Parking: not ideal, they have like 3 spots in front on 46th and maybe 10 spots in the parking lot out back. Don't even try. Street parking not fun, but doable. Atmosphere/ambiance: ideal. Super cute/chic/casual all in one. Perfect for happy hour, bringing friends, a date, family or just a nice dinner out. Great vibe and decor. Food: we ordered the panzanella and tomato plates to share. Both stellar but holy s*it that panzanella is good! I will be trying to recreate it at home very soon. It had textures, flavor, freshness and creativity. Kudos to whoever created that dish! The dried blueberries and balsamic set it apart from any other panzanella I've tried. Tomato was also great. I love a fried green tomato so you didn't have to woo me there, but I'm not a huge seafood fan. The lobster on it was perfect-o. I've been going to this gem of a restaurant in Sylvan Park since it opened and went back recently to see if it was still as good as it used to be. Thankfully the only thing that has changed about Answer is that it is now constantly packed with people. The food is still just as good as the day it opened and the menu is only more innovative as time progresses. I highly recommend this spot if you are looking for quality food at a great price. We visited Answer on 7/15/24 to enjoy a special occasion meal. This was our second visit so we were not unaware of their ambiance, menu style, and price points. Our server, Danielle, was gracious, attentive and efficient. Our food arrived in a timely manner given the amount of patrons and was both tasty and well presented. My concern is with the severity of cross contamination and lack of hand washing/ sanitization which I witnessed from the kitchen staff. Answer has an open production line so the actions/activities of the staff are easily visible. Hands down the BEST happy hour in Nashville PERIODT! After reading my fellow Yelp elite's review, I have decided to give this place a try. The happy hour is supposed to start from 4:30pm Monday to Saturday and We came on a Friday afternoon at 4:32pm, and this place was already PACKED! We had to wait for 40 minutes to get a seat! What impressed me was that the manager came and was apologetic and she asked us if we'd like to order a drink so we did! It was such a nice touch that really showed that they care about their customers. The lime cocktail was to die for and their bread dip with tomato sauce was so Devine I'm still thinking about it. Was visiting Nashville with my boyfriend, so we got dinner with some friends while in town. We decided on Answer and we were happy with our decision. Both the food and the service were good. You probably should make a reservation but we accidentally made ours for the wrong day, but they luckily had a high top for four available. The inside is cute and modern, with lots of table and bar seating. Would be a good option for a date. We ordered the squash, albóndigas, and arincini to share. I enjoyed mostly everything, but I probably wouldn't order the squash again. Bit of a different taste than my liking. For mains, I ordered the bucatini and mezcal cocktail. Both were fantastic. I would 100% get them again. My group also seemed to like what they got. We finished things off with the blondie cookie and s'more dessert. Wowza. Our server was friendly, polite, and checked on us regularly even when the restaurant was buzzing. The rest of the staff we interacted with was equally as nice. My go-to spot for celebrations or a must whenever family comes to town. The food is phenomenal here & always hits a 10 on the flavor scale. The service is top tier and the waiters are extremely helpful with suggestions. My favorite thing is the fresh fish with gnocchi. Everything is made in house which you can totally tell given how fresh and flavorful everything is. We tried the ceviche and it was very good. They give you a full avocado topped with ceviche. The portions are generous. The burger always hits the spot! They change the menu in-between seasons so that the menu stays relevant. Their cocktails are also great! My favorite is the gin lavender drink. Street parking in the surrounding neighborhoods is plentiful so no need to stress. Make a reservation on weekends as it does get busy! The wontons added a nice crunch however we're a little oily I actually preferred it without the wontons. The crab dish: least favorite honestly I had high hopes but it just tasted bland to me. I wish the bread was toasted more and I wish it had some aoili or something to enhance the crab taste just elevate it a little more. Arancini: I loved it though I wish they added seaweed to give it more depth of flavor. It's a very heavy dish but I really enjoyed it! The pork cheeks: 10/10 probably my favorite dish there was nothing I would change. The pork was cooked perfectly had a crunch and then was nice and juicy the coleslaw added the perfect amount of sourness