This is probably a 3-star review disguised as a 4-star, but the staff here are so nice, they deserve an extra star. The food is fair. Nothing terrible at all, and nothing great either. Standard sauce, pasta, etc. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and you can tell that the community loves Angelo's. This was the first time we went to Angelo's. My fiancé loves mussels and he had the at an Italian restaurant in Monroeville and when I saw Angelo's across from our hotel I thought we would go so he could have mussels again. The hostess Abby was an absolute delight and very honest when we asked her about the menu. Every question we asked Abby she went above and beyond to answer better than our waitress did. Trista was also amazing. I watched her deal with a difficult couple with a smile which is a lot harder than anyone can believe unless you have been in that position. The both of those girls were so polite and helpful. I would honestly recommend some of the waitress to take personality tips from the two of them. What is going on with Angelo's.? I first started eating in the 60's when I was in college and have been there every time I was in Washington. The last few years I have been there more frequently to meet with friends and family several times. It has always been good until a few months ago when I noticed a decline. I had dinner there with family 5/1/24 and it was awful. The service was great but the food wasn't. I didn't want to ruin the day so I didn't say anything. Today by brother told me he did not like his meal and was very dissatisfied also. 1) I asked for a Seagram's VO and 7up. I have no idea what I was given but it definitely was not VO. 2) The calamari were fried until brown surprisingly they were not rubbery but the taste was off, the oil must have been used far too many times.The marinara sauce had sriracha or other similar ingredient. WTF? 3) The fried zucchini were soggy and mushy. 4) My saltimbocca was absolutely awful. The sauce was like water and so hot it burned my lips when I tried to taste it. The veal (or pork substitution) was thick and chewy. There was very little cheese or prosciutto on the meat or swimming the sauce. My wife was going to eat my leftovers today but she said she gagged and gave it to our dogs. She said her veal parmigiana wasn't as good as usual but far better than my dinner. I rarely write reviews and most times they are positive. For me to write one this bad is a first. I'll never drive an hour and a half again to spend so much to eat there again. read more

3 stars- sat at a table directly by the restroom and service area..so nice to see everyone going in and out of the restroom...very classy. Spilled salad dressing all over the floor by the service station. Also very nice. Our waitress was friendly and did an excellent job. Food was pretty good, but this place is over commercialized. My husband and I ordered takeout while the restaurants were closed due to Covid restrictions. I had a panini which came with fries and coleslaw, and my husband ordered the meatball Sandwich which came with the same sides. The portions were great and the meal was very filling. The Diet Coke tasted was more sweet than usual, and was really good (weird to comment on pop, I know!). Inside the restaurant they had a gelato station and a full bar in another room. I really loved the atmosphere inside the restaurant and wished I could've eaten inside. We plan to return next year when hopefully the Washington Wild Things are playing again and Covid restrictions are lifted. Second time here, again for another party, and when we checked in for our reservation, there were glasses of water and menus set out our table already when we were seated. The waitress was kind and friendly as well from the time we were sat until the time we finished. The waitress was spot on with refills and what not. High praise in deed! The first restaurant we have actually eaten at -sit down- since March when the COVID crisis began. Angelo's is doing everything right and should be a model for all restaurants . During this crazy time of heightened precautions. Staff is masked. Additionally Outdoor dining has been added. Indoor dining is well spaced. Hand sanitizer is in multiple locations throughout the establishment. Paper menus are uses and disposed of. The staff remains friendly and takes the new restrictions seriously. Our server was incredibly and the food was delicious as always. She made a 13yr olds birthday feel special and normal in a time when other restaurants may not have. Glad to see they are busy. Long-standing family-run local Italian restaurant in relatively new facility. Menu is not cookie-cutter - there are some interesting dishes that we've not seen elsewhere. Generous portions, reasonable prices, prompt, attentive service. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. Gelato bar out front looked very promising, but we were too full of rather tasty dinner food - a seafood pasta, veal marsala, and a very nice risotto. read more

