This establishment is tops for the main line when it comes pizza, with also this being a "chain joint" these guys set that " proverbial bar " in great pizza. This ought to be fun doing this. I and my partner in crime Steven B. had met up here on Wednesday for some great food, refreshing beverages , with some great conversations to add. Does it get any better than that, I doubt it. I feel I will be jumping around a lot in this review because of a great experience I or we I should say received at Anthony's. Get your motion sickness pills ready just in case I do start jumping back and forth. OK where does one start with this review, so many to choose from. I can go with the wings with a bed of caramelized onions over top, with a focaccia bread holding everything in place. The flavor , that taste of garlic , not overpowering ,lightly dressed with oil , that full body flavor of rosemary and other herbs that just dazzle your taste buds with every perfect bite. Steven had mentioned to me earlier that he was not a wing fan, but wanted to try one, 5 wings later he is hooked. (Score 1 for the good guy) The pizza, that beautiful thin crust pizza, that inviting taste , a slight char to the crust , the flavors upon flavors making your taste bud work some overtime. This was another work of art the way everything fell into place with every bite.Oh the choices for pizza alone will make you salivate , makes you want to order the whole section alone . I feel I will frequent this place more than once so I can cross off Broccoli Rabe and Sausage from the list of masterpieces. The sausage had a great taste to it, evenly distributed over and in between the broccoli rabe. Another plus is, if you enjoy broccoli rabe ( which I love by the way) these guys did it right. It is either hit or miss with this and these guys nailed it . What I mean if your a not familiar with this there are 2 ways you can cook/prepare broccoli rabe, and I have had it both ways growing up . Steamed , or pan fried with olive oil , garlic and hot peppers. One is more on the bitter side than the other. . I can also go with the decor featuring great sporting events, memorabilia framed on the walls, along with great actors /actresses / models and singers of different era's. I have never written a review about a bathroom, nor have I ever taken a picture of a restaurants bathroom. Now I don't know what is hanging up in the ladies room, maybe James Dean, Hugh Hefner or Elvis or even a Kennedy I heard he loved women. The gentleman's room I hadn't noticed until I looked up and some chicky in the picture was checking out the goods, I had a look as a What the *bleep* looks, kinda felt violated as I was laughing my ass off. I had told Steve to go to the bathroom to check it out, women just starring at you as you do what ever you need to do . (no he didn't go) Great bathroom experience, yes I know I just said it. The bar, that beautifully well equipped bar with taps of delicious crafted beers , for the beer enthusiasts in you. The liquor selections, with bottles of wine that separated the shelves that kept you intrigued .The flat screens placed perfectly with great view points from where ever you sit. The bartenders here are friendly , they had no issues of giving out a freebie here or there when asked upon. (Jackie = A+ ) Also come to find out during the week they do specials, Mondays and Tuesdays is half price drafts and appetizers, Wednesdays is a M&M day. No not chocolates (peanut or pretzel m&m fan here) but a Martini and Meatball day. All the meatballs you can eat (free ) with a side spoon of some delicious ricotta to go with this delicious meatball. $5.00 martini any preference made with Double Cross Vodka. This is a smooth tasting vodka that I got a shot to try for free by the way. What can I say I am smooth like that, I can make creamy peanut butter look chunky. This is a great establishment, great service, great food, great company, all around a great time. These guys are up there when it comes to pizza, this is my new Celebre's for the main line. They do not have any drinks that are sugar free and caffeine free. I brought a diet lemonade in and ordered a large pizza. They told me I couldn't drink the lemonade I brought in and they would make a diet lemonade for me. They squeezed a few lemons into a glass of water, added some ice and changed 3.99. We haven't been to this location because we've been to the Exton location. The menu format has changed even the menu items but we found the pizza we like. We ordered the family house salad , a large Paulie's pizza, and a small pepperoni pizza. The restaurant was packed but service and lacking. We had to ask for everything . Paulie's pizza is so flavorful with ricotta, sausage, meatballs and sweet peppers. It is by far our favorite pizza. My 3 year old ate 3 slices of pepperoni pizza. Food was delicious but even down to details, we asked for salad before we had pizza and to stagger the pizza. Management went over and beyond making sure we were satisfied. I'm glad that even in this day that customer satisfaction means something. As a family of 5 with 3 kids, dining can be hectic but having great food and service makes for pleasant evening. read more

We went there ordered a pepperoni pizza and after 35 minutes decided to just take it home since we were no longer in the mood to eat it there. The waitress apologized but we assured it it was fine. We arrived home and thought it might be nice to heat up a slice. 'The pizza was nothing like the ones we had purchased in the past and it didn't have any pepperoni. Unfortunately we now have to explore other pizza restaurants and hope we discover a good and honest one. read more

