this looks more than a "few bites left"

We've been loyal patrons of Annadale Terrace for years, but unfortunately, the experiences have declined so much that I felt compelled to share our most recent visit--which will be our last. I ordered a Greek salad with chicken cutlet (dressing on the side), and my friend ordered the chicken salad sandwich. My friend immediately noted that the chicken salad was overly salty and had an overpowering onion taste. She didn't complain--just quietly set it aside and didn't even mention it. As for my dish, I had about three slices of the chicken before realizing it tasted off--like it had been cooked in old oil or was leftover and reheated. Then I noticed the lettuce was soggy. When I moved it around, I saw a pool of water at the bottom of the bowl. It was clear the lettuce had been rinsed but not drained--at all. I showed our waitress, who casually said, "They probably didn't rinse it well enough." What made things worse was the price--$30 for a soggy salad and subpar chicken. We spoke with another waitress, who had it 'reduced' $9, which still felt excessive given the quality. I then waited nearly 20 minutes to speak with a manager. When a young woman finally approached, her attitude was immediately defensive. She questioned my reaction, even asking, "Why are you looking at me like I have five heads?"--in front of other guests. She was literally gaslighting me blaming me for my bad food experience. I admit, that was probably the look on my face.... dumbfounded that someone was speaking to me like that... She accused me of overdressing the salad (I hadn't used any dressing at all) and claimed our original waitress had offered me something else (she didn't). The manager refused a full refund because I had eaten part of the chicken and a few bites of lettuce--despite the dish being genuinely unappetizing. I was asking myself in the moment if this was really happening.... Over the past few years, our takeout orders have often been wrong, and the food has consistently been overly salty or just mediocre. We never made a fuss. Once, we received pita bread with a bite taken out of it--the owner denied it was teeth marks. Another time, my friend was served a completely burned burger. Still, we let it go. But this time, being treated with rudeness and condescension when I finally voiced a legitimate concern was unacceptable. As someone with 15 years of restaurant experience, I understand things happen--but hospitality and accountability matter. Sadly, Annadale Terrace no longer reflects the service, quality, or professionalism it once did. I won't be returning. 7/16/2025 Response to your response, which has the same exact tone as I experienced in person and now readers will see for themselves: Your reply is not only disappointing--it's wildly off-base and exactly how you'd respond. I've dined at Annadale Terrace for over 12 years and had more than 400 meals between myself, friends, and family. Do the math on how much we've spent over the years. We dined in/take out 3-4 times per month- do the math. Never--not once--have I asked for anything to be taken off the bill. So to suggest that I suddenly had an issue just to get a "free meal" is not only insulting, it's ridiculous. The lettuce was waterlogged and wilted and I pushed the lettuce to the sides of the bowl so I could see how much water was there. The chicken tasted off too--facts I pointed out to a second waitress who knows us, who actually came over to inquire, and has waited on us many times. She saw the dish herself and I took pictures of it. Instead of accountability or a sincere apology, your manager chose to gaslight me in front of other guests going so far as to say, "Why are you looking at me like I have five heads?" That wasn't service--it was condescension. To be clear, this was the one time I shouldn't have had to pay for a salad I didn't eat. No one offered me an alternative dish, and we waited an excessive amount of time for someone--anyone--to respond or come to the table. The manager never approached us at our table. Yes, $9 was removed from the bill--but without an apology or explanation, it felt dismissive and transactional. The waitress came back and dumped it on our table. That, combined with the tone and attitude we received, was what made this experience intolerable. I mentioned my background in the restaurant industry not to be lectured, but because it's exactly why I've always given you the benefit of the doubt when food didn't come out right, or take out order was wrong, cold or when service fell short. We let a lot slide over the years--a lot. So don't throw my experience back in my face as if I don't know what I'm talking about. This wasn't about a free meal. It was about your team's refusal to own up to a problem and treat a long-standing customer with even basic respect. Your dismissive response just proves my point: the quality--and the hospitality--at Annadale Terrace is no longer what it used to be.

