I am reviewing based solely on picking up pizza for take out. Love it! The crust has just the right char and chew. It's a crust on the thinner side that holds up well. Not soggy! While the toppings are generous, they are applied with a light hand so they don't weigh the pie down. No grease dripping down your arm! We are new to Torrington and have picked up twice and it looks like there is consistency in quality. We look forward to dining in soon and expanding our Anthony's experience. read more

Dingy, extremely overpriced, run down plain place with awful service. This was like an experience from hell. I was with my gf and another couple. We were in the area driving around at dinner time. This place makes itself very noticeable with bright lights on a main street (literally). My friend in the car said "let's try that place". I'd been there before and thought it was a bad pick. But I said ok. So i went in to get a table and ask where (if anywhere) there was a place to park. It had been pretty much empty the previous times I'd been there. This is a small dingy place with maybe 8 tables. Very surprisingly, maybe bc it's Christmas and dowtown, all the tables but the one big one were full. So, I walked to what I guess was the hostess station. One employee was standing there frantically typing and looking very overwhelmed. No greeting. So i said "hello". She snapped at me in a nasty tone, "It's gonna be a wait". So I said ok, and was looking around for where we could wait (i hadn't even gotten to the parking problem yet) Then i asked, "how long do you think?" She answered (in that same rude tone) "I don't know. But I'm really busy now and I can't talk" I normally would have walked out right there (if not before then) but i had a carload of hungry people in the car outside waiting for me to message them where to park. So i waited for her to finish her typing (which went on and on) so I could get the parking and table arranged. Then she suddenly stopped her typing and said, again in that rude voice, "You can't wait there" Well, as you could imagine, I was getting very unhappy (putting it mildly) by this point. By the way, another thing this place doesn't have is a bar or any kind of waiting area. So I commented on the extremely rude service and said, "I don't see a waiting area . Where are people supposed to wait when you say 'it's gonna be a wait??!" She answered, rude as could be, "You can't wait there. I'm busy. I can't talk". She talks also in a very loud crude voice. This place has serious problems going on. At that point, I'd seen and heard enough (way more than enough actually) I wouldn't have even trusted eating at that place by then even if they suddenly said that a table opened up. So i said something like "something's wrong with you people" and left. Not to wait outside of course ( they didn't even have a system to notify people waiting that a table was ready, but they want people to wait, but they have no place to wait, so there's no way for a customer to know a table is ready, even if he decides to wait), but to find another place for us all to eat, which we did, in another part of Torrington, and it was great. read more

This restaurant was probably one of the worst places I have had dinner at. The food service was terrible and the food was very greasy. The building is very crowded and very hard to fit big amounts of people. The restaurants refused to make separate checks and we were forced to take about 10-20 minutes to pay for all of our meals. Although there were many downsides to this establishment the waitresses were very nice and they served very good cake. read more

When we went I think we were the only people there so the service was good. We ordered a pizza with onion and sausage. There was nothing special about it. The crust was thin and crispy which I like. Looking at the menu, the entrees are a bit pricy for the restaurant but the pizza seemed decent price. I won't go out of my way to go back. read more

Anthony's is a mainstay of the very limited Torrington restaurant scene. Their pizzas are nice. Their Italian dishes are tasty. The major problem I've always had with Anthony's revolves around their salads. Oh. not the quality. The quantity. They charge upwards of $10 for a rather mundane salad. Fresh, yes, but ordinary, and all too skimpy. My friends, lettuce is dirt cheap. For heaven's sake, put a little in the bowl! I've actually stopped going there because I was tired of paying those inflated prices for such a very substandard salad. Perhaps they'll listen this time??? There's always hope! read more

