What a gorgeous and cute space! Anita Cafe & Bar's got a very well-lit, open space that is very aesthetic with an even better staff that was constantly checking in and ready to service. I went for brunch on a Monday and it was pretty empty; it's pretty ideal for a cafe study spot. There's also a bit of street parking in front of it. You're immediately brought some varietal cookies to munch on while waiting for the rest of your order. I tried their bestselling avocado toast with an add-on of salmon. I don't know what I was expecting, but it was not the fattest piece of baked salmon that sat on top of the toast; it was also quite seasoned with the essentials. It was so loaded that I had to spread this out over the course of two meals. It's layered with perfectly ripe avocado, slivers of beet, arugula, feta cheese, and a squeeze of lemon. It really was love at every single bite without feeling too heavy or lacking (if anything, it erred maybe on the slightly saltier end depending on the bite you got). It was definitely worth the cost. Their drink menu also sounded so good! I did a rose tea that was a little more sour in note, but I really appreciated the cute French press it came in. Their coffee menu looked really good (alas, I don't drink coffee), and the drink my friend ordered was prepared very pretty. I loved how healthy and intentional this space felt; it really felt like everything was made with love. What a cute restaurant right off of Jefferson and Locust Street. I loved the ambiance and the environment. The natural light comes in beautifully! Their food offerings are good. The menu was different from my research but that is because they are fine-tuning what they will offer. I enjoyed their special that day, so I ordered a grilled chicken wrap which was served with fresh cucumbers and a bag of local handcrafted chips. The avocado toast with an addition of salmon looked delightful. The presentation of food is definitely a part of the experience. The staff was kind. If you love high ceilings and a dining area that's cosy and roomy at the same, you'll love this spot! It's right in Midtown, I visited during dinner time and had no issues with parking spots. I ordered the grilled cauliflower and the garden of hearts cocktail - excellent pairing. The herbed tahini ties together nicely with the slivered almonds, add that to the crunchy-soft texture of roasted cauliflower...excellent! Anita Cafe and Bar was absolutely delicious. I love supporting women-of-color-owned establishments! The menu offers modern Lebanese dishes. We ordered a lot including the Batata w Bayd ( potoates and eggs, topped with a house spice blend and olive oil and served with a creamy garlic spread), the berries and cream parfait, and avocado toast. I didn't know what to expect with the potatoes and eggs, but it was very tasty, especially with the garlic/tzatziki sauce on top! I also had a Krystal (champagne, rose & lemon, aperitifs, and a fresh rose sprig) and my friend had a latte. I would have preferred the Krystal to be more chilled, but it was still good. Had a very nice lunch at Anita's. The space is very stylish and inviting! Our server was very helpful and patient with us as we chose. My friend and I both got flavored lattes. Fair warning this are very sweet and was a challenge stirring the pistachio syrup on the bottom into the drink. The flavor was very nice. I enjoyed my fatteh, it was warm and hearty. It reminded me of chili not in flavor but more so in thickness and substance. My friends picnic blanket was very good also, I liked the contrast of the nut butter smoothness, jam sweetness and bread softness. Such a cool place! Recently opened in midtown this Mediterranean influenced cafe has amazing coffee, breakfast, and vibes. I tried 3 of the toasts and they were all amazing. The owner is super sweet and helpful when trying to figure out what you might want (tip: Everything is good) so many things are house made and its a great place to meet friends, go on coffee dates, or hang out for a few hours and get some work done! My friend and I had a lot of running around to do today but we really wanted to try this place. Honestly I didn't even know it existed until my friend mentioned it last night. She was talking about it and I just had to go. We arrived at 8:55 to get out day started but the place was dark. The website said it opened at 9am so we were confused. I was just about ready to call when someone got out of a car with grocery bags and went towards the door. It was Anita! How exciting! She explained that she needed to update her website and apologized. She gave us a menu and told us that she doesn't open until 10am. I assured her we'd be back. (My friend from the night before REALLY talked this place up and I was determined to go!) So we went around the corner and down Washington to get a cup of coffee at one of my favorite galleries/ coffee houses to kill time. When we got back we were greeted warmly. I don't think she expected us to come back. We wanted to sit at one of the tables but sadly I have big hips so while I could sit in the chairs I world have been uncomfortable. (There are fancy sofas at table towards the front and long tables with beautiful chairs along the side.) We decided to sit at the big concrete bar. It's a beautiful space decorated with an industrial feel but with a girly touch. Even the bathroom was beautiful. Loved the wallpaper... and it also had good soap. The large open ceilings had the perfect lights hanging from them. It wasn't overly bright but it wasn't dark either and it was really clean. Now to the food... this is not your typical mediterranean food. If you expecting Sharma go somewhere else. This is Lebanese food and she holds true to her heritage. This food is so good! My friend got the Zaatar Toast. This was a large piece of toasted sourdough with some complimentary spices, feta, tomatoes and cucumbers. I tasted it and loved the freshness of it. I had the Ful Medames. I could eat beans at every meal especially garbanzo beans so this was a no-brainer. The dish came with some pita bread but honestly you didn't need it. Who would have thought you could get such amazing flavors from beans, mint and olive oil? I'm sure that if you look at the picture you'll be surprised to know that I couldn't eat it all. It was pretty filling. It was beautifully served as well. Speaking of the person who brought it out to us put the dishes down in front of us and she said "here you go, love". The way the dishes looked and were presented to us made me feel like she had made those dishes with love. It made it all the more special. There was a menu with alcohol and one without. I had the "What a Lady" such an intertwined combo. I'm not sure how it works...espresso and pellegrino... but it does. I liked it and the little lemon on the glass had some interesting spices on it. It's not a sweet drink and I could see myself drinking it again but more of an afternoon drink. My friend got a latte and it was perfectly rimmed with pistachios. The glasses these were served in added to the beautiful ambiance. The bartender was very knowledgeable and I liked all the fact that she answered my questions about Lebanese food and eggs and didn't roll her eyes with my ignorance. (Although it may have been done later. Haha!) I do plan on going back. So why 4 stars? The website is still wrong and the food and drink took a little while to get to us. Don't get me wrong... it was worth the wait and that speed will pick up once they are opened for a longer period of time. So maybe I'll change it after the next time. read more

My husband and I stopped in Anita's Cafe & Bar on a whim after our anniversary brunch, and we couldn't have picked a better place! The owner was incredibly warm and friendly, going above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. The cocktails we ordered were deliciously crafted; like a hug in a cup! Despite our short time there, we were so impressed with the little extra touches the owner added to make our visit and anniversary feel special - it truly felt like we were being hosted by a friend. Came to visit St. Louis for the weekend and came across a wonderful cafe that just opened by the stadium. I'm Lebanese so seeing a place open up serving traditional Lebanese breakfast was all I needed to hear. The owner Anita greeted us with a beautiful smile and was so hospitable. We ordered the fatteh, zaatar toast, and foul medames. The presentation and flavors were out of this world and really took me back to my origins. I had the summer fling, an old fashioned, an Arabic coffee and tea. The tea was so cool! It changed colors when you added lemon and really was incredible. The ambiance and atmosphere was so comfortable and my girlfriend and I enjoyed it so much we went back the next day.
