The food quality is pretty good, good job Anthony whoever you are haha. The only thing I didn't care for was the tomato sauce a bit bland for me but overall good taste to all food. The service of the waiter wasn't like "AMAZING" but it wasn't bad either, nice to know the restaurant offers a complimentary meatball and wing for first time guests, so make sure to ask! I've heard decent things about this place. So we went on a Wednesday evening and it wasn't busy. We asked to be seated outside since it was nice outside. After we were seated, it took 10 minutes for someone to even greet us and take our drink order. When they finally did, we ordered the meatballs since we've heard so much about them. What a shock, 2 small meatballs with a very over-acidic sour-tasting red sauce and two pieces of bread for $10?! That was crazy. I would have expected 2 large meatballs at the very least. And then to top it off, they were lukewarm. Not hot at all. We asked for new hot ones and when they came out again... even less warm. The server kept bringing us dirty filthy plates. We asked another server for new plates and got an attitude. When we asked to speak to the management we were told he's too busy cooking in kitchen. We left and didn't eat a thing. This is not at all a good look on this establishment. I can easily say this place absolutely did not live up to the hype at all. What a bummer. We have been patrons of this restaurant since it opened. Recently I feel the service has been lacking. We arrived on Friday July 3rd about 15 minutes before 7pm and sat at the bar. Our usual spot. Karli was the bartender and is usually great. This night there was a party of 25 coming in at 7pm - we were advised of this. We ordered our food at 6:50. At 7:25pm our order of meatballs (4) and pizza were still not served. I asked another wait staff to check on our order. That is when we were told they ran out of meatballs and were making more!!! Karli and another girl were waiting on the table of 25 ppl. We had to ask for more wine. It was not a great experience. Extremely disappointed in the total amount of our check. The wine is extremely expensive by the glass. Karli did take the meatballs off our bill but to wait 40 minutes for food is too long. Perhaps not enough wait staff? Not sure but was definitely NOT the service we have come to expect. We will take a break from visiting this restaurant. Hopefully the service is back to serving the patrons they have or they may never be back. read more

I received my food first. I sat there waiting, 15 min., for the others to be served. Finally I told another server to take my food back to reheat. Another 10 min went by and another rec'd her food and mine was still in the back. After 8 min. my food came out and about 8 min later the third person got her food. Service is always excellent. For years it was my favorite pizza in the area. Tonight, it wasn't great. The crust for the first time ever was tough,, like it had been over worked. It did seem to be cooked more than usual. Honestly, it was nothing to write home about. First time that I wasn't ecstatic over it. Hope it was just on "off" night. I will give it 1 more try. Oh man, this place. The meatball & ricotta pizza is so good and that salad with the cheese and dressing... fantastic. Only negative is the price; $25-$30 is quite steep for a pizza, even if it is "specialty". Tough to come here often if you're feeding your family, but for a date night it's great. This experience wasn't stellar. Our server was miserable; clearly annoyed she had to come out from behind bar to serve us outside. We tried being super sappy nice, cracked jokes, but couldn't turn tide. As we finished meal a different miserable woman comes outside & starts collecting pizza stands like she been asked to dig graves. Anyone can have a bad day- when more than 1 person, it's a theme. The theme, "we don't want your business." Never understand when businesses are annoyed they have business. Same as when service industry complains about tips & delivers horrible service. We waited 20 mins. for water. My mixed drink never came, wife's came half hour after we sat down. They gave us plasticware instead of silverware. I guess they weren't cleaning silverware. The pizza left my fingers black like I was working on a truck or car. Which tells me they are not cleaning the ovens during the cooking hours. At one point there were no employees on the floor. I recently relocated to Berks County, PA and wanted to find a good place to get some wings. After searching local spots via Yelp & Google, I decided to give Anthony's coal fired pizza & wings at try. I'm happy to say that they have lived up to the hype! I purchased the 20-piece dry rub wings with the side of blue cheese to go and it was worth every penny. Even after the 15 minute trip back home the wings remained warm, juicy, well-cooked (had a concern based off of a previous review), and evenly favored with the dry rub. The blue cheese dipping sauce were a little light on the portion size but the dry rub favor was good enough that I didn't need much sauce. Staff: I only interacted with the staff for a brief moment but they were very attentive, polite, and professional. The overall ambience of the restaurant looked good and I look forward to coming back with my family in the near future. Unfortunately, my eyes were bigger than my stomach and I was only able to eat 7 wings but I look forward to enjoying these over the next two days. This is to see if they live up to places like Grimaldi's, John's in NYC and Regina's in Boston. Does Anthony's live up to those places? No, it does not. There is none of the charring one finds on a great coal-fired pizza. That said, if you go with reasonable expectations, you won't be disappointed with Anthony's. The crust is a thin one, the sauce has good flavor and the cheese portion is generous enough. We were here on a weeknight around 6 p.m. At that time of day, we were greeted and seated immediately. The people who work here are friendly. Our server was prompt and efficient plus she knew the menu very well. We were looking to have an appetizer and discovered that the menu wasn't very descriptive. For example, we saw "mozzarella salad" on the menu and wondered about it. The couple sitting in the table next to us told us that they had ordered it. The wife expected an actual salad with greens. Instead, it's 2 tomato slices topped with mozzarella and some green peppers, basically. She said she expected greens. The husband piped up and said there was "greens" in the form of green peppers. We still decided to try it anyway. It was an okay appetizer---nothing to write home about. We got a 12 inch "traditional pizza: which was a simple cheese pizza with tomato sauce. Decided to go here for dinner since it was Pi day and they had a special. Service was ok I guess due to short staff. waiter was very nice. Food came out hot and drinks were really good. The vibe was weird though. Asked another server for a box due to our server was at the bar. She said sure and never came back. She went over to oven and waited until her tables order was done and never came back with a box. When we got the bill it was way more than expected. The Pi special only accounted for one pizza which didn't make sense since I asked our server if it would apply to multiple pizzas and she said yes. The pizza was suppose to be $3.14 with a purchase of a beverage. We ordered 4 beverages. Maybe next time be more specific. The third pizza (Carnivori) which I was really looking forward to was burnt to a crisp on the bottom and crust. All you could taste was burnt dough. I get that all pizzas are made well done but our other two pizza were edible and not burnt to a crisp. Would I go back NOT A CHANCE! I WOULDN'T recommend either. 