Salem resident here-my partner and I absolutely love Antique Table, our servers and bartenders have always been awesome, with the food always on point with good portion sizes. It's definitely some of the most reasonably priced Italian in the area for it's quality as well. But above all else, I'm here to praise Joao and the Blood Orange Manhattan. It's my partner's favorite cocktail of all time, and no other place makes it better. While everything is closed down, I called on the off-chance that someone might be able to tell us how to make it at home as a quarantine pick-me-up. Joao not only gave me some basics on the ingredients (no secret recipe tips shared, don't worry!) but was also a damn delight. He even remembered us from when he sat us on Halloween! We had always planned to go back to Antique Table once it reopens fully, but he definitely earned our business as long as we live in the area. Seriously, give this guy a raise! read more

The one star was to get their attention...we didn't eat at this place. Walked in, sat down and asked about Gluten Free options (Celiac). The wicked witch (this is Salem, ya know) responded abruptly.."Nothing. Not a thing". We get that the pasta and other items aren't gluten free, but the chicken, fish, etc.... Even if they do not feel comfortable preparing meals gluten free, how about showing some sort of some empathy? We received nothing. Not a thing. We left and went to Caffe Italia in Marblehead. Last minute Sunday dinner with my daughter. It was delicious!! The food tastes Authentic. Portions are perfect. Cozy environment. If you have a larger party, call ahead. Definitely will go back. My ONLY suggestion!!!! PLEASE do NOT use scented table candles- it can feel like you're tasting the candle while you're eating and it's too small of a place for that over powering scent. Definitely our new favorite Italian. We have been 3 times and have ordered a variety of dinners and desserts. Decently priced, good portions, interesting cocktails, many vegetarian and seafood options, atmosphere was appropriate for talking with family and friends, helpful staff but not intrusive and never rushed. Favorite meals so far carbonara and the risotto. We always get a to-go cannoli which are so creamy. read more

I just finished reading some negative reviews and wonder if those people actually ate the same food that I did. We have eaten at the Antique Table in Lynn and now eat regularly at the other restaurant in Salem. The food is excellent. I too am part Italian. My mother was a fantastic cook YET the meatball appetizer at the Antique Table was the best I have ever had. Same goes for the eggplant parm that I always order. My husband has had the pizza and has had no complaints. The servers are friendly and very accommodating and efficient. As a former New Yorker who has spent decades eating Italian food in Little Italy and restaurant row in Midtown Manhattan, I think I have the authority to say that this is a fine restaurant. read more

I don't get that horrible review below. I think the author is insane or was so picky nobody could make them happy. I have eaten here 3 times and every dinner has been excellent. The staff is very pleasant; yes, there can be a 20 minute wait if you arrive at prime time, but that is because this restaurant is so good and so popular. They place excellent bread and olive oil on the table when you are seated and it is too good; I had to stop myself or I would have eaten 2 bread bowls. The are quick with drinks and water refills. The servers are very professional. There are so many options to choose from and all are excellent; I got the romaine salad and the halibut at my last visit; my fellow diner got the mussels and lobster ravioli and both were perfect. The food here is outstanding and I've gotten nothing but great service the 2 times I've been here. The decor inside is unique and very charming. Last time my boyfriend and I got the meatball appetizer, I got the chicken marsala, and he got the veal saltimbocca. All three dishes were amazing. The first time I came I got the penne vodka which was the best version of that dish I've ever had. I prefer this location to the Lynn one because parking is much easier to find. This is by far one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the area. A lot of love and attention goes into the cooking so don't expect it to come out in 15 minutes, be prepared to wait at least 30-40 and definitely order an appetizer read more

