We love Potato Chips sandwiches. Freshest bread around. Soft on the outside yet holds a good sandwich, including oil, without getting soggy. The menu seems to grow with each visit. In addition, they offer specials. I think I have tried most of the sandwiches on their menu and all have been great. Today I ordered one if my favorites Turkey (I have many here) and my husband ordered the hot meatball, another one of my favorites. Both sandwiches were excellent. Definitely shareable, but we didn't share and finished our sandwiches! Meatball waa quite messy but so good! I usually don't order my turkey sandwich with oil and vinegar but I do here. It's balsamic vinegar and oil and pairs well with the Havarti cheese! Loaded with fresh roasted turkey too! Service is always friendly and they sandwiches come out quickly. I usually order sandwiches to go after a trip to Wholefoods but today we dined in (really outside!). We decided to grab our sandwiches and sit next door (kiosk) and enjoy with Beers at Beachwood! I Checked this place out for the first time today. I ordered the pastrami sandwich and it was really good. I really enjoyed my sandwich but this was the priciest sandwich meal that I've ever consumed. It was $26 and some change for the pastrami sandwich, a bag of potato chips and a can of soda. It's literally the same amount that I spent the last time that I dined at a restaurant which included an appetizer, refillable beverage and tip. The location of the sandwich shop and the outdoor dining is perfect, especially if there are any events going on. You get to sit right in the heart of everything. Can't really speak much about the customer service as the interactions with employees are very limited. Since you order on a tablet. Picked up the Caesar sandwich for lunch, hoping for a classic combo of romaine, shaved parm, and breaded chicken, all "tossed in classic Caesar dressing." Unfortunately, it just didn't come together for me. The dressing was plentiful but surprisingly bland--lacking the punch you usually expect from a good Caesar. The breaded chicken was also quite bland and didn't seem to be tossed in anything, just laid into the sandwich. The bread itself was very floury, which distracted from the already muted flavors. I did appreciate the slice of lemon, as it added a needed brightness, but overall, there just wasn't enough flavor to pull everything together. Not bad. A decent sandwich at a high price point in an area and time where everything is expensive. For all the sandwiches the bread is soft and chewy. Not a huge fan of that, I prefer sandwiches to have some crunch. So if soft and chewy is your jam, you may enjoy this place more than me. Turkey & Brie: Very good quality turkey meat, brie was creamy, this was probably the best sandwich of our order. Pastrami: Decent. However it reminds me of Togo's at twice the price and half the meat, with bread that's too soft. Philly Cheese steak: I should have known better than to order a Philly cheese steak at a place that isn't known for it. I wouldn't order it again, and advise you don't either. Meat was not it. Flavor was more bell paper/fajita than a Philly. Service is basically non-existent in this style of ordering. Why don't they disable the tip function in their Square POS? $65 for 3 sandwiches and 1 bag of chips is definitely on the high side of ANYTHING. It was cool to try, but the outdoor seating in a pop up style environment isn't enough to overcome mid tier sandwiches. Potato Chips Deli has officially been added to the sandwich rotation for me and my girlfriend after three visits and six different sandwiches so I feel pretty confident saying this is a solid 4 star spot for sandwich lovers in Long Beach. Between the two of us we've tried Tuna Sandwich - Definitely not your typical mayo heavy tuna. It was more herbaceous and light than creamy, which was a nice change of pace. If you like fresher, brighter tuna instead of rich and gloopy, this one is worth a try. Caprese - Super fresh and creamy and the ingredients themselves were on point. That said, it was missing a bit of seasoning a simple hit of salt, pepper, or some Italian seasoning would've taken it from "good" to "great." Turkey Sandwich - This was just a really good turkey sandwich. Simple, classic, and well executed. Definitely our #2 favorite so far. BLT - Our biggest miss. For such an iconic sandwich this version felt a little too basic and underwhelming compared to everything else we tried. Chicken Parm - A great option when you're in the mood for something hot and comforting. The sauce and cheese combo hit the spot and it was a fun switch up from the cold sandwiches. This lands at #3 on our list. Italian Sandwich - The star of the show. Perfect balance of flavor and acidity with all the right textures going on. This is hands down our #1 sandwich here and the one I'd recommend first if it's your first visit. On top of the sandwiches their chip selection is FIRE tons of fun options that make it feel like you're building a full snack experience not just grabbing a quick bite. The drink selection is solid too and I've got to give extra love for having sparkling apple juice as an option. Little things like that make it stand out. Service has been consistently chill and low key on all three visits nothing over the top but friendly enough and they get the job done. Overall as a sandwich stand Potato Chips Deli deliver good quality ingredient, a couple of standout sandwiches (get the Italian!), fun chip and drink choices, and casual no frills vibes. The sandwiches are well constructed with an even amount of toppings. They hold together well. I would like to try one of their lettuce wrapped sandwiches next time. The price is right. I ordered a pastrami sandwich and a bottle of Coke then took a seat in the patio area (there is no indoor seating). Five minutes later my sandwich was brought to the table I was sitting at. The bread was fresh, the pastrami very tender and tasty. The pastrami is from Russak's, the same provider of pastrami to Langer's, so you know it's top quality. The swiss cheese, mustard, and relish all added to the overall "wow factor" of this sandwich. The pickle relish allowed that pickle flavor to be present in every bite. Prices were on the high side (I'm sure their lease is expensive in this complex). The bread was easily the best part. Thin with a sort of crispy crust, but light and airy. Really good! I like more mustard than most on a pastrami... usually. The mustard was good, but it over-powered the sandwich. That's because of my point... there's barely any pastrami compared to what you get just about anywhere at that price point. Long story short. When I saw the bread used is focaccia, I ALMOST did not order. That would have been a mistake. For me, focaccia is hit or miss, mostly miss, frequently stale or hard to bite into: not here! The bread is lightly toasted, fresh and absolutely delicious. The sandwiches I ordered (tuna and Italian) were incredibly flavorful, one of the best tuna and Italian sandwiches I've ever had. So why 4 stars? Because I ordered online for pickup (easy and was ready for pickup within 15 minutes) and added pickles to the tuna: 50 cent charge. They forgot the pickles. This defeats one of the major reason I order online: there is no confusion as to WHAT I ordered. But when I am charged (yes, it's only 50 cents the pickles, but still, I tipped $10 cash on my order in anticipation of these delicious things) extra and do not receive what I ordered, well that's a "I'm not coming back here" from me.
