Pleasantly surprised... I had heard and read some negative things, but found none of them to be true. I ended up coming to Anthony's after a disastrous experience trying to get served add another Radnor pizza spot. We were seated right away, with no wait. Our server was fast and pleasant. We had three different pizzas, as well as meatballs. All were very good. The ingredients seemed very fresh. All of the food came out piping hot. Pizza toppings were generous. I was also pleased to find out that they have a good selection of craft beer. I'm sure to return. read more

Meatballs were really good - especially the gravy and ricotta cheese for dipping the focaccia. As always, the wings were spectacular and filling with the carmelized onions and more bread. Finally, we split a salad with tuna that was also right on. Normally, I think of Anthony's as noisy, but maybe that is just me preferring to stuff my face and watch the Phils, at the expense of my lucky dining mates. However, tonight I had dinner with a dear old friend and we were able talk enough to pretty much map out the next 20 years of our lives. We tried the Fresh Mozzarella Sliced Tomato & Basil, and it just seemed like it was lacking flavor. This was also really bad leftover :( We also got a pepperoni, and I was really happy with how many pepperonis were on it, and it was definitely good pizza just not great. Ordered online from their website on a Friday night. Tip is if you're ordering place your order like your picking up 15 min before your actual pick up time because this place is BUSY for pick up. Had to wait an extra 20 minutes, but everyone was super pleasant and I think they where able to tell I was a bit annoyed because they gave me free cannolis. Went with my four year old daughter for an earlyish dinner on a Saturday night in early fall, and really enjoyed it. I had always heard great things, and we were excited to check it out. Solid beer list, and both our server and the trainee he had with him were super attentive, knowledgeable, friendly and professional. My daughter loved her pizza, and I thought it was excellent as well. I went with an order of wings, which came highly recommended and were big and meaty. They are served dry, in the traditional "Italian/rustic" style, so they aren't usual wings and they probably aren't going to be for everyone. Prices were good, we will totally be back. I didn't come here for the wings, but that's one of the top reasons to go back. I had passed this place a few times before, never enticed to go in. I went when a friend and I were turned away from another place because someone had put their car into a power pole and knocked out the electricity. This unfortunate turn caused me to find a new favorite spot for small bits of chicken cooked over a beautiful bed of charcoal instead of being boiled in oil. The result was simple and fantastic. Loved the flavor and texture. Really brilliant. I said I didn't come here for the wings, and that was true. Our detour from the previous target had us settling for pizza, and the pizza here turned out to be another reason to return later. Good ingredients, well prepared over coals: excellent pizza in a crowded market. But it was the good service that turned us on for the wings. Since we confessed to the server that we had never frequented this place before, she offered to bring us each a couple of wings to try one the house. That turned into a subsequent dozen. I was told later by another friend that as food as those were, there's an even better recipe on offer at Anthony's. So yes, I'll be back. Something like this is also usually much better straight out of the oven, not optimal for delivery. Did try reheating as per instructions on inside of pizza box but still didn't make it a great experience. Chicken wings with house dry rub had good flavor but almost completely ruined by extreme oversalting. Sausage and roasted pepper sandwich delicious. However, had asked for meatball sandwich. Prosciutto sandwich not much to speak of as far as flavor. One thin prosciutto slice weighed down with a forest of arugula. Pita-like bread was chewy, which I liked. I went here for a business lunch this past week and had a great experience. We arrived at the heart of the lunch rush, and yet the service was very quick and friendly. I think we were all shocked at how fast the food came out, but they were firing on all cylinders! I didn't have pizza (surprise! considering where we were), but I had just had pizza the night before so I needed to eat something different. The other two folks DID have the pizza and they were both very happy with it. I had a coal-fired chicken sandwich... which was just amazing. Everything from the caramelized onions to the arugula... was very tasty! I enjoyed a couple of cold draft beers while I was there too - why not? Well...I was a regular here for about six years, and every time I come here, I am greeted with friendly service and delicious food. The best wings I've ever had, and the pizza is amazing, especially the Philly cheesesteak and the Margherita. Great for takeout too. Even when they're crowded, and it gets REALLY crowded at lunch hour and