My mom, sisters, and I were in the area during lunchtime and someone recommended this family owned Italian restaurant to us. This spot is very clean and the workers are super personable. For appetizers, we ordered the Fried Calamari and Batter Dipped Fried Zucchini. The calamari portion was a much larger portion than we expected and the zucchini was very large as well. We had 4 people in our party, and had some leftovers. They both were extremely tasty. You also get bread and butter. I ordered the Lasagna and it came out very warm. Most lasagnas I try are watery, but this one was not. This may have been the best lasagna I have ever had. My mom even ordered one to go for my dad. We also ordered the Meatball Sandwich, Linguini with White Clam Sauce, and Eggplant Parmigiana. There were absolutely no complaints with any of the dishes. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. Ambiance is nice but the service and food lacked all the hype we heard about this place. My Alfredo was super dry and my daughter's "Mac and cheese" was swimming in sauce. I almost ate hers! We sat outside and our waitress, Morgan, was attentive and very pleasant. She seemed to have a good knowledge of the menu as well. She refilled our drinks and bread as needed without asking and was a delight. The seating was comfortable and pleasant. I got the lasagna and the other person in my party got the veal Parmesan. The veal was served a nice golden brown. The lasagna portion size was large and served with some mozzarella on top. that seemed like an afterthought. It wasn't melted. The meat in the lasagna had chunks that were quite large and big chunks of tomato. If we went back, we would not order either again. My sauce was very acidic. We shared a salad as an appetizer that had chicken and vegetables that were warm off the grill. I highly recommend the salad and I'm sorry I don't remember the name of it. read more

My friend and I decided to take our girls here after a pretty intense bounce house sesh at the mall down the road. We had seen that the reviews were good and were not disappointed in finding them to be accurate! I don't think this is my new go-to Italian spot but I would love to go back if I were in the area. The Atmosphere is warm and inviting, but also has a pretty hefty chain restaurant feel. I like the little gelato window at the front; there were many delectable choices and I may have to disregard my slight lactose intolerance next time! What was not enjoyable was the sound of the phone behind us. When placed on hold, it gives a very loud and brash ring and it seems that the manager doesn't prioritize phone requests so it took them about five minutes or so of consistent ringing to answer the call that was holding for them. I'm pretty easygoing and don't normally mind this kind of thing, but it was LOUD. There was also a sensor alarm going off in the entryway when we were leaving so if quiet solitude is your thing, I'd cross this one off. My daughter had the kid's pasta and her friend got the mac and cheese. Unfortunately the mac was a flop for the girls and they ended up sharing the regular pasta, but us adults thought the mac was delicious. I went with the eggplant panini. I personally think that it needs a balsamic sauce rather than the abundance of olive oil that they put on it. It was just missing something. It was good, but I'd go for something different next time. Considering the amount of time I spent picking a meal from all of their wonderful choices, this shouldn't be hard to do. My friend's caprese flatbread was darn tasty. Service was pretty great. The hostess gave the girls these little sticky sticks that were awesome to play with while they were waiting. I do not understand how this place doesn't have higher reviews. The service is absolutely wonderful. You can tell it has been around for so long because it is so comforting and family-oriented. It is such a hidden gem that we discovered in a desire to get away from downtown Pittsburgh where all the restaurants are too crowded and cannot accommodate a party larger than two. Mozzarella medallions are crispy on the outside with fresh gooey, stretchy cheesy on the inside. The fried zucchini looks like a piece of fried catfish because they use such large pieces of zucchini and a seriously well-seasoned crispy batter. One of the special entrees for the evening was a rock shrimp, large wheel rotelle pasta. The pasta was cooked perfectly and bathed in a glorious creamy sauce with five cheeses, mushrooms, peas & peppers. Flourless chocolate cake is smooth and not too sweet. It will probably pair well with any of the creamy gelato's that they will allow you to sample. I ultimately decided on the vanilla, almond, toffee. read more

Solid 3 stars for today's dining experience. My co-workers would have been much harsher with the review but I'll stick to the basics. We had reservations for a table of 10 today, but ended up with 8. The service was very slow to say the least, I understand there were holiday parties but we waited almost 2 hours from start to finish for our lunch. The appetizers we ordered sat forever, one of my pet peeves are dirty plates sitting around. Our appetizer plates were dirty, and there was even a hair in the salt shaker. Our food (once it arrived) was decent. Sadly enough one girls pasta entree was missing scallops, and the other girls salmon was prepared with cheese when she asked that it not be (both issues were resolved so that was appreciated) Would probably not recommend Angelo's again. When we asked to move to a booth on the quiet side and were told those tables were reserved. Until we finished our meals, those tables were still not occupied. We do not live anywhere near Angelo's but always eat there when traveling through. We have seen very few eateries with the quality, service and value exhibited at Angelo's. This is especially true yesterday when, during a very busy evening, when the kitchen lost our "ticket". We knew they were busy, and we were not in a hurry, but after a time we spoke up to the manager. Her name was Natalie and no one could have been more gracious! They immediately put forth an effort involving our waiter Eric, the manager and the kitchen. Our food was ready in minutes! Hot and delicious as usual. The best part was that they comped the entire bill, drinks and all!! What an experience! We always liked the place but this is another level! read more