and freshness to compliment the savory umami taste of the pork. The tomato: the fried tomato was good and filing. It's a little hard to cut to share but overall I enjoyed it. I wish it had more sour notes and my friend wished it was just pimento cheese instead of goat cheese. Wasn't my favorite but wasn't bad either. The mussels: Loved ending on this dish! It was light and homey. My boyfriend has had more mussels then I have and he liked them but didn't love them. He wished it had a stronger flavor but I disagree. NOT MY CUP OF TEA Say you're not from Nashville or the South without saying it. It was apparent during our visit that the proprietors of this eatery are not from around these parts and thought they could pull one over on this Nashville native. Well, I've walked out of restaurants over cleaniliness and service before, but this time might win the prize as it was all over a glass of tea. There are few sacred culinary items you just don't mess with here in the South and iced tea is one of them. I can sniff out past-its-prime or commissary Vitality Tea a mile away. So imagine my horror when hubby and I went to answer for date night, ordered tea while perusing the menu, and they brought out a glass of ice and a bottle of Pure freaking Leaf tea! We were appalled. "The kitchen is very small, so we don't have room for one of those big coffee/tea makers back there. But this is very good..." the waitress offered. We responded with, "no. thank you" and then "we're going to need a minute." During that minute, we discussed not whether to get up and leave but, rather, exactly how much to offer as to why. We simply told our server on the way out, "hey, we're taking off." She ran to the hostess stand to report that someone actually had the chutzpah to call them on this beverage travesty, I'm guessing, as they were all huddled together up there as we exited. So, the real question is: if they're cutting corners on something as low key as freshly-brewed iced tea, what else are they compromising on back there? And, are you charging $3 or $3.50 for a $1.79 bottle of gas station tea and then how do refills work? Y'all, I don't care if you have to get a Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker, you can find 6" of spare space back in that kitchen of yours to make proper tea. I loved this place and can't wait to go back the next time I'm in Nashville. The food was amazing and the cocktails were so good. We only ordered tapas and it was all so, so good. My kid loved the mussels and the crab (which was pretty astounding because they're only so so on crab in general). The fried quail was...chef's kiss... We sat in the heated patio to get away from the noise inside the restaurant. It was cool but not cold and worked just fine for us. My second visit to Answer did not disappoint. The prior visit was just for happy hour which is a great option as well. Went for a double date. Ambiance was great. Restaurant is lively with a large bar in the center but not too loud to where you can't hold conversation. We started with the muscles, tartare, fried green tomato, and Arancini. Arancini was my favorite- Asian style. Tartare was great but wish it would have been served with bread or crackers For mains 2 of us got the bucatini and the other two got steak. Both phenomenal dishes. Bucatini was a large portion and very generous portion of meat. The steak was perfectly cooked with almost a truffle flavor. Both great options and would order again! For drinks- the Gin was light and refreshing while the tequila had a nice kick to it. You will need reservations in advance. Parking is probably the biggest downside here. Made reservations for a weekend dinner. Our server was lovey and patient and explained things well. We got 3 apps - tofu, califlower and Burrata- which were all decent. The cheese was little Hard to spread on the crostini was flavorful. The tofu was a little bland. The cauliflower was seasoned well and my favorite of the 3. I got one of the pasta dishes that typically come with scallops however I am not a fan of scallops so they subbed it bacon for me. I really liked the dish it was cheesy and flavorful although it was not very hot. We ended with the chocolate brownie with white chocolate ice cream. This was our first time coming to Answer during their happy hour, and we were pleased to say the least! Their bar-top happy hour menu serves appetizers and drinks, all for 6 dollars each. Needless to say, we tried just about everything- including the flatbread, hummus plate, goat cheese dip, pretzels and mustard, potatoes, shishito peppers, cab sauv and grapefruit cocktail. All for a great price! Service is timely, waiters give great suggestions and are very friendly. Perfect location for a date, celebration/anniversary, or get together with friends. Both indoor and outdoor seating available. I recommend coming here for bar top happy hour- Monday