Awesome coffee and workspace. The baristas were friendly and I got a pourover for just $5, which felt great coming from Seattle.

We grabbed some iced lattes here visiting PDX for a friend's graduation. I got a vanilla syrup for me and regular for my partner. It was no fuss coffee, but it was convenient for my partner to take a virtual work training. This shop had a neat co-working space with mini noise cancellation phone booths where folks seemed to be taking their virtual meetings. Also featured artwork by a local artist using yellow onion peels; so sustainably PDX lol. She stopped by and was showing a friend and I had no idea she was the artist until the friend pointed showed her off. Cute exchange haha. 4/5

I'm so happy this place exists! Perfect for working, lots of seats and outlets, free WiFi, 3 soundproof booths and unisex bathroom. 5 star for space, decor and ambiance for a work setting but the pastry and drinks are just okay in my opinion. Not bad but not something I'd go out of my way to drive to and order. Mainly come here for the workspace. Street parking has generally been okay to find. The menu says latte but they have flavor syrups that aren't listed. I ordered a lavender latte and the lavender flavor was extremely mild to the point where I didn't quite notice it. Blueberry cheese pastry was pretty good but not amazing. I really appreciate the very reasonable pricing!! Can't remember but it was lower than average.

Coming from the Bay Area, it makes me appreciate a place like this where they specifically call it a workspace. Prices are honest and actually very reasonable, coffee is perfect to go along with the work ahead of you that day. Appreciated the warmth and friendliness of everyone, and also the atmosphere of the place in general. When I come back to Portland, this will definitely be the place I come to work and chill!

I miss the pre-pandemic days of dragging myself off my home couch to go work for a few hours at a coffee shop. This place allows that to be possible even now with masked staff / patrons and distanced / sanitized tables. What makes it a good place to work? Outlets near almost every table. Music is a good volume that allows you to think but not overhear everyone's conversations. Free wifi with password displayed at every table. What could be better? Pastry and coffee options were just fine. Not the most amazing coffee cake I've ever had but certainly edible, and a little odd to add whip cream on top of apple cider. Still good. Only other thing missing for me is a comfy couch or oversized chair to nestle into!

It's so nice (and rare) to find a nice coffee shop where you can actually sit and work while enjoying delicious coffee these days! This coffee shop was built for getting work done. There are three of these cool little individual study rooms, a printer and lots of other tables! The inside has great lighting, decorations and ambiance. And the coffee...AMAZING! I tried the maple cinnamon latte with oat milk and it was fall in a cup. Especially with the whipped cream! Worth every calorie. The baristas were super sweet and welcoming too. Only sad part is that it's closed on Sundays!

i stopped by here with my friend to get some work done. the neighborhood is a little bit sketchy as there was a man who stumbled in cursing, and reeking of cigarette smoke, but the baristas and the other patrons didn't pay him any attention and he left. the baristas working here were kind, but nothing too special to note because i just ordered and sat down. noise level wise, we were able to finish a bit of our work as when we were here the cafe was quiet. there are plenty of outlets and great natural and artificial lighting and wifi to aid in getting work done. there was also a private booth for meetings and calls when i last came here too. i got the 16 oz mocha and i liked how light and smooth the coffee was! the tulip latte art was also really pretty and i almost didn't want to drink it... studying rating: 8.5/10!!! a good place to come and get work done.

Are you looking for a place to WFH away from home? This is your place!! A few blocks away from Hawthorne, Eastside Coffee Bar is a small, quiet cafe with delicious coffee, mellow lighting, and plenty of seating. They also feature a couple of phone booth-like offices (?) for private phone calls and/or video calls. They offer a wide selection of coffee options from Coava and pastries for some work/study fuel. They have the wifi password available at every table, preventing my awkward self from trying to look for it by the register. I went on a Monday morning, and it was pretty busy. Most of the tables were filled for the entirety of my stay. Definitely try to arrive early if you plan on establishing home base for a couple of hours. Most of the people there were either studying or working, so I didn't feel too distracted. Thank you to Eastside for providing us options to WFH!! I'll be back!

When I don't know what to do with my day, or I have work to catch up on, I go to Tov and go from there. Drink-wise, I often go for a Mucho Caliente, the "Mushit," a mushroom-based chai invention, or a Rose Mocha. I've had mochas all over and none compares to the way Joe and his staff concoct the drinks at Tov. The chocolatey-ness, viscosity, mouthfeel, flavor, sippability, sweetness, always satisfy my palate, and the balance of coffee to other flavors is always to my preference. Their drinks are decadent and may take a bit longer to make than expected, and I find it is well worth the wait. I enjoy getting comfortable on Joe's very colorful red cushions, taking in the purple Egyptian vibes within and the eccentric vibrancy that is Hawthorne outside. Fun fact: Joe doesn't believe in plain old ice, and instead he freezes cubes of milk! The cubes stratify into discrete layers that are fun to crunch through, reminiscent of the layers of baklava. Very enjoyable for someone who normally avoids ice or chewing on ice.

Lots of people hanging out in the shop, some working, some talking, but it seemed like a good spot to get some stuff done. There was music playing that set a welcoming mood. Overall, highly recommend if you enjoy flavored lattes.

Located on Hawthorne just past the curve at 50th, they've got plenty of free street parking in the nearby blocks. The intentions were genuine and things have progressed in a way where Albina Press is one of the most recognized coffee brands in the city. It's not too dissimilar from its OG sister location in North Portland (#3), where they still brew high quality caffeinated drinks with the vibes of a homey communal space with chairs, couches, and individual tables for a proper coffee date, WFH worthy WiFi, and plenty of anti-war propaganda in the self-serve water area in the back. The latte art was on point, the cold brew was most definitely strong, cafe au lait was milky and foamy in the best way, and the americano drinks were fabulous. While their hours (#4) aren't particularly suited for after-work hours, they do an excellent job of keeping their space clean and the vibes low key throughout the morning and afternoon. Prices are good for Portland standards. Most drinks are $5 and under, even for the largest sizes. The limited but high quality pastry selection is also appreciated. The service was good overall, just be certain with the order and don't be afraid to ask for recommendations. Lines can happen, albeit rarely, and I would encourage most folks to drink the coffee on the spot. The space is part of the experience (be weary of the restrooms tho), so enjoy the low key ambiance with a drinkable jumpstart to the day. Their shop is very curated and is definitely has a "recently here because of gentrification vibe." However, I know it's been in Portland for a while and locals swear by it. With shops like these I find it easy to focus and work. The minimalist and industrial decor is a great place for adhd brains like mine. I was warmly greeted by someone at the register. I was interested in so many choices on their matcha. Horchata iced coffe, orange latte, strawberry Ube matcha. I asked the barista if they do exchanges or remakes for drink if the customer dislikes what they ordered. She mentioned they have a NO REMAKES policy. I knew it was time to lock in instead of trying something Willynilly. She was super patient with me as I wondered what to get and discussed my hesitations. She let me sample a tiny amount of the strawberry uber syrup and lavender to make my decision and it helped. I ended up getting and iced lavender matcha and didn't regret it at all. It's been hard for me to find good matcha in Portland and they didn't disappoint. The syrup was blended in well. The flavor of the matcha wasn't too grassy, bitter or powdery. I'm sad it's a seasonal drink because I'll Miss it. I also got an almond croissant, which was good but not mind blowing. I think I'll try the banana bread next time. They have a bathroom, 1 booth, bench seating and wall seating. It would be a bit of a challenge to bring a group larger than 3 here as they're small and busy. Maybe if you sat outside.
