With mom and dad presence I felt like home , a nostalgic heart warming feelings at one of my aunts/ uncles house for a meal. Unfortunately the young lady needs improvement , on her customers service skills. All though she has her mask on, her tone of voice seems cold and unwelcoming. The restaurant doesn't have much of an esthetic ambience, walls decorated with Khmer Angkor paintings, other part of the restaurant were cluttered. Nonetheless the food and the friendly inviting atmosphere with the both parents what stood out to me . #25 BBQ pork / steam rice with egg $15.99 Definitely recommend, the pork was moist , loads of flavors with a hint of lemongrass. #28 BBQ pork & Eggroll vermicelli Bowl $13.99 . The pork was well seasoned and the accompany sauce blended well together with the noodle salad. #38 beef lok lak $19.99 comes with rice , salt lime pepper sauce and lettuce , tomato . We came here on Cambodian Nee Year weekend and so happy we did. The food is authentically Cambodian and it is run by a friendly Cambodian family - the parents do the cooking and at least one of the children helps to serve. We ordered the soup with Kreung, two difference types of pho, rice porridge, orange chicken, and the pad Thai chicken. We also ordered the pork vermicelli and the lok lak. All of the dishes were great and prepared well and quickly. Everything twe had was absolutely delicious. The main soup, kreung, was very authentic and had all the right flavors. The pho and the porridge was also delicious, though I will say the beef ball pho had less flavor than the Cambodian pho we had. The porridge was also delicious with garlic flavors. The pad Thai had great, typical flavors, though the chicken was a bit dry. I loved the orange chicken, which came with rice and a delicious egg roll. The orange chicken had so much flavor and even came with some veggies and I think pineapple. Our favorite was the Chinese fried donut, which they have made fresh for the store. It was super delicious. The desserts they have made for them on the weekend, sesame balls and the sweet and savory donut, were both so delicious. We truly enjoyed everything that we had, which is why we came two days in a row. My only regret is that they've been open for almost 20 years and we haven't tried them earlier. I wish this spot impressed me more due to its high ratings online. My friend and I got here about an hour and a half before closing. The place was empty at our arrival with some regulars trickling in throughout our time there. We ordered two main dishes: salmon curry and beef stir fry, and swapped one of our sides of rice with chicken chow mein. We didn't realize the noodles were going to be such a huge portion and were surprised! However, the beef was a bit tougher than expected and didn't shine as a stir fry. The salmon curry had a good amount of fragrance, and the curry sauce was not spicy at all, despite ordering "spicy." The heat primarily came from a chopped green pepper (possibly jalapeño?) with seeds. The chicken in the chow mein was somewhat dry, but this dish was our favorite. The dishes themselves had deep sweet, salty, and savory flavors. I'm not exactly sure if shrimp paste was used, but there seemed to be a concentrated fishy flavor going on that was too pungent for my liking. Perhaps this is just with the dishes we ordered, but I would recommend trying something else off the menu! As a customer, I'd recommend researching the dishes that best represent Cambodian cuisine & asking the waiter for their recommendations. What did stand out was the politeness and attentiveness of our waiter. Knowing this is a family restaurant, I wish I could've loved this spot more. Although the food wasn't quite to my taste, the place was clean, the plating and service were excellent, and my friend enjoyed the meal. I was surprised that there was a Cambodian restaurant here in Fresno since I am from interstate and was just stopping by overnight. There aren't many Cambodian restaurants where we are from and I was missing some home cooked food, I thought this place would help to hit the spot. There are plenty of parking spots in front of the restaurant. When we pulled up, we were a bit confused if was still a Cambodian or Vietnamese restaurant since it also had the word Pho displayed outside. There was only one other table occupied when we arrived on a weeknight. It is a family run restaurant, so it is definitely authentic home style cooked Cambodian food. The Angkor special had a sweet soup base and was delicious. It was accompanied with a generous amount of mint leaves and bean sprouts to add into the soup dish. The rice noodle with pork dish definitely hit the spot. Although it was missing peanuts on the side which it's normally meant to come with (most probably wouldn't have known this unless you are Cambodian), I asked the server for a side of peanuts and she kindly went to get me some. The restaurant is clean and safe. Good music playing. The workers are masked. The order wasn't ready yet when we arrived on time. We waited. There were people eating in the restaurant enjoying their lunches. Wow! My mother had a fit! She watched the worker drop part of our food order(the shrimp spring rolls) and she actually picked it up and gave it to my mother. Shocked! My mother told her she watched her drop it and give it to her. The worker got freaked out by mother. My mother