My reservation for 6:30p, party of four, was not on the maitre d's list, but was "in the system." Not to worry, table not ready yet, have a drink at the bar. 45 minutes later, no table. Apologetic, they found one for us. Food was ordered, and 50 minutes later no food or bread at the table. Again, management apologetic, stating that they were short-staffed in the kitchen. Food arrives, and my girlfriend's main course of Di Mare was cold. Apologies again. They did their best to amend, with free drinks, but a restaurant which did not return two voicemails to make the reservation, who finally answered their phone but somehow then misplaced our Saturday night confirmation, who forgot our party sitting at the bar for 45', and who could not even then deliver properly prepared food to the table after an additional 50', should close, reorganize, then try again. read more

I was a part of a group of 8 so I was able to see and taste a few of their dishes. The mussels were very good, whatever the red sauce they use is amazing. Ended up dipping my bread into sauce when I was done with the mussels. I got the filet which was a very good price for a 10oz steak. The lobster ravioli got good reviews too from friend. Over all, I would highly recommend going there. Couldn't give 5 stars because there was a bit of a delay on our food delivery and there didn't seem like there was an order to things. Oh I wanted to love this place so much! I've been to Lynn/Swampscott location in the past and I loved it there so hopes were high. Both dishes we ordered, vodka chicken pasta and lemon chicken were literally flavorless. Even the leftovers, which tend to get better with Italian, still offered nothing. I ordered the special lasagna, which was very tasty. However, it was lukewarm at best. Our waiter was personable..... at first. By the middle of our visit, he was no where to be found. Nope - solid effort, but not worth it in my opinion. We went here a few weeks ago for a friend's birthday, after hearing how good it was....but they must have been talking about one of the other Antique Table locations. First off, we were a group of 20 and they only had one server helping us. I know that many times the server prefers to be the only one on that table because then they don't need to split the tip, but they need to realize it takes forever for one person to be taking/delivering an order for such a large group! Our server was super nice and really friendly, but he really needed someone helping him. We ordered a bunch of appetizers, but I only tried two - the eggplant rollatini, which was excellent, and the grand marnier shrimp, which was good too. Before we ordered dinner, we were told they had run out of strip steaks, which a few of my friends were hoping to order, but they said they would substitute with filets. Fine. For my meal, when it finally came out after over an hour, I had the baked haddock. TERRIBLE. There was no flavor, the "cream sauce" was watery and oily, and the vegetables were wilted and flavorless. The stuffing they advertised was a spinach and lobster stuffing, but there was no spinach and only one little tiny cube of lobster - and was made up of 95% breadcrumbs that had a jello-y consistency with AGAIN no flavor whatsoever. My husband got the eggplant parm, which he said was undercooked. My friend sitting across from me asked for a diet coke which never came. We had three friends who wanted to share a bottle of wine, but the waiter came out with one glass of wine. Again - he needed someone to help him so he wasn't so overwhelmed and rushed! Then we ordered several desserts to all share to celebrate the birthday, and they told us they had run out of ice cream but could use whipped cream instead. When they brought out the desserts, we had to wait five minutes for little plates and spoons to share. Honestly, I'm sure there are dishes here that are delicious, and it may be worth it to sit at the bar and grab and drink and have an app...but we didn't have a great experience and won't be back. read more

My experience at Antique was deplorable! We arrived to an indifferent Reception by someone who gave the impression we were interrupting his break. We were seated at a table near the window which was filthy! We ordered a salad which was barely enough for one person $9.00 It was as though it was left out in the sun and not at all fresh. My wife ordered veal scallopini the veal was red, and was questionable 24 hrs later we haven't become sick. I ordered Fettuccine, the price $16.00, the portion was child size. I've been here a couple times now. To sum it up, the food is for the most part good quality, but the portions are a bit light to justify the price. Also, service is slow, the indoor area is cramped, and to not have a selection of draft beers is a deal breaker in today's restaurant climate. My husband and I arrived at 3:55p.m. on a Saturday. We each had a beverage and my husband ordered a Cesar salad but they were out of romaine lettuce so he got a plain salad. So far so good. We ordered our food and 1 hour later received it. The food was excellent but the portions were very small and an hour wait was not acceptable. By the way when we were seated outside we were the only patrons there. Five more parties arrived and were served their meals before we were served. No explanation why....had they dropped the entree on the floor and had to start from scratch? Will never go back. read more

