Loved this place!! I originally saw it on ramen and decided that I had to check it out. Thankfully, I was not disappointed. The food came out rather quickly which was nice. Our group ordered a variety of menu items including bao buns, vegan and chicken broth ramen, and a don burp bowl. Everything was well done and had a good flavor. The one wish I had was that the bao buns had more of the spicy miso-mayo and the vegan broth had more flavor. Other than that, the food was delicious and I would definitely order again. The restaurant had a great vibe that's definitely geared towards a younger crowd. The music is very much popular hip hop, but that's what I like so it was fun to be there. Ani Ramen is great at any location I suppose lol ordered online for delivery. Great packaging. Major flavors shining through on the Chefs Special Ramen. Lemongrass and Shallot and give this broth a boost and I was surprised it was so flavorful that I didn't need my much beloved Umami bomb. Pork Bao and Chicken bao were both perfectly executed. Well cooked and fluffy just as in person. The container didn't look like much initially, but I was definitely fooled. There was enough in there to fill me up for sure. The noodles still had a great consistency despite the delivery and carrying time which I was grateful for. Nothing worse then craving ramen and getting mushy noodles lol I would go in person once all this COVID-19 nonsense calms down. I will visit in the near future to try things in person. read more

I went to Ani Ramen on 3/13 and really enjoyed the whole experience! Everything I ate was absolutely delicious. They had a special rock shrimp appetizer which is a must order if it's available when you go! The double fried chicken wings are a classic dish that is delicious and holds its own against any one else's. The bao buns are amazing. This time around I had the pork bao which was juicy and very flavorful. Personally I am not the biggest fan of ramen bowls. So luckily ani ramen has a ton of options. I had the soy glazed Don Buri Bowl. The chicken was yummy and the veggies and rice mixed perfectly with it. I highly recommend this dish for anyone attending. They also have outdoor dining with your own little igloo/booth which was very cool! The staff was very helpful and respectful. 5/5 stars. Absolutely must try! read more

Came here on a Monday night with a friend. We had the restaurant mostly to ourselves which was nice! Had great, attentive service throughout the night, although towards the end I felt a bit rushed out as we received the check while still finishing up food without any requests if we wanted to order more food like dessert. Food wise, we ordered the fried tofu bao buns. Then I ordered the vegan ramen as I am a vegetarian and that was the only veg option. My friend ordered the vegan ramen and included chicken as she liked the veggies included such as mushrooms. Let's start with the bao buns which were AMAZING. So good, in fact, that we added an additional order. My first time eating a bao bun and I was blown away. However, this excitement fell flat with my ramen which was not well flavored. Unfortunately, vegan and vegetarian broths require a little finesse and love, which did not happen here. All in all, I would come again for the fried tofu bao buns only. The ramen here lives up to the hype! The egg noodles are homemade and are wonderfully chewy. The shoyu broth is amazing, just the smell of it made my mouth water. The flavor was perfectly balanced: meaty, not too salty or greasy, and I loved slurping it together with the noodles. The pork belly melts in your mouth and you get nice thick chunks, not the ultra-thin slices typically served in ramen shops. I opted to add the marinated, soft boiled egg and it was expertly cooked. The runny yolk complimented the noodles, broth and black garlic oil. The service was wonderful too; servers are friendly and the food is delivered promptly. I sat outside and the steamy bowl of ramen was perfect for the slightly chilly fall evening. I can't wait to come back and try the other types of ramen! read more

1st tiem here, been picky with ramen and always believed the good ones are the authentic one. Ani Ramen changed my perception. It's not authentic Japanese ramen but is so freaking good. We came for outdoor dining during covid. The Maplewood location has a nice little outdoor tent area that had about 4-5 tables for parties of 4 and an additional 3-4 tables for 2 people. We came on a Friday night around 6pm and it wasn't super crowded at the time. The staff were very nice. Service a bit slow but nothing out of the ordinary during the pandemic (I've experienced much worse). I got the spicy miso ramen and it was delicious. All their ramens come with pork meat even though their menu doesn't specify that (we got an "express" menu which I assume was specific for dining during covid). The broth was very tasty. Noodles are not classic ramen noodles but much thicker - which I happen to like. The portions are very small for what they charge. I'm used to leaving ramen places feeling completely stuffed but definitely not the case here. You only get 2 small pieces of pork with the bowl and a couple of pieces of cabbage. But you have the option to add sides (including an egg), so I would definitely do that if you have a big appetite and are used to those big hearty bowls of ramen. The Kurobuta sausage appetizer was really good - tastes much better than it looks and I highly recommend this. We also tried the Panko fried shrimp appetizer - not worth it. I wouldn't get it again. They give baby shrimps and the crust didn't taste like Japanese panko at all. The taste was also very bland. Tasted like something I could've bought from the supermarket and air fried myself. I also think it's very cheap when restaurants serve baby shrimps in general but that's just me. They charge $5 for this dish and only give 4 pieces so it's $1.25 per piece of baby shrimp. Again, don't waste your money on this dish. Overall very pleased with our meal. Just a little pricey for what they give but I would come back for the ramen. It's very decent for an area that doesn't have a lot of good authentic Asian food. read more

