Well, to say that we were anything less than disappointed with the customer service at this restaurant would be a massive understatement. If it were possible to leave less than 1 star, I certainly would. So, our experience here lasted approximately 3-4 minutes in total. We walked in on a Friday night and even though it was 9:15pm and the restaurant is scheduled to close at 10pm, the hostess gave us a cheery greeting and promptly told us that their kitchen closes in 10 minutes and asked if we would like to place an order to go. I responded by telling her that we already knew what we wanted to order and asked if we could order and sit to eat our food. She shook her head and said, "No, sorry the kitchen closes in 10 minutes so it would have to be a to go order ". Am I insane? Doesn't a to go order and a sit down order take the exact same amount of time to make? And furthermore, what does the kitchen closing have to do with whether or not we're able to sit at a table and eat our extremely messy but typically delicious meal? So my boyfriend and I left hungry and pretty irritated to say the least. I decided to call the manager. The same hostess answered and transferred me over to the manager who identified himself as Ray. He was very friendly and I told him we were in the restaurant about 5 minutes ago and described our conversation with the hostess. I asked him what time they close and he said at 10pm. I clarified that he meant that it is possible to still be seated and order until 10pm to replied a resounding, "yes, we are definitely open until 10pm and I will speak to the hostess and "find out what happened". No invite for us to return and be served during our phone call and I don't know about anyone else but as a manager, I would never say to a customer trying to spend money at my establishment, that I will "find out what happened" because that makes it sound as though you don't believe what the customer is saying to you. Did an online order for pick up, and over the year this location is a hit or miss with the service and food. This time around it was the fries, we ordered 2 sides of $6 Cajun fries and got this amount, we questioned the amount upon pickup, the employee told us the fries are now being weighted. Came here on Father's Day about an hour after opening. It was not busy yet so we were immediately greeted and seated. The place was nice and clean. We got a kids chicken tender meal, charred oysters, the trio boil (no head shrimp, lobster tails, crab legs, potato, and corn)- I added 2 eggs, a crab leg boil, and and a side of fries. Everything came out fresh and hot. The waiter was good overall. He did disappear for a bit after bringing the appetizer before the main meal was delivered and I wanted lemons for the oysters but he eventually appeared again. Delicious! Ordered take out and it did not disappoint. We ordered King Crab, Scallops, Red Potato, 8 Pieces of Sausage, Shrimp, Corn on the Cob, Charred Oysters and Hush Puppies. Everything was cooked to perfection and piping hot. The trifecta sauce with zero heat was very tasty. We loved the garlic pieces in the sauce. I have eaten here several times and each time the food was perfect. It pains me to write this review about my to-go order from yesterday. When I got home, my 1st mind said, "this is not thoroughly cooked." The shrimp or the sausage. I ignored myself and ate the food. Less then a few minutes later, I was in the restroom with an upset stomach. This took my evening away from me. It was as if I had a stomach virus . Hours later, whatever I didn't get rid of by sitting on the toilet came up and I threw up . $37 for a shrimp boil, only to become sick. . This was my first time at this location and it started with the phone call to confirm that reservations aren't needed due to the new covid and Delta strand, we wanted to make sure before driving here. Muntrell was our server and did a fantastic job to make sure that we were happy however, it was the ending that left a bittersweet taste in our mouths as he started clearing the table while we were still sitting and before we even cashed out which, I thought was odd as, I've never had this done before at any establishment. We placed our water and doggie bags on our laps as he started literally, removing the paper/ liner , utensils etc... AWKWARD Moving on... the food was good but, I was not a fan of the shrimp and grits, as it tasted and looked like mashed potatoes with shrimp...Muntrell did forewarn me that he hadn't tried it, as it, was a new menu item and to let him know how it taste, prior to ordering it. It was horrible! He returned it, apologizing in which, I ordered the replacement meal to be catfish...I wanted potatoe salad and fries but he took it upon himself to guess my sides for me and since I felt bad about the shrimp and grits I went with it. Faith was our server and she was great! I was having the hardest time deciding what to order, and my sister had More than a million questions, but Faith was so sweet and patient with us! She checked in regularly, kept our waters refilled, and the food suggestions she made were great. The summer special Blazzberry Margarita and Korean Fried Chicken was SO good. I was especially impressed