The shot clinic on Speedway is AMAZING! I have never had such exemplary customer service. The staff are so genuine and care about animals so very much! Nicole was the person who helped us initially and she was extremely professional and caring. She was patient while she answered all of our questions and showed our dogs so much love, immediately putting us at ease. We were very impressed with the entire staff. They advised us regarding all of the things that we needed to do for our rescue. We will never deal with another clinic in Tucson. Such a refreshing change from some of the other clinics that have made us feel like we were just a number as they rushed us out the door. If I could give this place anything less than one star I would. My 20 year old cat takes two medicines. We attempted to get the dr to order her TWO TABLETS of each medicine so we could get through until payday. THEY REFUSED. This is medication that my cat needs to stay alive. Without it she will die a very horrible death. HOW CAN THESE PEOPLE LIVE WITH THEMSELVES?? I have been taking my cat to them for 2 years and the medicine has not changed at all. It is not like I was asking for a full prescription, I only needed to tablets of each medication to get her through until next week when I could bring her in. I have 28 rescue dogs (not foster, they are all my babies) and need excellent vet care A LOT. My old vet (until 6 years ago) seemed good, but I switched to ABC when she became quite difficult/unavailable. Both the shot clinic on 1st st and the main clinic on craycroft are the very very best. The surgeons are really skillful, ESPECIALLY Dr. Sibinic. The staff, too, are so very kind and helpful. They will get your pet an appointment very soon, will answer all questions, will treat you with respect and great kindness. My kitty was lost for 7 months.. after months of searching and trying to find him, I had given up hope. Today, I received a call from the workers at ABC, letting me know that someone had brought in my cat to get neutered and whenthey ran his microchip, they saw the "LOST" alert on it. They were so quick at calling me and needless to say I was overjoyed. I promised them I would be in that afternoon to pick up my kitty. When I came in, although they were SUPER busy, they greeteed me instantly and knew exactly who I was and who I was looking for. Though packed, they are super efficient and organized. This place may be OK for vaccines but as far as an actual vet clinic, it is terrible. My dog was poisoned and could have died today, no exaggeration. Dr. Pullen literally shrugged his shoulders and did nothing.....nothing! He came off as absolutely incompetent. He couldn't answer any of my questions. It's as if he just walked in off of the street and was pretending to be a vet....wait, he didn't even do a good job of pretending. He was that bad. One example of a question that a vet should know in this case was..."what is considered a toxic amount of the food she ate for her weight?" He should have known this. I found the answer all over the internet. I even asked the REAL vet I ended up taking her to. The REAL vet immediately knew the answer and was able to tell me in grams, ounces and even show me an example. Dr. Pullen's answer was literally "Ummm I don't know." As he just casually leaned against the counter, crossed his arms and shrugged. Time was of the essence in saving my dog and this guy had absolutely no urgency whatsoever. And that was just one of the many questions I asked him which I got similar uncaring, ignorant replies too. This guy was a total quack. I walked out and went up the street to a real vet who actually helped us and saved my dog. If you care for your pet do not go here because they don't. read more

