My friends and I met up at this location yesterday for brunch (with one driving up from Newnan and another coming in from Smyrna. We had a party of seven which included 4 kiddos and got there at 11:30. We called ahead to let them know we were coming in (not quite a reservation) so our wait time ended up being about 15 minutes. Overall, our experience was great. We were busy catching up so I didn't really notice how long our wait for food was (it wasn't fast but I don't think it was super slow although my friend's son ordered a burger that didn't arrive until after everyone started eating). I didn't really pay attention to what my girlfriends ordered but I ordered the banana foster belgian waffle, an order of beignets (to share) and a side of scrambled eggs and bacon (don't judge, I'm pmsing ;) ) The beignets were freakin' delicious! My waffle was also delicious but the eggs and bacon were ok. They're just eggs and bacon, nothing special. I ate too many of the beignets so I didn't finish my waffle but I loved it. I don't remember our server's name but she was awesome. She took care of us like a mama bear and we appreciated her service. I think the prices are pretty decent for what we ordered. Parking shouldn't be a problem. It's in a shopping center so there should be ample parking although depending on how busy the shopping plaza is, you may or may not have to park further away. It's on the other end from Walmart and there's a Party City and World Market there too. If you sign up for their mailing list, you'll get a coupon for a free order of their beignets with a $10 purchase. Do it. And call ahead if you have a large party. read more

The wait was not worth it. We were quoted a 35 minute wait time and it took fifty minutes. We ordered immediately after being seated and our food took another 25 minutes. The coffee is extremely acidic. Our server was very attentive, and it wasn't her fault things took so long but a good server can't make up for a poor meal. I wouldn't suggest this place or come back. The food was dry and bland. I ordered the black bean Benedict and the poached eggs were so overcooked they looked like hard boiled eggs. The manager brought out two more which weren't much better, so I just had the bean burgers. The omelettes were so dry. The potatoes were probably the best thing, just fried potato chunks. I went here in early December for a birthday breakfast. When I arrived around 10am it was pretty slow (weekday, 10am, rainy). There were 3 employees at the front chatting as I walked in, one of which opened the door for me (thanks!). The hostess said "i'm going to seat in your section." I was confused but she wasn't talking to me, she was talking to the waitress who replied " Gee thanks." Ummm ok..... I was seated and apparently the waitress had not quite warmed up yet, and I'm not referring to the fact she still had her sweater on, I'm talking about the less than warm greeting/introduction I received. I ordered coffee and water and let her know I needed a minute. She disappeared without so much as a pleasant "no problem take your time". Before placing my order I asked the waitress for her recommendation between two options I was considering. She said "they're both pretty popular"....literally that was it. Ok.....I'll go with the Crab cake Cavallo no English muffins please. She didn't seem to understand that I did not want the English muffins (this is a Benedict kind of dish). I confirmed I was aware of the structure of the dish and did not want English muffins. My food arrived in a timely manner, she asked if I needed anything else and then she disappeared...for a really long time. Long enough for me to taste my dish which was beautiful but entirely too fishy and not lump crab meat as described on the menu. Now since this was my birthday breakfast I couldn't just let it slide. Also I felt like I needed to let this waitress know it was not up to par for her future recommendations. I was also able to finish my side of potatoes and half of my grits before said waitress returned. I sat there and waited, and waited and waited. Finally she came over to "check on me" but it was one of those 'I'm sure you're fine so I'm not even going to fully stop'. HOWEVER I stopped her and simply said "These are quite fishy and I'd like to order something else." She brought the menu, I ordered the other option I asked her about initially and off she went without as much as an acknowledgement otherwise. I noticed 4 of the 6 other tables she was tending to in my section all received their food before my second attempt came out and they each had looks of abandonment by the waitress. By this time the consumed grits expanded and I was getting full. FINALLY my dish arrived (again nice presentation) and the portion I ate was delish. It even came with a new order of potatoes (because obviously I need more carbs). To summarize, service was SUB PAR, food was AVERAGE but has the potential to be REALLY GOOD, price was as expected ($10-13 seafood entree). I would return but stick with what I know to be good or mishap-proof and perhaps get it to go to avoid the cold shoulder and icy attitude from a stranger on my birthday. read more

