Your food comes out pretty fast I ordered the Bulgogi rice dish with a salad on the side. It was SO good! My friends split a seafood dish. Everything was delicious. It was a lot. I ended up having leftovers for lunch the next day. They have a good system in place in getting getting ppl in and out of there. The service was great and the atmosphere was lively. I would definitely come back.

I've clearly been sleeping on this place. Finally went with some friends visiting from out of town,…read moreand Hangari Kalguksu did not disappoint -- I see why it's a Ktown staple. The space itself is cute, trendy, and modern, but according to my Korean friends, the food stays true to tradition -- which is exactly what you want from a place like this. There was a line when we got there, but it moved quickly -- and they came around to take our order while we were still waiting, so food came out fast once we sat down. I've had bossam before and always got cold, sliced meat -- not my thing. Here, it comes out hot, and the pork jowl was incredible. I genuinely could not stop eating it, so tender with that perfect grilled edge. They also start you off with a little bowl of barley rice (bori bap) as part of the banchan -- first time trying it and it was such a nice, unexpected touch. We also shared the chicken sujebi and it was pure comfort in a bowl. The hand-torn noodles were perfectly chewy and the broth was seasoned just right -- not too salty, just deeply savory. Heads up on parking: it's tough. I got lucky with street parking but it's only 1-hour limit, so keep an eye on the clock. The lot is valet only and looked chaotic when we pulled up, so budget extra time (and maybe cash) if you go that route. Honestly one of my favorite meals I've had in Koreatown, and a great spot to bring visitors -- my friends loved it too. Already planning my next visit to work through the rest of the menu. Highly recommend, especially if you love Korean comfort food done right.

The level of authenticity can be felt the moment you walk in. Every patron of the restaurant can be seen expressively enjoying their food. When you order a main protein, it comes with your choice of three sides & ofc their famous cornbread muffins. All the food is insanely filling so prepare to take home leftovers. * Beef Links 10/10: A massive, spicy beef sausage on top of a soft & fresh slice of white bread. It can't get any better. It stayed hot throughout my meal & was appreciated so much. That is f***g good. * Cornbread muffins 10/10: DELICIOUSLY served as an appetizer before your meal comes out. Comes fresh & hot with a side of sweet/cinnamon butter. It's perfect. * 8 Pc Wings 10/10: Seriously the best wings I've ever had in my life. Soul food restaurants know exactly how to coat the wings so that they become insanely crispy when fried. That aside, the Hot Honey seasoning was especially flavorful & mouthwatering. *Mac n Cheese 9/10: This is my style Mac. Not too ooey-gooey wet but just a perfect amount of cheese & roux. One point off because it has a smokey taste which just isn't my preference. * Candied Yams 11/10: MY GAWWWD. I'm in heaven. If you like very sweet potato's paired with a perfect buttery cinnamon dressing, then step right up. These are insane. I'm obsessed with that type of thing. *Greens w Turkey 3/10: Was not the biggest fan of this side. The flavor of the turkey overpowered the whole dish. The greens clearly basked with the turkey rather than just being placed together. I couldn't taste the greens, just meat flavoring. * Cabbage 7/10: I love cabbage. This side isn't anything crazy, it's a very simple thing for you to pair with whatever you ordered. Every meal needs one side that rlly holds it down. *Fried Okra 12/10: Seriously, you cannot get soul food without trying fried okra. This is just amazing. Perfectly crispy & delicious.

We got the fried catfish, which was nicely seasoned and crispy, with fried okra, collard greens with smoked turkey, and gravy over rice on the side. My friend got the oxtails with mac & cheese and was probably my favorite dish we tried. The oxtail was rich and tender, and that mac & cheese with the oxtail gravy together was good. We also tried the candied yams, and later got more food to take home because we were too full, like the cornbread. Their watermelon drink was really good too, and we got ours spiked. My friend told me he likes drinking it with Hennessy, so l we had to test that theory afterward. I can confirm it was a good combo. The restaurant itself had a nice, relaxed ambiance and I really enjoyed the food. My only issue was the wait, it was way longer than expected, and I'm still not really sure what caused it. Unfortunately, that was enough for me to knock off a star. Still, the food itself was worth trying, especially if you're craving some comforting soul food. I'd come back, hopefully with a shorter wait next time. 8/10