ABC killed my foster dog. They butchered him so badly in his neuter operation, he needed reconstructive surgery to save him. We had to put him down 5 days after mutilated him. They showed no empathy, and wouldnt even look at him for follow up care. after multiple trips to different vets, no one could save him. This place needs to be SHUT DOWN. the only after care advice i was given after was "to put ice packs on him". He was destroyed internally and they really didnt seem to care. two vets later, we had to put him down, as no other vets could repair the damage ABC did. ABC now claims it was the aftercare that killed him, displacing the blame of their substandard surgery on to someone else. ABC's vet never even so much as picked him up to examine him and hurriedly pushed out the door each time. Harley was restrained, with the instructed ice packs on him for 2 straight days. ABC never saw the damage because they never cared to even put him on the table to look at him. HAD ABC done their job properly, Harleys issues would of been addressed immediately, but instead we were told to come back on monday. Harleys aftercare was done exactly as instructed, ABC refuses to take responsibility for murdering an innocent dog with their incompetence. ABC's follow up response has only solidified the fact they do not care about the animal, they only care about damage control and covering their own butt rather than trying to amend the situation. Not to mention they charged us each time, so basically we paid them to kill the dog. Never once did they reach out to us to fix the situation, only to lie and place blame on someone other than themselves. I guess lying to cover up your mistakes is common business practice...and i have the statements of several former employees to substaniate that as well. I have numerous other complaints against ABC compiled, which will result in a formal state board complaint. I have an entire community of people willing to stand up for their pets who ABC also caused harm to, interesting to see if they call ALL of these people liars as well. ABC also refuses to hand over any records or charts regarding Harley, furthering their suspicious and shady behavior. If they did nothing wrong, then his charts should be turned over. Hiding information is a huge characteristic of being guilty and trying to cover it up. A snarky remark on Yelp is the only communication that ABC has initiated since Harley was killed by them, and its a sad attempt at damage control and only displays further their lack of empathy on the animals part. His blood is on ABCs hands and Harley will have justice. read more

My dog was just neutered and had dental work. I have nothing negative to say about this place. They are very professional on the phone. I believe Simone help me. Sweetie was fine and you cannot complain about the cost. I don't know how they did it but it was awesome cost and the work they did on sweetie when is awesome too. If we went to our regular vet it would have cost 4 times as much. I am not exaggerating. This is including medication. We are very happy with them and if you need dental work I totally recommend going to this place. read more

This place was terrible. We have a Yorki who had, apparently, two testicles that did not descend. We were informed of this when we went to get his shots at ABC. Then they told us they'd have to be removed because it could cause problems including cancer. They suggested that we get an ultrasound done to make sure he indeed had two undescended testicles. We did everything they told us. The ultrasound was done at another clinic and showed nothing but they assured us they were in there and so believing the professional we went along with the surgery at this clinic. The day of the surgery they had no idea it was a special neutering or that there was an ultrasound that needed to be looked at. Long story short he didn't even have testicles. The surgery was pointless. IT GETS BETTER, shortly after I dropped off my dog they called my wife and asked if she would like to have his teeth cleaned for an additional cost. They explained that it COULD include extractions if necessary. Thinking that a teeth cleaning was all it was going to be she agreed and since we regularly get his teeth cleaned at his groomers there was little concern for extractions. WE PICKED HIM UP WITH 7 TEETH PULLED OUT. We did not agree to that. They never called to say as "hey, is it cool...this is why we gotta do this". Their reasoning...too much tarter build up. Are you flipping kidding me?!?! We did NOT sign anything agreeing to that and seriously would you let the dentist walk out of the room after giving your kid a fluoride treatment and say "well, we saw some teeth with plaque...so we just went ahead and pulled them out, hope you don't mind." To to it all off the extra money we paid covered the procedure only and they charged us $5 for every tooth they pulled so the additional cost was $50 for the "procedure" and 35 for all the teeth pulled...bringing it to a total of $85 on top of the useless surgery! This clinic MUTILATED my dog unnecessarily. He's missing most of his front teeth. Avoid at all costs...not worth it...what a bunch of quacks. read more

My lab had to have surgery on his head to remove a tumor and he recovered with no issues. I will continue to take all of my animals to this clinic. They are AMAZING!!!! read more

If I could give these guys 0 stars I would. I went in for a standard spay for my dog. Jade is a 60 pound shepherd/greyhound mix and she's less than two years old. The nurse came out and said everything went well and I brought her home after the procedure. She was not getting better after a week and we took her to our normal vet and they thought she was going to die. Her kidneys were failing and that she needed immediate medical care. We took her to an animal hospital just down the street from you guys who gave her the care and attention she needed. It resulted in a $4,500 vet bill because she had be in intensive care for a week. We brought her home after a week with a feeding tube and various medications. I was an emotional wreck from this whole experience. Come to find that the whole reason this happened was because you did not check the bloodwork properly...my regular vet said she never would have put my dog under anesthesia from the bloodwork that was taken. It was a mistake to ever walk into this facility. Even when I came back in and brought my issue to your attention you had no empathy for my situation. Very bad judgment and care from you guys. read more

