Dining room loud and bright, service not very good, food took way too long and the salad that came with my 70 dollar filet mignon was basically Trader Joe's kale spring mix and some Italian dressing on top! From the staff to the food to the atmosphere, it's truly exquisite. They have an extensive wine selection and the sommelier, Art, is so knowledgeable! We started with the lobster bisque and wedge salad. Both were amazing and the presentation was top notch! The wedge was plated so nicely. I also had the lamb lollipop and crab cake - both were so delicious. The lamb was cooked to perfection and the crab cake was paired perfectly with the sauce. For my entree, I had the petite filet mignon - medium rare. They cooked my steak perfectly and it was so tender and delicious! The béarnaise sauce was so buttery and paired so well with the steak. I ordered the seafood risotto with lobster bisque and my husband had the Ribeye with Caesar salad. We also ordered grilled asparagus for our side dish. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. We finished with a nice warm cookie and ice cream for dessert. It was amazing and tasty! The only negative thing I have about this place was the location. Absolutely the best experience I have ever had with fine dining! They were busy but as to be expected! Please be patient as they are making your food very fresh! It was such a beautiful restaurant, it had very comforting vibes and all of the staff were very attentive and in such a great mood. We started with the house specialty Manhattan--which if you like Manhattan's, you'll love this one. From there, we got the cream of five onion soup and salad. The cream of five onion soup was exciting with the various onion flavors and the crispy fried onions. The only downside was that since it's inside a colossal onion, it's not a large amount. The salad was good too. For entrées, I got the filet mignon and my partner got the sea bass. Both were cooked perfectly and had such great flavors. As a life long Renoite I never expected a gem of a restaurant inside the Nugget, but that's exactly what this place is. The ambiance is elegant and intimate with bit of a cabin feel. It's great for dinner with friends or a special date night. I ordered the daily special which included and 8oz filet mignon with a raspberry glaze, asparagus, and a roasted potato. Two dinners here in 7 days and Anthony's did not impress me at all. After having a mediocre at best bone in Ribeye, I ordered their burger because I didn't enjoy the Ribeye last week and the burger was actually really good. Burger was seasoned and cooked perfectly, house cut fries were tasty! That's the good part, my Dad ordered the New York steak and did exactly what I did last week, took a bite and grabbed the salt shaker. He had been here before a few years ago and said it was really good and was skeptical about my critical review of the steaks but he said it was under seasoned and disappointing. Steak was not juicy and delicious, just ok. He said it was not piping hot like it just came off the grill, like it had sat a little too long under a heat lamp, my steak last week was similar not cold but not hot&fresh off the grill and definitely no juices oozing out of it after the first cut. The a la carte style serving might be similar to other high end Restaurants but is an overrated idea , to have a steak on one huge plate and a potato on another plate doesn't really do anything but take up more table space and complicate a simple steak dinner. My wife has the chicken marsala and did not like it, the sauce was slightly sweet and not savory and delicious. The chicken was bone in and skin on , skin doesn't allow flavor to penetrate the meat and in this case the sauce and flavor was not great and if not cooked perfectly the meat isn't as easy to pull off the bone and the chicken meat was sticking hard to the bone and not juicy tender and delicious. I tried a bite and normally I finish my wife's plate because she is a light eater, but we left more than 1/2 of the Chicken Marsala on the plate, " would you like a to go box?" No thank you !! If I was the manager of Anthony's I would eat a steak dinner once a week and ask yourself was that the best steak I've ever had??? I assume that's the goal for any fine dining establishment to have every customer walk out raving about how incredible their meal was, especially a restaurant like Anthony's with quite the reputation in the Reno area. I was so sure that Anthony's steaks were mediocre that I ordered a cheeseburger because my steak a week ago was so underwhelming and watching my dad eat his mediocre 60$ steak sealed the deal for me and made me glad I ordered the burger because it was actually as good as any burger I've ever had. I'd definitely sit at a pub table in the bar area and eat a burger here but that's all I can really recommend. Both these dinners were complimentary with my dad and I each having a 200$ dining credit for the month of April, I hate to be critical of a free meal and thank you to the Nugget for giving us an opportunity to try Anthony's Chophouse but I was hoping to be impressed and looking forward to adding Anthony's to a short list of special occasion restaurants in the area but it missed the mark, twice!! If I had to pay for both these meals I would've had even higher expectations and been even more disappointed. Went here for the first time and wasn't sure what to expect because of all the mixed reviews. I ordered take out and got here a few minutes prior to closing. We ordered: 1. Crabcakes- They were amazing, it had a nice crunchy crust out on the outside. The first bite, was like a flavorful explosion in your mouth. One of the best I've ever had. 2. 