First time eating here tonight. The food and atmosphere was amazing! The dessert was to die for and loved the gelato bar. The service however wasn't amazing. The server wasn't very friendly to begin with, but that can be blamed on a bad day im sure, but more unforgiving is that she didn't offer us any bread while other tables had it , forgot to bring a refill after I asked and didnt come back for quite some time, we were already finisued eating at that point- didnt offer my husband a side with his entree while menu stated it came with one, and gave me the wrong version of the dish I chose. (Gave me pepper cream sauce chicken instead of the lemon pepper I ordered) The chicken was indeed splendid anyways. When I brought it up polity stating it was amazing id like to know what it is to get it next time and asked what the chicken was she lied and said it was the lemon. When I got the check, it clearly stated that it was pepper cream. I didnt even want it changed out I just expected a honest answer especially from such a great business with deep roots in the community. It was really disappointing not knowing what I was eating as it didn't taste like what I thought I ordered and i had nothing to reference it. Everything was perfect! We reserved a room for an adult birthday party for 16. The room was ready when we arrived and we were greeted by our server, Daniel. Danial provided exceptional service all evening. I ask him for recommendations for shareable appetizers and his suggestions were spot on perfect. They were a hit! The variety of dinners were all delicious. Incredibly all 16 meals arrived together and everything was served piping hot. Angelo's has been one of my favorite Italian restaurants for many, many years. The spaghetti and tomato sauce is my go-to entrée: flavorful sauce with the perfect amount of "chunkiness" and pasta that's perfectly cooked every time. I've also branched out to try some other dishes, and found them to be delicious as well. The house salad dressing is a unique Creamy Italian, and the bread is crusty, chewy awesomeness. The wine selection isn't extensive, but it's perfectly suited for the Italian dishes being offered. They have a rather large, semi-enclosed outdoor seating area in addition to a lighted dining room, and a dimmed bar area. We prefer the bar or the bar side high-tops, but the food is always consistently wonderful no matter where we sit! Staffing appears to be a current problem: be prepared to wait for service at busier times. This was never an issue prior to Covid, so they get a free pass for this until life returns to normal. The prices are incredibly reasonable -- $10 for a salad, bread, and a plate of spaghetti that's big enough for two meals! In short, don't go here expecting a quick dining experience, but if you have time for a leisurely meal you will not be disappointed. read more

Angelo's has been a tradition in little Washington for decades. Their new location is conveniently located near Washington Crown Center, and is nice enough. Their food is very good traditional Italian fare, no disappointments. We have sampled the fried zucchini, Arancini, flatbreads and pasta, and only the flatbread was maybe a little underwhelming. It's not an upscale experience, but on the two recent visits there the kitchen has generally delivered on its promises. Service is very good, and they have a tempting gelato bar that I will try next time, if I can avoid filling up. Feel free to be casually dressed. My wife and I are in town for work and I heard great things about Angelo's so we made the hour trip to come and dine there. Boy was I disappointed...for starters the host looked disgusted when we asked her if we could have the seats cleaned off that were full of crumbs and food before we sat down. When she returned she began to wipe down the table and stated "I don't know why y'all need the table wiped down again" to which I replied the table is fine we just wanted the booth seat wiped down and cleared of all the food and crumbs on it so we didn't have to sit in it which she did wipe down. Waitress arrived and took or drink order then left which was fine. When she returned we asked if the shrimp was fresh or frozen and she scoffed telling me "of course it's frozen do you know how far from the coast we are?" Which is not a problem I appreciate the honesty but she didn't have to talk to me like I'm stupid. I'm from the gulf coast and I travel the country for work and I can tell the difference in fresh and frozen but she didn't have to talk to me like I'm stupid. Many restaurants have fresh shrimp and other seafood brought in daily and some use frozen it's cool just don't belittle someone for asking. We asked if we could have some bread while we changed or orders and continued to look over the menu to which we were told "I'll bring y'all some bread once y'all order food". Like what did I have this grand master scheme to come order drinks and then cheat you out of bread? I ordered another dish and to be honest she pissed me and my wife off so bad we canceled it and just went to Olive Garden which was great and I'd recommend going there instead of this rude ass place. Service at this place is horrible, rude staff, and I would not recommend coming here. I was going to spend over $100 on dinner and dessert and their rude condescending service turned me away. I will never come back when I'm in this part of PA and I wish 0 stars was an option because that's what they deserve. read more

