I feel pretty bad about leaving this two star review, but it's unavoidable and I do hope that the chef's take it as an opportunity to improve their food because they are sitting on the potential to have a really wonderful restaurant. The location is incredible! We sat outside on the patio, we watched to the sun set, listened to the rigging from the boats, watched birds begin their journey south and enjoyed a late summer evening outside. Our waiter was friendly and attentive without being over the top. It all started off so great! Our appetizers were actually pretty good too! We ordered the clam chowder which wasn't a gloppy mess- as so often happens this far from New England. We also ordered the tempura beans which were delicious! Unfortunately, the entres were a total miss. Now- there is always the possibility that we just ordered poorly, but realistically, everything you have on your menu should be a dish you are proud of and have worked to make as delicious as possible. We ordered the fish and chips and a salmon salad. These are not super complex recipes to begin with, and I have to assume they dish out a lot of them. The french fries were so salty they were inedible. We eat a really high sodium diet and can handle our salt, but this was more than we could handle. We had to individually wipe each french fry off with a napkin and then soak it in ketchup to even stomach the few we got down. The fish was a mess. We "upgraded" to four pieces of fish and as you can see in the picture, each piece of fish was about the size of a chicken nugget. They oozed grease when you bit into them. The salmon salad wasn't any better. I ordered my salmon medium-rare, which to their credit they tried to achieve. It was such a thin fillet of salmon though that there was no salvaging about 70% of it. The salad came drenched in a sweet dressing with over-ripe peaches that added to the cloying sweetness and was a mushy mess. They use chopped romaine which I hardly give an edge to over ice berg. It was just really unappealing. I'd come back and order drinks and maybe an app on the water but I would be hard pressed to eat there again unless they made pretty significant changes to their cooking style. read more

Th clam chowder was terrible! The only reason I gave them 2 stars is because our waitress was very nice. But it was embarrassing! I had a guest from San Diego and I was talking about the great clam chowder in the area. I expected Anthony's to have good clam chowder. Instead it was the worst I've ever eaten. Just tried Anthony's in Olympia after a few years of not going there. The setting is still wonderful, looking out over the water, comfy seats, great service! People had Lingcod, coconut prawns and steamed mussels. I bit sad, really. Not as flavorful as I remembered - any of the dishes! Prawns were skinny, mussels pretty shriveled and small and one completely rotten inside the shell, Lingcod had a pretty presentation, but extremely bland (it is mild and needed a sauce with another flavor dimension - we dumped the prawn sauce on it!). I was looking for brighter with blended and more complex flavors somewhere in the dishes. Kinda just blah. The dessert, berry shortcake with Chantilly cream, was the best part. We will go again, but just for dessert! read more

The crab cakes were over cooked, kinda had that burnt smell to them-- I scooped out the crab from the interior. Still good, but an error. The steak was good, the salad was even good. In conversation with the server, it became clear that many of the folks there are new or newer servers. There was indeed a quite amusing mixup even this past time, but it was two confused people..... anyway, I'll give it two and put down the earlier foible to a new server. The seafood fettuccine was tasteless. The Caesar salads was watered down and bland. Sadly this restaurant is not the same. Nice digs! I am new to PNW and have recently discovered Anthony's. At this point, it is my go to for a nice, romantic, make the partner feel special type of place. Yep, you will be dropping some money but if you're anything like me, you'll be walking away satisfied and looking forward to the next excursion to the seaside culinary hug for the pallet. I found the service to be top-notch, the facility to be incredibly clean and well cared for, and the food to be worth the price. As always, the fifth star is reserved for consistency. We ordered fish and it was overcooked and dry and then smothered in sauce that didn't balance the flavors of savory, sweet and citrus. Vegetables were boiled to mush. So disappointing. This has been one of our family's favorite go to's since I was a kid. Some of the most beautiful views in the bay. Typically very good service and food is always high quality. Prices are a little high, and yes, I know costs are rising but over 30 for halibut n chips is a little painful. Try their clam chowder. It's the best I've ever tried. I love Anthony's restaurants and was so excited to discover there was one in Olympia just where I was going to be. Their seafood is fresh, usually not farmed and so, so good. With the 5 stars, you can tell I wasn't disappointed. I was there with friends. We sat outside with a beautiful view of the marina and gorgeous flowers. Everything was perfect even the weather. We were there for their sunset dinner specials which included appetizer, salad or soup, entree and dessert. What a deal!! The biggest decision was whether to go for the special and order the shrimp and salmon or get the lingcod with berry sauce ..... (which is my favorite dish in the whole wide world!) Okay, I opted for the salmon and my friends both went with the oysters. Everything was delicious from the appetizers, clam chowder and everything else. Service was perfect and we were three happy women! Now I'm planning a trip back for the lingcod and can hardly wait. read more

