My fiancé had been talking about this place for the past 5 years and when we finally went to Buffalo, I knew we had to go! They're an old family business and have been serving ice cream and chocolate to Buffalo since 1915. Absolutely everything, from the sponge candy, to the ice cream, to the chocolate, is phenomenal. I especially liked the little white chocolate animals and the ice cream sundaes that we had. You can also order things and get them shipped to you, which we are going to have to do! If you're in the Buffalo area, you need to try Antoinette's!

Just consider me Dorothy of Oz.... There's no place like Antoinette's Sweets.. they are the best in the chocolate world.. I've had their banana splits many times.... It's the original banana split right on down to the homemade whipped cream... however today I just picked up some dark chocolate, milk chocolate, orange chocolate and some peanut butter filled chocolate... I like the fact that they will ask if you'd like it wrapped for Christmas as a gift or packed because you're traveling... all free of charge...! What a delightful Christmas this will be.

Antoinette's is a local staple. They've been open forever and they're known for delicious sundaes and chocolate galore! I came in recently to get a box of chocolate as a gift. There were many pre made boxes to choose from, but I decided to select a variety of truffles instead. When I told them it would be a gift, they even wrapped the box for me. Service was great. I highly recommend stopping in, to either enjoy some ice cream, or pickup chocolate.

I used to come here as a little girl and still try to come back every time I'm back in town. We drive 40 mins to get their cherry blossom sundae and ugh...so worth it. Everything about it is so delicious - the ice cream with marshmallow sauce and a bit of crushed up maraschino cherries. And the whipped cream. So good. I also just love browsing their chocolate selection. The BEST sponge candy IMO!

Antoinettes has the BEST sponge candy! Delicious beyond words! Dark chocolate, milk Chocolate- yum, yum, yum Every year- for years- my Father sends me in Colorado (and multiple other family members in other states) Antoinette's sponge candy and also orange chocolate for Valentines Day! My parents are from Buffalo, and my father now lives in CA. I always look forward to this Valentine Day treat. And wrapped in the cutest paper. I especially like the new papers this year. The orange chocolate is absolutely scrumptious too. But my sponge candy rarely last longer than 48 hours! Ten thumbs up Thanks Antoinette's!

The best ice cream cake

We ordered a birthday cake the other day and it was literally the best ice cream cake we have ever had! Topped with their homemade whip cream and hot fudge. If you need a cake I highly recommend this one!

Enjoying a hot fudge sundae.

Classic homemade ice cream. I always order the hot fudge sundae topped with real whipping cream, hot fudge, cherry sauce and pecans. It is served in a classic metal ice cream dish with a glass of water to follow. They have tables and old fashioned booths to sit in. After you are done with your ice cream walk over to the store side loaded with homemade chocolate and candy treats for purchase. I make a point to stop here whenever I visit family in Buffalo.

I have always loved the charm of Antoinette's. My good friend from high school and her family used to take us here from time to time so it holds a little sentiment in my heart. Other than great memories - this place has amazing ice cream and home made whipped cream. I love the huge counter you order at and can see the production behind it as the staff make up the sundaes. They also have a ton of home made chocolates for sale and every Easter they put an enormous chocolate bunny on display. Antoinette's is the perfect spot for any sweet tooth craving for sure.

I finally had the opportunity to visit Antionette's for their famous ice cream! The shop is super cute with loads of handmade chocolates, and different pastries and other things to try. They've got everything you could imagine on shelves including all the fancy truffles and sponge candy! They make their ice cream home made and have a bunch of different flavors and sundae's to try. They serve it on a little plate with two waters and have a couple of booths in store which I thought was a nice touch. Cool place I'll be back for some more ice cream for sure!

After an outstanding dinner at Hayes Seafood in Buffalo we made our way to Alethea's Chocolates for…read moredessert. Alethea's is named for the great grandmother of the current owners who started making candy in Greece over a century ago. The current shop is located in a charming, historic house in Williamsville - everything is made on the estate. Alethea's has an outstanding selection of icre cream and chocolates. We opted for the two-scoop almond butter toffee sundae which has vanilla and chocolate ice cream infused with almond butter toffee crumbles from the chocolate store. Drizzled in home-made choclate and caramel sauces and topped with freshly whipped cream, the ABT sundae is a decadent tribute to the fine art of creamery perfection. On our way out, we bought a pound of a Buffalo staple - chocolate covered sponge candy. Alethea's is a must-stop for anyone with a sweet tooth!