through Saturday, 4:30-6:00 PM! Popped in around 6pm...told 15min wait...skipped that and sat at the bar. Exceptionally attentive bartender turned out the house gin drink (delightful) and my personal favorite, an Aviation. She nailed the Aviation. Our order quickly arrived and all offerings were wonderful. Tapas meals can sometimes be less than satiating due to small servings. But tapas promotes variety. In this case, our 3 choices were more than filling for the two of us. Bartender was top notch. I think this place sets rewarding conditions for close quarter engagement. Plenty of activity happening around us but with a lower noise level then we'd expected. Intimate atmospherics, great drinks, every plate stood on it's own in the taste department. I've been to Answer three times now and have loved it each time. Someone once told me that all the meals here have too many crazy ingredients and I would say yes, but my tone/inflection would be one of delight and amazement! I love eating their food because it's new flavor profiles for me and something I could never whip up in my own kitchen. The food is delicious and I've never had anything bad. The ambiance is nice, the lighting is great, the tables are small but it works and is no big deal. The wine selection is lacking, in my opinion, but there are still some options. Perfect date night experience -- amazing service, drinks, vibe, and food. They didn't have any reservations available on a Saturday night, but we were able to grab the last two seats at the bar as soon as we walked in. Kayla was fantastic and took amazing care of us all night. She had great timing, being attentive without overbearing; giving us time to enjoy without neglecting. She also gave great recommendations on both food and drink and overall just helped us have a great night. We took our time and enjoyed one plate at a time, sharing and savoring with drinks. We had the tomato (fried green tomato, lobster, pimento goat cheese, and aioli), with nice big claw chunks of lobster... yummo. The scallops (artichoke risotto, a pea & mint purée, fried fennel, pecorino) were also super tasty. Nicely cooked and all the textures came together nicely. The panzanella surprised me. The blueberries gave it a punch of sweetness, the squash and kale were nicely seasoned, the sweet peppers were fully of roasty goodness, and there was something creamy on the plate that just pulled it all together. We finished with the garganelli that had great balance and the roasted grapes were unique and tasty. We had such a nice time and always love a place where we can taste a bunch of small plates, share, and take our time and enjoy the food, drinks, and company. One of my favorite places in Sylvan Park. I have been going for years and have tried nearly everything on the menu. They have one of the best happy hours in town. Even through the pandemic, they have been killing it on cocktail options and light bites. I have felt safe every time I have gone. They make sure everyone is spaced out and cleaning in between guests. I've been so fortunate to take friends and family here and see them enjoy their first experience. It's my greatest joy to introduce a wonderful place to those you care about. On the HH menu, I love the avocado hummus and goat cheese in tomato sauce. The secret is the honey in the tomato sauce. OMG- it was delicious. I wish I was eating some right now. For dinner, my top picks are 1. Bucatini- Lamb & pork ragu, pine nut, bread crumbs, pecorino, herbs 2. Halibut- White beans, pancetta, kalamata, black garlic, heirloom tomato 3. Panzanella. butternut, kale, apple, crouton, pecans, maple dijon, ricotta I recommend sharing a few dishes at the top of the menu. Then order a main from the second section. Drinks are delicious. I've had several cocktails here and they were all lovely. Parking is limited here so I suggest Uber/Lyft. What I love about Answer is that you can go on a business dinner, date, catch up with your friends, or do a family meal here. They are classy without being pretentious. I like Sylvan Park. Had I known about it during my first stint in Nashville, I would have liked it even more. It's one of those established neighborhoods that sneaks up on you, what with their fun businesses, interesting houses and charming green spaces. What's all this have to do with answer? Everything. The idea of a 'neighborhood restaurant' gets tossed out a lot. answer actually is the perfect restaurant for Sylvan Park. It's not just my opinion. Try getting a table on a weekend night without a reservation. You can't. Unlike the usual 'small plate' restaurants, you can get full at answer. Even better, you can get full on tastes that one doesn't find on every menu in the city. As a 'small plates' place, sharing's encouraged. I get that. I came here (most recently) with 4 guys. Sharing was hard to come by. Between dietary restrictions and