This food was absolutely delicious! The grilled chicken on top of the salad was juicy and fully cooked and I loved the pita bread on the side. The vodka wrap is mine and my boyfriend's favorite dish at the terrace! It is filled with chicken cutlet, mozzarella, & vodka sauce! Its perfection! Highly recommend this restaurant. I unfortunately don't remember our waitress name but she was great. Extremely attentive and friendly.

Wife and I came for dinner last night since we didn't want to cook. If you live in Staten Island on the south shore there is a chance you have been here. I don't remember having a bad meal here. Love the chicken orzo soup. You get nice big chicken pieces and not like some places where you have to search for the chicken. The soup it's you can see is loaded and not just a lot of broth. Opted to get breakfast for dinner. Steak fries are my preference and as you can see my bacon came out nice and crispy. Staff is very good and attentive. I will forewarn if you come here especially on a Friday or Saturday between say 6-8 you may have to wait a few minutes for a table. This is a pretty big diner and they every table may be taken so that's usually a sign of a good place. They also have a party room upstairs with an elevator and parking lot with an overflow lot next door at the catering hall if there is no event.

Food was fine, service was below average, management was abhorrent. For a family dinner of 6 with 3 kids under 2. We were charged a mandatory service fee of 20%. When mentioned I was not comfortable it was assumed I was to pay 20% for a server who didn't know who ordered what, or the common sense to ask if kids food can serve first. From when we sat down til we got entrees was a full hour. The explanation was only offered during the management conversation but not during the wait. When this was mentioned to management, instead of offering a solution, they argued mandatory tips are added for tables of 5 or more, who's heard of that ever? Refused to make adjustments, and chose to argue with me the way service was absolutely normal. This was not my first visit, previous visits were fine, but this was completely unacceptable and will not be returning. On top of the mandatory 20% was the additional credit card fee charge, none of which were mentioned or displayed at the time of ordering, but only on the bill.

Long black hair on top of the roast beef after we opened the sandwich up to see if there was more.

I am giving 2 starts instead of 1 because the owner ended up doing the right thing. My office ordered lunch from here - a decent sized order about 7 people. My entire sandwich was covered in hair. Not just one piece, not just one side of the sandwich, but the entire thing. I will insert pictures. The entire office was so disgusted that they did not even want to eat anything from here. Not wearing hair nets is unacceptable. I can maybe excuse 1 piece of hair here and there we are all human, but for every part of the sandwich to be covered in black long curly hair is sickening. The owner did refund us after we all stated we refuse to eat anything from this order. However, this place needs a complete 180 this should have never happened!!!

Excellent food, service, and atmosphere!…read more We visited Zara Arthur for a family dinner on Sunday, Feb 16, just next day after the official opening. What a new gem we got in the area! Everything was excellent: nice decor and atmosphere; delicious food and desserts; quick, friendly and attentive service! Restaurant manager Yunus stopped by us to check how we liked the food and the service. We felt like dear guests and enjoyed our visit. We highly recommend Zara Arthur for a delicious Turkish cuisine and great atmosphere! Food ordered Appetizers Balloon Bread with olives - freshly baked, with sesame seeds on top, it was a great start to the meal and a must have complement for the appetizers. Mix Appetizers - 6 cold appetizers to choose. We got: Hummus, Babaganoush, Eggplant Salad, Sauced Eggplant, Aci Ezme, Muhammara. This is certainly a highlight of the menu! Delicious and lets you sample 6 appetizers! All were great and we especially liked Aci Ezme and Muhammara which were something new from the usual Mediterranean fare. Fried Liver Cubes - The liver pieces were soft and tender, perfectly spiced, and overall delicious! Cheese Rolls - great, with melted feta inside. Lentil Soup - excellent, as it should be. Entrees We got 4 different kebabs and all were really excellent and tender. Lamb Shish Kebab - perfect and flavorful. Adana Shish Kebab - delicious and flavorful. Chicken Shish Kebab (small) - our 10y old daughter liked it so much that we didn't even get to try it. Beef Shish Kebab - medium rare, soft, melting in the mouth. However, flavor was a bit lacking on this one. Some marinade or spices would make it better. Desserts Baklava - very fresh! Kazandibi (milk pudding) - good Keskul (almond pudding) - good Tea - this was one of the best teas I ever had in a restaurant! Not a bagged tea, but freshly brewed, strong and aromatic!

