So I went here today. Reserved my spot for one. My spot was reserved for 1028am. Pulled in, and was ignored at the check in spot for a bit. Got over that. Got my table and sat. And sat. And sat. Literally my waiter did not come to my table for 10 mins. He finally comes, I know what I want. Lobster and Brie omelette with city grits, coffee and water. He repeats my order. I say yes. Simple. He brings coffee out. No water. Ok. Then I get lobster city grits. Ummm nope. The lady puts it down. Walks away. I look around for my waiter. No where to be found. Turn around keep looking.....keep looking....okay find him looking out the kitchen door and I wave him down. I say not what I ordered. I order the lobster & Brie omelette with city grits. He's like oh I thought you wanted lobster city grits. Umm nope. He brings out the right order about 5 mins later. No jelly for the English muffin and no water. I ate a bit or two but I'm like what has happened with the service here. The checkin desk has employees standing around and drinking their drinks out of their styrofoam cups looking pissed. They make eye contact with me but turn away. I make no fuss and just wait. He comes back and I say can I get a coffee to go, a to go box, to go bowl for my grits and check. I wanted to keep omelet separate from grits. Got box, to go coffee, check but no bag or small bowl. Paid check, tipped him, packed food, which was great, but the customer service from the waiter and checkin staff was awful. When I arrived at the restaurant it was a very cute quaint place. I was seated right away - this was about 7:30 AM. I noticed that there was not a lot of people on patrons. I also noticed that there was a lot of staff. Actually maybe more staff than patrons. After a few minutes my waitress came by and took my drink order. And then she was gone for a while before she brought me my coffee and orange juice. And then she took the food order and was gone for a long time. Everyone seem to be busy doing something other than making sure that the patrons got their food quickly. So when my order came out, I had gotten "Their" sausage, and it was not like any sausage I had ever had before. It was very sweet and not a great tasting sausage. I used to be a regular at their Destin, Florida location and was worried that the food quality would have gone down with franchising. Nope! The food was excellent, fresh and plentiful. We checked in got seated and great customer service started. Our waiter gave great suggestions and we went with the Mardi Gras Omelette and I got the Lobster & City Grits. I would usually give this place 5 stars because my service is good however I was disappointed on the food that was served, my grits were obviously cold and lumpy and they covered it up with the shrimp mixture. I never send food back, so I just chalked this up to a bad experience. I will be back and hope to have a positive experience next time. This food was AMAZZIINGGGGGG couldn't have asked for a better meal. Shrimp and grits and it could make you leave your husband for the chef (or wife) it's that's good. The grits were nice and lose perfect consistency shrimp cooked CORRECTLYY NONE OF THAT RUBBER SHIT HERE. Crab cake was amazing as well the bacon burger came out just right. WELL DONE MEANS WELL DONE. Got here at 9:45 and was told a 30 min wait. No problem I get it. It's a Saturday and it's raining. Table was ready abt 45 min later. Another 20 min before I received my food. I heard another waitress tell another customer because it was her first time she was able to free beignets. That's cool but my waitress didn't mention that even after I told her it's my first time. This is a very small establishment for a place that's always busy. Food was ok. They messed up my daughter's order and it was fixed. My garlic toast tasted as if it had been sitting for awhile. I absolutely loved the food here. My wife and I were always hesitant about eating here because there's always a wait BUT it was very worth it. The servers will recommend food to you when it's your first time and you get a complimentary order of Beignets as an appetizer. Biscuits were lukewarm, my daughters waffle and egg were pretty much cold, and our orders were acceptably warm. We sat in booths that squish you towards the table, and table felt higher then standard... this made for awkward eating. This could be an issue if you are shorter. Worse than mediocre, I tried twice. I'll never go back. Here's what was wrong: 1) My "healthy omlet" was cooked in so much butter and cheese that was plate was dripping over the sides with oil. They clearly forgot about it so they reheated it with butter and more cheese. It was inedible. 2) The granola fruit entree was a HUGE miss. The fruit to granola ration was off... it was like eating a plate of dried granola. 3) the chicken sandwich was so over cooked/fried it was a hockey puck. My son tried, but gave up halfway. 4) The egg sandwich bread was burned to a black crisp so they flipped the burn side so we couldn't see it. Come on, that's a $10 egg sandwich... you can't redo a .15 cent piece of bread??? 5) terrible service. She took our order and never visited again except for the check.... which was $87 for 4 of us to have breakfast. 6) They forgot ambience. Small strip mall place with no noise control or block from the constantly opening door. Packed with tables and people. 7) We are regulars at Eggs Up and Pancake house. We won't stray again. This place won't last with their price point for poorly cooked food, bad service and loud. VERY NOISY. read more
