On November 23 my dad & went to Annadale Terrace Restaurant to eat with 3 other couples. We've enjoyed this restaurant for many years. We arrived at 5:30, we couldn't be seated until all couples arrived. Our friend who has stage 4 cancer traveled from Brooklyn with her husband. Everyone arrived and we were seated. We had dinner and coffee. The food was very good. Unfortunately, a woman approached the table and announced, "We need this table for a birthday party." "They have a reservation." We were astonished. The check & tip was over $400. Our gathering was a celebration also, a celebration of life. Our gathering was cut short. This experience deserves an explanation from the owner. I was a regular at Annadale Terrace. No longer. Food: On two separate visits, I received dishes that were overly salted. My dining companion had the same issue once, and she started to bring her own coffee because she couldn't drink the restaurant's. And look out for SURCHARGES (as described below). Service: At my most recent visit, my dining companion asked if she could get a substitute for the French fries that came with her wrap. She definitely could, but was not told there would be a $5.95 SURCHARGE. When we questioned the charge at the end, we were told "it says so in the menu." Yeah, it does, but not on the page where her item was found. Because it was printed on the menu *somewhere,* the manager refused to remove the salad-substitution surcharge, which *ADDED 37% TO THE COST OF HER MENU SELECTION.* Were they sorry? Well, the waiter said so, but the manager was entirely unapologetic. Not sorry for the waiter's error in omitting reference to the surcharge. Because the customer did not read every line on every page of the menu to hunt down the advisory, we still had to pay the extra. Ambiance: LOUD. Be prepared to shout to have conversations during regular meal times. [It's less noisy during in-between hours.] Their website says they offer, among other things, "exceptional service, respect and commitment," and that they want "every patron to feel and be treated like family." That used to be my experience, but no longer. My latest visit will be my last. Why did I give it more than one-star? Because more times than not, the food is good and the wait staff is pleasant & professional. Portions are good and prices are not unreasonable, though high for many items. BEWARE: The menus says that prices are subject to change WITHOUT NOTICE. Make sure to ask your waiter if the price shown is the actual price. The manager will surely not refund the additional costs because "it says so on the menu" and the wait staff is not required to give the customer any warning. read more

Not sure why this place has less than 3 stars but I loved the breakfast food. There was a wait of about 20 mins but it is also a very busy restaurant. We had chocolate chip pancakes, western omelette and a cheddar cheese omelette all very delicious. The service is great as well and food arrives super quick. read more

My husband and I are regulars here; we go to the restaurant and order takeout/delivery frequently- extremely disappointed with today's order. My husband ordered and waited for takeout, simple order Grilled Chicken Greek Salad and a tuna wrap. He gets home and we open the bag and there was a grilled chicken Caesar salad. At $20 for a salad I want what I ordered. I called up and told the gentleman who answered what happened and he put me on hold for ten minutes. I had to hang up and call back twice to speak to a human. They apologized and said they would deliver a new salad - well it's been an hour and no salad. You can start with breakfast and work your way through dinner. There is everything from eggs and omelettes, to french toast or pancakes. Work your way into lunch and there are sandwiches, salads, soups, and hamburgers of all varieties. Then move on to dinner and have steaks, fries, chicken, seafood or pasta. There is pages and pages to select from. Of course, there is dessert when you are finished. Pies, cakes, muffins, ice cream and puddings. It is all here for you to select from. It is worth the effort to tray and see what you like. The service is ideal (in the way we now live). they are there to help you out. There is no rush. It is wonderful. And the prices are right. Not expensive for what you are getting from a dinner. Of course, this is not like your local dinner. This is a step above in design. As for the taste....It is a basic dinner. This was my second time visiting the diner. I feel very disappointed that employees here aren't trained on how to treat customers that are disabled. A wheelchair is not the only way you can see if a child is disabled. Some children are very young and use their stroller as a "wheelchair". On Sunday we got to the diner around 10am. The diner did not have a wait and many tables were unoccupied. I asked the hostess if she could accommodate us with one of the larger tables since one of the guests with our party requires the stroller as a wheelchair. The hostess offered us a small booth that wouldn't fit us. I asked if we could take a larger table. She told us we can take the smaller table she's offering or leave. It was very uncomfortable because the restaurant shouldn't turn away customers because they are disabled. After 10 mins of trying to negotiate another employee came over. She was much more understanding and offered us a table that could fit us. The experience we had was extremely disheartening. I left wondering why there isn't training about how to handle disabled customers. Yes, they do have a donation bin for Michaels Cause, but do the employees have training on how to treat customers like Michael? By the time we finally sat my kids were frustrated from waiting and took me a while to settle. It was embarrassing for our family to be treated this way. I ordered the Staten Island wrap. It was good but could have used more bacon. The fries had a crispy casing. My husband got pancakes. He said they were fine. Our waitress was quick and efficient. We had to ask several times if our food was coming out-- all we ordered were some simple Belgian waffles and corned beef hash. Nothing complicated. We just had ordered the week before; the lamb gyro on pita w/rice & the chicken shush kebab both were delicious & fresh over rice & spinach pie. When we ordered the other night it had looked like they had given us someone else's leftover food. So I had called to let them know (after paying $65.+) . The girl that had taken the order kept arguing w/me never offered to credit me or apologize to me (knowing the Customer is Always right) had complained to her Manager (Melinda) who said I told the girl she was incompetent which I would Never say to someone! I've come here for years as well as have always ordered via delivery. Today I called in and was charged a $5 delivery charge. This is new as I've never been told about a delivery charge. I asked if the $5 went to the kid delivering and was told it didn't. This is dirty as hell...the owner is a pig taking additional $$ for no reason, if it went to the delivery driver it wouldn't be an issue. Every time I go here it's a different story. Ordered eggs Benedict that is supposed to come on an English muffin and it's on rye bread. Not to mention they forgot the hollandaise sauce which is a key component of eggs Benedict. I went back in to ask for it and the blonde woman at the counter doesn't even know what I'm talking about yet she's the owner??? To top it all off there's tiny hairs in the sauce. This place is overrated and is the result of staten islanders hyping up a place that has no business being in business.
