My girlfriend and I came here Sunday morning early before any crowd and sat immediately. Our waitress was the biggest issue. Cold and almost rude to start. Tossed straws on the table while looking away to talk to us. Felt like we were interrupting her day at 9am. Most of the food came out okay, eggs were extremely overcooked. The waitress never came back to ask about the food or if we needed anything , no refills of coffee or water. Then walks past multiple times without engaging or looking at us, proceeds to eat and have a conversation at their station right next to our table. I practically had to yell to get our check. Since the handful of times I have been here resulted in slow service with mediocre food, I haven't been back often. However, my friend and I decided to meet here for brunch one Sunday. The wait was crazy. But thanks to the Yelp app, I added myself to the waiting list and we ended up spending some money at DSW a few shops over. I also ordered the crab cake Benedict (my usual) with potatoes and we split the beignets. Everything was tasty and all was right with the world. I can't believe it's taken me so long to grab breakfast here. There is ample parking in the lot and the location is super easy to find. I had the salted caramel spiked iced coffee, the blueberry lemon mimosa, and the shrimp and grits. Everything was fantastic. Our server, Kimberly, was incredible! YELP has a waitlist (which is so convenient) which makes waiting less stressful . ABEG has Louisiana inspired food so you'll find a lot of seafood breakfast/brunch options on their menu. (1) While we were eating our food, two of the waitresses walked over and stood their with the bathroom door open with their apron on. There was a stench of bleach that was so overpowering that I had to move to another room in the restaurant. It was not as bad but I believe the staff added too much bleach to the solution that they were using to clean tables. The food was just okay. Grits were actually the best thing I had. My team has been coming here every week for few years and I don't think we have had a bad meal here. The shrimp or lobster grits is very good and keep an eye out for the carrot cake pancakes when it shows up on the menu, make sure you order these. In addition to a great breakfast selection the service provided by Kim is excellent on the bar side, she remembers all our usuals and will have our drinks ready by the time we sit down. I had to take away a star because some corporate genius thought it was ok to take away the TVs from the bar, take out the high tops and remove the Sun shades. Bring back the shades or tint the windows and bring back the tv for the bar area.