I told my wife I was going to give this a 4 star last night, but I just cant. I didnt have any issues and the service was great, but I cant give 4 stars to a place that is this expensive. I just will never be able to wrap my head around fish and chips at $21 for 3 fish sticks. I will upload the picture later and the size is pretty good, but the price is just too much. They have some ok priced stuff, but fish and chips and crab cakes are crazy out of control. The food was pretty good. I think the fries were nice and well seasoned, the salad was good, the bread was really good, and the fish was pretty good. There were some soggy spots on the fish, but nothing crazy. The issue is there is a fish in chips spot in Seattle that is easily one of the best I have ever had and its half the price. Plus they have salmon chowder. Anthony's is not offensive, but its overpriced. Its not bad and it looks good, but its just not worth the cost of entry for me. read more

Stopped in for an early dinner before Christmas shopping. The inside of the restaurant was nice and clean with great views of the water. All of the employees were super friendly and we were seated pretty quickly. We had Brittny as our server and she was phenomenal! We both ordered off of their sunset menu which had prefixed meal sets with great pricing. I had the clam chowder, roasted garlic prawns, and chocolate mousse with a glass of sparkling wine. My guest had the Caesar salad, oysters on the half shell, salmon, and chocolate mousse. The clam chowder was perfect, not too thick and not too thin, just the right consistency and flavor. The Caesar salad came fresh and crisp, and the croutons looked homemade versus out of a bag. The oysters on the half shell were good. The only thing I would say is that the shell itself could've used a little more cleaning otherwise they were fine. The roasted garlic prawns were cleaned well and perfectly butterflied. They were well seasoned and the garlic wasn't overpowering. It paired well with the rice pilaf and seasonal vegetables. The salmon was outstanding! It's hard to get well prepared salmon out and I was shocked to find that it was not over cooked or dry. It was moist, melt in your mouth, perfect! The best of the night was the chocolate mousse! Hands down exceptional. Light and airy, chocolatey, and not too sweet. I've never had a dessert that good and I would go back just for that! Overall it was an enjoyable meal! While the location of Anthony's is inviting, you can't eat it! If you're looking for a spot to enjoy the waterfront, particularly at sunset, do go there, but eat elsewhere. The special menu selections all seemed to be whatever didn't sell the previous day ... Basically dried, tasteless entrees. Trying to have a conversation over the order call-outs emanating from the kitchen is somewhat daunting. The best news of our (Group of 12) was our server, Aaron. We had a really great lunch here a couple weeks ago when my sister was in town visiting. We were on the prowl for some local seafood with a view and happened by this restaurant right on the water, seemed meant to be! We stopped in on a Sunday a little after the lunch rush and were promptly greeted by a smiling hostess. I had called this place a couple weeks back when perusing for gluten free restaurants in the area and discovered that they have an entire gf dedicated menu...mmm mm gimme da seafood. We settled into a nice comfy booth and started to marvel at the restaurant atmosphere. High ceilings with a large open concept dining area and floor to ceiling bay windows facing the water give this place an upscale feeling. The view from most tables and booths is really fantastic and we indulged in the calming effects of the water and boats swaying outside. Our server was fantastic. Really upbeat and pleasant. We inquired about a few things on the menu and she was able to get us some answers from the kitchen in no time. We had the mussels appetizer, the chop chop seafood salad, and the scallops with gremolata and rice. The mussels were delicious with a fantastic broth. The seafood salad had a pretty good amount of seafood on it and a dressing that kept my sister diving back in for more. The scallops were a little over done but still very delicious and the rice was especially exciting with slivered almonds and golden raisins packing a burst of flavor in every bite. One star for ease of ordering, prompt pickup of hot food. One star for the salad dressing and the bread. That's it. Disappointing. We ordered garlic prawn scampi, clam chowder, blue cheese salad with shrimp, fish and chips and a drink. With a 20% tip it came to $98. Anthony's is priced higher than other seafood joints around the Puget Sound region as they have premium waterfront locations and fine dining service. I'm fine with that price for a nice seafood dinner for two- but not for this. As a curbside pickup during COVID this was way overpriced for the quality of the food. The gal that ran the food out was very nice. Most disappointing was the shrimp scampi, which was billed as sautéed in garlic and butter. The usual style. The shrimp were so dry and flavorless we were wondering if we'd acquired COVID and lost our sense of smell. Not a hint of garlic. Not butter. The 'award winning chowder - I can see why people like it - it's sweet with a bit of dill and hint of vermouth, but those flavors overwhelm what might be a taste of clams in there somewhere? I'm from New England, I'm highly opinionated about chowda, I can understand that others might like this and even give it an award. I wouldn't and won't order it again. The blue cheese dressing on the salad was delicious and confirmed that yes, we still have a good sense of taste and smell. The bread was fresh and warm, moist and chewy on the inside with slightly crunch crust. Perhaps the best part of the meal. The fish and chips were completely adequate and reasonable at $18 for three pieces with ok fries. Not significantly better than any other fish and chips place, but not significantly overpriced either. When the food doesn't come packaged in a fine dining room with a view of the water perhaps the standards should go up, not down. Anthony's is eroding their brand equity here, and I'm sorry as they're a Northwest institution somewhat like Legal Seafoods is in the East Coast. read more

