This place is the real deal - professional and transparent. I wanted a specific pair of designer glasses and have crappy optical insurance. I spent quite a bit of time calling different stores and not one would give me the full discount with my insurance like they are supposed to when they claim to take it. I was honestly surprised when Anthony Aiden offered to honor my UFT insurance and gave me the full discount. I am not usually a fan of going to the eyeglasses/eye doctor. The procedure of having your eyes looked at is always daunting, with all the "1 or 2?" "better or worse?" etc., etc. If you feel this way you should probably go to Anthony Aiden. The optometrist is a pro. She gets the job done quickly and effortlessly. Just how I like my eye exam. On top of that, she is completely open to you asking questions. Best. As for getting your kicka** pair of eyeglasses, its a whole other animal. Meet Richie. Energetic and full of opinions. Good ones. He will be completely honest about every pair you try on. As I did, just tell him what you are generally looking for and let him have at it. You won't be disappointed. The guy knows his sh*t. He is a stylist. So trust the guy. He has enough personality for three people, so shoot the sh*t with him and he will treat you like a friend. As a result, I got a call back in less than 24 hours with my specs all finished. Over all, this place is mint. Do yourself a favor and go. I recently went into Anthony Aiden Opticians for an eye exam. Although many of the employees are nice and they have trendy eyewear, the doctor was incredibly unprofessional. As soon as I walked in for my appointment, she rudely asked "Can I help you??" while texting on her phone. Although I understand it may be a relaxed work environment, I'd prefer my doctor to act with a more professional and courteous attitude. When I need new glasses, I walk into this store, tell the staff what I'm looking for, and they hand me a pair that match my ideas and are perfect for my face. I then try on half the store with their good-natured help, then walk out with that first pair, which define my face for the next two years. Sounds like a silly anecdote, but Eric at Anthony Aiden has done this four times in a row now. I always look and feel my best. I've been shopping here since the 1990s. I no longer live nearby, so I tried some of the shops near me, and none have the selection, service or keen eye as here. They adjust my glasses ad infinitum; they give me cool cases and retint faded sunglasses, gratis; they even offered to eat the cost of repairs on one occasion. And not only do I feel accommodated, I look great, in styles I can't always find elsewhere. (My local UWS optician that carries my current brand still doesn't have my frames, four months after I got them here.) Anthony Aiden is so good to me that I don't care that I have to shlep to the East Village for a simple adjustment. There's no better place in this city to get glasses. read more

A bit pricey- but unlike Cohen's or Lenscrafters, they are very transparent on pricing. They don't stock designer brands (like Burberry or Prada), but have a great selection of quality frames. The doctor performing the eye exam is very professional and thorough, unlike the one I saw at Cohen's who basically asked me to guess my own prescription. And for lens which are the most important part of a pair of glasses, there is only a sheet of paper with prices and random numbers. You don't know how much thinner the 170AR is compared to 160, whatever that means, which seems not very professional. This place is so great. I am incredibly picky about my glasses frames. I mean, they go on your face. I had been looking around for a few months, found some good ones but none that I was 100% sure about. I went in saturday, and the 4th pair I tried on were THE ones. I went in Sunday to purchase them. I first went to Anthony Aiden (AAO) more than 15 years ago. I had a TV appearance and needed to look "smart" and the turn around that I needed was tight. AAO took care of me and it was a great experience. I went back November 2016 after going to other opticians in that time between; I will not go to another optician. On every level of professionalism that is important to me, AAO meets my expectation: promptness of the product, customer service, adaptability to special circumstances, location, quality of staff and more. Wow! Just walked in because I had fallen asleep on my glasses and the hinge warped, I was hoping for a simple repair to straighten it. A very welcoming place. The kind person was concerned because they didn't carry parts for my frame, but looked at it anyway and found a way to tighten the kinked-up screw for me, making it secure for the rest of my trip. I am in love with this place and every single person that works there. The best part is these guys are absolutely honest about what looks good on your face or not and they let you know. Incredible, attentive, and super friendly customer service! I brought my sunglasses in for repair and was immediately greeted as I walked in the door despite the fact both people working were busy with other customers. As soon as one could politely break from a customer, he quickly took care of me, giving me an estimate as to when it would be ready, taking my info, then getting back to the other customer while making it seem like both of us were extremely important. As soon as I walked in the door two days later, I was immediately recognized, had my repaired glasses, and was out the door within minutes - again despite the fact there were about 6 customers in their teeny shop and no one was neglected. When I was 9 months pregnant in an icy winter (2015) and lost my glasses they made a replacement quickly and got it sent to me. Anthony sets the tone for exceptional and friendly help. I moved to SC in October 16. They have been making and shipping my frames to me now (I needed prescription sunglasses). Unlike other companies. If there were 6 starts I'd give them ! what a great place, what a service ! the crew is awesome, i've read some reviews before going there and i didn't think it was all that good, but yes, they are. Although is a fancy little store, the people who work there are really nice and friendly and really make you feel comfortable while trying the glasses on. Even though i got a living social voucher, i had a first class treatment. Once i had my glasses, the glass's axis was a little off, and i took to the store immediately. I was thinking they would be mad or pissed about it. but no, they didnt even argue, they took my glasses and they gonna solve the problems, no kidding, in 30 seconds my problem was solved!! the frames are a pricey, but completely worth how much you are paying !!! I've moved to Boston, recently lost my glasses and needed to replace them on short notice. These guys not only immediately sent over the info on my frame and prescription, they offered to make and overnight them to me at a competitive price in just a few days. Although I didn't take them up on the offer, I wish I had, the local opticians I ended up going with took a week and a half after promising a 2-3 day turnaround, were about $100 more expensive all-in and an absolute pain to deal with. read more