This may be my favourite Ani Ramen location out of all of them (so far, waiting on Cranford!). Parking is on the street but I rarely have a problem finding something whenever I've gone to Maplewood. Got a seat pretty easily at a table. The staff is super friendly here. The ramen was so good and flavorful - as well as the bao buns. Even got me to join their VIP Club. Hm, should try and find the card, not sure where I put it ... Cannot wait to return! read more

Have been going to the original location in Montclair since it opened and was curious to give this location a try. Just like the original they have some really cool art on the wall and the staff is friendly and attentive. Tatiana, the host was amazing. The Boa buns were delicious, and the ramen was good. Ah, we are lucky to have Ani Ramen in Maplewood and it's BYOB! I was here recently solo on a weeknight around 6p. By 7p when I leaving most of the tables filled up. I ordered the spicy miso ramen and it was just has good as I remember it from the JC location! Fantastic flavors, perfect spice level, and they had no problem subbing pork for tofu for me. I was also given a complimentary app of cucumbers with garlic. The ambiance and service were great, too! I'll definitely be back and my dad loves ramen, so plan on bringing him here for a celebration soon! read more

I was there Saturday December 2, around 4:30/5pm The food was amazing. Wouldn't change a thing about it. Ordered our food with our waitress who was nice and friendly. 10 min after we ordered our food our food and apps came out instantly. The place wasn't empty at all. After we got our food we didn't ask for our checks she didn't ask if we needed our checks she placed our checks on the table. This place is nice. Tons of tables. We got seating right away. We got there a little after 6 pm on Thursday night. We tried shrimp bao (small sandwich in a bun), gyoza (dumplings) and then Ramen (noodle soup). The foods are very tasty. Service was nice, too. I have no complaints and we probably will return soon. Prices are average. The total bill came out around $60. Lights were little on the dark side which made the reading menu very difficult. Also, they suggest to leave a tip of 20, 22 or 24% which seems to be high. I can not remember a last place which started the recommended tip over 20%. Also, they do not do take-outs. read more

Long anticipated, and worth the wait! This restaurant is a welcome addition to the neighborhood, and I can already tell that it will be hugely successful. I stopped in for a late (2:20pm) lunch, and the place was hopping. Friendly hostess, friendly and attentive server (thanks, Bradley!), open, airy floorplan, cool decor, immaculately clean despite the crowd, and delicious, fresh ramen! Two things especially worthy of note, one small but important to me, and one more significant. The small one is that when I was seated, after the server filled my water glass, he left a good-sized bottle of water for me. I tend to drink a lot of water, and it was nice to have it there and not have to worry about refills. The more significant thing that I observed is that great care must have gone into the selection and training of the staff. Everyone with whom I interacted seemed to enjoy working at the restaurant, and to enjoy working with people. The service was attentive, but not intrusive, and the waitstaff helped one another flawlessly. The owner (?) Mark stopped by my table to make sure that everything was okay and that I was happy. This place is cool and interesting. It's pretty small and they do not serve alcohol but you can BYOB. The music was really loud and it annoyed me a little, but it's ok. Fiancé and I came in on a Sunday. We ordered the pork bao, the wings and we split a shoyo ramen. The bao were delicious, I wish I had ordered two orders. They also has shrimp bao and I wanna go back to try it. I def recommend. The wings were just ok, too much breading in my opinion I wouldn't order again. We stayed at a local airbnb for the weekend and found this place on our short walk through town. I made a reservation for the outdoor pods. The service was great, super friendly and attentive. This was my first time at this location, I've been to the one in Jersey City. The layout is the same & the food was just as good. Excited to finally try tonight but left in utter disappointment. This is not a ramen place but just a noodle joint. The soup base is only salty and not complex in flavor. Typical price is $16-$20 a bowl depending on the topping but the portion size is super small. I do not need big portion but really too small for the price. CABBAGE SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR RAMEN TOPPING! YES IT'S CHEAP BUT DON'T! Corn, bean sprouts, seaweed, pickled ginger is not expensive but will make it more authentic! Chicken karaage came out hot and crispy but again 5 small pieces for $9? We live around the neighborhood and definitely have to travel for authentic food so it was only good for convenience! After waiting almost a year to finaly taste the Ramen I was disappointed. Ordered the Pork buns and Spicy Ramen. Pork in the bun was overly cooked and the toppings we're limp so it pretty much fell apart with the first bite. Have definitely had better. The broth in the Spicy Ramen was the biggest disappointment. Generally prefer pork bone broth but was willing to give it a shot. It didn't taste or feel like a lot of attention was put into the preparation. It was flat so it seemed extra salty. Also was surprised the egg wasn't included. I LOVE Ani Ramen in Montclair. But this location needs a Quality Control Audit. While my soup and noodles were ok, the broth was missing something. There's a fresh flavor I can't place that is usually in Montclair noodles, and this batch was missing it. My husband's noodles, (the very same I ordered) were so oily and full of fat blobs that they were inedible. So disappointing that our Saturday night delivery was a waste of money. 3 stars because the packaging was great and the dumplings were as tasty as always. Also, delivery was fast.
