The south shore of Staten Island has a smorgasbord of its own fancy Diners. Annandale Terrace is newly remodeled and does not appear like a Diner at all. When you open the menu however it offers you the variety of a diner. They have the absolute best pancakes on the south shore of Staten Island. Fluffy, with a hint of vanilla. All of the portions are huge, the service is always great. It can be a little noisy but overall it's a great local spot. Annandale terrace looks nothing like a traditional diner it's a modern country club. I do not know why it has so many bad reviews. The food is always fresh and reasonably priced. read more

We went today to see room to book a party.after seeing upstairs we decided to eat lunch .Good beginning the food was ok the service was very slow after eating a bite I did not feel well waited 30 min no waitress I wanted my.check.I asked amp other waitress so she called mine .i asked for my wrap and fries to go along with my husband and dUghters Ipaid bill left tip and went home . 1* bc 0* isn't there. After the 2nd time I ordered from the app, we swore we wouldn't again. They had 4:44 mins to prepare a club sw & chicken fing w fries. It wasn't ready when we got there 15 mins later then our pick up time. My daughter & I meet 1x a wk for lunch. Both f/t++. Today was our lunch 45 mins. The other app I wanted to use wasn't working. I didn't want to spend too much time on it while at work. I said screw it, ordered from this place. Well... I placed my order on the app, in the 11am hour to be picked up at 1:15. My daughter gets there at 1:30, not ready. They say their app was down.. HOWEVER THEY TOOK MY MONEY ASAP. I think the app worked.. My daughter reordered our food, changed hers to a grilled cheese w bacon- which is $4 less. They did not refund the difference. My daughter thought they did, they didn't. I saw that they gave me fries instead of potato salad. When I called, the female daytime manager was very rude & nasty. It's not her fault, what does she want me to do about it, it's not her fault the app is down etc. Then she tried to place blame on me for not looking for notifications... I was at work, the $ was taken out, that was good enough for me at the time. I work at work. All she kept doing was saying it wasn't her fault. She said (not asked) what do you want me to do about it.. I said you can have the pot salad delivered to my house. She said they don't have a delivery person. I said you can refund my order. She said she can't do that. Her idea of a compromise was me coming there after work to pick up the pot salad I wanted for lunch. I did call again, spoke to a nice man named Steve, he told me the daytime manager isn't there now, Mike is. As I was speaking to Mike, who was mostly nodding, a waitress came over. She tried to make it sound like she was all nicey nicey earlier on the phone. I didn't realize she was the same one bc in person she was telling a totally different conversation then the one we actually had. IFO the manager she was acting as tho she was so sweet & nice. UM NOT. NASTY is more like it. I asked for the $ difference to be refunded, while she spoke AT me, she told me I would have to come back on Monday (today is Friday March 15th, 2019). I don't have time to chase down $4. This Mike manager seemed intimidated by this waitress. I told him she was lying, that is not how she spoke to me earlier. She kept coming back, interjecting her comments. It's 4$... really I have to come back.. not likely. We will just boycott the place. When I finally got home, I told my other daughter about this. She said she doesn't know why we bother going to that place. Anytime we went there, the waitstaff has been nasty, so we stopped going. She said how we didn't go for years, now you go. I realize it was convenience when crunched for time. I told her how I forgot about us boycotting the place when she was little, I said the nasty waitress said she's been there for 16 years.. she replied how she was probably one of the nasty ones we had back then. I plan to contact the owner in a couple of weeks, seems he's having surgery of some kind. If you like nasty staff.. go there. the nasty one is an older 'blonde' woman. Planning any party is stressful let alone in three weeks but they made my sons baptism as stress free as possible. It was a hot windy day but they went above and beyond to make sure everyrthing went smoothly. Our event planner suzie was great and beyond helpful as well as the owner. Usually owners are absent and just collect the bill but he was there the entire time. Food is amazing if I could give more then five stars I would. And also the wait staff they were amazing. Mixed feelings based on today's dining. After a nice night out, a few friends & I decided to come out to eat here around 11:30pm. The second we walk in , all the staff looked at each-other in disappointment. One woman screamed "WHERE ARE ALL THESE PEOPLE COMING FROM?! THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS WHEN HE SAYS WE CAN LEAVE EARLY!" Clearly the staff was annoyed that there was business? It wasn't even that late for a diner ... then, one of the host' says to my friend "we are closing in half hr!" As if to tell her to eat fast and get out. We waited for someone to take our order for longer than that time. You'd think if they want to go home so badly theyd , idk, serve us? When a waiter finally came over, he was actually very friendly and personable, quick, and the food was good. But as for all the female workers that were there tonight in a rush to leave and push out customers... terrible service. I don't know that i'd be returning here after this experience. read more

