The food was absolutely amazing and the restaurant itself is beautiful. Made for a magical lunch!

Came here on a Friday night, I first noticed the prepared plates and cups on the table-- the plates were dirty and still had staining from a previous use. With that said, the service was interesting to say the least, the hospitality wasn't felt, and the server reeked of cigarettes, which later was felt among the restaurant. With that said, the food wasn't terrible. The muscles were by far the star of the night, I loved loved how they did the red sauce, and they were very soft. Ontop is garlic bread, a perfect paring to dip the sauce. The dish as a whole, delicious. The salmon dish was decent, well cooked salmon, the fruity sauce nor veggies didn't wow me. I would appreciate a variety in options for sides. The calamari was also decent, not very crunchy but solid. The bread as a starter was interesting, it wasn't fresh, and I wasn't informed on what exactly it was. The sauce included, with that said it was also decent. Overall, I probably wouldn't return here, the food was okay, and the service is what really turns me away from dining in, as well as its cleanliness. read more

When my husband said he booked us a place to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary all by himself by simply asking Google what the best Italian restaurant in all of Staten Island, I was pretty impressed, shocked and slightly suspicious all at the same time. The pictures looked delicious enough to lick my phone, and the menu had all the great staples you'd want in a celebratory dinner. I was pleased and excited for our dinner. We made early reservations (5PM) this past Saturday, and got to have a comfy, sun-drenched seat by the window over looking their outdoor seating patio that probably gets mobbed come the summer months. We started with a prosecco for me and hubby got a rum and coke. When Dan our waiter brought out caponatina with onion and lightly sauced foccacia bread, I knew we were in for a real treat. We fought over the bread and I was awed by how great the eggplant dish tasted. So far, so damn good. Their specials of the night were one more tempting than the next, but I ended up with the funghi pappardelle pasta while my husband can't give up his penne alla vodka with grilled chicken on top. I too was tempted to switch last minute to the veal marasala, but my fat cells were called to the carbs. We wanted the baked clams to start (8 shells) and it was the best decision we made to start off the night. These were the BEST baked clams I've had in a REALLY long time. Hubby was sopping up the lemon and breadcrumb sauce like he was heading for the electric chair. I knew better that I had to pace myself. If my husband's vodka dish was a 10/10, mine was a 12/10; no far exaggeration. Pasta cooked to al dente and the notion the pasta wasn't drowning in the sauce was a tall-tale sign, they were confident in their freshly made pasta and their sauce. On my first bite, I already had texted 3 people that I was dragging them here to try this place. The vibe was classic, but not stuffy, and very clean and inviting. Upscale Manhattan-feeling without burning a hole in your wallet. Dan was so wonderful and checked on us throughout our meal and even gave us Italian cheesecake to share on the house to end our meal with a literal cherry on top. We both felt super special and catered to. The finest in Italian comfort food. We'll be back several times before the year's over. read more

We were a party of 5 on a Saturday night. First the negatives: small very loud place that has a small utility bar (not to sit at). Our table was extremely wobbly and we heard the server say that all the tables were like that! Service was a bit slow (but friendly) at first. After we were there for more than 15 minutes I took my tables drink orders and went to the bar to order the drinks since the servers were too busy. The service did get better as the night went on. Now the positives: the food was excellent. I had veal "Marco Polo". It came topped with a slightly sweet brown sauce over prosciutto, mushrooms and mozzarella. It may have been the best veal dish I ever had. Shorts ribs, crab stuffed filet of soul, veal parm and pasta with sausage and broccoli rabe rounded out the tables entrees. Everyone enjoyed their dish. Apps including baked clams, mussels in white sauce and fried calamari were all enjoyed by the table. The lack of ambiance and somewhat spotty service is made up for by the food. A solid place. 5 stars if they spruce it up and add an employee or two! read more

Food was extremely salty and expensive 28 for chicken parm with penne macaroni No lunch menu we were there at 1 oclock We were given regular menu no one was in restaurant my friend asked for lunch menu waiter said scallops and something else. made a reservation for two on 12/31. We showed up and there was no one to seat us at our table, just one person behind the bar. We sat ourselves and then 15 minutes later we received our waters. bread came out at around the 20 minute mark. We didn't put in our drink and food orders until being there for about 30 minutes. Put our order in, server doesn't write anything down, but that's alright seen plenty of servers work that way. Appetizer comes out 25 minutes later, and the calamari was pretty good. So now we have Been here more than an hour, which is alright I guess but longer then usual from my experiences before reconfiguring a main dish. Then after the the appetizer gets taken away we then wait another 30 minutes for our main dish. We start getting antsy and hungry and the server comes up and tells me the food should be out soon. Great! Wait another 10 minutes and server comes back and asks me what I ordered and my date. I respond and tell him shouldn't you know that? At this point he goes back and asks my date after she is coming back from bathroom what she ordered and now they have our order and hour and a half later. Server comes back and I ask him how much longer until we get our food, to which he says the tickets got lost in the kitchen and should be another 10 minutes. We wait another 10 minutes and nothing, ask server again and couldn't tell us when food will be ready. Will not be recommending this restaurant or returning. What a shame. read more