This place is awesome! Very friendly and prices great. We have taken several kittens and cats there to be fixed that decided to make our yard their home. If you bring a cat in a trap you don't need an appointment. Just drop off between 7 and 7:30. My wife walked in today and they knew her name. They carry hour animal carrrier and trap out to tour car and everyone is helpful and very friendly. Super place for your pet especially if on a budget. Give them a try. read more

I have gone to ABC shot clinic because of the cheap shots. When it comes to customer service they shouldn't even be allowed to get a star. Every time I go in, I always manage to get the same person that is having a really,really,really bad day. My last incident was the last time I was going. Just for the basics. The wait time is pretty long. I am usually waiting for more than an hour and they are just your basic shots. When I have asked a question about the reminders that they say they give, the women told me to stop wasting her time and she was very busy. You can sure bet I was upset. When I tried to complain about this women's service I got the run around. I was so upset with the service and attitude of the front staff that they are just not worth going to anymore.On the plus side it is cheap. But I am more likely going to go to a regular vet office to get shots. Plus a vet office will actually look at my pet and not just rush it. read more

I have two male cats that I took there to be neutered. I just acquired these kitties from a friend. I do have a female kitty at home that's not spayed due to a congenital heart defect she cannot be spayed. I told them at the time about this when dropping off and when picking up, not one person said they could still be fertile for up to 3-4 weeks after. So last night my cats tried to mount her. I called this morning to find out why and that's when they told me. She said well it's in the discharge papers so it's up to me to read it. I get that but when I said something they still didn't mention it.. that makes me so angry. Now I have to worry about the possibility of kittens and my kitty might not even survive giving birth. I took my new little rescue doggie here to get neutered. I will say, this place gets crazy busy, but for good reason. A business like this is doing "good work", meaning they're providing a service that is very necessary and not charging an arm and a leg. My only complaint is they tried to sell me an Elizabethan/satelite/pet cone/lamp shade collar in case my baby wanted to lick his insicions,... for $10! I don't know why that rubbed me the wrong way?? I refused the collar and turns out, we wouldn't of needed it anyway. He has healed so well and fast, and the surgery site was stitched up nice and neat. The staff was friendly, attentive and kind to all the animals. I would highly recommend taking your beloved furry friend here. Please spay and neuter your pets!! read more

I really can't express how endeared I am to the staff at this clinic. My dog became seriously ill very quickly and when we went in for an exam we had no idea we wouldn't be taking him home.. Putting him down was incredibly unexpected and traumatic. But the staff was so unbelievably kind, warm and professional. They were patient as we waited for my brother to arrive so we could all say goodbye to our family dog. They never made us feel rushed when we were saying our goodbyes and were so sympathetic and understanding. Their kindness meant the world during that difficult time. A few days later, we received a handwritten condolence card in the mail.. We were so moved. My family is so grateful for the staff at this clinic and I hope that other vet clinics emulate their compassionate care. read more

If I could give no stars I definitely would! This female veterinarian here absolutely refuses to work with me concerning my dogs medication. My dog has been on heart meds since 2010. I moved to this state 3 years ago because of the military. My dog has been being seen once a year for a checkup and vaccinations since she was a puppy. This place tries to make me come in every 4 months even though nothing has changed with the condition of my dog for the past 8 years! I refilled the meds recently for a four month supply and a few days later found out I am deploying. I have to have my family in NC care for my dog. I went in to ask for prescriptions to cover the period I will be deployed and the doctor refuses saying the dog needs to be see. These people act like this is a controlled med that im selling on the street! No compassion, no sympathy and no understanding or support of military members. The only thing this place is good for is cheap sprays. I wont be back and wont reccomend this place to anyone who desires an intelligent doctor. read more