We have been going to ABE Cafe for quite a while now at the Buckhead location. We gave this Dunwoody location a try for the first time and it was not too bad. For example, when a customer inquires about ingredients, it's probably best for your wait staff to find out whether the food that's being questioned contains the allergen. I really thought the management had turned this place around based on my last visit, but after taking 30 mins to be seated (we used Nowait), we've now been sitting an hour since putting in our food order. The hostess assisted with taking our drink orders and when we did see the waitress, she was very nice, just way too much on her plate. Looking throughout the restaurant, all of the patrons look lost and some are visibly upset. The waitstaff are unprofessional and joking about it (we're seated on a hightop near the kitchen. Our friends recommended we meet at this cafe on Sunday morning. It was our first visit and they do not take reservations but they do allow you to get in line with the no wait app. We got a table after only a few minute wait so I strongly encourage you to use this app if you visit this location. Crystal was our waitress and she was friendly and cheerful and helped us navigate the menu. Even though the restaurant was packed our food arrived very promptly. I got the Belgian waffle with strawberries and powdered sugar on top, a cheese omelette and two slices of bacon. (I'll start my diet tomorrow!!!) Everyone was happy with our food & service. Wish I had read more of the reviews before dining here...service was very slow around 11am on a Thursday. I ordered the Black Bean Benedict and when the food finally arrived, about 20 min later, the poached eggs were completely runny. I had to send them back, which took another 10 min. The 2nd try was much better - I like the idea of the Black Bean Benedict but, as a vegetarian with a very refined palate for black bean burgers, the patty left something to be desired. My waitress was very accommodating and apologetic (I know it's not her fault the eggs were undercooked) but, overall, the experience just didn't seem worth my time or money. read more

First let me say I'm not a review writer, I rarely write reviews unless it's a super poor experience or an exceptional experience, this was an exceptional experience. I arrived around 7:15 am and they were already busy, I was seated and warmly greeted by my server Roy right away. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon instead of Canadian Bacon, and coffee. The coffee came quickly and was very good, then my food arrived within 8 minutes after ordering and it was hot and delicious. Not only was this an overall great experience, but Roy was attentive and surprised me with hot beignets. I'm not sure about some of the other reviews but my meal was full of flavor. While I agree that the pop of colors from ingredients like green onions and red peppers against bright ceramic serving vessels yields a picture-perfect photo opp, this restaurant chain offers very little else, falling short in terms of both taste and cost. The mediocre, poorly executed meals don't justify the bill, and that's why Another Broken Egg simply is not worth a visit. The restaurants are out to get your money, charging too much for small meal portions and adding extra charges for customization and substitution of food. Bryant and I visited the Dunwoody location on a Thursday for late lunch, grabbing a table by the window. Among the different patrons, of the few that were in the uncrowded restaurant, were couples and small families. Our waitress was rather uncommunicative from the start. While she took our drink order and followed through on it, she didn't verbally interact with us much for the duration of our meal, or even give us a smile. After an ordinary wait time of ~10 minutes, my Crabcakes Cavallo ($14) and Bryant's Stan's Mardi Gras ($12) arrived. My crab cakes didn't have that nice bite that fresh crab often has. I even found a piece of shell in the cakes, just one example of our poorly executed meal. The cakes tasted unpleasantly fishy, as if they had been tinned. My poached eggs, on the other hand, were perfectly runny and pleasantly mixed in with the "Andouille-infused Hollandaise", and the whole dish was topped with diced red peppers and green onions. Bryant's Mardi Gras-inspired omelette contained crawfish, shrimp and Andouille sausage, and was topped with green onions, diced tomato and a tomato-based "Hollandaise". While I'm not very fond of omelettes, Bryant's was well-made: fluffy and flavorful. Both of our dishes came with a split English muffin and "country potatoes," which tasted fine with ketchup and salt, but were nothing spectacular. Our food came in a bright ceramic baking dish with a handle. I had a qualm with our "Hollandaise" sauces, however. They're traditionally known to be opaque and light yellow, from the mixture of egg yolk and butter. The sauces that Bryant and I got were translucent and foamy. I'm all for innovation in the kitchen, but these sauces were mis-characterized. A customer that orders a dish with Hollandaise expects and should receive an actual, traditional Hollandaise sauce, unless warned otherwise. Our restaurant's version had too much butter, which was evident in every mouthful. You're gonna pay at least $2 for sides like grits, black beans and sliced tomatoes, but no less than $3.50 for more substantial sides like ham, bacon and sausage. Their alcoholic drinks start at $6 for a simple screw driver (vodka and OJ) and only get pricier from there. Bryant and I didn't order any fancy drinks, apps or desserts and we paid $17 each... Last summer I had brunch with my sister and our cousin at the Buckhead location, where we ate in the backroom after a 15-minute wait on a weekend afternoon. My expectations for the meal were set very high after witnessing the full restaurant and busy atmosphere. But I sipped on watery coffee and timidly ate my Cinnamon Roll French Toast (3 pieces for $10), which was drowned in a sickly sweet Bananas Foster sauce, and topped with strawberries and blueberries, whipped cream, and a cream cheese icing. I also ordered grits with cheese ($2.59), which was literally just that. Grits and cheese. Maybe I had it coming, but the grits were also unseasoned, gummy and lukewarm. After 5 minutes, they condensed into a solidified mass. I also paid an extra 70 cents for a scant sprinkle of cheese on top of the grits, and I'm still hurting over the whole ordeal. My sister's Veggie Delight Omelette ($10.29) was also above average, though I couldn't detect the goat cheese among the tomato, spinach and mushrooms. read more