Tried it out for the first time after hearing so many great reviews about the food from neighbors and friends. All I could say is wow, no wonder the place is always crowded. My son ordered the pasta with seafood, and they sent out the wrong plate. It had seafood, just not everything that was on his original order. We didnt even notice. About half way through the meal,(my son was ripping through it) the owner comes out with his original order, apologizes, and places it on our table. He told us to all pick, or bring it home. There was so many large chunks of seafood on there, you couldnt even tell there was pasta underneath. Basically the most delicious scallops, shrimp, clams and mussels Ive ever had, and I eat at numerous restaurants around Manhattan entertaining surgeon clients. Really, since my son was already half way through his original dish, the owner didnt have to do that - but he did. He was so incredibly gracious about it, and even apologetic. As for prices, it cost a few bucks less then our semi regular trip to local chain restaurants - which compared to this place, has garbage for food. My daughter and I had Panini's which were light years ahead of diners in the neighborhood.. She also raved over the French onion soup. My wife had this incredible salad. We also ordered 2 plates of fried calamari, which puts to shame the calamari we get at many Italian restaurants in the neighborhood. It was fresh, fluffy, and had a nice soft crunch. Their service was fine. Really dont know what the other posters were complaining about. You could tell the food is fresh, so its going to take a bit longer to cook than the crap you get at chain restaurants. Again, all I could say is wow. Great food, nice looking restaurant, and an incredibly gracious owner. He's the type of guy who could invite over to your house for dinner and feel perfectly comfortable. read more

Today one of our party ordered a one of the salads w/ dressing on the side BUT it arrived drowned in dressing, so it was sent back and a replacement was literally thrown together - the lettuce was not washed and there was sand on the lettuce and in the dish. Too bad that the diner expanded into a larger & nicer looking space with outdoor seating, BUT the food and service have suffered for it. For good food I'll be going to Andrews. Will just have to find another place with nice outdoor seating [the Burrito Bar comes to mind - but I think the tequila mostly makes everything outdoors just seem nicer]. read more

This place used to be decent but not anymore. I ordered broiled scallops. I was given a choice of vegetables and I chose spinach. My portion was 5 medium sized scallops in a lemony sauce. Decent not great. The spinach was steamed and flavorless. It also came with a salad. Who serves iceberg lettuce?? Tasteless. My husband had stuffed sole. It was a nice sized portion and he said it was good but the crabmeat stuffing was mostly bread. He was told he could have a starch or a vegetable. The server said spinach, broccoli or string beans. He chose string beans. When the bill came, there was a $2.50 charge for string beans. When he inquired about it he was told they are not part of the vegetables offered as a side. Then why would the waitress mention them? She should have stated they were extra. In all, 2 unsweetened ice teas, 2 dinners plus tip came to $82.00! Ridiculous for subpar diner food. What happened to this place? It was so much better when it was the Annadale diner in the smaller space. No pickles or coleslaw or rolls served either. Never again! read more

While the new place is very pretty, it's cold- the staff is cold, and I can't figure out why there is the constant drone of the bass and drums of the music emphasized during breakfast/lunch, or dinner for that matter. Just because they have a better sound system doesn't mean they have to use it at inappropriate times. More appropriate for a bar/hangout than an eating spot. Excellent dinner menu offering soup or salad,meal and dessert. The quality of food is that of fine dinning but the dishes are enormous and you will leave with left overs. Sangria is dry and delicious. I prefer the red. From the omelets to the carving board, to the meat, fish and penne, Annadale Terrace is the place for an enjoyable meal. There are two kinds of diners. Most fall into the category (only order sandwiches and/or breakfast). There are a few that fall into the category (It's ok to order from the rest of the menu). The Annadale Terrace just looks great, both inside and outside. This leads you to believe that this diner might actually fall into the second category. So you go there and actually try to order from the rest of the menu. Unfortunately, this results in a big disappointment because the service and/or food will be bad. You'll experience an even greater sense of disappointment because because the place actually looks nice. I can't figure out why the service is so poor, they have lots of staff around but somehow they can't get things done right or on time. From my point of view stick to the pancakes, blt's, and burgers if you want to leave in a good mood. All that this place needs is a good manager. read more

My friends and I have been going to Annadale Terrace for years usually for breakfast sometimes lunch depending on our schedule. This morning 4 of us went and we ordered the coffee and it was very bitter so we asked the waitress if we can have different cups we said maybe it was the bottom of the pot(?)Apparently she got upset with us and as she was walking away she started complaining about us to the other waitresses. Another waitress came over and said if we didn't like it we could leave and go someplace else. Over coffee???? We asked to speak to the manager, the usual one was not there and this guy could have cared less. Waitress never apologized they gave us a new waitress and as we were leaving the waitress both of them started yelling at us. I'm actually very shocked over this, we are not teenagers, we are mothers, teachers, and a nurse and no one should ever be treated in a restaurant establishment like that ever. They really did a beautiful job decorating this diner. It feels more like a upscale casual dining experience but it has a diner menu with diner prices. The food is really good and fresh and the first visit we went with a large group and every one loved what they had. I would have given it five stars but my second visit was a little off. There seems to be a huge turnover with staff and some of the waitresses there are kids with attitudes. Also, some nights the food and presentation are outstanding and other nights it seems like diner food with no real care. Don't get me wrong, the food is always pretty good, but you can definitely tell a difference with the consistency.
