For years this was a go to place for chocolate and ice cream, but over the past few years the quality has declined. I stopped getting chocolates there when the last time my husband got me a box for my birthday and they were hard and stale. This time we came for ice cream sundaes and I ordered coffee ice cream. It tasted like a mild chocolate so I told the girl I think I got the wrong ice cream. She said the coffee has not been coming out right and doesn't have strong enough flavor. (Then they shouldn't sell it, but that's my opinion). She made me another sundae, but hardly any hot fudge at all. My husbands sundae had hardly no topping as well. The whipped cream was greasy and thick, not airy or whipped like. I asked for a cherry on the sundae and she said it would be a dollar. When I questioned that she finally said it was crushed cherries they don't have cherries. Considering how expensive they are, you would expect quality, but that's not the case. The staff is either untrained or just untrainable and snippy. Save your dollars, there are so many better and less expensive ice cream places. read more

No cherry on top of your sundaes? Really? You ARE an ice cream parlor, after all. What's the problem with that? Too much work......too costly? When asked about it, they replied, "we never had cherries on top of our sundaes." Isn't that the topping on the cake, if you will? I remember there being cherries on their sundaes. Good stuff, but definitely not cheap by any measure of imagination. I had a sundae to go and a friend of mind brought home some ice cream on one of the few warm nights on record in Buffalo in the middle of January. I know, rare right? However, everything is made in-house and well put together in terms of presentation. It's an inviting atmosphere that I wish I could spent a date night enjoying one of their many sundaes. Overpriced!!!! The chocolates and ice cream are good but not worth the price. Some of the staff are very rude as well and lack customer service skills. A few nice girls work here but the majority are nasty. There is no flow for ordering everyone just stands in front of the counter. Grew up near this wonderful sweet shop - always go there when visiting back home. They never disappoint. Everything is fresh and delicious. The orange chocolate sponge candy is amazing. Perfect little ice cream and candy shop with fast and friendly service. I've heard nothing but good things about this place and finally had the chance to try it. I'm honestly not sure why I waited so long to do so because I have certainly been missing out. Their ice cream and toppings are all made in house. From the ice cream itself, to the peanut butter sauce, chocolate sauce, and whip cream, you can taste the care put into each recipe. The place is adorable and reminiscent of an old diner, or soda jerk fountain. I went for some ice cream with a friend and chose a large scoop if the black raspberry ice cream with chocolate fudge and whip cream. My friend chose the chocolate ice cream with peanut butter sauce and whip cream. Both concoctions were as delectable as they come. You'll be in a sugar coma before you know it, as the portions are huge and I certainly didn't know what I was getting myself in to. The sauces create a moat in the dish for the ice cream to dance upon when it starts melting, mixing perfectly into one sugary bliss. The ice cream is what I imagine most other ice creams aspire to be, and the in house made toppings bring it to new heights. The chocolate shop is filled with all the goodies you expect from a handmade chocolate shop. From chocolate, clusters, and candied nuts, to all sorts of truffles, I can guarantee you won't be disappointed with anything you choose from the case. Every year I used to visit my great-grandparents in Buffalo, and we would always go here to get the chocolate sponge candy, which is one of the greatest things I've tasted in my 24 years on this earth. Oh how the mighty are fallen. Antoinette's used to be a great place for premium ice cream desserts. However over the last couple of years, the portions have got smaller, the prices have gone up, and the selection has gone down. They are still an excellent place for candy but not ice cream. Many people might think Antoinette's is just known for it's ice cream but, to be honest, I've only had it a handful of times and I grew up in Cheektowaga and still live in WNY. I think the ice cream is really good, but what keeps me coming back...no, what keeps me addicted...is the CHOCOLATE. I have never had chocolate like this and, since growing up with it, I am ruined for anything else. Even the best quality Swiss chocolate is nothing compared to Antoinette's. I can't place what makes it totally unique, it's something about the actual flavor, though the texture is to-die-for, too. There is nothing like it anywhere. My kids are young adults now, but I still use them as an excuse to go to Antoinette's and buy chocolate bunnies, valentines, Christmas Santas, Halloween pumpkins, whatever!! During the summer, non-holiday months, I always make a couple trips just to get sponge candy or a few special pieces. Suprisingly I've never had their chocolate... This review is of their ice cream! They have the most delicious ice cream. I think they make it in house(not 100% sure)... It's amazing! BEST CHOCOLATE EVER !! I've had Watson and Wahls --- Wahls comes in second, but SWEETS on the Hill (Union Road) is dead LAST. They were once called Antoinette's Sweets but since they changed their name, their chocolate IS DIFFERENT -- waxy, bitter (milk chocolate) and they tell you that it is the same chocolate as Antoinette's on Transit Rd --- impossible. I purchased some for Sweetest Day from Antoinette's on Transit Rd. and they were GREAT --- just purchased the same type at Sweets on the Hill, I still had some left from Sweetest's Day, and decided to do a side by side comparison. They were waxy and had a bitter note in the milk chocolate cherry and pineapple and the peanut clusters, just did not taste the same --- chocolate quality not there. so wtd to try the ice cream but a planned return trip didn`t pan out. We visited while visiting family in the sh--hole of the world known as the greater Buffalo area. We had their $19.95/lb chocolate goods (choc quality pretty good,staff very friendly but real slooooow and in no hurry). Had the obligatory sponge candy it was a better version of the one we had from Wegmans. The other chocolates were ok. For nostalgia and charm we give it multiple stars. My favorite thing they have their ice cream wise is the cinnamon ice cream. There's a sundae called the cinnamon imperial which is phenomenal. They also in the chocolate shop have these fantastic homemade peppermint-style patties. you can get peppermint, Wintergreen, and cinnamon chocolate patties. They're amazing. One of the BEST Chocolate shops in Western NY. The milk Chocolate is Crazy Rich and the Orange Chocolate is the BEST. This is the Real Deal.