This was a great experience. We went for a friends 40th birthday. The food was excellent and service even better. Lisa did a great job with providing excellent service. She had a great sense of humor and went out of her way to make our experience unique. The Pasta Scoglio tasted delicious and the seafood cooked perfectly. The Tiramisu was wonderful, one of the best I have had. Their house ranch was a hit with the group. Also, not to mention, the numerous flavors of gelato. Make sure you save room for desert! We visited yesterday for the first time (it was our 24th anniversary dinner), and we can't wait to come back! From start to finish, it was a fabulous experience. We were greeted with a smile as soon as we talked in the door, and although it was our first visit, everyone treated us like we were regulars. Our waiter was Patrick, and he struck the perfect balance of being attentive without being intrusive. We started with the roasted tomatoes and the mussels - the portions were incredibly generous, and they set the tone for a great meal. My husband ordered Pasta Diablo, and I ordered Pasta Silvio. Again, the portions were beyond generous, and everything was cooked to perfection. For dessert, my husband had gelato, and I splurged with a flourless chocolate torte and a scoop of tiramisu gelato. We stopped here on our way home from a visit to Fallingwater, the Frank Lloyd Wright Kaufmann home. What a great end to a good day! We like to test an Italian restaurant by the spaghetti and meatballs, and I was happy to find spaghetti aglio e olio. We were not disappointed. Sauce was perfect, meatballs were perfect, and the aglio e olio had a lovely taste of buttery olive oil. We shared a nice bright chopped salad which was just as I like it- fresh, simple and dressed with lemon, a perfect lead-up to the pasta. This is not a chain! The physical space is fresh and interesting with a gelato case at one end, open kitchen, and nice subdued lighting. There is a barrel ceiling in plaster which is warmed by the wood tones. The staff is professional and warm. We will return whenever we are in the area again! read more

The chopped salad and a flatbread pizza. The flatbread was as good as ever but the lemon dressing on the salad was flat. It was disappointing. Chunks of sautéed green and red peppers with white onions, that weren't even cooked through, as a side vegetable to chicken piccata that was smothered in capers? Not good! At least serve a standard side vegetable or don't serve one at all, especially when zucchini and squash and fresh green beans are in season! read more

Very disappointed in our meal last night. We ordered zucchini which wasn't too bad but the main meals were absolutely horrible. The sauce was disgusting. The ravioli was bad the chicken parm bad the panini inedible even the cheeseburger was bad. Waited forever to get our food and then everything came out at once the salad, zucchini and meal. Our server was so nice and was working very hard to accommodate the patio customers. We will not be back. Sad because we work hard all week to afford a nice meal out and $120 for food that was not eaten is unacceptable. read more

Such mixed reviews on this place. When we got there, the table they were going to seat us at wasn't clean so we had to stand by the table and wait while they wiped it down. We went during happy hour and we were told the happy hour deals did not apply to us because we weren't sitting in a certain part of the restaurant. That doesn't seem right. The service was also incredibly slow. We went on a Monday night and there were only about 6 filled tables, yet we ended up being there over 2 hours and most of that time was spent waiting. The food on the other hand was great! You could tell how fresh it was. The portions are huge as well. I got the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. I would get it again. My favorite part about Angelo's was the gelato. They had so many options to choose from and the display was mouthwatering. The salted caramel gelato was so good. This place has been a favorite for many years. We've had some really great meals and great service. Every once in a while things are off. When it's off it's off. Anywhere can't be perfect all the time. I had lasagna there yesterday that was plain awful! No visible cheese of any type. The meat was seasoned strongly and tough. My side salad was fresh and the house creamy Italian dressing my favorite. They used to have nice sized salami and provolone topped on the salad. They have been getting smaller and smaller....on my salad yesterday; why bother? I will go back but lasagna isn't going to be one of my go to orders for some time. This is very standard American-Italian fare. I wasn't blown away nor was I disappointed. It simply is what it is. I don't know if I'd agree with the prices of some of the offerings, but the pastas and sandwiches were on point. My friend got the sandwich and I got the meat and cheese ravioli. He indulged his sandwich and fries. My meat and cheese ravioli was alright except I think they dumped WAY too much sauce on the ravioli. I hate it when there isn't an even consistency with such a simple dish. Service was so-so. The girl said she was fairly new, and it was obvious. She forgot to put my salad order in, and didn't refill out waters for a long while. She was too busy goofing off with her fellow co-workers in the kitchen. We sat right next to it where we could see and hear all the activity. My recommendation is this - if you want a meal with no thrills or bells and whistles - this is where to come.