This place opened not too long ago in Wayne. The good: - Terrific service from our friendly waitress - Said waitress brought us some free wings samples, which are delicious and highly recommended. - The decor is impressive and the atmosphere is more of an upscale sports bar with flatscreen TVs on the walls. - Mozzarella and basil pizza is terrific. They even bring you some balsamic vinegar and olive oil to pour over it. The not so good: - While they have a full bar, I found their wine selection to be limited. Very nice choice in Wayne if you are looking for a little more than a basic cheese pizza. I am still in search of a great plain cheese pizza in Wayne, but Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza was a nice change from the basic. I heard mix reviews about Anthony's from a few different friends. One friend said it was the best she had, while another said she had too high of expectations. I find myself right in the middle based on location and quality. We ordered the small classic Italian salad and the Paulie's Pie. The small is plenty of salad for 2, maybe even 3 people if you just want something refreshing before eating a heavy pizza. The Paulie's Pie consists of meatballs, sausage, hot or sweet peppers & ricotta cheese. We went with the long hots because why not!? It added the right amount of tanginess, but if it is still too much for you its easy to take off the top. Overall the pizza was great in size, taste, and quality. Very surprised considering this is a chain restaurant. This place has easy parking since it is within a shopping center off of Lancaster Ave. It was MUCH louder inside than I expected. It may be set up different at other Anthony's locations, but this particular location was more of a sports bar first, than a restaurant. Even for the size it was pretty loud. We were here with a bunch of friends after church, and it was an all-around good experience! I hadn't been to Anthony's before, though I'd seen locations around, and it was a good first visit. The chicken wings are different from the type you usually get at restaurants, which are fried and covered in some sort of sauce. In contrast, the ones at Anthony's are baked and relatively dry, with herbs and such, and served over flatbread. It's a nice change from the typical style, and tastes really good. It's also nice that they have lots of different varieties of pizza. We tried some margherita, cauliflower, cheese steak... all of them were tasty! The staff was also very nice and accommodating. Even though we had a huge group, they were great about making sure we had enough water and such, and cleaned up our plates a few times. I'll definitely keep it as an option for lunch next time we're around the area! read more

I've always enjoyed coming to Anthony's. Sometimes I feel as though it can be a bit crowded and that leads to slower service/ longer wait for food, but everything always tastes great. My family and I ordered take out from here last week and we ordered 20 wings and a Large Square Margherita Pizza for dinner. As always, the wings were juicy and moist with a heaping pile of carmelized onions being served with the wings. The pizza reheated well and was tasty. I'm more of a meat topping person but I would order this pizza again. The only reason I cannot give ACFP a 5 star review is the bread served with the wings was stale and our order was cold when we picked it up (we called from the parking lot and waited they 20 minutes we were told we'd have to wait until our order was ready). Just straight up not good. We've had pizzas here multiple times and it's always burned beyond what is comfortable (and I love charred food).

Meatballs were some of the best I have ever had. Soft, moist, and meaty. Would recommend!!!

While it's not a bar atmosphere like Cheers (the tv show from the 90's), it feels like it when we step 10' inside. Before we even get greeted by our favorite ACFP employee (the one and only Marisa - don't know her? Scroll down and read the rest of the Raving Fans reviews), she has arrived with an infectious smile and the adult beverages she knows my wife and I will order. She knows we'll start with the large Caesar Salad but needs to see if we're getting wings and/or how we will split the toppings on our large pizza. We always order a large - kids come visit and look in freezer knowing we froze pizza from every visit. Yes, Marisa is a twin but we wish we could have another one always available at other restaurants. By the way, we find out ahead of time if Marisa is working to confirm our decision to go to ACFP on any given evening. She IS the Gold Standard of client satisfaction in the restaurant industry. One of the better pizza places in the area... with a caveat. No complaints about the food, and I've always had good service. They were especially kind and helpful when I was hobbling around on crutches a few months ago. But holy hell, it can get noisy! Between college students, the usual entitled Main Line locals shrieking as they toss down cocktails, several TVs, and hard walls, the dining room can get uncomfortably noisy. To some people M&M means those delightful little candies there are so addictive for many folks. No, I didn't say S&M. That's an entirely different subject! However, for fellow Yelper Nando F. and me it means Martini & Meatball night at Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza! So if you are looking for info about chocolate candy, or S&M you can skip this review. Otherwise read on. So the two of us stopped in this Wednesday night around five and the place was just getting going. Nando arrived first and I found him sitting at the bar flirting with the pretty bartender. So here's the deal with M&M night. Any kind of martini you want is $5. It's sponsored by Double Cross Vodka so that will be in your drink. Other than that there are no restrictions. And the glorious meatballs are free. They are a slightly larger than a golf ball and served with a little red sauce and a dab of ricotta cheese on the side. They are delicious and you can have has many as you want. As we munched on meatballs we perused the menu. Numerous fellow Yelpers had raved about both the wings and the pizza so we decided to order both and share. I'm usually not a wing guy but these bad boys changed my mind. A small order of 10 pieces goes for $9.75. These delicious morsels are lightly tossed in olive oil, garlic, rosemary, and maybe another herb or two. Then they are stacked on top of slices of delicious focaccia and buried under a pile of perfectly cooked caramelized onions. I know, I know this sounds incredibly good and it is. For a guy that usually doesn't like wings these were fantastic. Next out was the Broccoli Rabe & Sausage Pizza. We ordered the large 16 inch pie for $19.95. These are thin crust pizzas baked in an 800 degree oven. This one was cooked perfectly and we enjoyed every bite. The toppings are well distributed over the pie and the amount of toppings is great. It's not often you get a truly fine meal at a chain restaurant but for me, and I believe Nando agrees, we had a four star experience. read more

