Came here for a quick late dinner. This Turkish spot doesn't skimp on the portions! I got a chicken plate because I saw the huge spit of chicken cooking and it looked delicious. It was pretty good, came with a lot of chicken on a bed of rice, salad, and pickled cabbage. They put the white sauce and hot sauce on the side and also gave a side of flatbread. Kofte wrap with all the veggies for the win. Young man at the counter was wonderfully patient and helpful. Clean deli style restaurant. He walked us through the three different pita options, we chose the least bread-y but kind of regret not trying the Turkish pita as I've never sampled it. The kofte is perfectly spiced. Meat was cooked fresh so there was a wait, but not unreasonable. I highly recommend adding the provided hot sauce and tzatziki sauce to fully round out the flavors. The inside is spacious with plenty of seating although the ambiance is not great. Its dark inside and clean. It's very plain and new feeling just not much of any vibe. The staff was super friendly and helpful. My food came out quickly. There were some people sitting inside. This is a fine place to go to eat alone and casually. The meat was very thinly sliced and had some good flavor but nothing crazy impressive and the flavor was light. Tried the mixed gyro platter and the chicken was flavorful and juicy. The lamb/beef is the processed kind versus the slabs of lamb mixed with fat but it was still tasty. I think you are supposed to get 3 kinds of meat but that was unclear if we did or not. There were 3 spits of meat cooking though. I just looked it up and the Yaprok gyro is the one with pieces of meat rather than minced meat. The small platter was definitely enough for 2 people if you get a side. Also had the babaganoush with bread which was tasty. I wish they maybe offered smaller portions of the spreads so you could get them if you were by yourself. at $9 each they only make sense if you are sharing. Buyer beware; ABSOLUTE GARBAGE! Would give zero stars if I could but it's not possible. I ordered two orders of soup and a chicken shish kabob. What I received was a plastic bag of soup literally. Both containers of soup were delivered with the contents spilled out into the bottom of the bag; a giant inedible mess. Whoever packed the order was out to lunch that day and so was the delivery person. For the record, I ordered from Ankara #3's site. After I received the bag of cr@p, I called Ankara #3 and the person I spoke to was absolutely useless and had zero interest in rectifying the situation, be it a refund or replacing the order. Very tasty lamb kebab and a huge portion, even a small entree is more than enough food for me as a tall guy. Great service and decent ambiance with plenty of seating space. I was heading to the F train, this cold day on March 22, 2024, along Houston Street, when I decided to stopped for a bite. I passed by Ankara and saw a sign that said "good deals on falafels." Hmm. I wondered why it's good deals. Just curious. I went in anyway. The place was very clean and inviting. I ordered the falafel with lettuce, tomatoes, and Bermuda onions, on a pita bread. The yogurt sauce, hot sauce and another sauce was in different containers, which I'm glad. Usually the sauces are poured over the sandwich and it's all messy. They did put a little bit of tasty sauce though. Oh wow! The falafel came hot to the touch, but when I'd opened the wrapper, the veggies inside was cool and fresh!! The 3 falafels were crispy outside and has soft and tasty flavor inside. The side sauces were great also. It was fresh and clean with no oil or grease. I'd enjoyed every bit of it. I took a picture and sent it to my sister and message her how good it was. She said to order her one and her son said "I want one too." Now I'm curious to try other dishes on their menus.