12/23/2018- So glad they had an Anthony's in Wyomissing, PA while we were visiting for the holidays. I am a fan of this chain. We sat at the bar and were greeted by a young man (wish I remembered his name). He was attentive, quick and friendly. He bartended and served with ease while still being able to hold a conversation with everyone at the bar. We ordered Troegg's Mad Elf Ale on Draft. This craft beer has hints of cherry, cinnamon and clove. Perfect for the holiday season. We paired it with their Eggplant Pizza. We ordered a medium and it was enough for both of us. We watched the Vikings vs. Packers game. Great ambience in the restaurant. The staff is great. The restaurant and facilities are clean. Will definitely be back. read more

My son and I were in town for a baseball tournament, he noticed the sign for Anthony's and asked if we could go there for dinner after the game. We got there around 5:30 and the place was buzzing with families and players from other teams playing in the same tournament. The inside was pretty much full, but there were a few available tables outside. We were seated quickly at the one remaining table inside and our waitress (I believe her name was Egypt) stopped over to let us know she would be with us in a moment. She was very busy, but seemed to be hustling. Egypt was friendly and made a few recommendations with the menu. We decided to get the meatball appetizer (based on her recommendation) and a large pepperoni pizza. The meatballs were awesome. The pizza arrived and was hot with a great crispy crust. I loved the spicy pepperoni that they used. Our waitress was attentive throughout our meal, quickly getting us drinks and anticipating our need for a box to take leftover pizza back to the hotel. We had a wonderful meal here on Friday night. Everything we had was delicious. The Caesar salad was my favorite. The croutons in it were so good, they tasted homemade! Felt the need to warn others about the terrible pizza, salad and meatballs that cost over $65 for takeout. First, the pizza was delivered 25 minutes after I ordered it and still showed up COLD. Second, there was black crust in the box that did not come from our pizza. The pizza we got wasn't burned, but it was dry like cardboard, ice cold and had no taste whatsoever. Honestly, it may have been the worst pizza we have ever eaten...and we didn't eat more than a few bites and the rest went into the trash. My salad was supposed to be family sized, but it wasn't the same size you get in the restaurant itself. Also, I paid $4 extranfor blue cheese and got maybe a table spoon with no large chunks of blue cheese. Really? $4 for that? We will never eat at Anthony's again. Unimpressed. Overpriced and over cooked food. First time trying this place. It wasn't too busy considering it was a Sunday evening. There was ample seating inside and outside. The hostess was polite and seated us promptly. Our waitress greeted us and upon informing her that we've never dined here, she let us know that a meatball and wings were available to try on the house. One large meatball was brought out on a plate smothered with red sauce and a dollop of ricotta. There were 4 wings smothered with onions. The meatball lacked flavor and the wings were over cooked. Too hard and crunchy to attempt to eat. The restaurant wasn't busy but when our waitress came to take our order, I briefly paused to decide on the 12" or 16" pizza. When I didn't give an immediate answer, the waitress said I'll give you more time and she walked away. I didn't need more time, a few seconds would have sufficed. It was awhile before she came back to our table. The Caesar salad was good but the pizza did not live up to the hype of coal fired pizza. The bottom of our pizzas were black. Too charred to ignore the burnt taste and too hard to eat the crust. Had I known it was going to be pizza you couldn't eat, I would have stuck to our usual pizza shop. When we received the take home box and check, the waitress did not hesitate to wait at the table for me to get cash out to pay for the meal. We waited long to have our order taken and made but quick to take cash. Will not be eating here again. When I work up an appetite for a different pizza place, I'll be checking out Nonna Albys. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars is because the hostess and bus boy promptly held the door open for 3 elderly customers dining in. I must say, for a pizza joint, this place has quite the selection of craft beers. The official website touts that servers are trained to be able to suggest beer pairings for each dish. Beer sommeliers at a chain pizzeria? I've got to admit, that's pretty impressive! The pizza itself has a nice, crisp crust with hot, gooey cheese. Toppings are incorporated nicely. Each pie comes out on a pizza stone to keep it warm throughout the course of the meal. As for the wings - well, they're certainly unique. There is no assortment of flavors. You just say, "I'll have the wings," and they come dusted with some Italian seasoning. But what makes them stand out is the fact that they're served with sauteed onions on top. So yeah, try to picture this. There are two pieces of flat bread on the bottom of the plate. About eight medium-sized wings are placed on top of the bread. On top of that is a layer of sauteed onions. It's garnished with parsley (no bleu cheese of ranch for dipping here!), and it comes with an enormous pair of tongs that seem just a tad gratuitous. It truly is bizarre. The tables here are WAY too close to each other. You're right on top of your neighbor, so everyone's conversation in the vicinity becomes your business, whether you like it or not. One final note - it's a record breaking winter for low temperatures. I'm not sure why one of the hostesses was propping the door open when there was nobody entering or leaving. There's nothing like trying to eat a nice, warm meal ... and subsequently being smacked in the face by a sub-zero degree arctic wind. EDIT: Ok. Love wood or coal fired pizza have it as often as I can.. although they give you ample toppings (except cheese ) your pizza will be at least 50% burnt to a crisp.
