We called to make a reservation and were told they didn't take any, when we arrived we couldn't be seated because the tables were reserve. we had to eat outside in the windy weather. Food snobs need not stop here. It's a breadth of fresh air in the stuffy, hoity toity Mystic vibe. I was picking up some take out and this woman at the bar just started talking to me. Turns out she'd been in Mystic blocks from AJs since 1976. She was very nice a pleasant as was the staff. Yes it's a darker old school bar vibe but it's refreshingly retro with nooks and crannies. Very good for a date or slow evening for two. The food is good not great but like I started this review you don't come here for a spectacular meal, you come here for a good meal, enjoyable atmosphere and to take a breadth from the snobbery and pretense of Mystic. read more

I'm so glad this restaurant is open during this crowded holiday season and the COVID-19 pandemic. The restaurant was very accommodating with a very friendly and helpful staff. The food was very good for a bistro fare. I had PEI oysters, a pear salad shared with my spouse, and the lobster ravioli. The ravioli tasted freshly made and served in a light cream sauce topped with lobster pieces. My spouse had the hot lobster roll. The interior is so cozy and cute but it was so busy, we were seated on the balcony, which I loved even more! They had heaters and it was so cute out there! It was quiet and soooooooo romantic! The seasonal steamers starter was great (and huge). The charcuterie plate was enough for two. Main courses, the baked shrimp scampi was special and very good as the veal parmigiana was outstanding. No room for dessert after all that food. They don't take reservations so arrive early at peak times and they seemingly have no dedicated parking so be ready to spend 10 minutes doing that. read more

Waited only 15 minutes for a table at 4:30. Went in and sat at the bar while we waited. Ordered a bottle of Justin cab and then our table was ready. We ordered the calamari and salmon carpaccio for our app. The waitress also brought this crispy crunchy Fabiola bread with this great garlic dipping sauce. Yum!!! Moving on we ordered the lobster ravioli, ossobucco, chicken Marsala and crab cakes- everything we ordered was absolutely decadent. The lobster ravioli was full of lobster the sauce light for an alfredo, the chicken Marsala was seasoned to perfection and the green beans a beautiful touch. The pizza was horrible. The crust reminds me of Elios, and the cheese was eh - so much so I'm not sure why they have this on the menu. The cobb salad thankfully on the other hand was excellent, featuring fresh hard-boiled eggs that were perfectly boiled amazing Gorgonzola and thick thick bacon properly fueled with all the veggies that belong and topped with Juicy grilled chicken. Parking is a bit of a problem, and although the server we had was very very nice and cute, I didn't like being seated in a section all by ourselves Dash it made us feel unwanted. I've walked by this place for too long without giving it a try. Finally went last night and was absolutely happy I did. Service was fantastic- nearly all are career veteran waitstaff and it shows. I could just order the garlic bread and veal meatballs in marinara all day long. If pressed the marinara and just the bread could sustain me for days. That is darn good "gravy"!! When you see homemade pasta on a menu, I don't get how folks order anything else. The bolognese and scallop dish, both with fresh parpadelle pasta were great. This place constantly has never let me down which is why I keep coming back to leave a review. This time I got some seafood dish that comes on a black stone and was beyond epic. The calamari, the lobster, the shrimp, and so much more that it came with were definitely worth the price. The oysters we got too were some of the biggest I had ever had. So, looking for a nightcap and a small snack, my wife and I stumbled upon Anthony J's. It was busy, as pretty much all taverns are on a Saturday night in Mystic. Small bar and a quite loud crowd. Nothing wrong with that! What is wrong is the prices and serving size of their food. So, to begin, I ordered a pint of their Sam Seasonal Ale. I was told it's their "Boston Lager". Ok, didn't know that was a seasonal ale, but no biggie. So, then I ordered their Fried Mozz, $14 and Garlic Bread, $6. See my pics. A pathetic, burnt, sorry serving of 2 round things were served in a kitty pool of Marinara. So. Sad. So Very Sad and Completely Tasteless. The garlic bread wasn't much better. Complete waste of money for both items. I would have rather spent that $20 at Applebee's next to my hotel. I'd only recommend this place if every other bar stool in town was taken. Ok it's crazy that I've not done a review here!! 2.5 years coming here. It's my fave in Mystic. Great food, great people, fantastic cozy atmosphere. Joe is my second most fave bartender (see my other reviews fir who My fave is). Tonight its a light day with wine and muscles. But on a regular night it's risotto and scallops, pasta or try their hot stone dishes. Definitely an A++ place and an A+++ bar. Love it. read more