Turns out, I've been missing out on one of the greatest sweets ever invented. A quick search led us to Alethea's Chocolates, and wow... if chocolate heaven exists, I just found the front door. It's part Chocolate Wonderland, part 1950s Ice Cream Parlor, and 100% worth the stop. We were greeted by Sharon, who handed us a sample of vanilla fudge (amazing!) and pointed us straight to the sponge candy. And if you've never had it -- think caramel, honey, and toffee having a crispy, melt-in-your-mouth baby. I'm team dark chocolate, but you can't go wrong either way. Sharon was a total sweetheart -- 72 years young and clearly loving her "pretty sweet gig." She even let me take her photo for this review! Before leaving, I peeked into the old-school ice cream parlor next door -- old fashioned table & chairs, vintage charm, the whole vibe. I didn't get ice cream this time (I had a date with Rosie's Handcrafted Ice Cream later), but I'm definitely coming back. If you love chocolate, nostalgia, and a little sugar-induced happiness -- this place is a must-visit. Alethea's made me believe in love at first bite.

This is the spot to go. We came in for a quick stop to grab some ice cream on the way home. We also had to pick up some candy too because I mean, we were here, might as well! This place always feels like walking into Wonka's factory. There are so many different kinds of chocolate and candy that there is something for everyone on that front. Then the ice cream parlor is pure nostalgia and there are so many flavors offered. I got a milkshake and it was made perfectly, topped with whipped cream and a chocolate wafer. The staff here is always friendly and helpful. The vibes are so happy in here. I suggest this spot to everyone looking for some sweets.

Well first off, the good stuff... The lady behind the counter was super polite and very helpful with my selections. I typically do my chocolate shopping at one of the competitors stores however I thought I would try Watson's chocolate and my first impression was very high. One of the items I purchased was orange sponge candy and she had a little concern that maybe some of it wasn't up to the high standards that they try to abide by so she asked if you check the box first. She explained that during the summer time sometimes sponge candy doesn't survive the trip for too long so no problem I said she gloved up and checked all of them, found a couple that weren't passing her quality control standards so she replaced them. I took that box and a couple of other selections, paid and left. One of the other items I tried was fudge meltaway which I had never actually had before. Personally my wife and I didn't care for it however that is probably just our personal palate coming into play as I'm quite certain it wasn't prepared improperly or anything. The coconut patties were very good and the orange sponge candy honestly some of it was kind of chewy. The fact that she had some concern over the quality of this and felt the need to check it kind of threw up a little bit of a red flag for me and after getting it home and having some I'd have to say I'm a little disappointed. I'm not by any means a connoisseur of sponge candy or anything however if what she said was true about it staying fresh during the summer months and obviously she had some concern that it may not have been, why wouldn't you just pull all of it off the shelf and make more? I mean I used to manage a restaurant and it's the same idea in my opinion, if you're not happy with the food going out, don't send it. I would rather have purchased just milk chocolate sponge candy and been reassured that they didn't have orange because it failed their quality check. So I took one star off what would have been a five star review for that reason, the other one I took off because I couldn't find the building. If you approach this location from the side that I did, the side that faces a little strip mall with a good sized parking lot, there is no signage of any kind anywhere that says hey this is a store that sells chocolate. It just looks like a house sitting on a separate property off to the side. My GPS said I was there, I'm driving around the parking lot for 5 minutes looking at all of the store fronts trying to find Watson's chocolate, and it doesn't exist. I finally put my GPS on walking directions and found myself approaching like I said what looked like somebody's big old house... And I didn't even feel comfortable doing that until I got about 6 ft from the door where there's a sheet of paper sized sign that says Watson's chocolate and has the hours posted. I mean seriously something that could be seen from the road would have been nice, something that could have been seen from the parking lot would have been even better. Apparently if you approached this from the other direction there's a great big sign so I would have had to have driven past it not realizing it and did a u-turn and then I would have said oh there it is. The lady working inside like I said was very super polite and I suggested that to her and she kind of looked at me and said the owners are aware of it but they haven't done anything about it yet. I'm guessing nobody local has a problem because yeah they probably know where this place is however I live over 3 hours away and didn't have a clue. So yeah I'm kind of mixed as far as my opinion of the actual chocolate, I might go back and try a couple other selections and see how they taste. If I do I will try a different sponge candy, maybe one that sells more often so the stock is rotated more often.