20 oz. Ribeye cooked medium- It was so tender, that I could cut it with the plastic fork they gave me. Didn't need a steak knife. 3. Maine lobster tail - Delicious, definitely worth it. 4. Mashed potatoes - simple but so tasty, couldn't get enough. 5. Macaroni and cheese - it was meh, honestly kraft macaroni and cheese is better. Don't waste your time. 6. Complimentary 3 clove bread - Delicious, each roll was a different flavor 7. Creme brulee - The sugar top was nice and crunchy, definitely complimented each other as a whole. Not too sweet and the fruits was a nice balance. 8. Cheesecake - Eh, not too sure if it's the healthy kind. Texture was weird, it would just crumble when you try to scoop it with a fork or spoon? But the crust was yummy... Overall, I had a great experience. The bartender who helped me with my order was super nice and thorough. Definitely, got my money's worth. Anthony's is always reliable for a very good meal. Service is pretty informal for a place of this caliber/price, but generally very good. Ambience is pretty standard steakhouse, which is to say very nice and clubby. It's noisy (this was a Saturday night) and because it's in a casino, I guess they can't be too picky about their dress code, but ambience would be a lot nicer with fewer baseball caps left on the head, shorts and Crocs and tee shirts. This was our second visit to Anthony's. Last time, everything about our experience here was great with the exception of our inconsistency cooked steaks. I stated in my previous review that if that hadn't been the case, my review would've easily been a 5. Well, I'm thrilled to report that those "newly opened restaurant" kinks have been ironed out. All the positives in my previous review still stand. The service is excellent and they hit a home run with the decor, lighting. My favorite cocktail, the 'Smoked Manhattan', is still being served and was as tasty as I remember. The bread was warm and full of flavor. It seriously the best bread I've ever eaten. Now, let's get to the hero of the joint; the steaks. Last time, my filet was cooked half medium, half medium-well. That worried me as that usually occurs when dealing with a thawed steak. However, I chalked it up to them still being new. I'm not sure if they hired new Chefs or provided better training but either way, my filet was cooked to perfection (medium). The knife cut right through without resistance and the side-served peppercorn sauce was the perfect accompaniment. I've been to just about every steakhouse in the Reno/Sparks area and now that Anthony's have stepped up their game, they are new favorite and "go-to" steakhouse. I have wanted to try Anthony's for some time now and fortunately was provided that opportunity when a good friend decided to celebrate her birthday dinner here. The restaurant itself was beautiful like just about any other casino steakhouse. It's unfortunate that you just have to walk though the smoke filled and rundown Nugget but that doesn't take away from the restaurant and it's service/experience. Due to covid restrictions we had a small group and were pleasantly surprised to be tucked away in a beautiful private room. We all order steaks with the exception of my wife who order a seafood risotto. Everyone's temperature were also as requested with the exception of one who would have preferred her steak to have been a bit more rare than medium hut it was still damn close. I order the bone in 20oz rib eye which was on point! We didn't order an special appetizers outside of soup as a starter and which was clam chowder and delicious. I was in a full card load dipping their delicious fresh baked bread in the clam chowder. Dessert came with a warning and we glad to have been warned. The 24 layer chocolate cake slice was legit a foot tall and even after we all took slices out of the slice we had leftovers. Overall, it was amazing to look at but really didn't live up to the hype taste wise. Overall, it was a good experience but for the price I really wouldn't go back unless for a rare special occasion . I had a forgettable steak dinner, meat was under seasoned, didnt seem to be fresh off the grill and was underwhelming in every way. Anthonys definitely has the feel of a nice restaurant, good atmosphere and you walk in with high expectations, especially when you see the prices.... You expect a way above average meal with a wow factor. I cant think of anything that was above average except the prices, clam chowder was ok, salad and bread were forgettable and the main course missed the mark. Service was decent, nothing was good enough to make me want to give Anthonys another try. Texas Roadhouse does a way better rib eye for 1/3 of the price, and it comes with all the fixings. We made reservations for a Saturday at 7:30 about a week ahead of time for our Anniversary. We booked a room and did an staycation. The ambiance as soon as you come down the escalator into the restaurant is amazing! Rustic, leather, wine, antlers, and gorgeous bar! Our server was incredible, his name was Blake, and his helper was Jose' who kept our table clean and water full. I was so in awe of the seafood risotto and cannot recommend it enough! My husband's wedge salad was a great twist on a classic ale his steak was cooked to perfection. I had a nice Zinfandel with dinner and my husband had an Icky. We were too stuffed for dessert but the server sent us back to our room with anniversary cheesecake on him. Went for a wonderful Valentine's Day dinner with my guy. They had a price fixe 