I should start by saying I have had great experiences here. Tonight was not one of those. Walking in, I was overwhelmed with fumes of rubber, tires, or something automotive-like. I had this experience the first time I visited when this location opened, but it seemed to get better with each visit. Tonight it was truly awful. I wish I had walked out. We ordered the puttanesca, seafood risotto, and veal saltimbocca. They were all missing vital components like garlic or other flavor. The olives in the puttanesca had pits in them. There was unrecognizable seafood and/or overcooked lobster in the risotto, and while the veal was really tasty, the Alfredo was a tasteless and there wasn't a lot of it. Portions seemed to be smaller than usual. While service was ok, all the other negatives outweighed any positive. I am not going to visit this location or recommend it, and will hope that going back to Lynn will restore my love of Antique Table. read more

Food was delivered. It was quick service however the quality of the two dishes was poor. The sauce was not good. Chicken was not good quality. Absolutely over priced for what you receive. Ordered flatbread with the meals, never received it. I called and they stated they didn't charge me, but we'll see. I suggest calling the customer anytime you don't have an item to let them know and maybe offer an alternative. read more

Yes it was a Saturday night at 8 pm and Salem was busy with tourists. We had no reservation but the kind Host found us a table and we had a lovely meal. I ordered chicken Valdostana which I have had many times in their Swampcott location and it was dead on the same delicious dish! A very HANGRY gentleman wearing a red checked shirt was berating the host, the sweet waitress, and the food making a total fool of himself because he found it "unexceptable" that he had to wait a bit longer for his cooked to order food. Our food was great and the service was adequate considering it was Saturday night at 8pm! Having been in the industry for many years, I can give the staff a pass if things take a bit longer but rudeness never makes things better. Hope that gentleman takes a deep breath. read more

Second visit last night. After a good first experience, we decided to try the outdoor courtyard dining area last evening. It was cozy, & very enjoyable on a comfortable Summer evening. Our service was spot on from the beginning. Both the hostess, & our server were very pleasant, & both checked on us multiple times. We started with a meatball appetizer in a red sauce. I make my own meatballs, & sauce, so I'm picky: these were great! Bread with dipping oil was brought to us early on. Strangely, my dining companion & I both chose the chicken saltimbocca, with the in house made fettuccini. She & I agreed that it was very tasty, & enough that we each took some home. For those not choosing to eat outdoors, I noticed that the inside dining areas were quite cool & comfortable. My only complaint was that both of our (bottled) imported beers were not adequately chilled. Overall, it was just the dining experience we were looking for. read more

This was my third visit to Salem Antique table and a pleasure to see that it continues to improve all the time. I chose to sit in the lounge at a high top in front of the windows, as you know, people watching is always fun in Salem. My delicious dinner meal paired with the excellent staff made for a great evening. Patrick who was functioning as both the bartender and wait staff for the lounge is excellent. He is friendly, engaging and makes your feel very relaxed and not rushed. His ability to be attentive but not intrude in your dinner conversation is a skill. Sat in the bar area. Bartender waited on us and was very nice. I ordered the Lobster Ravioli and it was amazing. And the jack and coke I had to drink was nice and strong as it should be . Would have considered going 5 stars but I had some lobster shell in the dish. However this spot is a must try for Italian and seafood lovers. read more

Is Antique Table under new management, all of the locations? We visited Salem a few weeks ago, and yes it is a busy time of year but that is no excuse for the poor service and cold food. In the past, Salem and Lynn have been good locations. But recent trips to Winthrop and Salem have left allot to be desired. Winthrop, attitude and extremely bad service. Salem at this visit; we received our salads in a reasonable amount of time. Dinner didn't arrive until at least 45 mins to an hour later. This was only after prompting the waiter. But it took another 10 mins for my son to get his pizza, which was doughy in the middle, uncooked. I guess to their credit they took it off our bill, but it wasn't edible. read more

