Tasty Angry Crab Shack gives new meaning to the word casual. The formica topped tables are covered with white butcher paper, people eat with their hands, and writing on the walls is not only allowed, it's encouraged. Angry Crab Shack has a team restaurant philosophy, food is delivered by the first person closest to the kitchen when the food is ready. I enjoyed ordering off Angry Crab's Menu. You pick your main course, which is sold by the pound. Then you pick your sauce, next you choose how spicy you want your entrée . The boil bag is brought to your table and everything is finger food. That's right, no utensils. You even get a rock to bash your crustaceans.  Thankfully a plastic bib is given and be sure to wear your bib, because you will need it. The prices are reasonable and food is very good. You should give this place a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

MEH! So I love the concept....however...I am a seafood eater and there is no way in the world that all of the seasonings should be various degrees of 'hot'. I ordered my scallops and linguini with no seasoning and added garlic butter - BIG mistake. Pasta was in butter soup. Their idea of garlic butter is the butter soup with a tablespoon of minced garlic from the jar. The scallops were good quality but completely tasteless. My husband got one of the spicy pasta dishes and his was a strange taste combination according to him and he loves hot stuff. We will not return. read more

Not particularly impressed. I've been to a couple other locations over the years, and while I was thrilled that this one opened at Happy Valley, the experience was pretty mediocre all around. A colleague and I met for lunch earlier this week, being that this chain is a favorite of his, and figured we should give this new location a go. We started off with hush puppies and calamari, both of which were pretty good and arrived in fairly short order. After that, we ordered the king crab and some shrimp, both with "trifecta" sauce. The crab and shrimp arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and seemed decent, but I wouldn't say great. Temperature was not particularly warm, which can be off putting especially half way through when your food is now basically cold to the touch. I'm used to the bags coming out much warmer than this, even from the few visits I had in the past to other locations. Beyond the food, I felt like the service was a bit lackluster, given that the place was at least two-thirds empty. Our server had to be asked to refill my iced tea more than once, which I consider a failure of even a basic service. While we're on the topic of basics, we also had to ask for plates to eat the appetizers with, and were given no zippers or any other tools besides our basic forks to use on the crab legs. Never mind the "nut cracker" tools they give you are as useless as the tenderizer (what the hell did we need this for?), so we ended up just breaking the crab down by hand and pulling the meat out that way too. That was a first for both of us. Lastly, service was just plain slow and a bit cavalier. I always hate getting the impression that I am burdening someone to have them grace the table with their presence. Case in point, I wanted to order something to go for my wife back home, who couldn't make the lunch. Our server suggested I could do this when the food came out. When the time came, I asked if he wanted to take the to-go order yet and the response was basically, "Yeah I can if you want," and a shrug. Sorry but whose idea was it to take it when the food came out? Pretty sure it was yours, not mine so what the hell? And no, not once did a manager or anyone else stop by to see how we or any other tables around us were doing. You can tell they have no handle whatsoever on the restaurant or the staff. It's not that they're overwhelmed, at least not for lunch, it's that they just don't give a shit. Oh and last but not least, salt in the wound, my wife's take out order was garbage. Chicken sandwich was so far over cooked that it was like trying to bite into a used tire. My wife spat it out and I did the same when I tried it. How the hell do you manage that when it barely had any grill marks on it? Answer: store-bought, pre-made garbage that some flunky can't even heat up without ruining it. Would I go back? Tough to say. Maybe if they get their shit together, but at this time it doesn't seem like they can even get the very basics right. read more

Been going to the Angry Crab on Indian school for years and LOVED IT. I was super excited when I found out a location was opening down the street from my house. I went to try out some good ol' Cajun seafood with some friends. We had the shrimp and crab and less than two hours of getting home the food poisoning kicked in for all three of us and we have all been very ill. From a few weeks back. Lunch: slow, even with lots of available seating, under 1/3 full at 115. Got a lunch bowl. Hard dry rice and a remade order that appeared to contain parts from original, sorry I won't make my self sick because I was told that you could make the dish without the offending material. Service was ok given the kitchen turnaround but as the advanced party for the work lunch that week there was no way I could recommend it to others. They are not kidding with their heat scale which is probably the best part of the place and the only encouraging notes so far in these reviews is that other parts of the chain are apparently far better... We always try and give them a shot ordering to go but they always find a way to not get the order correct - check out the location on Bell Road as they do a great job of packing the order to go and making food exactly as ordered. We really love this spot but for take out this is NOT your option. I have even talked with a manager before about our wings and food we went in to give it another try and nope! Wings were specifically ordered "extra wet" super dry! Why do I even bother asking for extra wet? Recommend to ask for fries cooked "well" because sometimes they come under cooked or too soggy. We really tried but not sure if the cooks are not looking at the orders correctly or not. read more