4-course option which was a great value with a lot of food if you have a big appetite. Lots of diners/couples ordered it and they all left with to-go boxes. We decided to order off the regular menu instead and still had way too much food for two. The ambience is typical steakhouse (dark walls, comfy chairs, low lighting) with an elegant lobby bar/lounge at the hostess check in area, which is on the lower level of the Nugget Casino in Sparks just outside of Reno. The service was a bit pressured but then again, Valentine's Day has a way of doing that! The restaurant did not seem overcrowded with plenty of spacing in between tables and lots of tables for two for the special occasion. We were served water and a basket of 3 kinds of bread (blue cheese, olive and sun dried tomatoes) and butter when seated. After a while the waiter took our order and opened our bottle of wine. We arrived one hour early and asked the hostess if she could decant our wine until we were seated. Unfortunately they just held the bottle for us while we played some slots upstairs in the casino and placed it on our table, unopened, when we were seated. We had a dozen oysters on the half shell that came with lemon and 3 sauces - horseradish, cocktail and vinegar. Oysters were really good, sauces just ok. Next our steak came with choice of soup or salad. We opted for New England clam chowder which had clams in every bite - deliciously flavorful and filling. Soups and sides come in mini copper pots with lids. Next up was the 20 oz. bone-in rib eye prepared perfectly at medium rare. Our steak was tender and flavorful, as expected. There is a choice of several sauces and we tried peppercorn and bernaise. The sauces didn't add much so we preferred to eat the rib eye without them. We got mushrooms and potatoes au gratin as our sides. The mushroom variety was really good. The potatoes were firm and tasted slightly undercooked with melted cheese on top but lacking in flavor. It's almost representative of a bygone era with select modern updates. The service was remarkable from start to finish and the food was delicious. Venue: located on the downstairs/bottom level of the Nugget Casino and it's well kept and easy to find. Although, it can be unassuming when you pass by the gold/silver plated CHOPHOUSE signage on the wall by the escalator. Once you go downstairs, it immediately opens up to the rest of the restaurant and the first thing you run into is the host's desk and the bar. Very roomy and sleek. I could have hanged out at the bar all night. Service: From start to finish, it was wonderful. Khanh was an awesome server and made our night wonderful. We were celebrating a birthday and he made it extra special for us at our table. He and Thomas were very attentive and the service was quick and fast. Food: the half rack of lamb was very fulfilling for me (1-person). I added a side of lobster Mac-and-cheese but it was a bit of an overkill. The lamb was cooked perfectly as requested to medium rare and the potatoes/carrot that were served with it were nicely grilled. I had the privilege of visiting this restaurant for a Yelp Elite event right before Covid hit and was so bummed to cancel all of our plans when things shut down. Two years later, after waiting a bit for staffing to level out, I decided to return and was not disappointed. We were celebrating my wonderful step dad's birthday and both my mom and he are disabled. We had to come in through the basement tunnel which was a little hard to find - however; the main host was kind enough to come find us after we got some confusing directions. Once we were seated everything was on point. The food was truly delicious; we started with clams and scallops. The scallops had a really tasty pear fennel jam that actually won best flavor of the night from me! I ordered the elk chops which may have been slightly over the medium rare I requested, or maybe I should have ordered them rare, but either way they were spectacular. The house sauce was probably my favorite of the group that they brought us. I ordered roasted Brussels sprouts which were delish. My daughter ordered the lamb rack - as usual - and - as usual - it was the best plate of food on the table. Perfectly rare and come with roasted purple potatoes and veg. The Demi glacé sauce was off the charts. Probably her favorite of the night. Mom got her usual filet and baked potato and was happy with the béarnaise sauce. The guest of honor - it was my step dad's birthday - ordered the prime, bone in New York and was extremely happy with it. He and I shared a slew of sauces and I think the peppercorn went best with his steak. The chop options ( including a list of bone in prime beef steaks) were plentiful and I bet everything on the menu is incredible. Our experience was a 10/10, we had the privilege of being served by Kemal and his 20+ years of service definitely showed. He was very personable, sharing some great recommendations and stories along the way. We started off with crab cakes and scallops that were both exceptional, they had sauces that came along with it but was needed since the small plates themselves had plenty of flavor. Our main dish was a 20oz Ribeye and a house special NY steak/lobster tails that were both cooked to perfection, we accompanied this with asparagus, potatoes (sorry can spell the other fancy way to describe them) and a clam chowder, all being very flavorful and amazing . This is the kindest one star I will ever give. I decided to do one of those $200 dinners you gotta do every now and then. When I go out for a $200 dinner, I expect every single thing I eat to be