We were not looking only to have a nice meal but also a nice experience when we chose Anthony's Restaurant for dinner while traveling through the area. We were very fortunate to be seated immediately upon arriving. the hostess asked us if the booth she chose for us was okay which is always nice verses just getting dropped off, our server greeted us shortly after we were seated as promised by the hostess providing the dinner menus and offering up a number of drinks options. She went over the daily specials and seafood selections while setting our drinks in front of us - I always try to get my fill of dungeon crab when visiting the northwest and the roasted dungeon crab appetizer seemed appealing but a little messy and after getting a description and recommendation from our server the decision to order it was easy - it arrived accompanied with a few plastic bibs and a set of knuckle crackers, the meat was so succulent but honestly if you decide to try them this way they are a challenge, each piece is coated in garlic and butter making these suckers slippery but oh so worth it, I don't know if there is a more tasty crustacean on earth than the dungeon crab. We also ordered the choice Double R Ranch Sirloin and Prawns and Blackened Halibut with a pineapple chutney for our entree's, the steak was impressive I am not one to order many sirloin steaks but I must admit if this is the standard I'm a fan very lean, juicy and melt in your mouth tender. The prawns were fire roasted, perfectly cooked, tender and the slightly charred exterior brought out the slight sweetness of the meat, pairing these two is genius. I also was equally impressed with the blackened halibut although I prefer my fish prepared a little translucent this delicate fish was prepared exactly as it was ordered so I'm not complaining I was just happy to have shared this very generous portion. This is very nice restaurant the windows along the back wall gives this place a warm ambiance, especially if you're able to be seated before sunset. The staff here is pretty exceptional as well, all our interactions were pleasant and very professional except our server of course she was so fun and her attentive nature made our experience here fun and enjoyable from the moment we met her. As she delivered the second (or third) round of cocktails we explored the desserts, it seems the celebration of the peach was in bloom here so we chose to share one of the Chef's creations "the peach slump'' a warm cobbler served with creamy vanilla ice cream I had no idea you could find this anywhere other than the southeastern states, after one bite I was convinced the chef has ties to someone with a southern accent. Overall this restaurant exceeded our expectations on every level, all the dishes were fresh and of high quality and the price were very reasonable. SHAMEFUL I would give a minus star if there is a possibility. I was there yesterday, and this is my first time to be in Anthony's Restaurant, I ordered Oregon Shrimp Fettuccine, and after eating half of the dish I found a bug inside . I told the waitress, and she said I will tell the manger, then she returned and said we apologise this will never happen again. I didn't create a problem because I had a long day, however, I should, and the shock makes me forget to take a picture of the big bug inside the dish, so I left and my stomach was upset the whole day until midnight. First of all, the manager should have come to apologise not the waitress because this is an unforgivable mistake for a big pricey restaurant like Anthony's. I have never had an experience like that even in any one star restaurant that I have ever been to. read more

Went to this location at 5 p.m. to celebrate four different birthdays. We thought we had reservations, but they couldn't find them. However the front desk staff was very helpful and arranged for a table for our group of 6. Our drink orders were quickly taken and some really nice bread and butter arrived at our table. After enough time to study the menu, we had our orders taken. Everyone ordered something different. As a side note, really wish they would have a ribeye steak on the menu! I ordered the surf and turf (steak and calamari), my daughter ordered the Steak (she is 100% carnivore), my son order the Sockeye (the best of the salmon in my humble opinion), also had some King Salmon ordered and a couple other items I don't remember. Food was delivered in no time. Serving sizes were perfect. Food was excellent to the last bite. Of course, we all had desserts. I had the Cobbler (with Ice Cream). All and all a really nice place. Ever since I introduced my mom to the concept of happy hour, that's all she's been wanting to do when we get the chance to hang out. The last time I visited her in Olympia, my mom wanted to do happy hour at Anthony's, where the appetizers were $5. We split between the two of us some oyster shooters, ahi nachos, clams. Overall it was alright but I was not a fan of the ahi nachos. The fish didn't seem fresh to me. I recommend sitting near a window since the place is pretty dim. read more

Our family of five went to eat at Anthony's today. Unfortunately, with only 5-6 tables occupied, they were unable/unwilling to seat us for 15-20 minutes. We ended up going elsewhere. We've eaten at both locations and the food has been delicious. However, the staff has always been "quirky", during our last visit they asked us to change tables after we'd been there for a couple of drinks because another party had requested our table. Wow, just wow! We had our wedding here in the Bay Room on 3/25/2023. Kyle was our coordinator and Dollie was our server for a group of 26. Such good food, amazing service and over the top all around helpful. There is always wedding drama and Kyle helped me circumvent that with a last minute table and seating setup. Never anything from anyone but positivity and I REALLY needed that. I am so appreciative of all their help. I thought a restaurant was an odd place to have a wedding. I had ordered a carry-out for my team. I had ordered the Mahi Mahi Tacos and asked them to customize it because I am vegetarian. They had replaced the fish with veggies. I had received 3 tacos and had reordered again a couple of months later. I had also ordered a cake and was not disappointed. We had ordered for 8 people and they had made them in a reasonable time.