First time but not the last time. Our server Anderson was outstanding friendly and very attentive. We got the Caesar salad it was fresh and the dressing was not overwhelming. We left your restaurant tonight extremely disappointed in the reception we received tonight when our party of 20 arrived for our 6:30 reservation. I selected the antique table based on pleasant past experiences and I anticipated a similar reception tonight, particularly the event tonight was to celebrate our father's life from his funeral earlier today. We arrived at the appointed time only to learn the room was not ready and occupied by other customers in the middle of their meal! The manager claimed it would not be long but it was clear it would be easily 30 min before we could begin our meal. We reserved nearly one week ago, selected the menu and were now stopped in our celebration. We left in frustration after waiting way too long. Not only have you lost our business tonight but a long time customer. We will be sure to let our friends in Marblehead know of the poor treatment we received tonight. Called in a big reservation for 18 people days in advance for my family to go out to dinner after a funeral. We got there and they had no record of the reservation and the table which was meant for us was going to be a 40 minute wait. Not to mention they didn't seem to care and did not even apologize for this huge mistake. Went into Salem location and 97% of tables were empty. Said reservations were needed and didn't seat anyone inside the restaurant no matter what size of the party. The manager said they had room outside but 10-15 min wait. He offered it as "we only have outside seating" - almost as if he was discouraging it. We waited for outside seating and when we got outside there were many empty tables and do not see why there would be a wait. Staff was not friendly (except our waitress) and not busy at all when we arrived. Many staff just standing around waiting for things to pick up. Service was horrible. Our waitress was very upset that so many customers were unhappy with their experience and it definitely had nothing to do with her. We tipped her well since the bad experience was out of her hands. We saw many people leave after patiently waiting at their tables for a long period of time. They brought out dinners one by one to our table. One person in our party got the dinner after everyone finished. Many complaints of cold food. Manager came out and tried to blame kitchen manager. The manager that said that, was the problem from the beginning. Won't be rushing back. Understand if busy but not the case at all when we arrived. I also understand they have reservations to deal with but if you didn't have one then they definitely did not welcome you - especially the manager on duty. Our whole dining experience took 2 1/2 hours. We got there at 5:30 p.m. I know everyone/place can have a bad night but don't think every step of the dining experience should be unacceptable - from start to finish. Hope all locations are not the same. Can't say I would be in a hurry to try another Antique Table but if I do, it won't be Salem. read more

This review is for the Salem, MA location. The food was excellent, the area we were seated in was falling apart (window sill rotting and dusty)and the wait staff was awful. Once we got our appetizers, we never saw our waiter again. We couldn't get anyone to refill our water glasses, no one came to check how our meal was or if we needed anything further. When we were finished, the waiter finally came over and we just wanted the check, which he gave us and he also left an empty wine bottle on our table. We left and had dessert and after dinner drinks at another restaurant across the street. DO NOT waste your money on this restaurant when there are so many other options in Salem. The food quality and selection is mediocre at best and the service was horrific!! Three of us ladies went on a Saturday night in November for my friend's 50th Birthday dinner which we told the server about when we sat. Our drinks took easily 20 minutes or more to get to the table and my drink order was incorrect, water took longer. We eventually got bread for the table which we ate as we waited over an hour for our meal. We ordered an appetizer which came after our meals were served at which point they decided to offer us more bread too, which we declined. Too late! They took the appetizer off the bill and when I ordered a second drink made a big deal about making sure it was going to be correct this time. It is now 3 hours later and we are the last people in the restaurant and ordered deserts (it's her birthday!) and did they bother to put a candle bother to put a candle in it or do anything special? No. Finally being so frustrated that we had been there for 3 hours and the last people to leave, I complained about this piss poor service on such special dinner to the inept manager when one of the waiters yells at me "What do you want him to do!!"
