My experience with Angelos Restaurant was not pleasant. My family is from out of town and were visiting another family member at a nursing home in Spring Valley. We ordered the following items for takeout and next to them are the listed issues. We will not be returning to Angelos as their food is repulsive... Fettuccine Alfredo - clumpy sauce, as the milk it was made with was possibly curdled. Not an ounce of seasoning was present in the alfredo. Southwest Chicken salad - Yellow iceberg lettuce, no seasoning on the chicken and thrown together as if it was made in a hurry. Spaghetti with meat sauce - bland, no taste and again not an ounce of seasoning involved. Gyros sandwich - Lamb was way too well done and the overall flavor again lacked seasoning. I want to take the time to say our overall experience in Spring Valley was enjoyable, just not in regard to Angelos. Very good food, the staff is kind and very attentive. Really good food. I have only been here at the dinner hour with friends, but it's been very pleasant and enjoyable. Ambiance is what you make it. Tables are too close together, so I don't recommend it for any private meetings. It's a good place just for fun with friends. Best shrimp ever. My boyfriend and I are from Chicago and we were told to stop by while traveling through the town. I got the fried whitefish and my boyfriend got the fried chicken and Alfredo pasta. We both thought the portions were huge for a great price and everything tasted delicious. Service was 10/10 and other staff members came to our table periodically to check on us. Very poor service, waitress had very poor customer service. Would bring you something and then disappear. Everyone at my table got their food, I waited another 10 minutes for mine. I ordered a 1/2 mixed chicken got a thigh, breast and 2 wings where was the leg? Thigh wasn't even cooked very pink in middle. Finally got the waitress's attention told her my chicken wasn't cooked all the way thru and brought it to attention that I ordered a half mixed. She said she would put in another order, I said no didn't want to wait another half hour told her to just take the uncooked thigh off and bring me back the rest. Never did come back with my plate, also never asked everyone else at my table if everything was okay. Had to go to cashier ( which I think she might of been owner ) for our bill, told her I never got my order which she took off the bill. Pretty sure they needed more kitchen help too. The Place Angelo's is located in Spring Valley, Illinois right off St. Rt. 6 by St. Margaret's Hospital. This is a nice family operated and family centered business. This restaurant is larger than it appears from the street with ample lot parking. There are both tables and booths available with a large dining room for private parties and main dining room overflow. This restaurant is modern, clean, and well maintained. The Food/Menu Very full menu to chose entrees and appetizers. We have heard great things about their pizza and sandwiches but were focused on fish this evening. We ordered broiled Cod, with a healthy salad, baked sweet potato, and mixed vegetables. For our other entrees we ordered garlic and herb crusted Tilapia, with baked potato, and a healthy salad. Our meals came with very generous portion sizes and were excellent. The Service/Value/Experience Our server was friendly and efficient!! We found the prices to be very fair for the value presented. Out for a Sunday dinner with my man ..our journey took us to Spring Valley. This little taste of Italy is located on the main drag. Owner and Servers were welcoming and top notch. We ordered and began our journey with the Chicken and rice Soup. Nice Flavor, plenty of rice and chicken in broth. Well done. Side salad was big and included red onion and tomato..we always order 3 or 4 dressings on side to try ...loved the creamy garlic. I ordered Prime Rib Med rare..presented perfectly cooked...Queen cut was large..juicy sitting on top of a nice au jus. Actually a nice leaner cut..not too much fat. This was house cooked...not overly salty like some you get in LaSalle...nice job. My man ordered fried shrimp..they were large and batter very tasty. Sides included Baked Sweet Potato with Cinnamon and Butter..the Crispy Bread loaf with house Cinnamon Butter was a taste of my childhood..conjuring memories of French toast. More than just pizza. We live all the way out in Granville, and Angelos was able to deliver us anything we wanted on their menu. We ordered pizza and prime rib and the food was pretty good. The pizza was on the thin crust side, but I prefer that over the Chicago style any day. Prices are reasonable, and the employees are very hospitable (at least over the phone). They were dried out and tasted like leftovers from the previous day. Otherwise, everything else has been fantastic! The burgers are thick and served on brioche buns, the fried chicken beats ANY I've had anywhere! And I'm a Southerner! (YES, It definitely beats the "famous" competition in Ladd!) And the pizza? The crust is a little crispy, which I LOVE. And is flavorful! The selection of toppings is large, too. Their fish dinners are really good. As good as any I've had anywhere. I ordered a pizza and one hour later had to call back where is the pizza? Oh i was told they had a large table in restraunt to take care of. And i was told it was just coming out of oven. 10 minutes later delivery boy calls to find out how to get to our house. The pizza was warm but greasy and stuck to the box. I could not decide on where to eat for my birthday dinner so we took a drive and checked out places in each town. We stumbled across Angelo's and my husband remembers a coworker mentioning them so we decided to give them a try. BEST.BIRTHDAY.DINNER!!!! So disappointed!! Placed an order for 24 wings and a small pizza for delivery and price was $44. Questioned total and I was told it was because I had to pay separately for each different sauce for the wings. Was going to order them all plain and sauce myself but girl stated let me check with owner and came back online and stated he will do it this time but in the future only one sauce allowed because it's a pain! Wow. Okay. Sorry to bother you. After order was ironed out I was told give it about an hour. So after 90 min I called to check on the status and again was told it should be there any minute. So 1hour and 45 minutes later our ice cold taco pizza and wings arrived. Cost me $42. I did call to voice my dissatisfaction and was told we got busy and they got confused. Let me check again with the owner and came back to say next time you order we will give you a small pizza. We have been costumers for years and dine in frequently. Lesson learned here.