WOW. Anthony's is the real deal. I was torn between the eggplant pizza and the cauliflower pizza, but after the waiter disclosed that those two pizzas are probably the best/most popular, I just ordered both! Oh, and I got a plain for good measure. :) Each pizza was unbelievable... I still cannot determine which one was my favorite. The eggplant on the eggplant pizza was not fried, and the plentiful amount of sauce was flavorful and fresh. The cauliflower pizza was so unique, and certainly did not skimp on cauliflower. The plain pizza was just outright amazing. None of the pizzas were limp or greasy. Perfection. The service could not have been better. Our waiter took the time to tell us his favorite pizzas and why he liked them, and even answered our questions concerning future visits to the restaurant (such as if they take reservations - they don't!) He was so friendly and accommodating, and made me want to return just for such a refreshing personality. The menu is limited, but that doesn't mean that there isn't something for everyone. Both standard pizzas and gourmet pizzas are offered. I would much rather dine at a restaurant like Anthony's that offers a more limited menu but with quality ingredients and service. read more

Ok so to start we ordered takeout and got 2 pizzas and an order of wings. 1 pizza was cheese, the other was some sort of meat lovers I forget the name of the pizza. Wings were just a regular sized order. To start both pizzas were burnt on the bottom and crust, taste was not very good but edible. Wings were abysmal and when i say abysmal i mean it. Completely chard and burnt on one side with only light charing on the other. This charing made the wings almost inedible, the sauce was fine but flakes of chard wing kept appearing and ruining the flavor. I don't know how a pizza place fails to make the bread and butter of pizza places but what I do know is that there are far better pizza places to spend your money in. I don't get the great reviews that this place gets. What it tells me is that the Main Line is in dire need of a real upscale non-bertuccis pizza place. First the good ... The place is clean and stylish but definitely screams chain. The wait staff is very nice and attentive. Now the not so good. The family style salad we had was certainly a decent quantity, but I expect a lot more for $9 than a bunch of chopped romaine, a few slices of tomato and egg and about 6 olives and ten chick-peas. Really? Add to that the fact that they only offer two salad dressings: red wine vinegarette and oil and vinegar. Skip the salad (there was only one other salad choice and that didn't have lettuce). The pizza we had (tomato and mozzarella with red sauce) was a total disappointment. Brick over doesn't mean scorched end crust (like they needed a fire extinguisher scorched). The tomatoes tasted as if they had been frozen and the mozzarella low grade. The pizza also lacked any seasoning (but so did the salad). We won't be back read more

My brother has been trying to get me to go here for about a year now, and this weekend we finally made it in! We went around 3:45 on a Sunday, which was good because hardly anyone was in there. After hearing so much about the wings, before I had even looked at the menu my mind was set that an order would be perused, We went with an order of 20. Now we just had to agree on a pizza between the 3 of us. Well the waiter helped us on that by telling us you can order a half of any kind of the pizza they offer even a red and a white. We went with half plain, and half meatball and ricotta. The wings were delicious, they were covered with caramelized onions and the wings itself were on top of some focaccia bread. I believe they cooked the wings in Each bite i placed some onions on my wings for that extra flavor. I have never tasted wings so good! Even the bread that soaked up all the juices were delicious. I think we ate about 5 each because we didn't want to ruin our appetite for the pizza. The meatball half was covered with mini meatballs, I mean each slice could of had 15-20 mini meatballs on it, it was awesome with every bite you got some meatball. The plain was very good as well. Their pizza is thin and crispy. As the signs all over say mind you the Pizza will be cooked well done, so expect the crust to be black and crispy. Honestly would probably give this place a 2.5 but since I love the decor I'll bump it up to 3. I like the old black and white photos on the walls. (And the pictures of Clooney, Pitt, and Depp in the bathroom!) They have signs up around the restaurant saying WARNING: PIZZA IS WELL DONE! In other words... your pizza will be burnt to a crisp. Not really my thing, yet surprisingly yummy. It's thin crust so burning it is probably a good thing. Nobody wants to eat a limp, flaccid piece of pizza. You heard me. They don't have fountain soda which is strange to me. They give you a bottle. I had a lunch pizza (the one with the sausage and peppers and ricotta cheese) It was described to me as "really spicy" but it really was not spicy at all.
