If she was planning to bring some later, she would have said "we ran out. I'll bring you some when it's ready." I was right. She never came back. My friend asked another person for tea. He said "tea"? seemingly surprised at the request. Then he said we only have barley tea. I told him e already had the tea before but wanted more. He actually brought us tea. This Korean Barbecue was spectacular, the best I've had in NYC so far. Pro tip: The place is very popular so I recommend putting in those reservations ASAP. This place might be on the pricier side for some, but I wholeheartedly say it's worth it. To start, I tried the Galbi Tang which was a Brisket Soup with Short Ribs as well as the Kimchi Jjigae. Both were packed with flavor but I was inhaling the Kimchi Stew more. I also enjoyed the Kimchi Fried Rice, that runny egg on top was perfect with it, and the sliced beef brisket mixed in added another layer of flavor. As for the meats, I tried a little bit of everything. They were all incredible slices, I was definitely a fan of the Bulgogi, Beef Platter, and marinated pork shoulder. The meat and pork platters were also served with a smoking effect that makes your Antoya experience even more exciting. They have just recently launched an Italian fusion to many of their dishes and drinks, like a limoncello soju based cocktail that was light and refreshing. They also offer new dishes which I have yet to try, but if they're anything like what I already got, I'm sure they are amazing. 10000/10 recommend. The waits can be very long on the weekends, so I would recommend putting down your name/reserving beforehand. I'd like to begin by saying that I go out of my way and make it a point to show ALL people kindness and treat them with respect no matter what. It's something I've always taught my 9 year old son as well. My family went to Antoya Korean BBQon March 29th for a late night dinner. My husband asked for 3 bowls of rice, one for each of us, the male server didn't bring mine (I thought, ok, maybe he didn't realize his mistake, so my husband asked for another bowl). Then he deliberately put bbq short ribs on my husband's plate first and then on my sons. He never put anything on my plate. As I'm sitting there with my plate empty he made it a point to not place any of the bbq on my plate and told me to share with my 9 year old son. Ummmm? What? I was so angry. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to ruin anyone's meal, but I thought it was bullshit. Who does that? ... a chauvinistic does. We go to Korean bbq on occasion in Los Angeles and I have never experienced discrimination like this before, but I will never stand for it again! Food is ok, the meat platter is much better quality at New Wonjo. The egg dish with truffle was the highlight for me. Ban Chan is good. This place is mayhem. They don't really honor reservations. Even with reservations, guests had to wait an addition twenty minutes for tables. They don't call or text to see if you're still coming and if you come in even 10 mins past your reservation, they claim they gave away your table. We ended up sticking it out and waiting for the worst table in the spot even though people without reservations got tables first. The host was very nasty and gave us the worst table in the house next to the host stand and the door. I would not recommend this place for dining. We ordered Modeum So Gui (assorted beef platter for 2), which consists of prime rib eye, sliced prime short ribs, and marinated prime short rib. We booked Antoya for 6:00 pm on Sunday as a last minute thing and managed to secure a table. I would recommend booking ahead of time cause by 7:00 pm it was full! The portions were pretty decent for how much they charged ($40-$55 for a cut of meat). We enjoyed the thin sliced beef belly and prime rib eye. The Buchaesal- not so much. It was too salty imo while the prime rib eye without any marinade felt sweet on the tongue without trying. The space is decent given it is in ktown. The servers are very attentive and will help you cut your meat/ grill them. The decor is quite nice as there are flowers in the entrance. Bathroom is also quite clean and modern. A friend recommended this spot and I was delighted to go after briefly glancing at all the glowing reviews. I came here for lunch after making a reservation via yelp. Check-in was quick and easy and the wait after was pretty short. You have the option of a BBQ or non-BBQ table. My friend and I opted for the BBQ table and was seated on the second floor (there looks to be three floors). The lunch menu is available from 11AM to 3PM on weekdays. We decided to get the Modeum So Gui meat platter (the assorted beef platter for 2), which comes with prime rib eye, sliced prime short ribs and marinated cube short ribs. There was plenty of meat and they were all very