torpedo has a pesto spread which is fresh and delicious.. plenty of deli meats and goods. The bread is soft but crisp. My husband ordered the chicken parm which is his favorite. My only thing is id prefer if they had an option to order half a sandwich. Its definitely too much for one person..they are worth the price..but if you are a single person that wants a simple sandwich there should be an option to order half.. its a lot of commitment.. or you save the half for later. There are places to sit or you can call in advance and pick up.

Spotted this during my lunch and I'm so glad I did!! Not only did I have an amazing lunch, but I get to have left overs for tonight! I am so satisfied with everything from the customer service to the indoor/outdoor dining!! Definitely coming back with friends to share a sub.

I passed by this place a couple times, and ever since I moved here to Long Beach I have been looking for an Italian deli to visit. After a day at the beach, a sandwich sounded really good to me. It's smaller than I imagined for an Italian market. They have a number of items but not some that I'm used to seeing. Their deli counter was also pretty small. They only had one pasta salad and a few other dishes. I will give them some credit on their cannolis. They looked really big and I'm sure they were delicious. I went in and ordered my girlfriend and I a sandwich each. I was more than surprised by how much they actually cost. I figured this would be the one time I would spend this much money for sandwiches because they are using plenty of fresh ingredients and probably make their bread from scratch. After opening up our sandwiches, we noticed that the bread was indeed fresh and quite rustic. It was stacked with all the ingredients necessary for a great sandwich and tasted very good. The garlic spread was a great highlight and yet wasn't overpowering. My girlfriend and I give the sandwiches an eight out of ten. If I'm being Frank, I don't believe these sandwiches should cost anywhere near $20. 15 at the most, but that's cutting it close.

Recently stopped by Beach City Deli & BBQ after seeing recommendations online and decided to order…read morethe Big Kahuna. Honestly, one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. The pineapple added to what's basically a Cuban style sandwich sounds different at first, but it works perfectly. The balance of sweet, savory, crispy, and smoky was spot on. Everything tasted super fresh and the bread held everything together perfectly without getting soggy. My original plan was to eat half and save the rest for later... yeah, that didn't happen. Ended up finishing the whole thing because it was that good. Service was friendly, food came out quick, and the whole spot had a really chill local vibe. Definitely a hidden gem if you're in the area. Highly recommend this place and I'll for sure be back to try more off the menu.

I got the 10-inch chopped cheese combo. The sandwich had a few positives: good amount of beef, tender meat, cheese melted in well and the bread was genuinely great. Soft, chewy, flavorful and easily the best thing here. Everything after that started falling apart. The sandwich was rich and oily but didn't have enough seasoning, acidity or heat to balance it. There were faint hints of cumin and the salt level was fine, but overall it tasted like it was trying to coast on grease. The lettuce and tomato added nothing, and even the cilantro sauce couldn't cut through the oily aftertaste. If you do try it, add onions, pickles and jalapeños because the base sandwich badly needs backup. The fries looked good, then delivered absolutely nothing. Barely seasoned, smaller portion than expected and somehow had a weird burnt aftertaste despite looking normal. That takes effort. Service was the real disaster. The person helping me acted annoyed, like customers were an unfortunate side effect of running a restaurant. The menu board shows combo pricing for some items, like burgers, but not sandwiches, so the chopped cheese combo pricing was unclear. The drink situation was ridiculous. The board says $2.99 for a 24 oz drink and the soda machine was right there, but I was handed a 12 oz can with no heads-up that the machine wasn't available. That's not a substitute. Full size promise for a half-size reality. For $22.03 total, that made the whole combo feel even worse value-wise. Food took almost 30 minutes and it felt like my order sat around until it was convenient to bag it. I only got it when another customer who ordered after me was being helped. Add the flies hanging around the napkins and surfaces and this started feeling less like lunch and more like a health inspection waiting to happen. Parking is rough too since it's on a narrow, busy intersection, though there is paid parking across the street. Overall, the bread was great and the sandwich had potential, but potential doesn't carry bad service, bland fries, unclear pricing, a drink downgrade, a long wait and flies. If the food was amazing, maybe some of this could be overlooked. Nah, too many atrocities happening.