with the chicken and how they nailed the crispiness and flavor! The gumbo is a huge serving and was also delicious! I also enjoyed every song that played. After waiting forever for a simple dish, I decided to go inside to check if it was done. Because why is it taking so long to make a sandwich?! So, I waited longer while he assembled the sandwich... When I made it back home, to finally eat, after waiting forever, I was saddened by my meal. I disliked the batter they used for the shrimp. It just had like an odd, burnt taste to it. But, the Cajun fries were good, they were just lukewarm. I just wasn't happy. Like at all. The service was subpar and the meal was dissatisfying. Today was only my second time eating here. I won't be coming back for takeout. I never eat seafood takeout , and I'm starting to think I never will again. The food goes hot and crispy into a plastic box and instantly begins to steam. So, it comes out soggy and limp. It's no fault of the restaurant. It wouldn't matter what they put the food in. It wouldn't turn out much different. Clam chowder - good flavor more/better clams than the canned stuff. However, I prefer my clam chowder to be thick and fluffy(?) so it nearly sticks to your spoon. This chowder was thin and watery. Catfish - excellent flavor. It seemed like it was probably crispy when it came out of the kitchen. I would love to order it again for dine-in. Hush puppies were good. I actually ate mine with some Sriracha, carrot hummus that I make at home. My sweet potato fries were too soggy and limp. I might put them in the air fryer later. Sausage was pretty decent. I'll have to get some in the red beans & rice another time. I think you should definitely eat here dine-in, but if you eat takeout be aware of what you're getting and how it might end up after ten minutes in a box. read more

We love this restaurant and go here often as a family. We used to love when they had the Awhatukee location. Unfortunately it closed during COVID. The metro Phoenix location has great service. Fortunately for Angry Crab the quality and taste of their food seems to be consistent. However the service at the Laveen location is the worst. We have been there multiple times and its always the same. The staff congregated in the kitchen area and never comes back to the table unless you call them. On more than one occasion the kids didn't get their food until we were almost done with ours. The manager doesn't seem to care and is standing there chatting and laughing with his staff. Forget about drink refills and if you don't ask for everything when your placing your order then you may as well forget about it. We won't be back to that location again. My recommendation is the Phoenix location on 28th St. & Indian School. read more

It takes a lot for me to complain about something but I bowel like this was unacceptable. We ordered the clams and naked shrimp. The clams were cleaned and was full of black sand which got into the sauce and made everything in the bad gritty. I ate some of the shrimps and sausages but could not finish the rest. The waiter said they can do nothing about that. I feel there is definitely something you can do about cleaning the sand from the clams. Another note, the watermelon mule was way too sweet and probably had zero alcohol in it.. you usually can taste at least a hint of alcohol. I usually like going to angry crab and have gone in the past with no problems but maybe it's this location? If they can't do anything about the clams, don't get the clams at this location. I have to give this location 2.5 stars because this location prepares it's servings different from the other locations and, unfortunately, I like the way the Mesa and Indian School locations prepare my favorite meals. This store is located in the large shopping plaza where the 35th Ave Super Walmart is located. It has a very tiny bar and no outside seating at all. I have only done carry-out from this location. I order the same thing at every Angry Crab: 1lb of Fresh Crawfish (or head on Shrimp when it's not Crawfish season) Trifecta/Hot, add 1 sausage. I never waiver I grew up eating crawfish and seafood boils and Angry Crab satisfies my cravings for home several times a year. My issue is that this location's preparation of my order is different than Mesa and Indian School. This location uses the least amount of sauce in a seafood boil bag that I've ever seen. It's strange to me because i get down to the last quarter pound of my bag and there's no sauce left to dip my head or tails in! The whole purpose of having the sauce in the bag is to dip and enjoy the flavors! I asked about it but was told it's a "portion control". Ok. I get it. But they should consider adding more sauce(i am posting 2 pics of my bag today so you can see what i mean). And I also get it, I could pay one-dollar for adequate(called "extra") sauce, but it's the principal of the thing. I won't part with my buck! We decided to try this new location while we were in the area and loved all our food! The kid's meal portions were huge! We've had many of their menu items and have liked them all, so you can't go wrong with any of them! The restaurant and bathrooms were clean and well kept as well.