Broken Mouth sits in LA's Fashion District, and we'll admit we were a little surprised when the GPS said we'd arrived. It's tucked into a small food court in a busy, gritty part of downtown, so it definitely doesn't look like much from the outside. But don't judge it too quickly, because what's inside is absolutely worth it! Street parking is a little tight, so grab a metered spot if you can find one. And if the meter happens to be broken, just take a photo or note it so you don't get an unfair ticket. Quick tip from the owner: their busiest times are right when they open and right before they close, so keep that in mind if you'd rather avoid a wait! The food was excellent! We got the beef plate, and it was so tender and cooked perfectly. It came with purple rice, a fun twist on regular rice, plus a really good potato salad on the side. The local breakfast was my personal favorite, mostly because of the Portuguese sausage. So good! We also had a spam musubi on the side, which was a fun little bite. We also tried the brioche bread pudding, which was a touch dry but still delicious. I'd love it even more with a scoop of ice cream. To drink, we grabbed two Aloha Maid juices, pineapple orange and strawberry guava. Both were tasty, but the strawberry guava was my favorite. The owner mentioned he personally loves the kalbi beef short ribs, so that's on my list for next time. Beyond the food, the owner really made our visit special. He took our order himself and was so kind, humble, and clearly loves what he does. You can tell he genuinely cares about his customers and his food, and it made the whole experience feel warm and welcoming. Overall, such an uplifting experience! Just come prepared for the area and the parking, and you'll have a wonderful time. We will definitely be back for those short ribs!

Sammi, was able to keep up with our refills of ice teas and coffee. Food was ok. We order the Spanish omelet to share and Mediterranean omelet. With sides of sausage and toast. The Spanish omelet was ok. The sauce was meh...it lacked the love that was provided from the old Dinah's. I do look forward to them refining their flavors and find their own taste profile. The decor was cute but lacked the charm and warmth of the old location. It seemed cookie cutter and dated...it follows a base format with no originality to set it apart from other restaurants. Would 10/10 go back as long as Sammi is working. Will walk out if she is not there. I stay loyal to good customer service.

It was about 8:30pm when I took it upon myself to seat us at the bar ourselves. We ordered. The food was pretty good. The veggie lasagna was just cheese and tomato sauce I was hoping for zucchini or some form of veggies in it but there weren't any. It was fun coz you could watch the chef prepare the food however he was picking it all up with his bare hands and we are pretty sure he was getting burnt a lot haha he seemed very sweet and friendly. I'm not sure if I would return to the restaurant. The impact wasn't really incredible. The rest of my party was not into it at all. We did have fun tho.

They had nice texture and a light brine taste. Then shifted to the fried green tomatoes which did not disappoint. They were perfectly crisp but not dry and had a fantastic sauce. Then came the red snapper cake Benedict which is usually crab, but they substituted snapper because they were out of the crab. We did not miss the crab as the snapper was delicious and the egg was perfectly poached. We finished the experience with the shrimp and grits. If you have a minute, I'd like to share a story:…read more I've been meaning to try this place for years, ever since I read their opening in the LA Times. In the article, they mentioned that they had a sandwhich in homage to Pok Pok, a legendary Thai place in Portland that was famous for their fish sauce chicken wings. Unfortunately, this sandwhich was only offered on the weekday lunch menu, which stymied my efforts to try it. In my mind, what I was expecting was a piece of fried chicken coated in the same sauce that Pok Pok was known for, turned into sandwhich form. The "Bring back pok pok" is not that. Which was a disappointment for all of 10 seconds. While the sandwhich was not what I was expecting, it was still excellent on its own merits. It's a fried chicken sandwhich but instead of lettuce and tomatoes, they've used some sort of dried pepper spread, thai basil (I think) and jalopenos). It reminded me more of a bahn mi. It's a flavor profile that works well. I tried a piece of my friends fried catfish, and it was similarly good. The catish was flaky without being dry, and not only was the breading well seasoned, but it was still crispy at the end of the meal. The only thing a little underwhelming was the cornbread. It wasn't bad, but it didn't feel like it did anything noteworthy, and ours could have used a bit more butter (or maybe some more salt). Our server was great, though it was easy for him since we were the only customers for a long while! Still he was easy to talk to and I appreciated how he kept stopping by to fill up our water (they use tiny glasses). The inside has nice "upscale casual" vibes. If I worked in downtown, I could see myself coming here after work. Overall, a pleasant surprise.
