I came in today for a full acrylic set and a pedicure for my birthday. The pedicure was wonderful and the lady who helped me was nice throughout the entire experience but I can't honestly say she did a good job. The acrylic nails weren't done right and from the jump in the photo of the nails that I showed her I wanted clear diamonds but they only had iridescent/rainbow diamonds and she didn't tell me till it came down to applying it. I ended up not getting it and was frustrated because that was the main portion of the design. She did my nails unevenly and I even told her that it was uneven and all she said was "Okay." Then kept going. Each time I tried to look at my nails so I could correct her because I'm not going to want to spend a lot of money on a set if it isn't done right. She wouldn't let me look at my hands and each time I tried to, mind you while she wasn't working on THAT hand she would tell me to either move it infront of the fan or back to her. My nails came out way too chunky and uneven. I talked to the boss as well because I really was not happy with the lack of communication and the ability to work with me and she kept telling me "oh nothings wrong, she had to make it too thick because your nail bed is really thick" even though I've never come across that problem at other salons? She also cut up my fingers pretty badly which was hurting the entire time. I'm really sad because I really liked this shop and had a lot of good experiences here otherwise but this one was just ridiculous and now I'm out $105 for nails that weren't even done correctly. Owner offered to redo them for free which I appreciate but I don't think I'll be coming back. The environment for me is too uncomfortable now and I could tell when I kept trying to tell her I didn't like the way she was doing something there was a hostile atmosphere. read more

Lately, gel pedicures at my usual go to shop have been peeling off quickly. I went to Angie's a few times in the past and have always had good service. My last gel pedicure lasted very long and did not chip or peel off quickly. The quality of their work is great. They were a little limited on color. I wanted a milky white color, but they only had pure white. I didn't have an appointment, and they were able to work me in right away. read more

Decided to give this place a try from finding them on yelp. All the pictures on yelp looked promising. I went in hoping to find an opaque nude color for the gel manicure at $25. The nail technician did not speak a lick of English and had no idea I was saying when I asked for certain requests or when I told her the color was not coming out as I expected. She just kept painting on until I spoke to the manager who speaks English. They put on nail cuticle oil on my arm with lotion as a massage at the end of the service, but the nail cuticle oil was never placed on my actual nail cuticle during the manicure. Originally, I was going to get a pedicure, but changed my mind after I saw the terrible results of my gel manicure. The coats were uneven, there were bubbles, and you can see the edges of my nail bed. I gave her full tip because it was the holiday, but I was extremely dissatisfied with my nails. The quality of the work did not match the pictures of work previously done on yelp. Will be going elsewhere this week to get them redone. read more

Dude it used to be 20 A set and they looked GOOD, these nails look like garbage and are SO THICK AND CHUNKY MY ACTUAL NAIL HAS BEEN RIPPED OFF, and to make it worse she cut my cuticles so far back with a DRILL, they bled and she had to put oil after.. they are disgustingly thick, she lapped the cramp on there basically. I paid $50 for a terrible nail job and a swollen infected finger with plastic melted acrylic ON MY NAIL BED. She needs to Learn how to do nails!!! One week ago I got a gel manicure at another nail salon that refused to fix the paint that chipped off. I refuse to pay for someone to fix their mistake. I had noticed the sign in the window at Fabulous Nails stating under new management then read the review by another yelper and thought I would give it a try. So glad I did! I saw Angie on Saturday and so far so good. My nails still look good. Even though she was quick and efficient, she took her time and explained everything she was doing. This place used to be Nail Stop but after the new owners took over they renamed it Fabulous Nails and Spa. Before going to Fabulous Nails I only got my nails done for special occasions because I hated how fake nails always felt on my fingers. However, a few weeks ago I was feeling all bummy and my mom suggested I should do something to make myself feel pretty, so a day doing girlie things and getting my nails done was what I did. Le did an awesome job on my nails, so well that I have been going back to get them filled which I have never done before. I loved that they felt really natural on my fingers and didn't feel like they were fake. His wife is also really good at pedicures and tips. They have gel polish and airbrush as well as crackle designs and glitter tips. They also do waxing, piercing and paraffin wax for hands and feet. Also, if you mention you are a first time customer and get a set or pedicure you will get a free nail design or paraffin wax. Everyone who works in the shop is extremely friendly and Le is very quick to offer you soda, water or coffee. The only reason why they loose a star is because often when someone comes in to get a eyebrow wax Le will leave and take care of the customer while in the middle of the manicure. (I think he is the only one who does the waxing)That sorta irks me because I'm not paying to wait for you to wax someones eyebrows while I'm sitting there waiting, but like I said they do a great job and I highly recommend them for your tips, fills and pedicures. I have been coming to the shop for a long time , at least 5 years . Not sure what happen . I get it's a small location but not enough help. I only like one girl to do my pedis & specially asked for her when I made my appointment, when I showed up she was with another customers which left Angie's mom to do my pedicure. She's sweet even though she does not speak my same language, but she does not do a very good job . Looks like a kid did my pedi. It was sloppy, needed another coat. Best pedicure I've ever had. Been going to Angie's Nail Shop for about 5 years. The shop is very clean, calm atmosphere, and never rushed.