Don't let the decor fool you, the food here is worth every penny. I have been eating here since I was a little kid and when you say "Anthony's" my mouth starts watering. The pizza is good, but I go there for the entrees. I have my favorites and I am never disappointed when I try something new. The best things on the menu: 1. Fried Calamari - I have never eaten fried calamari that compares. I just love it. I have come once or twice and it was overcooked and it was still better than anywhere else. My family actually qualifies real love as when you are willing to give that person the last piece of calamari at Anthony's. 2. Veal Piccata - this dish is simple and perfect. A couple medallions of veal with a couple pieces of broccoli in a lemon butter sauce. I have actually dreamed about it. I literally wipe the plate clean. 3. Linguini with Red Clam Sauce - great sauce, tons of clams and enough for the next day. I know a lot of people say that the location and ambiance call for cheaper prices, but this food is quality. I love the fact that I can wear jeans and eat an amazing Italian meal. read more

My favorite pizza anywhere. Maybe it's because it reminds me of my childhood - Saturday night pizza at Anthony's, then Dairy Queen - but it still makes me happy. I always get pizza, but other people seem to like the other food. And the bread is SO good (ask for a cup of marinara sauce to dip it in). Plus, Tony sometimes comes by our table to say hi before going back to the kitchen to make our food. So homey, so yummy. read more

It was my B-day Oct. 21 2012. I have been home bound for over a year and after surgery I could finally walk. My son asked me where I wanted to go and I said Anthonys. Always had good food there in the past. We got there at 1pm on a Sunday.The place was empty, but for the three of us. No one else came in while we were there. I ordered the special of clams with baby shrimp over pasta. It was $22. I picked out the shells from the tasty clams. The shrimp were smaller than my pinky nail, From a can! I had to keep spitting it out into a bowl because of the tiny clam shells in every bite. It was like someone put a 1/2 cup of chrushed glass in my food. I complained to the waitress. She was sorry and went to the chef. She came back and told me the Chef says: "You have to expect shells when you order clams. He will make you another entree but you will have to pay for it and will still be charged for the first one." Good thing we ordered garlic bread because I only swallowed less then a half of cup of food. I felt sad, because it was the first time I had been out to dinner in over 2 years. My go to for a grinder or a quick slice. I once ordered a turkey grinder for take out, when I got home it looked like ham. No big deal, except I don't eat pork. I called them and they assured me it was turkey, but said they would gladly make me a new sandwich. I've been going to Anthony's since I was a little kid. Thankfully, not much has changed. The pizza is classic and always hits the spot. Portions are HUGE so bring your appetite. We have been dining at Anthony's for over 20 years which is a 50 mile roundtrip from home. The worst service ever.. Ordered our drinks which consisted of 2 glasses of wine and a beer.. 10 minutes later the waitress came to take our order and still didn't have our drinks.. We waited about 40 minutes and still no food .. Never saw our waitress that whole time..we did have a show to be at so we asked another waitress if she could check on our order and was told about 3 minutes.. We asked that they wrap it to go and asked for our bill.. 5 minutes later our waitress came with our food and bill staying we still have time.. Do we have somewhere to be or something? This isn't fast food.. We are busy.. I stated the 45 minutes for 2 pasta dishes and chicken is ridiculous and she proceeded to say "oh my godddd I am not discussing this with you" and walked away. We had to pay with the hostess and she said I'm sorry but she's from Italy.. Um ok? Anyway will never go there again .. Overpriced as it is.. First time ever there, Place was dark, smelled and gross. Went to take my first bite of food and there was hair it. The waitress yells out thats gross and everyone around us looks up. Trying to be quiet I asked her to just take it. She said she was sorry offered me another dish which I had just lost my appetite. I assume it it was the owners wife that came out to make matters worse to tell me it was a blond hair and not dark hair and wants to let me know no one that works there has blond hair. brought my mother in law (90 years old ) out for lunch , she hadn't been there in years, we parked right out front and walked 10 steps to the front door . She loved the pasta with meatballs and the bread was delicious, home made. I order a small pizza with cheese and pepperoni , loved it. very nice family business. The restaurant was clean and there were several people coming in and out to pick up orders, the people in Torrington are very friendly . We had a nice time . We will definitely go again read more