especially for dinner, I am never disappointed. But recently, there's been an unfortunate decline. Not in the food, but service-wise is another story. Although most of the servers are very friendly and helpful (99% of them), there is one particular waitress who consistently gave our table poor service our last two visits. The first time, she messed up our order, but we didn't want to argue and we just wanted to enjoy a lunch that ended up lasting over an hour because they had to remake the pizzas a bunch of times. But it was okay. My fam and I went in the other day and were greeted with the same waitress. But it was fine. No big deal. Until we were seated and she proceeded to bring up the fact that she messed up our order last time in a really derogatory way, as if WE had been at fault for it. Spewing things like "Oh, it wasn't MY fault. You guys got lucky, you got more pizza than you ordered! What do you want me to do, tell the kitchen NOT to mess up the order this time?" We were really confused and a little angry about how we were being treated. She had no reason to rehash the whole thing and ruin our whole vibe. It was clear there was no dealing with her, so we asked the manager to give us a different waitress, who was very friendly and quick and apologized repeatedly for what had happened. The Meatballs & Ricotta Pizza, the little meatballs are so tasty the sauce was amazing. Plain pizza, Grande Mozzarella, Italian Plum Tomatoes, Romano Cheese, Basil and Olive Oil. Pizza simple and delicious And an amazing Italian Tuna Salad Sandwich (Tuna salad Lemon, Olive Oil, Tomato & Arugula served on Focaccia Bread). We waited about half an hour for a table, they don't have an adequate waiting area. The service was very nice, quick and friendly. They do serve liquor, my martini was good. I had a great lunch there on Sunday 6/29/22 on their outside porch. The sun was shining, there was a nice breeze, superb service from our waitress MARISSA. I am a huge Anthony's fan. I was one of the first servers at this location when the store opened in the early 2010s. What makes the food so good is the simplicity of the food and the quality of the ingredients. I know how it was made because I worked there, and was very proud. Wings and salad have always been my favorite, but everything is so good (best meatballs in the world). I was happy to order takeout tonight from my old place, as I was in the area. I ordered eggplant marino for my husband, the Italian salad with Gorgonzola, and wings. The garlic Parmesan wings are new to me, so I tried them along with the original. When I got it home, I was disgusted. First, the wings lacked the pop of flavor they used to have. Dead flavor. And they now got served in a puddle of dreck. What is this? It looks like S.O.S. The focaccia was dry and salty. The salad dressing is what made the salad so good. Olive oil, red wine vinegar, garlic, and seasoning. This dressing was nothing. Tasteless. My husband said he thought it was in his mind, but the eggplant marino and the salad tasted wrong. I'm so very sad that this has happened to my Anthony's. First let me start off by saying the white pizza is absolutely amazing and perfect for somebody like me who has problems with tomato-based sauces. The pizza was great, but the real hero here has to be there meatballs! Wow, Who would've thought that a pizza joint would have amazing meatballs, I'm not kidding they are delicious. Nice place to get a decent meal. We had the cauliflower pizza, wings, and meatballs in our group of 5. The food came out randomly, and the server forgot the wings. The pizza was okay, not traditional. It wasn't bad but I was not a fan. A little sauce would help it. The meatballs were good, and the sauce they were in was great. However, I don't think they make the meatballs there. They tasted frozen. The wings were the best part. Very well done, and tasty. They were worth the wait. Besides food, they have a full bar and lots of tv screens. Definitely a great place to go hang out if you are watching a game. They say that sex and pizza are alike in that even when it's bad -- it's good. Yeah, this is totally incorrect. There's the floppy garbage you eat when you're drunk and just don't care what you eat as long as it's made of carbs and then, there's transcendental, fire-kissed pies with real ingredients that would make a Neapolitan weep with happiness. I think we all know which category Anthony's falls into. If you think Domino's makes a good pie -- just stop right now. Seriously, put down the artery-clogging stodge and try something better. Usually, I'm not a fan of thin-crust pies. Primarily because my experience with them has been less pizza and more pizza ingredients on matzoh but Anthony's has the consistency down to an art form - not too thick, not too thin and all delicious. Their plain pie is great -- an even balance of mozzarella and good sauce that actually tastes of tomatoes -- but their specialty pies are worth seeking out. Their fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil pie is a great take on the Caprese salad but the best thing on the menu has to be the Eggplant Marino pizza. And no, I'm not