general greed, none of us wanted to share our plates. Of the four small plates we tried, the hands down winner was the mushrooms. Cheese, leeks, garlic, and lemon combined to make an addictive plate any one of us would have eaten for a main course. Since I was noshing on cheese, scallops and the like, I thought it made sense to take part of the cocktail menu. My tastes run 'island' so the rum drink's chai honey and spiced pear really hit the spot. We split up for our main courses so I pivoted to wine (white/pinot grigio) and chicken. Before you roll your eyes at the chicken selection, might I add that it was gluten-free yet breaded! Points for that alone. Secondly, the preparation of sambal (hot sauce!!), sesame, ginger, peanut slaw, sweet potato, and togarashi put a decidedly Asian spin on what could have been a boring standard. As it was, it was one of my favorite chicken dishes this year. If you like the bird, get this -- and laugh at your jealous friends. Topping off the wonderful food and drink was top-notch service. From the hostess to our waiter (Zach!) to having Victoria (the owner) stop by and chat, we felt well taken care of and very appreciated. answer may not have the zip code of some of the more popular eateries in town but pound for pound, you'll be hard pressed to find a better, more consistent restaurant that will wow your guests and please your tummy. answer is the answer. read more

I adore Answer. I've gone here periodically to celebrate friends or family for annual events, and this location has never disappointed. The contemporary, chic ambiance coupled by impeccable service and delectable small plates is a stellar, winning combination. Their menu is typically seasonal, but I've always enjoyed everything on the menu. My tip is to look around as you order your cocktails (a must here), and check our who's plates look the best. Then, either try to match it to the menu item or attempt to describe it to your server. Keep in mind that portions will not be giant, Southern style sizes. You'll have decent portions that value flavor over quantity. I think for that reason, you will feel way more satisfied at the end of the night. Happy eating! read more

My wife and I came here for a date night after some friends had recommended it. First impressions walking in were cozy, upscale, social establishment that was meant to provide nice dining with a social cocktail experience. Def a faster vibe and a tad loud for its dynamic but I can see it being a great first stop of the night. We arrived a bit early thinking we could grab a bar seat for a cocktail while we waited. We apparently had just passed happy hour as the location was packed and so we had to wait for a spot to open up. Unfortunately since the establishment is small there was not really any waiting area so this is where things started to feel a little less desirable. Our host did her best to accommodate us at a corner spot of the bar, but it was clear some older regulars were not particularly interested in us being offered a solo seat for my wife while I stood (they pulled the additional bar seat away maybe because it made this lady uncomfortably packed). My wife and I heard an exchange between the lady and manager which was unpleasantly towards us but since my beautiful wife is use to handling uneasy situations well she de-escalated but not without uneasiness that really could have been avoided. The service at the table was very good. The appetizer we ordered was enjoyable, we both ordered the steaks which were above average but had a liquid smoke taste that could have been wood seasonings. I agree with other reviews that some of the drinks were a little too sweet for my taste but all in all they were better than average (our favorite bars include The Fox and Old Glory) I would have given it 4 stars if not for the unwelcome feelings not quickly mitigated by management. ----- Update - The GM reached out to my wife who had made the reservation and I've updated to 4 stars. What a fabulous little spot. My friend chose thos establishment for her birthday celebration. They have so many fantastic food options, and the servers are very knowledgeable. The vibes are great as well, kinda moody, and the place was packed on a Thursday night! I will be back. It's a hidden gem for sure. Also, the sea scallops and risotto were brilliant. Food was fantastic but it only took one to ruin our dinner. We went on 9-8-23 and the blonde bartender with her hair up was extremely rude. Example- I asked for hot sauce and she told me they didn't have any as I stared at multiple huge bottles in the kitchen hallway. Asked for another glass of wine and didn't know name, her reaction was how am I supposed to know since it was the other bartender that poured it. I replied can you ask her or look on my tab. Our food came and the adorable girl that brought our food was nice enough to bring me hot sauce.