By far the worst manicure I've ever had. It was definitely not worth the $20 (yes, $20 for a manicure) that I paid for it. Walking in, I found that there were no other customers, just two employees watching football and playing on cell phones. I asked for a gel manicure and was given a bunch of CDs with acrylic nails of varying shades glued to them. I picked the color I wanted and we moved on with the manicure. Most of my manicure was set to the soundtrack of silence. OH wait no, football was on. What woman wants to go to get a manicure and watch football? I even told her I DON'T like football when she asked! And they kept it on! (And yes, I'm aware plenty of women enjoy football; I do not.) Up until this point, I wasn't really annoyed or upset or anything. But then the worst part came. I have a cut on the top of my right pointer finger. It was almost healed but somehow she managed to rip it right the frick open. It started bleeding (duh) and she immediately grabbed a bottle of blue stuff and puts the tip RIGHT INTO MY BLOODY FINGER. My thoughts went something like: "is this really happening?" and "I wonder how many other people's blood has been on this?" and "what diseases will I be contracting today?" When it didn't stop bleeding, she put super glue on it. Without asking me. I mean, that's fine, I would have asked her to do that anyway, but she super glued the dried blood to my finger and nail. To top off all of this, it was a shitty manicure anyway. Not ONE of my nails has a full cover of top coat on it. And if you've ever had a gel manicure, you know the top coat is VERY important. And a few of my nails are bubbled as well. This morning (about 15 hours after the manicure was done), I have a crack in one of the nails. Cherry on the whole sundae? I told her I was getting my nails done as a special treat since I'm getting engagement photos done this weekend. Apparently that didn't warrant doing a good job. Had I realized any of the issues before I left, I would have said something. And considering I'm flying to Boston in mere hours, I won't be going back to get them fixed either. The likelihood of me redoing my own nails before the pictures? About 99%. TL;DR: poor health practices, bad results, and very little customer service. That plus being expensive = never coming back. UPDATE 9/29: Obviously I had to remove this horrendous manicure before my engagement photos, and I basically had to remove the top layer of my nail just to get it off. My nails and skin are STILL recovering from this horror, not to mention that the cut on my finger was infected for a solid 4 days afterwards (when it previously wasn't infected at all because I'm a clean person). This had to be my worst experience getting my nails done. I am so angry! The nails were poorly shaped, poorly painted, poorly done and over priced! I got a fill and Angie messed up the nice work that was previously done from the last nail shop. I walked into Angie's nail salon and the lights were off. She was giving a guy a pedicure in the dark with a standing lamp over his feet. My instinct told me to leave but I wanted to be nice and give her a chance. BIG MISTAKE! Always trust your instincts! I got a pedicure and fill. She did my pedicure in the dark with the lamp over my feet. The pink coat on my toes was too thin but I could not tell because it was dark and she did one of my big toes with more coats then the other toes. When she turned the light on I asked for another coat and she said it was to late because she put the top coat on. I didn't notice how jagged and poorly shaped my two big toes were until I got home. A 10 year old could have done a better job on my $45 pedicure! Now moving on to my fill. I had got a beautiful design with jewels from a previous nails shop. They were nicely constructed and lasted 2 weeks. Angie's nails lasted TWO days! Three of my nails are already lifting significantly and are getting ready to come off! I'm on day two of my vacation in the Caribbean and now there is no way to fix my nails. The worst part is she overcharges! She took 3 hours and charge me $70 for a messed up FILL and $45 for a messed up pedicure. When I tried to question her she kept talking over me and then said she would give me a 5 percent discount and changed it to $65. It's not a discount if it's over priced in the first place. Plus I heard her giving the same 5 percent discount to the guy who was getting a pedicure before me. I tipped her $10 because I can't help but tip even when the job is bad. So I paid $114 for ugly nails that lasted TWO days! And I had to reshape my nails myself when I got home! read more

I rarely pay for a manicure but was curious about trying the gel polish and this place is close to where I live. Tracy removed most of the old blue nail polish from my nails and when I mentioned that there was still some left she said she'd get to it later. She never did and I had bits of blue polish along the edges of my nails. The gel polish application was very poor. On one nail the polish barely covered half my nail and on another the tip of the nail was missing colour. Small bubbles kept forming while the polish was being applied and when I mentioned this she covered the bubbles with more gel polish. I'm not a confrontational person so I paid for the manicure (25$ for gel polish) and even left a tip. Two hours later the layers in the gel manicure started to CRACK so I had three fingers with cracked polish and little leftover flecks of blue polish from my prior colour. The UV light used to set the polish did something weird to the pink colour I chose because as the day went on the colour became a mottled pink and orange colour like two different colours had been swirled on my nail. I had the manicure as a treat for a wedding I'm attending today and my nails looked so bad I ended up having to remove the polish myself and re-do my nails. I won't be going back. read more