ordered her to make a fresh order. Of course, we waited longer for fresh after that was done. Hope they don't do that to other customers. We got back to have it and I set it all up. The chicken pho was really good! We had an awesome experience dining experience at Angkor. We love Cambodian food and were looking for the classics. We ordered lok lak (marinated beef served with tomato, lettuce, lemon pepper dipping sauce), somlor machu kreung (sweet and sour lemongrass soup with all trimmings), bbq pork and vermicelli noodles with egg rolls served with their sweet dipping sauce which is a must, and some non-Cambodian dishes but still delicious--orange chicken and pad Thai. The classics were each a home run experience--tasted just like eating at home except I wouldn't make it at home because it takes too long. Haha! The flavors are complex and SO DELICIOUS! Very nice sized portions--you're definitely getting your bang for your buck. The pad Thai and orange chicken, although not authentic Cambodian dishes we also well-made. We also enjoyed those! The egg rolls were on point, well stuffed and crispy! The server was nice and friendly, the restaurant was spacious--I easily got around in my wheelchair with enough space between tables. First time ever I've seen fried chicken as a side with papaya salad but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Generous serving. Fresh, sour, sweet, and medium spice was perfect in salad. Only complaint is that I requested for Thai style and it looks quite clear to me that I received Laos style. (Thai is typically very dark colored sauce). Not sure if this is their version of Thai. Combo pho 8/10 Broth was very delicious. Noodles were bouncy. I had a nasty hangover and this pho broth did it's job in hitting the spot. Would come here again with family and friends. Been here a few times before. Open space, plenty of seating. Usually come here for the rice porridge whenever I have the cravings for it or sometimes I would call to pick up my order. They are very friendly. Once we enter we are always greeted and you can usually choose where you sit. Today for dinner we got the usual rice porridge with shrimp spring rolls. For some reason today the service was a bit slow, and they are not usually like that. It felt a while until we got our order especially the spring rolls. We were almost done with the rice porridge and we were still waiting on the spring rolls. The rice porridge is very good and consistent every time we come. It never disappoints. Very flavorful and I would have to say it's second best after pho. Definitely hits the spot when I'm hung over or sick or just simply craving it. Second visit here in the last few days. I tried a couple other items here but they were NOT very good. The beef skewers were tough and had a lot of gag in them. I gummed it out and left a pile on the plate. They are so beautiful in the pictures and made me actually drive across town to try them. That's right, the pictures 'MADE ME!' My #15 Pho was terrible and had a bunch of blubber and gristle in it that I didn't even bother trying to eat and just loaded on the plate. The meatballs were gross and I didn't realize there was slivered tongue in it! Yuck. The broth was good but that's about it. My fault entirely since when I inquired the waitress simply said, "It has everything in it." Next time I'll do some more investigating on just what the 'everything' is... Hoof scrapings and inedible carcass parts seemed to fall under that catchall. Still loved the items I had the first visit but these we're not good. As I'm Khmer, I come here from time to time with my family. It's refreshing to have a Cambodian restaurant here as there's not too many and it's near me as well. The food is good, my favorite is the Salaw Machukreun (however it's spelled) but I wish it came with rice as it was $20+ for just the salaw. I do understand that there's a lot of ingredients to make it raising the price high but to add the rice basically made it $25-30. But.. hey I'd still get it. The 4 star rating is not only for the price but the service, no one was rude but I felt like it can be better. And regarding the price, it's just more on the pricier end compared to other Asian restaurants around! Would I still come back though? Yes! And would I recommend? If you're looking for a Cambodian restaurant, yes! I still very much enjoy the food and would come back with my family. read more

My fiancee and I just went here: we were craving take-out, and this place randomly came to mind. I had not been in a few years. I'm sad to report, like many of my south-of-Shaw suggestions, that Angkor did not impress the fiancee. To her credit, it was in noticeably bad shape: only two of the tables were occupied by customers, but none of the others were free of dirty dishes. There were only two employees (cook and waiter) and the waiter made some unusual comments during our order (insisting, for example, that one of the dishes we ordered was not vegetarian because it included tofu, and he tried dissuading me from my original choice, presumably because it was too spicy). We decided to wait outside in the hundred-degree heat as our dishes were being prepared. I give this place four stars because my preferred dish (gao lao soup) is just as good as when I first had it many years ago. My fiancee ordered a chow mien: she said it was greasy but otherwise good. Ultimately, I judge a place by its food, but Angkor probably could use an extra pair of hands to clear plates. read more