Some of the most unique and most delicious French toast I have ever had, And I have to mention... I don't even like French toast, so this was a plus. On the other hand the server we maybe saw one time. After my friends being without a coffee refill for over 10 min. I came here for the first time and I'm really glad I did. I was seated immediately and the interior was great and comfy with the stylish yet warm environment. The menu was clear and easy to read, and the server was quick to order. I ordered the jumbo cinnamon roll for an app, and I devoured in within minutes it was fluffy and warm, with the oozy sour cream icing melting on top. I would definately recommend it. I also ordered a pancake (huge) and the bacon. The bacon looked a little expensive for around 3 bucks for 3 pieces, but the bacon was crispy and thick, and not greasy or oily and had a nice smokey taste to it. The pancake was really good too, but I was still stuffed from the cinnamon roll so I couldn't eat it all. I could tell all the ingredients were fresh and the chefs knew what they were doing. The food didn't take too long to come out, but tasted good and looked presentable enough to know that the food was made to order and not just heated up. This is our favorite chain for my husband and I to go to. I am 5 weeks pregnant so I am a little sick today when we came and didn't dress up like usual and we truly feel due to that we got completely ignored. We currently have 5 empty drink glasses at our table and haven't been checked on once yet everyone around us has been several times. Came to this location on a Sunday for brunch. My group was expecting a wait, but the hostess told us it would only be 20-30 minutes. We waited 40 minutes before checking on our table. The hostess then told us it would be another 20 minutes. Once we were seated, the waitress took our order and then took another 10 minutes to bring us our coffee and waters. She came back and forth 4 times before finally giving us our drinks, but forgetting the cream. We also had no silverware. The food was fine, but one girl in our party didn't get her grits until she was done with her main dish. I will definitely be checking out the Buckhead location if I ever decide to give this restaurant another chance. read more

Trying out a new breakfast place. A mixed bag. The bakery products were very good - cinammon roll was light and fluffy and the bread with the shrimp and grits was simple but tasty. One entree we had was shrimp and grits - surprisingly authentic - real gravy. The other entree was a Blackstone Benedict dish - eggs were done correctly, however, Hollandaise was definitely not house made and from a cheap mix. In addition, the potatoes were not seasoned to any level. Don't plan to return. Egg Harbor Cafe is a better choice overall. read more

Came here based of a recommendation of a friend. I am really more of a brunch person who does not eat eggs. Which is pretty much the whole menu. So that pretty much always narrows down my selection and I am use to it. I live hash browns or breakfast potatoes. Those make me a happy girl. Came here with our extended family on the weekend and was told that there was going to be a 30 min wait period. We decided to walk down to the pet store and wait but after 5 mins after we were called in. yay! We got the beignets, banana foster waffles, Granola, fruit and quinoa and chez b's. Food presentation is beautiful and the waitstaff is very attentive and friendly. My greedy husband got the waffle and couldnt finish it because it turned out too sweet for him so he had the side dishes of eggs and fried potatoes. My chez b was awesome and so filling and good. Sadly, the quinoa dish was too much grown up for her and she just ate our potatoes. But it was beautifully made, I am planning to order it next time. The Beignet is out of this world good. I have had beignets on 3 occasions. First was in a festival and it was horrid, second in Savannah which was pretty good but these? Oh boy Also,I love the fact that they have many gluten free options and that there were really accommodating for my niece who has a few allergies. Def will be returning soon! read more
