I was given no hassle when I arrived with a script in hand and only needing glasses. They were the only shop from my multi-month search that had even one pair I was willing to consider wearing for the next year, let alone the three I found. The prices are great. Even if you were paying out of pocket, Westway prices things reasonably. Their OOP price for the glasses (with lens treatment add-ons) I chose was equal to what I've paid at other places after all the insurance coverages and discounts were calculated. Oscar never once pressured me with an upsell to get a second pair of glasses or sunglasses, and he gave really solid recommendations after quickly catching on to my sense of style. And my finished glasses were ready in less than a week! As if that weren't enough, Oscar effortlessly passed the test I do every time I shop for glasses. I go to the women's section first. I wait for someone to redirect me to the men's section. I say something like, "You never know what you'll find...", and I await their response. Oscar's? "Ok!" And he chilled behind the counter until I was ready. Many thanks to the team at Westway for nurturing such an inclusive and safe medical and retail environment. However, I was still deciding on new contacts and new glasses when the quarantine began. Thankfully, they were still reachable and operating remotely on a limited basis. I was able to coordinate my one year supply of contacts with my rebate, and it was mailed to me out of state where I was quarantining with family. When they were back in office, they helped me coordinate my new glasses and also had them shipped to me out of state. I'm beyond satisfied with their professionalism and empathy! I could deal with staff being morose and allergic to smiling if it wasn't also accompanied by a general shadiness that leaves me demoralized and feeling taken advantage of. Nothing has a price on it and she won't show you anything without first asking, Well, how much are you looking to spend? She looks over the glasses and you can see the wheels in her head turning as she considers how much she is going to try and charge you. She'll then quote you a price, offer a discount and then conveniently forget the discount when it comes to time to ring you up. She will try and convince you every single lens treatment is a must have, even the ones like a filter for blue light the efficacy of which is very much open to debate. Getting a copy of your prescription is like getting a work permit from the French government (even though it's your right!). I get a more ethical vibe from street vendors! To top it off, the selection here is terrible. They cannot answer even the most basic questions about the benefits offered by your health plan. When you ask, 'Is there any way you could look that information up?' she emits a soul destroying sigh to protest you interrupting her sedentariness. There is just a general carelessness to everything they do. They try to send you out with your new glasses without a case for them. They don't call you when your glasses are ready. I called them and they told me the glasses had arrived three days earlier! They often make you wait unreasonably long for scheduled appointments. I had to wait for 30 minutes once to get frames adjusted because the optometrist wouldn't do it and the only other staff member was "running an errand". They sent me home once with the wrong prescription!

"He used to be one of the owners- Not Joe, but his name is, is ANTHOoo000OOOOHHH" ---- I can see clearly now- "ANTHONY AIDEN! " All is right in the world for I remain among the legions of loyal customers of this EXCEPTIONAL VENDOR!!! I LOVE THIS STORE. ~O^O~ This is an edit or in my case an addition. OOPs My bad. I must clarify my review: I have been a customer with MYOPTICS for about a hundred years but mostly with this location. My review is of this store, previously known as Myoptics, and now called ANTHONY AIDEN, but remaining at: 42 St. Marks Place in the East Village. Being nosy, I wanted to know what happened. Why the name change? I assumed the name retired and didn't want to ask ANTHONY AIDEN because: A. It's not my business. and B. Anthony is a consummate gentleman and wouldn't reveal what wouldn't concern me anyway, . It would be bad form for me to ask. Good news for fans of other locations and web purchasers is- According to the Myoptics website are still in business! They post that the E Village location is no longer under their licensing group. I am a New Yorker who has been wearing glasses for 4+ decades. I can say, after having patronized many stores in various neighborhoods, that Anthony Aiden knows what he is doing. He is experienced, thorough, honest and has great taste. He has a very well-curated selection that appeals to different tastes and price points. He is also very patient and communicates quickly. I went to see Anthony initially because I was having problems with both my glasses (uncomfortable) and contact lenses (bi-focals that left me unable to see anything at arm's length or less) that I had purchased at another store where I also had my eyes examined. I wouldn't be writing this review if my issues, which were not simple, weren't resolved. I really don't feel the need to oversell his service because once you visit his shop and talk with him, you will know that you are getting a top-tier service. After trekking about town trying to find an optician that had that rare selection of frames that one could only wish to find in NY, I found them at Anthony Aiden! Staff was super helpful and not hovering and with sincere opinions really helped me reach a firm decision. I was leaving to go back to DC the same day and when i arrived, I realized I was so fixated on the frame that I did not pay attention to the tight fit on my temple and when I called, they told me what I needed to do, that it could easily be adjusted or that otherwise it would not be a problem to exchange/return them as long as in same condition. What a relief to know! I pray that my optician can fix my problem to my rare, only five like it in the whole world, gorgeous frames. These babies are def not mass produced and are very very personal which one can see from the craftsmanship and well thought out design. read more