just saying that because I'm a Dolphins fan and would eat an old shoe if Dan Marino's name was on it. It's a really good pizza -- the best qualities of eggplant parmesan and pizza without the heaviness of the former dish. Sprinkle a little crushed red pepper on that thing and we're talking pizza perfection. And I should know. I've been fueled by pizza since childhood. Although I've never eaten them myself, I've heard nothing but raves about the chicken wings. These aren't your fifty cent wings laden with tangy Buffalo sauce. These are coal-roasted with herbs and served underneath a heap of butter-soft caramelized onions. The pies are definitely Main Line (a large specialty pie will run you approximately $20) but good food is worth good money and at Anthony's, you're definitely eating well. read more

On a cold Saturday night, the stars shining through the chilly air, we were ordering a take-out pizza, something to warm a night in anticipation of a subsequent movie at home. We were warned of a 45 minute wait for pick-up, and the pizza was hot and timely turned over to us as soon as the identifying name was revealed on the 45th minute. The pizza, a large, with caramelized onions (perfectly done), mushrooms (seemed like canned) and calamata olives (as good as can be expected), on a thin crust (crust expected to be more crispier), however getting steamed in it's own heat in the box may have made it more soft, was above average. I will try to order and eat in house next time to give a fair evaluation. The staff was very courteous, the check-out process swift, the energy of the restaurant as we strolled in and out in a few minutes was effervescent. Hot damn, the pizza at this place is off the chain. Ambiance: 3.5 out of 5 Anthony's has a casual sports bar-like atmosphere with a seating area and of course a bar, and a couple of TVs. No matter what time of day you go, it seems a little dark in there. In addition, the seating could be a slightly more comfortable. On the positive side, the coal pizza oven is part of a open kitchen, which you can see from the dining area--pretty cool. The restrooms are set back from the rest of the restaurant and are very nice. Meatball and Ricotta Pizza: 4.5 out of 5 Eccellente! This pizza combines the best offerings: meatballs, fresh ricotta, and perfecly-cooked pizza crust; into one dish. You'll get a cheese pizza topped with freshly-made mini meatballs and creamy ricotta. The meatballs here are the softest, juiciest, moistest meatballs with delicious flavor. The meat is also ground more finely than standard meatballs. (Once you try them, every other restaurant meatball will seem tougher, overcooked, and less fresh in comparison.) The ricotta is fresh, soft, finely-processed, and mousse-like. Combine the delicious meatballs and ricotta on top of a delicious pizza, and you have one of the best pies on the Main Line. I should also note that adding caramelized onions and/or sauteed mushrooms to this pizza is/are great choices. The only reason for the 4.5 rating, versus 5, is because I like slightly sweeter sauce on my pizza, but this is a matter of personal preference. I've lived in Wayne on and off for the past 16 years and - chain or not - I think this is easily the best pizza Wayne has ever had. The flavor from the coal-fired oven is phenomenal. I'm usually a big crust person and I actually don't love Anthony's because I think it could be a little thinner. But excellent sauce and high-quality cheese (plus I really can't overstate the difference the coal oven makes!) make this pizza. You know it's a good pizza with great sauce when *I* am happy with a large, plain pie. I am usually a white pizza enthusiast because I think that pizza sauce is so hit or miss: when it's good it's good but when it's bad it's bad. This sauce is *very* good - but I do also love that they offer broccoli raab as a pizza topping - broccoli raab on a white pizza is my absolute favorite - YUM! I should mention that Anthony's is pretty pricey (about $18 for a large plain pie after tax). We've also never eaten here and I'm not sure that I would being that it's in a totally 'blah' shopping center and whenever I pick-up our takeout order, I always feel like I'm getting a lot of attitude from the staff (that's the Main Line for ya...) - plus, it's SUPER noisy. But if you're in the Wayne area and looking for a carry out pie, I cannot recommend this place highly enough. read more

