We ate there tonight. We have been coming to Key West for years, we remember when Antonia's was the original, with the pasta making in the window. Long before the fire. It was wonderful for years. I am so sad to say, now- what a disappointment. They have stopped trying. The food was lackluster. Nothing off or bad, just tasteless. Except for the Vongole pasta, which was almost inedibly salty. No we didn't send it back, but perhaps should have. I just feel badly about doing that. These people don't know me and don't know whether I have cut my teeth on restaurants all over the world or whether my palate was developed on fast food. (not the latter) Our appetizers were ok, the calamari in brodetto had fresh calamari but an oddly sweetish tomato sauce, we had a wonderful arugula soup special with a sour cream dollop that unfortunately contained so much lemon zest and lemon chunks that it overwhelmed the dish. (that lemon dollop wasn't mentioned anywhere on the menu). It left me wishing I had tried the goat cheese souffle. The asparagus was a real winner, though, and highly recommended. The waiter, while friendly when he was there, was at best inconsistent. We ordered a bunch of things that restaurateurs like to see. Two bottles of wine plus extras. Each time I ordered an extra glass of wine, it never came unless I reminded the waiter long after it got to the point of absurdity. My son's boyfriend joked that I wasn't the right gender to get attention. That's kind of the other thing that made me feel bad. Here I had talked this place up big time to my son and his partner, and we really got pretty much the "nice but distant" service with little afterthought. They didn't chase us out but we weren't made to feel welcome either. In fact, the owner or manager made a point of going to all the "regulars' " tables, I suppose they were regulars, but despite walking past us multiple times, not never once asked how we were doing. The place was maybe 3/4 full at the height. I understand catering to regulars, they are after all your mainstay, but Key West is a destination, and a great deal of business is made on people like us- not regulars but not strangers either. A cordial stop or hello would be in order. Perhaps there is a different set of rules for the islanders. I hope they support these folks, because we are not going back. Odd, because Key West is one of the places in the world I would have expected to be treated like an equal, and so wasn't. read more

Staying in Key West for 12 days with my Son, Daughter in law, and my new grand daughter and was looking for a non-pizza Italian restaurant. August is not the busiest of times in Key West so made no reservation, just came in and WOW they could not have been nicer, very accommodating to my daughter in law - baby in tow along with the stroller. Food was excellent, wine choices outstanding Brad the waiter was terrific. Told us about other places that we needed to try while in Key West - we did and he was spot on perfect with recommendations, really how many go to that extent today? Came back a second time and was just the same but now they treated us as a regular, will be going back in a few months Nice attitude through out, food was excellent and the place was fun. thanks Brad!!!!! read more

We enjoyed our first visit so much we went back for another visit during our week vacation. The first night the waitress was a wonderful young lady who was very personable and provided us with excellent service. The bartender mixed up a wonderful pair of martinis, perfectly chilled. I really enjoyed the appetizer and I had a pasta dish that I really enjoyed. Nicely completed with dessert. Just a great meal with extremely attentive service. That was a Sunday night. We returned on Friday, and experienced another server who was just as attentive. The martinis were just as icy and refreshing, and the food was wonderful. My companion raved about the seafood. I was not as thrilled with my second pasta choice as it was heavier and spicier than I should have eaten, but I knew that going in. Two really pleasant meals in a row. You can't beat that. read more

This is an Americanized Italian restaurant, not authentic Italian, as they claim. For any of you that have experienced true Italian cuisine in Italy, this place will be sure to disappoint you. To be fair, some of the "appetizers of the day", like the asparagus gratin and the clams in white wine sauce were quite decent, though very salty. But, how difficult is it to pull off a good asparagus gratin and clams in white wine sauce? Not very difficult. The giveaway were the squishy bread, the flavorless olive oil, unsophisticated and non-al-dente pasta dish, the mixed salad's bland dressing, and the bad cappuccino. At that point it was clear this was not true Italy. If you are happy paying $$$$ for Americanized Italian food, than this is the place for you. But, if you were hoping for the authentic Italian taste, skip this place. read more

I would say for Key West it's probably one of the better places, but I was there for a group dinner and they just didn't live up to the expectations. The steak was over cooked, potatoes cold, and the server took the dish from salad but left dirty fork and knife for the other courses and it left stains on the table cloth, which is a big no, no. Friendly greeting and prompt service were just the beginning. The experience was great from start to finish. We split the asparagus al forno antipasti with both white and green asparagus. Good start. Went looking for Italian food in Key West and this was a very highly rated option for my birthday dinner. Made a reservation (a wise choice since it's a small-ish place right on Duval) and went in a few hours later. Maybe one of the best Italian meals I've ever had. I got a glass of prosecco, and we shared the caprese salad. My meal was the gorgonzola sauce gnocchi but it will always be known as "cheese pillows" to me. It was fantastic. I've never had gnocchi so soft and perfect, and the sauce was just phenomenal. So thick. So cheesy. So rich. The absolute perfect birthday indulgence. After reading the other reviews (by mostly local guides btw) for this restaurant we were excited to try it on vacation. However we were extremely disappointed. This is the worst Italian restaurant we have ever eaten at. The food was bland, the seafood was not fresh and the service was absolutely terrible. Some of the food we ordered was barely edible. After spending $200 on dinner and appetizers the waitress disappears and doesn't even ask if we need anything else or how the food was. One of the worse experiences we have ever had at a restaurant. Skip this and grab the $7 lobster roll from the bar down the street, you won't be disappointed with that! read more

We ate dinner here our first night at key west and it was our best meal of the trip! The bottles of wine are reasonably priced and there are many tasty menu options. We started with the bruschetta special with ripe yellow and red tomatoes. This was excellent and a large portion. Our entrees were excellent and freshly Caught that day! Ok, I had reservations about this spot but only because I read reviews on tripadvisor and the people were all like, "oh wow, so snooty, the waiter was a jerk" etc. But I was desperately in search of Italian food and with my other options being Mangia Mangia (gag) and Abbondanza, I decided to try here. I got the special of Frutti di Mare (I think I spelled this right... 2 years of Italian and I still suck) with linguine and my husband got the lamb shank. We found this place on our walk about on Duval street. I liked the atmosphere and our waiter - a true Italian - was really awesome and attentive. If you ever want the best gnocchi ever made come here - of course don't count calories as the only way is gorgonzola sauce. We also got the hurricane special which gave us 3 choices of items - asparagus with truffle was perfectly cooked; fruitti di mare - SUPER yum!; and blueberry sorbetto which had little chunks of blueberry with a great refreshing flavor. read more

I went here two weeks ago for a girl's night out when I was on vacation with the family. When we stepped out of out cab onto Duval street our noses literally led us to Antonia's! The smell was absolutely amazing! We were greeted and sat promptly by the staff. Our waiter was very on point and helpful. Cocktails were great and the food was amazing. We all had pasta. I had the gnocchi which literally melted in my mouth and my mom/sister had a pasta with a tomato sauce they said was to die for! We always visit Antonia's when we're in Key West. The room is dark and quiet, service is nicely polished, and I've never been served anything I didn't like. As others have mentioned, Antonia's food and service come with a few dollar signs attached. Read the menu that is posted outside and see if it fits your budget before you go in, then you won't have to whine about the prices on Yelp. read more