Let me just start this review by stating I don't really care for seafood.... If I had to dictate a full fledged reason for my consistent return to this establishment it'd be none other than the impeccable service by Darby. Sure, the crab legs, corn on the cob and sausage bites are seasoned well. Any trained chef can demonstrate said meal, what one simply cannot teach is how to engage a guest and provide limitless entertainment to the extent she never ceases to extend. Food was great! We had the catfish which we would get again in a heartbeat. A pound of shrimp, and a pound of king crab. Lost a star because of the service. They brought our crab, but nothing to break it with or the cute little clothes protectors. After asking 2 different servers, ours finally came by 10 minutes later and we asked him for something to eat our (now cold) crab with. Also had to ask for napkins. I noticed other people had a basket brought to their table with utensils, so obviously someone just forgot to give us any. This was my second visit to angry crab. First visit was great since they had just opened. Yesterday's visit was not! The crab was cold and sauce super thick! I dont know why it was cold. Our waitress was very personable but My food matters more to me than her personality. I asked for a side salad. She came back and forth about 4 times with no we can't do a small side yes we can no we can't yes we can! I finally did get a side salad which was very good but My stomach hasn't been the same since eating the cold Crab legs. I don't think I'll go back..wonder what changed! read more

Great place for Cajun style seafood! Everything was delicious and plentiful. The restaurant was clean and our server Blake was fantastic! He was very knowledgeable about the menu and assisted us in making our selections. The gumbo was out of this world amazing! Just like you get in Louisiana. Then there was the snow crab, soft shell crab shrimp and lobster. Not to mention the onion rings, corn, potatoes, sausage.....oh, and the chocolate peppermint martini... Wow! Wasn't a fan at my first experience of Angry Crab. This was our first time at this location. We walked in with two parties of 8 and were able to get a seat outside right away. So I love the food here so when we have it I'm excited. Wanted to try new shrimp and grits. Had my son order 2 catfish baskets and shrimp and grits. When I arrive they have the catfish and a side of grits. I tell them the website says shrimp and grits now I realize now it says $3 however my son doesn't look at prices it says shrimp and grits under the baskets category not the side category.there is no other place to order shrimp and grits except the lunch menu, which it was 5pm so why would he go to the lunch menu. So I tell them I need the food please have them make it . no discount no free drink while you wait another 25 mins. No manager comes to talk to me nothing! And now my catfish basket is cold. Celebrated with my friends we had lunch at the happy valley location. They had open tables but it took them about 5 minutes to find a clean one. Once seated the waitress was prompt in getting our order. When they brought the order they had made one order very hot instead of bringing the hot sauce separately. Our waitress told us to add lemon juice to the bag or butter. This was not the best way to handle their mix up. After asking the manager who looked about 19 to fix it she did but looked annoyed by our request. Luckily the food made up for the attitude. King crab legs were delicious and we added pasta to the shrimp which was a great addition! We shall return but be clear about adding heat on the side! read more

Tried this place for the first time, not impressed. The high priced menu does not match the filthy floors, walls, windows, tables, etc. For what the seafood cost, it was disappointing to get our food on paper plates and soup microwaved in a plastic deli container. Each item had a sticky label on it like it came out of the fridge, microwaved and brought to our table. The only thing that was not plastic or paper was our silverware. Have not been feeling good since our lunch, and for a $75 tab, that is not ok. Avoid this dirty and expensive place, unless you don't want fresh seafood and real plates. read more

Food was amazing and the messiest meal ever which is fine by me. Not so much for my daughter but she enjoyed as you can clearly see. We sat at the bar which was perfect. Make sure you visit Josh and Wendy at the bar. Super friendly and on point for food and great service. And whichever shell fish strikes your fancy I think the Trio sauce with medium heat was perfect. Decent food and prices. The crawfish were pretty over cooked. I ordered a pound of live but you can also get frozen for $2 cheaper. The shrimp peel and eat was pretty good. We also had 2 po boys, 1 shrimp- definitely not a southern po boy but not bad and 1 shrimp and oyster po boy. The service was good. She was new and double checked things which we liked.