Looking for glasses can be a frustrating experience. I have been looking long and hard for the right pair. That was until I found my perfect pair or should I say Sara the stylist on staff found my perfect pair of IC Berlins. I was then scheduled to see Dr. Mei who was very well versed, knowledgable and answered all my questions. I wanted to also have contact lenses but the doctor saw something questionable on my eye and sent me for a consultation with a corneal specialist (Dr. Curreri) as a precaution. The recommendation was much appreciated and the conclusion was that I would not be able to have contacts because of an old eye injury from childhood but picked up my new specs only days later. I originally encountered Anthony Aiden Opticians when I accompanied my sister to purchase a new pair of frames last summer. After realizing that I needed a new pair of frames (and spotting a sweet deal on LivingSocial.com - $39 dollars for $200 towards prescription glasses!) I decided to swing by Anthony Aiden today. Richie and the rest of the staff are truly amazing. Brandon even remembered my visit to the store in July! As someone who doesn't particularly enjoy shopping, especially for glasses, I found their opinions very helpful and honest. After picking out a Paul Smith frame I was told that my glasses would be ready in a day or so. A completely painless & stress-free process. I came across Anthony Aiden Opticians through a Groupon deal. I have to say that not only did I receive the most comprehensive eye exam I have ever had but it was the most fun I had at an eye exam. The staff was fun and engaging while at the same time professional and knowledgeable. Richie had me laughing the whole time and Sara was fantastic; she helped me find the perfect frames. I've been going to Anthony for eyeglasses for 23 years and he is the best. They have the best selection of high end eyewear I've ever seen and lenses are made on site - total control of the quality. Most places you go to send the glasses out to God-knows-where for lenses and you literally do not know what you're getting. I always walk out of that place happy because they care. I Love these guy's. Went in with my favorite glasses that broke. The place that I bought them from told me they coundn't be fix. I happened to pass this cool boutique on St. Marks Place and went in to check em out. Well not only did they fix my frames but sold me the hottest pair of Barton Perriera sunglasses. The service is spectacular and the assortment was well edited for the LES clientele....none of that upper east side fru fru stuff. Although they told me the tinted lenses would have UV blocking protection, these lenses FAILED the UV blocking test. I would be damaging my eyes if I would keep using them!!!! That apparently meant I would get no new prescription, When my lens' arrived, it was the same as I already had, Prior to the receipt of the lenses, I received at least six emails and texts asking for me to give positive feedback. Now, if I want the new lenses- which weren't even tested on me - I have to start all over again. Apart from this, the staff has so much attitude you could cut it with a knife. Rude, loud and unpleasant. I'll find another doctor.

I made my appt on Zocdoc…read more The staff was very friendly and helpful when they were checking me in and helping me order contacts. Dr. Rosen was very welcoming and efficient. I was also able to track my order through meet marlo which was nice. There was some confusion when I went to pick up my contacts, the person assisting me was looking around and couldn't initially find it but then someone else eventually found it like a few minutes later (which was fine but the first person kind of had an attitude and was questioning whether or not I really ordered. When the second person found it, there was no apologies or anything. Maybe the person was having a bad day?)