good. Nay, excellent. That was not the case here. my friend asked me how the dinner went. I told him I paid $259 for a salad, because that was the only thing in this meal that was worth anything. And the clam chowder, which is hilarious because they were both the appetizers. First off, I knew my meal was going to be screwed. I have a sixth sense about these things and when the server told me that they didn't have a baked potato, I was already one foot out the door. I like to split a good steak with my wife, as she can never finish it, but I like chicken, and an awesome baked potato. I've been known to order two. So hearing that a large party took up all the baked potatoes was a bad omen. I felt like John Candy and Summer rental when the lobsters were all gone. Our waitress was really nice, only she did that thing I cannot stand. She did not write down any of our order. That's fine, you wanna flex your mental muscles and remember my order verbatim. The only thing is, if you do that with me, you better not make a mistake, and as it turned out I stumbled through my order like I had never been in a restaurant before. That wasn't gonna help her, and another good reason why you should write things down. People don't always order without stumbling, even Elite Yelpers. So I ordered a ribeye medium, what I got was a medium rare, and I think more toward rare because the manager that I called over took a look at the steak and asked me if I ordered medium rare. Using his keen, well-trained eye he could see my steak was undercooked. Refire. I hate refire. Was it my waitress's fault for getting my order wrong because she didn't write it down? Me thinks so, either way, a qualified chef in a steakhouse should be able to get a medium steak right every time. Was the steak good? Yes, it was good, but it was nothing exceptional. Actually, right toward the end I got a bite that was perfectly seasoned. The rest of the steak was pretty meh. Next, the lobster. Again, back to the beginning. If you are going to charge me $90 for a lobster, then that lobster needs to come to the plate with that fluffiness. That look like a popcorn kernel that just popped. This was opaque. Now, here is the other thing. I am not going to make a scene in your restaurant. I'm not going to send back the dish, although I had to with the steak because it could be salvaged by a refire. But lobster? This was for my wife, and she has a very good palate, so the reason I did not make an issue was she said it was okay. I tried a bite. it was not the correct consistency. I was just at Dukes two weeks ago, a friend of mine ordered an exact lobster like that. And it was that popcorn, it melted in your mouth. It was perfect. So, I have a recent reference to what a steakhouse lobster should be. I tried to save the manager from this review, and I asked him, "does this looked right?" When he brought back my steak. He looked at it with that same keen eye and said yes, then picked up the plate and used his phone flashlight to take a look at it, which I did not mind. When he turned it sideways with the light I saw that was at least cooked through. My wife ate it, but I know her. It did not bring her any food joy, and this is her food joy. And this particular item was the reason we went out to a steakhouse. Now we get to the one star. I ordered a chicken Parmesan. I had just ordered a chicken Parmesan at the J steakhouse recently. You can go read my review on that. You can see by my review that I appreciate a great attempt at culinary excellence. This piece of chicken was OK, until I got about halfway through. And then I got a bite of the most gamey piece of meat I have ever received in any establishment. I stopped eating immediately. Now when the server came back by and asked if everything was OK, I said yes. Because she can see the food on my plate not eaten, she could have delved a little. Again, my expectation is very high. I'm in a classy setting. I don't want to be the center of anyone's attention. She can see that I did not eat my dinner. I'm 6'3 and 250 pounds, we don't leave our dinners. I honestly can't remember the last time I had to just stop eating at the revulsion of what was just in my mouth. I had to spit it into my napkin it was that bad. I know what you're thinking, you would've sent it back. Most people would have. I'm not most people. If my waitress was smart enough to take my order without writing it down, and she should've been intuitive enough to know I did not eat my dinner, but I also did not want to create any scene to ruin the ambience of my situation. read more

I just had my 4th dinner here and was waiting to make sure it wasn't a fluke. It is not, this is the real deal. Starting with Art, this man is a pure restaurateur, kind of surprising to see this talent that stays in Reno/Sparks. He has a true passion for Anthony's. Visiting him is like dining at Harrah's Steak House back in the day. The Food: To find fault in the flavors, selections, and proper cook would be difficult. All of the menu items have been plated smartly and asking for adjustments is easy. Some highlights I have found would include: appetizers of Lamb, Scallops, or Crab Cakes. Salads: the Chop or Caprese. Dinner: the Filet Mignon with Potatoes au Gratin or the Risotto with Grilled Asparagus. The walls of wine will dazzle you, but make no mistake, each is there for a good reason. The is a wine for any taste or budget. The Service: It doesn't matter if you are there in a private room for a special event or in the main dining room you will find a team of people that are friendly and pay attention to the details of good service.