What a great experience! I have had my animals to a few different clinics in town but the staff and doctors at Animal Birth Control are awesome! My dogs are like my children so I look for a place that makes me and my dogs feel comfortable. The staff is always very helpful and so eager to please. The doctors will take the time to explain things in terms that I understand. I have been taking my pets to this clinic that past 2 years and will never use another clinic for my pets care again. I am so pleased that I often tell my family and friends. Like I said I have used other clinics in the past but ABC reall cares about you and your animals. Killed our louie during neuter. And that is a fact!!! When we picked him up they said he bleed a little during surgery but was fine now, a couple hours later we rushed our dying Lou to emergency vet. This is the absolute worst place to take your animal for care. I adopted a dog and was told she was spayed by ABC. 2 months later she went into heat. When I called the shelter I adopted her from they set up an appointment at ABC to get her looked at. The tech was horrible...jammed the thermometer in my dogs ear making her cry. The vet was not any better...she seemed bothered to confirm or deny that my dog was spayed. Asking very rudely "what makes you think she is in heat?" That fact that she was bleeding and swollen was my first clue and I'm not a board certified vet. I decided to go to my regular vet to get my puppy spayed even though it would have been free at ABC. My vet confirmed the worst...she has been semi spayed before by a hack job. They left part of her ovaries and uterus. What's worse is she had adhesions around her spleen. To think that ABC hires and employs incompetent people is inexcusable. If you want a HACK job go to ABC. read more

My daughter adopted a dog from SAFE, paper work said she was spayed@ abc! Not so fast! She went into heat!! Went back to abc to confirm , they were rude, rushed us & hurt our dog by being rough! Regular vet spayed her & said abc only took out PART of her ovaries & left the uterus! Plus she had adhesions to the spleen, which could have killed her! I received really great care from the Vet, & the Vet Asst. Tatiana. Tatiana helped reassure me that they will do the very best to take care of my newly rescued ShihPoo. who was very badly neglected & physically abused. He was a knotted up mess. he was suppose to be a ShihTzu less than a year. After his spa day (had to shave him bald), we found lesions and a few blistering like protrusions and a huge scar as if he was slit on the throat .I thought I was gonna basically have to pay for him to be put to sleep. Tatiana reassured me they would get him better. After his examination Thanks to God he was ok. The protrusions were from foxtail stickers being rejected from his body & since he hadnt been groomed before they were infected. They gave me pain meds & antibiotics. My bill started out an decent amount. & when I went to pay, it was way cheaper! Our visit & service was OUTSTANDING & our bill was VERY AFFORDABLE. I received very useful/helpful info on spaying/neutering & vaccinations which I needed. The best thing from this visit is my beautiful ShihPoo who is now healthy with the help of this amazing Vet facility! Thank you ABC! read more

BEWARE!! We took our female dog to be spayed 2 days ago.. the surgery itself appears to have gone well. The problem we're encountering is this: a) The prescription pain medication (Rimadyl) we were given was NOT EVEN OURS!! The tech gave us a prescription for someone else's dog - same medication, just FOUR TIMES the dosage for our dog... they didn't call us until over an hour later and I had to drive back (30 miles one way) to pick up the correct prescription . Needless to say. if we had given it to her, it probably would have killed her..... but we're not out of the woods yet - read on: b) They neglected to advise us of the possible side effects of this prescription for Rimadyl. We're 48 hours into it....and we are now dealing with a very sick little doggy..... We only gave her half the prescribed dosage last night, and another half this morning. Within minutes she began vomiting and hasn't stopped since - she cant even keep water down...I looked up this medication and found it can some very serious side effects (including death) and it is very apparent that our dog is now very sick as a result of this medication. Had they advised us on the possible side effects of this Rimadyl, we would never have given it to her... We will not be taking any more of our pets to this facility! I was able to bring Bootsie in at 7am for her spay, unlike other vet offices that won't let you before 8am, so I was able to get to work on time. Dr. Khalsa did an amazing job on Bootsie, after 3 days her incision is barely visible! She is a happy kitty playing with her sister, Blue, who unfortunately I had a bad spay experience at a different vet office. Everyone needs to go to ABC!!! read more