Thanks to an unfortunate accident with a wheelchair and a non-ADA compliant door (thank you very much Sunrise JC Penny!!), I had a huge bloody chunk taken out of my toenail last week. I decided this was best handled by a professional. I made an appointment, because I had a tight schedule. I didn't need one, as when I came in I was the only patron for the three employees working. I was greeted by name as soon as I came in (yes, I'm punctual, but I was surprised that the girl already knew my name when she greeted me from across the store). I was immediately seated in a massage chair after I chose my polish color, and shown the 3 options for pedicures, ranging from $20-$30. I opted for the $25 "Luxury Pedicure." The service lasted an hour, and she did a great job! I told her in advance that I realized that I was missing part of my nail and i didn't expect perfection, just as even as she could get it. I chose a light color to make is less obvious. She spent an extra long time shaping the nail, so that now you can only tell it was broken off if you knew it was...MUCH better than I expected!! I opted to pay the extra $5 for the cute flower design. Because of the fast, friendly service, great result, and good price, I may actually find myself frequenting this salon! read more

DON'T GO to this place, especially for a gel polish. I see in the reviews that someone else had the same rotten experience I did. I have the feeling that while the young woman who does gel polish at this salon is very sweet and tries to be careful, she is simply not capable. My gel polish was applied too thickly and was bubbly from leaving my nails under the UV light for too long a time (also the UV light my right hand was under kept blinking on & off). I had bits of polish on my skin because the paint job was sloppy. Within an hour after my manicure the gel had completely cracked off of my nails - I was outraged! The cost was $20. I might as well have thrown my money in the street. I returned to the salon the next day and explained to the man who seems to be the manager what had happened. He argued with me and kept telling me "come back tomorrow". I refused to leave. He kept insisting that I owed "ten dollars for the manicure" and that the young woman who had applied the polish would refund me the other ten dollars "tomorrow - come back tomorrow"!!!!! I stood my ground. Finally, finally the man agreed to give me $10. I felt entirely cheated, but I accepted the $10 and went to a quality nail shop (Golden Nails on Freeport - excellent shop) to have a decent gel polish applied. This place does more than nail's, mani's and pedi's. They have the best eye brow waxing in town!!! Omg! My daughter and I had our eyebrows done here and we are so impressed. The gentleman who works there is frickin amazing! Wax, tweezing, a little trim and BOOM! Magic! Two eyebrows instead of one, we opted for the additional upper lip waxing and now are hair free. We've been to many places over the years and had the people in the past leave us surprised looking, or the really thin almost non existent brows and the dreaded dead caterpillars look (no arch and looking like two dead caterpillars).This will not happen here:) Hairy women of Sac, 7 dollars for beautiful brows. First time visit on 09/27. Took an hour off work early morning to come in for a gel mani as my current one was beginning to peel off. Was greeted by a nice man and sat down immediately. The nail tech who worked on most of my manicure did a good job except she cut my cuticles a little too far back and not straight, resulting in very messy looking gel polish. Before she applied the second coat I brought it to her attention that the polish wasn't looking right. She said it was the gel polish color that made it look like that so I asked her to please change the color because a 2nd coat was not going to fix what looked bad. I chose another color and mentioned that if the new polish gave off the same appearance, then we really couldn't blame the polish a second time, at that point it would have been the manner in which she cut my cuticles. The nail tech essentially lost it at this point and got very flustered and said she would take it all off and just do a regular manicure. So she proceeded to yank off the gel polish and started digging into my already cut back cuticles. You know the feeling when you peel back a cuticle too far? That's how all my fingers felt. Anyway, to cut this miserable story short--I didn't have time to wait for regular nail polish to dry so I just wanted to pay for the gel polish removal....so we go to pay the $7 fee and I had a $100 bill, a debit card, and an Amex. She couldn't change the large bill, Ok. The card machine was slow on network and couldn't read my first card, Ok. They don't accept Amex. Now what. All of a sudden, she offers to go to the back and change the large bill. Now it was turn to get an attitude. I am really going to hand a large bill to a random mom and pop and have them change it in the back? Um no. At this point, the originally nice man gets involved now frustrated and runs my card, it read, and we are done. I probably should have said nothing, but I asked him, "I just paid you for removing my gel and screwing up my nails and cuticles--you have your money, I leave with nothing, so what is your attitude about?" He starts ranting about how I've complained the entire time and I wasted the nail tech's time, and I wasn't bleeding. I let my temper get the better of me and started yelling at this point--I took time off work, she cut my cuticles too far back and they hurt (with tools that did not appear to be pre-sanitized, no less), I paid them and still leave with nothing, and they are getting mad at me? I stormed out with the nice man yelling unintelligibly and wagging his finger at me. Oh well. Today, I wake up for work with sore fingers and no polish. If you have any semblance of standards in where you choose to get manicures, I highly do not recommend this place. They don't seem to sanitize their tools or use individual nail files/buffers. The UV light machine isn't on a timer, you just leave your hands in them until the nail tech reminds you to remove your hand. I don't know...unprofessional. I spend $25-35 every two weeks plus tip for gel manicures, so I'm really sorry...I have high expectations for where I spend my money. I won't ever come back to this place and I will also verbally regale this saga to any woman in Sacramento willing to listen. read more