flavorful and delicious. Service was great and the staff was very friendly. They will explain to you what type of meat it is as they're cooking it. They made everything medium-rare for you (which you can leave on the grill longer if you prefer). We almost got another appetizer to share, but decided against it. Honestly y'all, if I don't write my reviews fairly quickly after going to a restaurant or watching a movie or whatever, I forget. Knowing how I operate, I wrote some quick notes the day of. While the beef itself was pretty good, it doesn't mask how horrible the experience I had when I came here. My girlfriend had shrimp allergy, said this to our server, and asked if the gyeran jjim contained any shrimp because that's normal. The server said no, it has no shrimp. We ordered it, and as soon as it arrived, we smelled it and asked a different server about it because we smelled something fishy in it. This second server went to the back and came back saying that it does contain shrimp. This degree of irresponsibility is unforgiveable, and on another night or a different customer may lead to dangerous consequences. Another problem we found was that when we asked for garlic, the garlic that came to us smelled and tasted very weird. The server that took the garlic back (this was a 3rd server) smelled it on the way to the kitchen and made a face as well because of how bad it was. That being said the staff were apologetic and very nice. Little appeasement treats were offered: baby ice cream cups while waiting, an additional dish at the end. Food was really nice, but pretty expensive ($60 for a portion of beef?). The restaurant like all of Korea town was extremely lovely (read: too loud for conversation) but you know what you are in for in the area on a Friday night. This place was highly recommend and highly praised by a friend of mine, so when i had a NYC layover, i made sure to come and visit the place. Carl got down to my eye level and told me everything that they offer and gave me his recommendation, since i was the only one, he recommended the Korean Chicken Wings for Appetizer, the Korean Pork Belly with the Egg Souffle and the Gyoza. They brought me some Kimchi, Potato Salad, Anchovy Salad, Pickled Ferns, Pickled Radish,and some Pickled Spinach. We ordered way too much food for 3 people. And you know, as much as I do love KBBQ, this meal was not on my radar this night. My team - boss, me and two co-workers - were dragging after a very long, meeting-intensive, events-laden week in New York. We had parted ways at the hotel earlier, planning on going our separate ways for the night. I went back up to my room, fell into a deep but brief coma, then woke up puckish and ready to shop. I checked my phone to make sure I hadn't missed any important or frantic calls or texts and saw a string of texts from my boss asking if I wanted KBBQ. To be fair, we'd been talking about going out for KBBQ all week, so it made sense. Still, my mind wanted a slice or two of NY pizza and an early night back at my hotel. Instead, I found myself waiting in the lobby for my boss and one co-worker (the other had smartly turned off her phone before turning int a pumpkin for the night) at 8:30 pm, waiting to travel together to Samwon and some KBBQ. I know this all makes it sound like I didn't enjoy the food, the evening or the company. I did, on all counts, but we were all spent, and not in our right minds. Had we been lucid, we definitely would not have ordered everything we did. We knew we wanted a variety of meats, of course. This restaurant didn't have a combo of meats for us to order, so we went with the pork belly, ribs and flank. We also ordered one of the egg souffles, dumplings and, because we were temporarily crazy, the bulgogi fries. Add to this the spread of ban chan and bottle of soju, and you might understand why we kind of hated ourselves at the end of our meal. The meat was rather tasty, but this is a KBBQ that doesn't let you do the Q (and in my head, the Q stands for cooking. Yes, I KNOW that's not right, but I'm doing a thing.) Once the meat is brought to your table, a restaurant employee stops by to make sure everything's cooked the way it's supposed to be, and to split the meal up into even portions. The food was good, but I think the thing we consumed the most of was the ban chan. I lost track of the number of times my boss asked the waitress to refill the kimchee, pickled vegetables and tofu. The souffle was fluffy and light, but the bulgogi fries were completely unnecessary. They were good in that you're-putting-meat-on-french-fries kind of way, but I don't think I'd recommend them. We tried to finish what we could, but did end up leaving most of the fries, a good portion of the souffle and some of the pork (which was cooked with raw egg and water in a copper vessel) behind.