Angelo's is great. I wasn't even in the mood for Italian food but when I saw their angry pasta I thought alright I'll given them a try. So the wife and I went for a nice little date. The setting is very nice in here, very soft and comfortable with nice old school style of seating and themes of Italian culture. We started off with fried zucchini and by golly this did not disappoint. With a serving size for 2-4 this is plenty for such a size. Big pieces with delicious sauces to aid. I'll add here too that the service is incredibly well maintained and organized here. Very fast from order to table. They have a set up here and it works very well. For our main course my wife ordered the Chicken Marsala and said it was very good but nothing above average. I myself ordered the angry pasta with added chicken and man this pasta was great. Nice pieces of hot sausage, peppers, and grilled chicken added in I ate the whole dish. We finished off with some delicious actual homemade tiramisu, it was great. We placed a delivery for one large pizza at 8 pm, and we were told it would be 1-1.5 hours. 2 hours later we called and the girl said she would call the driver and then call us back. No call back. Never disappoints me.... I love the sauce (not too sweet) and meatballs..... and I am picky about my meatballs! Been enjoying Angelos food for over 50 years. My go to is a Caesar salad, angel hair with marinara (filled with tomatoes) and large, soft meatballs. But there are so many other entrees that are just as delicious.... Eggplant parmigiana, chicken Marsala, veal parmigiana.....all perfectly prepared. The salad is always fresh, crispy croutons , and a hint of anchovy flavor. If you are not a caeser person, the homemade, creamy, Italian dressing with garlic flavor and perfect spices, is very tasty. I'm not a dessert person, but the signature forina nut tort cake is to die for, OR enjoy a homemade, flavorful gelato from the loaded bar. I suffered an almost immediate allergic reaction in my throat, which is typical of my allergy to fin fish ingredients, which were not included on the dish description. We quickly paid and returned home to recuperate. My wife followed up with a phone call, and the lady that answered listed the ingredients; including tilapia. We made reservations and got in early due to traveling - and glad we did. I wouldn't try this place without having reservations. They were busy at 4:30pm. Our server - Sam - was really good. Efficient, friendly and helpful. We started with fried calamari. It's heavy on the fry, but good. I thought it had a little kick to it. Complimentary bread is good. I tried the shrimp over polenta special. It was very good. The shrimp were huge. We also tried the linguini with clam sauce. Also very good. This place came recommended and we couldn't agree more. Who knew there would be top tier Italian food next to a minor league ball park. Angelos has a long standing history in the community here and it shows when you Wally though the door. The bar is great if you are by yourself and decide to strike up a conversation with the locals or hear about this weeks house made deserts from the bartender. I was in town on a "layover" drive from DC home and wanted something that wasn't trash for dinner. The menu looked appealing and the reviews were good enough for me to be willing to go back out for takeaway after 6 hours of driving. I ordered the minestrone soup and the fungo flatbread. The portions are more than enough with nearly a quart of soup and a 15" x 12" flatbread and the staff were kind enough to give me some extra bread and butter with my soup. The flavors were... strange. There was a metallic taste to the soup and it was more of a random vegetable soup. I'm not opposed to that, but the flavors didn't meld well. The flatbread had some sort of spicy wasabi-style aioli on it which made it less than appealing. Stopped in for dinner tonight and I can't say more great things. There was no wait, food and service was excellent-all around great experience. Lunch at the bar. Food was quite good. I had the banana peppers stuffed with house made sausage mixture in a red sauce, really quite good. I've talked to others who praised the food. The service, I have to say, was indifferent. Server seemed more interested in engaging with regulars, to the point of taking the order of one who came in after me, while I was sitting there waiting to order. I love the fresh pasta. I've eaten here twice. Both meals were good. I had the chicken marsala the first time and the shrimp scampi the second time. The bread is too hard, but have I mentioned the fresh pasta? I think I could just eat the pasta with butter. Nice staff, but I've encountered rude customers (not the fault of the restaurant).
