I've been here several times over the years. The food is definitely not what it used to be. Scenery, and service is good. Prices are extremely high for what you get, but I wouldn't think otherwise due to its location. I still enjoy the atmosphere, and the large parking lot which is suitable for cars and golf carts. Patio in the back has great views that you can relax to and watch manatees and other sea animals jump and swim around to. I recommend going at least once. Clean place, good service and workers, the food could and used to be better. I'll go back again at some point to watch a football game or two and relax on the patio. read more

Initially, we waited a while for service and had to go in to ask the hostess who our server was? We realized we were on island time and just laughed about it and this is why I couldn't give a 5 star review. Our waitress, Careena welcomed us enthusiastically with a million dollar smile. So refreshing and worth the wait! The menu has a large selection with something for everyone even a special Dog Menü for Sunny. Our food was delicious with beautiful presentation as well. read more

We have been hitting the Florida restaurant scene this week as hard as a sledgehammer. We have been amazed at the very high level of food we have found in some of the most peculiar places. Either we've been very lucky, or us six have done our homework. Either way, Angler and Ale was weak. The ambiance was almost set up like a school cafeteria. It wasn't very comfortable. The menu read like a fish house, which it kind of was but everything we ordered was limp. I know my adjectives are esoteric, but I'm trying to "not" write a scathing review due to the fact that everyone working here were lovely! Not that I am even (close) to being a restauranteur, because I'm not. But I could do a few quick changes here that would drastically change the end result of what I think they're trying to do. Now, in their favor, it was late; actually close to closing. The kitchen was starting to shut down. It was probably a long day and everyone including us were tired. I'm thinking the food wasn't up to par and all of us folks just wanted to get out and go home. In Yelp talk, three stars means "OK"! The problem with that, was the prior eight meals we've had on this New Years vacation was four and five star stuff. read more

The customer service was terrible. The host, who I believe was the manager on duty on Saturday (5/24/2025), treated us with hostility from the start. We had a reservation for 8:30, but were told their reservations don't hold tables, and it would be an hour wait. When we went to the bar to wait, the bartender, Gregory, was extremely disrespectful and seemed mad people were ordering drinks. Highly do not recommend this place and would advise them to have customer service training sessions. read more

Came here for lunch with a view after riding bikes around Duck Key. Solid four stars for food and views on the deck. Burger was cooked perfectly. Same with the grilled fish sandwich. Tuna nachos were a little sweet, so order with less sweet sauce or on the side. Lots of cold beers on tap. read more

We started with the peel and eats and the conch chowder. Chowder is made in house and is a red chowder. It has a hint of spice to it which I really liked. Nice casual dining option at the Hawks Cay Resort. Came here about 4x during our stay for dinner. Liked it much better than their more formal option, 61 prime. Supposedly same chefs anyway that rotate through their restaurants. Very nice staff. I really loved the lobster mac and cheese as an app. Also loved the wedge salad with the fresh shrimp on top! The 7 mile burger was pretty good too. They gave us an anniversary dessert as well on the house which was yummy. Cannot go wrong with chocolate cheesecake! read more

We came on a Friday night and expected it to be busy, which it was. The hostess was extremely friendly and accommodating and made sure to ask all the right questions on where we wanted to be sat, and gave us an approximate wait time. There was live music outside where they also had a makeshift bar set up, so we hung out there and got some drinks while waiting to be sat. Once we were seated at our table, no one came over for at least 20 minutes. An extremely nice waitress noticed us sitting there and asked if anyone had come over yet to which we told her no. She gladly took our orders and said our server should be over shortly. A different server dropped our drinks off, but didn't seem to know if he was assigned to our table or not. Throughout the entire evening no one seemed to "claim" us which was very odd and made the service even slower than it would have been. My husband and I both got burgers so nothing too crazy, and they were nothing too special either. We did also get the potato pancakes and beer cheese soup, an Oktoberfest special, that were quite tasty. The notable food though was the key lime pie and obviously that is THE dessert of the Keys but even so, this one was exceptionally delightful. If we weren't staying at Hawk's Cay we likely would not have come here and though it had great vibes the service was sub-par and the food was just alright. read more

Settled in just off the inlet, you have a view of calm waters and some light boat traffic. On a nice day (which there are plenty of..) this is a perfect spot for any meal on the deck. They do have kids options and the waiter informed us they can make it work if there was something we needed to accommodate a picky eater! We had the coconut shrimp, dill pickle chips, and coconut shrimp... They were all so delicious we ended up ordering another round of the coconut shrimp! Everything on the menu was very good and we are looking forward to going back very soon! Not only because of location, but also because of the service, atmosphere, and food. In the Duck Key complex that is mainly Hawk's Cay resort, Angler and Ale has a five star look, struggling three star food, and two-star service. The trigger fish was delicious. The undercooked rice and black beans? No. Veggies were somewhere between a seafood side and a vegetable crudité. A bit raw, as if hurried along, just like the rice. Judge a kitchen based upon how it rolls out the sides. On that basis the kitchen pulls a tidy two. The peel-and-eat shrimp was a little overcooked. It was also cold and solid, suggesting it was made a while earlier. Too much horseradish in the cocktail sauce, and too little cocktail sauce for a half pound of shrimp at $21. Service was horrible. I waited 10 min at the outside balcony. It rained. We had to beg to get a table. Another 15 minutes before they found a server. Lots of servers. Ridiculous. Price is the final straw. For these kind of hyper-inflated prices, even for the Keys, they should be A game, not B/B-. read more

The food is so bad and overpriced, don't waste your time here!! The only nice things I have to say about this restaurant are the location (which had a great view) and our waitress who was very sweet. My mom wanted a salad which came with zero protein so she asked for shrimp. They said they could add one order of three, which is nothing, so she had to get TWO orders of shrimp just so she could have protein in her salad. What a ripoff. I had the catch of the day with rice and veggies, which tasted fine but was NOT worth the price. My dad got the burger, which was made with stale bread so the whole bottom piece of bread was falling apart halfway into his meal. We got the bill and were shocked to see the price!