Interior design is so aesthetically pretty and provides a wonderful and elegant dining experience!…read moreThe service provided by Behrouz was attentive, friendly, and warm, which definitely helped enhance the dining experience! Now onto the main topic, the food: This is by far one of the better middle eastern/seafood restaurant in all of Staten Island! The appetizers that were amazing were the chargrilled octopus, which is a MUST-GET, and the half dozen oysters which was by far one of the sweetest oysters we ever had (it was so good we ordered 3 orders!) The tuna tartare, calamari, and lobster bisque were all decent but nothing too special. For entree, the lobster pasta was perhaps one of the best tomato based pasta I ever had! Although the amount of lobster in the dish was on the smaller amount for its price, the flavor was so savory, sweet, and perfectly tangy, highly recommend it! The sea bass was good according to my family, but the flavor was on the milder side in my opinion; they liked it nonetheless so perhaps it's just a personal preference at this point. The lamb shank I would not get due to how overpowering it was; the sauce was salty and intense, where it overwhelmed every part of the dish. It was unfortunate because the lamb was so tender and had a nice proportion between its meatiness and its fat content. The dry aged steak was only okay too, since the spinach was so watery it soaked the steak in its liquid (as you can see from the photo), which detracted from the dish unfortunately. Overall it was a decent dining experience, where some were amazing and others were less so. It's a pricey dining experience but if you get all the right dishes, it's worth the price tag! Definitely recommend giving Sea Bar a try and I can't wait to come back again one day to give them the five stars I know they can definitely accomplish! Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:

They had the grilled watermelon salad and beets apps also delicious . Bronzino that was given was a hearty amount. The drinks were on point. I found this place by accident. I was heading down. Hylan, toward a diner that I like. I saw name…read moreon the sign, and it looked like a nice restaurant. Not knowing what type of a restaurant it is, I decided to stop in. What a pleasant surprise. It was a Turkish restaurant. There was a good amount of people in there, but it looked like I was the only "white boy." Everybody was very friendly, and the place was clean. I liked the atmosphere. I started with the baba ghanoush. I loved it. The flavor of the roasted eggplant was delicious. And the roasted flavor kept it from being too rich. It was creamy and delicious. I almost didn't have enough bread to put it on. And believe me, I was piling the bread high with that stuff. There was also a small bowl of marinated green olives on the side. I normally do not like green olives, but these were fantastic. The olive oil marinade kept them from being too bitter for me. For my main course, I had the Adana kebab. Ground lamb, red bell pepper, and paprika. I had a small, which was one kebab. It also came with a very nice marinated salad, and a decent size portion of rice, which was tender and had a good flavor to it. It also came with a red sauce and a tzatziki sauce.. the red sauce was too spicy for me, and the tzatziki I put some of it on the rice, and then the rest I dipped my kebab. The kebab wasn't spicy at all, and the red bell pepper, and the paprika gave it a great flavor, it was not gamey like lamb can be. It was also very tender. Everything was so good, I ended up finishing the entire dinner, and I was stuffed. I would've loved to try a Turkish coffee, but it was like 8 PM, and I didn't want to be up for the rest of the night... :). The price was reasonable. The only reason I'm taking off a star, is because they add an automatic 18% gratuity to the check, and then there's also a spot down at the bottom for a second gratuity. That's why you need to read your check very carefully. If you don't notice the automatic gratuity, you might end up paying a double tip. I thought the automatic 18% gratuity was more than fair. This was a great place. They also do breakfast. I would like to come in and try breakfast sometime. Thank you.

It all kind of skeeved me out but we stayed. We placed our food order. We never were offered water. I asked for a soda and they brought me just a can, I had to ask for a cup of ice and waters. The service was not overly attentive. They barely came over to us. I needed something so I had to walk up near the register to get their attention. A bunch of the workers were standing together it took one a minute to notice me. I got the chicken shish- some pieces of chicken were very chewy I couldn't eat them. Others were okay. I did enjoy the rice it came with. Ultimately, I just think for how empty it was we should've gotten a little bit better service.
