Just went to our favorite breakfast place. Had the worst food with moldy English muffin. I explained to the waiter that seeing mold on the English muffin while eating a seafood omelette just turned my stomach. Asked to speak to management NO would come out to talk to us. Will not be going back back. Metro Dinner at least takes care of their customers. read more

Finally made it out to Broken Egg Cafe for the first time for an early bite. Upon entering I immediately got a warm feel. Love the ambiance & decor here. Kinda reminds me of Panera Bread but more of a southern home touch and without the noise and crowd.,,, at least that's what I experienced between 8:30-10a. As for the service - they were accommodating and allowed me to choose my seating for 1 this morning with a window view. I never had to ask to have my coffee refilled. They checked w me periodically but not too much to disturb me while I squeezed in some quiet time reading. Staff is friendly and accommodating. As for the food - I ordered their Biscuit Beignets. Although these babies are listed under appetizers, the order was more than enough for one. They are somewhat different from the original Beignets known to have more of a donut texture that melts in your mouth. The Beignets served here is a combination of a biscuit and donut, but more biscuit as advertised. The dish contained 15 pieces lightly dusted with powdered sugar on top and came with a side of honey/orange marmalade for dipping. The marmalade wasn't necessary for me, but helped w the presentation. Overall, the Beignets were very tasy that I downed about half the plate between sipping hot coffee. 8P Although these differ from the real Beignets served at Cafe Du Monde in Louisiana and Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in SoCal, these babies quenched my craving. I always request a visit here whenever I'm in town. The omelettes are creative and flavorful, the biscuits and gravy are amazingly delicious, and the service has always been impeccable. The plates are hearty and filling - a good deal for a great brunch. As long as this place is here and my friend I visit is still in Huntsville, I'll be asking for repeat visits to this spot! I was very impressed by a recent visit where the server was more than happy to deliver a pack of chocolate mix with my coffee so that I could make a mocha at no extra charge. Big plus! read more

So we're sitting here for a bit of time waiting for our food, about 30 mins after taking our order. The place is packed as it's very popular AND it's Fathers Day; must all play a part of their slow service today. This place has good food and a nice selection. Prices are moderately high as me and Michele are a $30 couple when it comes to eating out at places. Bill came to $25 and I was pleasantly surprised. Due to the log wait they gave us a large cinnamon roll ala Cinnabon AND gave a card for a free meal on our next visit. I guess they know good customer service which only helped with today's wait. For example,I ordered my breakfast with stewed fresh whole blackberries. My companion's waffle was good, but not quite as crisp exterior as desired. All other food was VERY nicely done, and service was impeccable. Food is served in high quality saucers, plates etc., indicative of the seriousness of their approach. One time, they also sat a party of about 15 at a table next to us when we were close to leaving (not sure why they couldn't wait). The table wasn't just next to us, it was CONNECTED to our table. The food is awesome, had the beignets which rocked and the pound cake French toast. No complaints, happy intestinal tract. For the negative. What the devil happened to the fried green tomatoes? We love this place!! My grandmother and I found this place yearrrs ago. Went once but never had the chance to go back. Now years later we have started coming almost every weekend with my children. The staff is great we have actually had the same waitress each time which is honestly great to us because she remember us right off the bat!! We had a group brunch here on a Monday afternoon, the wait wasn't too bad considering. Service here is decent, I did find that it does take a while from the time of order to the time that the food actually arrives. Our server however was very on top of things and topped off our coffee and brought us creamer consistently. Service overall here is very friendly. Oh my gosh! How horrible was that? Seated at 12:08. At 12:40, I told my wife, I think they lost our order. Shortly thereafter, our waiter came over and said their system in the kitchen failed and all the orders had to be redone. Well, that didn't seem to jive with the people that came into the restaurant before us already leaving- and if the orders were lost, what was the kitchen doing with no orders? Also, why didn't our waiter check on our order some time during the almost 40 minute wait? I told my wife that we should leave but she figured we had waited that long. Well, another 30 minutes go by and we get food delivered. My wife ordered pancakes. She got one on a plate and it was cold. I got an omelette that did not have the ingredients the menu stated along with cold potatoes and a cold English muffin. Also, no silverware. Had to wait on that after the food had been delivered. To add to the experience no one was bussing the tables. The bus boy was constantly talking to the girl at the front counter, so we were sitting among tables with dirty dishes for an hour. Great. No visit from the manager. No apologies. The waiter acted like we were the problem. All in all, it would be difficult for that visit to be worse. read more