After two failed attempts to eat dinner at more upscale establishments in a nearby town, my friend, his girlfriend, and I headed into Wayne to enjoy some wings, pizza, and brews. Anthony's is located in a strip mall along Lancaster Ave. There's plenty of parking available for the restaurant and other adjoining shops. We go in for dinner around 8:00 and are told there's only about a 15-minute wait (thank goodness!) but since there are just three of us, we opt to sit at the bar. The bartender takes our order right away and tells us about what is on draft. As of this posting, there were ~10 drafts to pick from. With it being fall, I enjoyed a tasty pumpkin wheat from Time Traveller Brewing. I could definitely pick up all the pumpkin spices in the drink. We ordered a small (10-piece) order of the coal-oven roasted chicken wings. The wings were meaty and a mix of drums and whatever you call the non-drums. :) They came out with a nice-sized heap of caramelized onions and a couple smallish pieces of focaccia bread (it would be plenty for two). The wings were delicious and filling. We also ordered two small pizzas for the three of us and had plenty of leftovers. My friend's girlfriend suggested the Philly cheesesteak and added on roasted red peppers--do that. I selected the meatball and ricotta. Both pizzas were nicely crisped from the coal oven and had sufficient toppings. I preferred the meatball, but I thought the Philly cheesesteak tasted better the next day. This would be a nice location for a date or meeting with a group of friends. The menu is not as large as you might find at other pizza places, but the quality is good and the restaurant has a somewhat upscale (yet relaxed) atmosphere. The service here was pretty lame. I ordered take out for one person, which I said to the waitress when I came in. I ordered just a salad and a pizza. Somehow the waitress heard "Large Salad", which is for a family, then a small pizza. When the bill was $35 I asked for details on the receipt, only to see they charged me for the large salad. OK, mistakes happen. She called over the manager who was a gruff guy who didn't even look at me or talk to me, just handed me a new receipt to sign. When I asked if the first charge had been canceled, he was condecending and said, "Um, yes, isn't that what you wanted?" Just wanted to check since he hadn't even LOOKED at me! As for the food, nothing special but nothing terrible. Pizza was decent, but the crust was over cooked and flat. The salad was very bland, with watery dressing. The pizza here is good, but the chicken wings which are roasted in the coal fired oven are great. They are italian style and come with caramelized onions and several slices of focaccia bread. The small size is a nice size portion. I also really enjoyed the pork ribs with vinegar peppers. I never had ribs made this way and some may find them spicy but they had just the right amount of tang for me. Save your money. What a fraud. This place is typical of Main Line restaurants who take in a clientele who think that this is the place that they ought to be. The clientele are not guiltless. They are Main Line folks who think that places with a noisy ambiance and bar TV visuals are chic. Well, first off, the service was abysmal. OK, our server was new. But could she not have written our order correctly? How difficult is it to write one pizza with sausage and one with mozarella? Clearly a problem for our server. But she was not alone. Twice, our table was presented with things we had not ordered. Then, at long and I mean long, length our two pizzas arrived. Well - If you have ever had a true Neapolitan pizza you know that the pizza is a bit irregular round and that the crust bubbles. These pizzas looked and tasted like they came from grocery store frozen pizza boxes. I was reminded of old time Elio's Pizza. The further outrage is what they charge. Notice. On the website they do not note the price. But these pizzas run around $17/18. For what? Any local pizza joint in Ardmore will deliver a better pizza at half the price. I have to say, I had major reservations when my husband pulled up to Anthony's, which is a chain restaurant, at a strip mall! In my mind, this was all the trappings of a very disappointing experience. I will admit that I was quickly proven wrong. It was Saturday night and we had been running errands all day. The place was packed (and not just with college students!) so I knew this place had to be somewhat decent. The interior houses a huge dark wooden cabinets behind a long granite bar, which seemed a bit out of place, amongst the random pictures of Dan Marino and The Rock,(I'm sure there is some back story that I'm missing) which are arranged precariously around the multiple flat screen tvs created an odd atmosphere. A bit of an identity crisis in my opinion, but hey I'm here for good food so never mind that my brain couldn't make the connection. We had to wait 20 minutes, once seated, the sample? I'm in! They were lightly tossed in olive oil, a little garlic, and rosemary, caramelized onions and focaccia bread, with a very smoky flavor. They were the best wings I've ever had! The menu isn't extensive as the average pizza joint and the waitress endorsed the thin crust pizza, cooked in their 800 degree stone oven, the same way they make it in Italy! We opted for the traditional pizza with half pepperoni and half arugula. I have to say, the pizza was divine!! I've had to endure lots of pizza in my life, but this was something special, almost the same kind of slice we had when we were trekking through the streets of Roma, which just a tad bit more flavor. I've heard "they taste like Italian Pizzas' more than I care to mention, but there was some truth to this statement here. Don't be fooled, by the location and the décor of this place, the food and service are wonderful. The crowds of patrons are a testament to that!