Our cat needed dental work bad so I took him here. They were kind and caring, the place was clean and they treated you very well. Our cat is over 10 and didn't like people but he sat and let the vet check him with no fighting at all. I was very impressed. Dental day went smooth and he came home with meds and lots of instructions. They really did a good job. And we have 4 others that may need work and we are going to make this our vet for sure. This is the worst place you could possibly take your pets to. Is there an option for zero stars?? One of the vets who saw my dog was rude, unsympathetic, and incompetent. He gave my 14 year old dog vaccinations and she died six months later. I later found out elderly dogs should not be vaccinated. He neglected to mention this, no wonder he works at such a trashy place. The worst part was that he acted like he hated animals! I miss my dog everyday. He cared more about making money than making the right decisions. All at the expense of pets health and safety. I'd rather pay four times as much as go to a caring and knowledgeable vet. read more

I had to take my dog into Animal Birth Control to be neutered and going into surgery was a very big deal for me. I got a call from the staff letting me know that they found a growth on my dog and were not able to perform the neuter as scheduled. The lady who I spoke with, who was very kind and had what I would call a nice bedside manner, referred me to a full service clinic that was also low cost but owned by the same people! I took my baby to be looked at there and the growth was only a fatty cyst and I was able to have the growth removed and had him neutered at the same time at this Low Cost full service clinic which is called ABC Low Cost Pet Care Clinic. I am so grateful that they caught that. The staff was so friendly and treated my baby like he was one of their own. The doctor took the time to speak to me personally and I could have not had better care! Not to mention the clinic was immaculate, you could not even tell it was a veterinary clinic. I have an elderly dog that I have been taking to ABC since they opened. My dog has always had health problems from a puppy. I have used other Vets in the area and have never found a clinic that was as awesome as ABC. The staff is always friendly and greets me with a smile. The doctors are very thorough and have treated my baby just as if they were their own. The doctors and staff always give the best care possible at an affordable price. I am often ask where I take my animals and without a doubt I recommend ABC 110%!! Thank you ABC for taking such awesome care of my precious baby. I'd like to start by saying I made a Yelp account JUST so I could write this review. Brought my one year old cat to be spayed at this place, and am very disappointed. First of all, the place is always overcrowded with animals and the wait times are atrocious, as well as the customer service from the staff. I was almost positive she wasn't in heat when I brought her in, and it turns out she was. Instead of calling to inform me of this before going through with the surgery, they performed it, which is much more risky and expensive and caused her to have problems with her hormones for weeks after. THEN about two weeks later, I realize she has RING WORM. My kitty is an indoor cat, has never been outside of the apartment. I have no other pets. I bring no other pets in. My only conclusion is that they do not clean their facilities well enough to keep them from catching fungi. So when I brought her back in, and it was diagnosed, they shrugged me off, told me it could have come from anywhere, and that I should go get a generic anti fungal cream. So I did that, have been applying it as they directed and it has gotten SO MUCH WORSE and her hormonal changes are still affecting her from the spay that was over a month ago. She is not the same kitty that she was before, which is heartbreaking for a pet owner. I have made an appointment elsewhere and would stay far away from this place if you want thorough, caring, careful and not money driven, rude, and flippant care. read more

I dropped my puppy off this morning for a spay and being that it is my first dog ever I was very nervous leaving her in the care of strangers. I was greeted by a very friendly staff who made me feel safe leaving my baby there. When I picked up my little girl I was given instructions on how to care for her and the lady who checked me out was very nice, caring and patient and covered all of my questions.