We order sweet and sour catfish soup and ask for not sweet.. it's came out perfect and was very hot...I love it!! They serve in a good size bowl. And hot rice plates thst still steaming. We don't have big appetite so we pack to go and the next day the soup is still good as it's came out ... we order their other foods too ...flavorful, not greedy with their ingredients like some other restaurant do..if you in town n feeling khmer authentic foods stop by Angkor Restaurant.. you won't disappoint. I've been here multiple times and every time is outstanding! My family loves to eat here and it's become the family favorite. My dad is from Cambodia and sometimes when he doesn't want to cook he knows he can get delicious Cambodian food made by someone else! Obviously my favorite are the beef sticks which is something I order EVERY TIME. Went to Fresno for the first time and had to try this Cambodian restaurant. I was very amazed at the how delicious and FRESH their food was. Not only was it great in taste but all the veggies were fresh in everything we ordered. The veggies were even cooked perfect enough to be fresh and not wilted. This place is unique because it offers high quality Cambodian food but they also had a hot table for food on the go! How convenient for people who are craving Cambodian food but don't want to sit and order. I came straight here from the airport which is less than 2 miles away, btw. I purposely starved myself knowing that I will be heading here upon arrival into Fresno. I've been here once and ordered a beef soup (salaw machu takoun) that was really good and really big which left no room for me to try anything else. I was really excited to be able to try some different dishes this time. I imagined all day that I was gonna have some beef lok lak, a Cambodian staple, and to my disappointment they don't make it there :( There I go assuming. So I ordered some Khmer beef skewers that were excellent. Perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of lemon grass and other Cambodian spices. The pickled carrots and daikon seemed like they had the life sucked out of them. Looked pretty dry, probably pre-plated well before the rest of the dish was ready, like yesterday. I ordered some pad see ew which I guess would be mee katang but it was missing something that i can't really put into words...the thing that's supposed to set Khmer noodles apart from Thai noodles and this one lacked that "thing." Service was good, our waitress was very sweet. I don't have the pleasure of eating Cambodian food very often especially living in Vegas but my BFF lives in Fresno and I'll be sure to come back here every time. For a taste of authentic Cambodian cuisine, this is your place, possibly not the most authentic Cambodian Cuisine to Cambodians or the most tasty for them when they compare it to their mums cooking, but this is the place you or I can get Cambodian taste in Fresno. Cambodian food is often overlooked when it comes to food since they are squished between heavyweights Thailand and Vietnam, but once you try their food you will be surprise with how good the flavors are especially for those of us with the fondness to spicy foods. Cambodia's food is often all about the contrasts--sweet and bitter, salty and sour, fresh and cooked. At Angkor they serve a variety of Cambodian dishes, but they also have Chinese favorites, Vietnamese favorites and also Thai favorites, so I guess everyone has a wide choice here, but I think coming here ordering Cambodian is the way to go. Key items to order includes the salmon khmer styled curry, stir fried crab legs, steamed noodle seafood, beef salad, rice soups. I ordered the ach Ko Jakak, which simply means "beef stick." for $10.99. Oh it is way more than just a beef stick, and what makes it so special is the kroueng used flavor it. Kroueng is the name of a wide variety of aromatic flavor bases used in Khmer cooking. Their beef sticks here is nice and juicy and grilled to perfection. I do love the intense flavor of the spice blend, its very refreshing. The taste of fresh lemongrass and bay leaves, thyme, lemon zest, lime zest, ginger, and crushed garlic was prominent. I also sampled their Thai selection, so I ordered the Shrimp Pad thai for $9.99. They flavors was delicious and the serving is huge, their version is different from the intense Pad thai flavors I like, basically in translation it was sweet, salty and sour, but in perfect balance, yet it lacked that burning wok taste and it was reddish in color. The flavor was delish, yet I can't say the pad thai is the best impression of this place, because its good but its not great, next time I would just stick to their Cambodian styles. I would definitely be back to try more of their dishes here, especially the Cambodian selections because it was yum and so unique to the Fresno metro. My family of 5. (2 adults and 3 kids) went to have pho at this restaurant. We ordered 4 pho's being the youngest child shared a bowl with her dad. When it came time to pay the lady calculated $38 and proceeded to calculate on her calculator $5.50 and added it on the tax. I questioned "Why is tax so much?" and she replied "When you have a family of 5 or more we add in 15% tax." I found this very weird. It's not like I don't tip.