Words cannot describe how delicious the food is. Last night would have been my family's second time dining at this gem. From start to finish, the staff made us feel welcome and eager to make us have a wonderful evening. My picky eaters finished their plate of food, and bonus points for having my husband's favorite whiskey. Some favorite appetizers that I can recommend are the Octopus, Mussels, Burrata (a special), Crab Cakes (a special), and the Scallops ( a special). Some recommendations for entrees are my favorite, the Funghi, the Ragu pasta dish, the Chicken Capricciosa, the Filet of Sole, the Pork Chop, and the Short Rib. The atmosphere was welcoming and cozy. It tops all the Italian restaurants I have tried by far, anywhere. read more

The place is small and gorgeous. Dan was our waiter and his service was exceptional. My friend had chicken francaise and I ordered the stuffed filet of sole but with scampi sauce instead of lemon butter caper sauce. WOW SO DELICIOUS!! Stopped by on a quiet Tuesday evening, virtually had the place to ourselves. Ambiance was nice, but music was a touch loud. Service was prompt and polite. We ordered: -Calamari -Cesar salad -Ragu -Sole All the food was good, but the sole was absolutely delicious, far above the rest. I wished I lived here so I could eat it all the time. This place was absolutely amazing!! From start to finish the service was super attentive and personable which made me feel at home. The food truly blew me away !! The pasta was sooo fresh and packed a lot of flavor I basically licked the bowl clean !!! Not to mention the octopus was sooooo tender it melted in my mouth. To make a great night even better their selection of liquor and wines was extensive and truly top tier it shows how much love and thought they put into their menu. It's been too long since we last visited. Happy to see that they had a full house, understandably so. Service was on point as were the cocktails. My wife loved her Butternut Squash soup (served with crispy bacon) and I loved the long hots. Dinner was as enjoyable. I haven't had a Chilean Sea Bass as well done as here (oreganata style on top of spinach and mashed potatoes with capers). My wife's pappardelle with a creamy mushroom sauce was exceptional. Dessert and coffee were excellent. On an island with so many Italian restaurants, if you haven't visited here you are missing something special. read more

I want to give a 5 star review to this establishment. Their food is excellent and service is second to none. Ask for Dan when you go. He is a star and will make you want to come back for both his service and the food. I am owner of Superior chocolates and have been on Staten Island for 114 years with our family business. I don't go out of my way to write reviews to often but this place deserves special mention. Even the little things are good.... like the olives in the martini's for example. It's easy to cheap out on small things but they don't. It's small and has good ambience and you seldom have to fight the crowds to get a table. It may not be that way for long! The entire experience was amazing! We had a birthday party here for myself and my mom with a prefixe menu that my mom and Dan made. Literally EVERY SINGLE FOOD ITEM was out of this world. The mushroom pizza, filet oreganata, and eggplant rollitini were the absolute winners but literally every item including salads, calamari, fried zucchini, chicken parm/francese, flank steak and the pizzas were all to die for. The service and hospitality were great and made you feel like you were having a meal at home, every request was taken care of asap. Dan even offered to pick up a can of Pepsi for my Pepsi loving grandma since they serve coke products. Overall amazing and I'm so glad to have this addition in Staten Island. Had dinner last night with a few friends. Dan, our server and host made the entire experience and absolute pleasure. I've been to Osteria twice now: once for lunch and once for a party of 12 for my Dad's birthday. The food is fantastic! All the appetizers are winners. The pasta is cooked al dente to perfection. My husband and I recently ate here. The food was amazing, the service was impeccable. The only reason for the 4 stars was the T.V.s. The restaurant was cozy, and dimly lit, perfect for a date night. However, the 3 televisions were a distraction for me. I'm not saying they need to go, maybe they use them for some reason, I didn't ask. This doesn't seem like a sports bar, but maybe they host events that need them. My suggestion is when there isn't something on that people aren't actually going there to watch they should consider turning them off or putting up scenery photos to scroll every few minutes. If I wanted to watch the news while I was eating dinner I can eat at home. Aside from the televisions I highly recommend giving this place a chance.