We initially tried to call the Pelham Ave. location to place our to-go order and after calling twice with no answer (even though both google and yelp and their website say they're open today for pick up and delivery), decided to give the Carl T. Jones location a try. They answered the phone quickly and the man taking our order was nice ! My bf ordered the biscuits and GRAVY. Upon arriving back at home, we opened up his box to find his toast was burnt and there was NO GRAVY. What is the point in having biscuits and gravy with NO GRAVY ?! We already drove farther and waited longer than initially planned going to the Jones Valley location instead of downtown, so we can't just go back for some gravy. I'm incredibly disappointed. We called ahead and set an 11am reservation. We arrived and checked in at 10:50 and were told there would be a 10-15 minute wait and we would receive a text when our table was ready. After and entire hour of waiting (checking with the hostess after 30 minutes and 50 minutes) we finally had to find somewhere else to eat. In the hour we were standing and waiting for a table, larger groups of people arrived and we still seated before us. The reservations are useless and the time estimates are arbitrarily given with no basis in reality. read more

If you want good service, I wouldn't suggest this location. My husband and I wanted to go somewhere nice for Valentine's Day and we have always enjoyed dining here. This time, no service from drink refills on 'unlimited coffee' to disappearing and never asking if we needed anything else after our food was dropped off cold. We are extremely disappointed. Discovering this place was on of the best things in Huntsville. The only reason I have it a four was the wait and the temperature of the food could've been hotter. The first day there was for two and we had the lobster omelette and the shrimp and grits. They were the most on point dishes with flavor and just umami! The biscuits were feather light and delicious. Though they do not take reservations, they made note of the request and asked me to remind them on "the day." I called an hour before the group was to arrive and was told everything would be set -- and it was. Our server (and I'm sorry I didn't remember her name) deftly managed 10 orders, separate checks, and kept drinks refilled without being asked. I love the food at this location, and the servers are always on point and pleasant as well! My ONLY complaint is the hostesses are always the rudest people, rude enough that by the time I'm finally seated I'm pissed off. Every time we walk in the hostesses don't even glance up, they ask how many, and then they snap an exaggerated wait time at you. The wait is never as long as the estimated time, which is great, but the entire customer service both of the hostesses deliver is almost abrasive enough that I don't want to continue coming. It makes me feel bad though because the servers are so sweet and the food is so nice, but the damn greeters are fucking rude. This morning my parents went to Another Broken Egg Cafe for breakfast. Then they came over and woke me up to give me a takeout order of their Blackberry Grits. Blackberry Grits? Yup, Blackberry Grits and they were definitely worth waking up for. So, I got myself up and moving and headed out to Another Broken Egg to see what else they had to round out the meal. The menu is fairly extensive with all kinds of standard and exotic breakfast fare. Not in the mood for breakfast? No problem. They've got salads, sandwiches, and burgers as well. Need a breakfast beer, fuzzy navel or a bloody mary? They've got those too. It was a tough decision, but I finally settled on Popeye's Favorite Scramble. It's a heavenly combination of eggs & bacon stirred up with spinachey cheesy goodness (and a little bit of onion). The country potatoes served with the meal were crispy and not the least bit greasy. I'm going to have to head back in the near future to try the things I didn't get to pick. The hubs and I were so excited to find out there was another broken egg cafe in Huntsville since we visit there more often than Destin. However, the excitement died quickly once the food came out, which by the way, took a long time! The bananas foster waffle only had a few measly pieces of banana and poor little hills of whipped cream. Whereas the bananas foster waffle in Destin had good chunks of fresh banana with mountains of whipped cream. Also, the waffle didn't look or taste very fresh, and they totally skimped on the bananas foster sauce. Complete disappointment from our first experience in Destin. My huevos rancheros and my mom's omelet tasted like it had been sitting out in the warmer for a while. My eggs were supposed to be over medium, however, my eggs were pretty much well done. Both my eggs and my mom's omelet looked like you could pick them up like a soft nerf frisbee. In addition to overdone eggs, my corn tortilla was stale. Stale tortilla?! What the?! They took away the texture to the dish! It looked the same as the one in Destin, and it had the same menu; however, the food just wasn't the same.