Disappointed!!! The place is very nice on the inside and the staff was great but the food was not. My wife and I went there Saturday night 8--7-2021 only because every other place had a 2hr wait. We tried to order Calamari and Oysters but they where out of both. We both ordered eggplant parm. The sauce had a tin can taste to it and the eggplant was thick cut and under cooked. read more

This place was amazing which prompted me to write my first review ever on yelp. My boyfriend and I went to CT for a weekend gettaway with friends and decided to check out Mystic which was a hour drive from our hotel but after eating here it was so worth the drive. First off, let me begin by saying that this restaurant is the cuttest thing ever with a nice outdoor patio. So glad we were able to sit out there. My friend and I started off with a martini. Yummo! Then on to the delicious bread with oil and tomato dip..tasted like a garlic knot. I ordered the lobster ravioli and it was the best i have ever had in my life. The wait staff are super attentive and accommodating we had a sleeping toddler with us and immediately they knew that we shouldn't go inside because there was a loud group inside . I have been a 1/2 dozen times over the years. I will say that they are very consistent which is nice & reasonably priced for this area. The bar is fun yet small. Nice spot to stop in for a cocktail. The food is ok. I don't find it to be unique or exceptional in any way. I've had: Calamari, pear & gorgonzola salad, Chicken Marsala. the "banana split Sunday" is a grown up version & it's yummy. The portions are ample. The decor is dark, exposed stone/brick, quaint. Biggest gripe? The acoustics are tough- it's so loud you can barely have a conversation w your table mates! We were just driving through Mystic for a day or so. My husband found this place so we decided to try it. A lot of people on reviews had raved about the Hot Rocks so I ordered the seafood rock. I really was not impressed. There was not much flavor to any or it. It was mostly calamari and you had no room to cook your food bc it was all piled on the rock. It is also an a la cart menu, which bothers me. The inside was dark and a little dreary the tables were small. The staff seemed in a hurry to get us in and out not really interested in having dining guests. Just about every other restaurant in the area seemed to be more crowded and just looked nicer. Food is a bit pricy for what you get, but it tastes decent and the whole area is expensive. Wait staff can be kind of rude though if you accidentally cast shade on if anything is pre-prepared. I'm not sure what was up with our waitress actually as the whole meal she was curt, and generally seemed super annoyed. It kinda killed the fun of going out to eat for our last night in town. I docked a couple stars for it. The have gluten-free pasta, and the waitstaff is kinda clueless as to what is gluten-free and never offered to go check for us. WARNING: all the ice cream desserts come with a chocolate cake piece not listed on the menu. Had this when I was in Mystic with some friends for the day. We were hungry and just walking around and happened to stumble upon this place. Don't let the dim lighting get to you- the smells alone are great enough to bring you in. I had the penne Alfredo (minus chicken) and it was delicious! Just as great the next day. My other friends had eggplant Parmesan and calamari and a salad. All were great! Would definitely come back. And a special shout out to the bread basket with garlic infused oil. Pleasant waitress named Kate! Soups and appetizers and drinks follows by chicken, lobster ravioli and a veal dish. It was a nice time and the conversation dominated the evening with great friends so I was not paying attention to the food! LOL! Nice Cosmo. The location is very walkable from most marinas.
