We did not set out to order pizza from Antonio's. It was July 4th and we discovered that many of the pizza restaurants were closed. Only Antonio's on Thayer Street was open. I've been there many times for a slice of pizza before a movie, pre-covid, but I had never ordered full pies. We had a crowd and we needed four large pizzas. Antonio's did not disappoint, and we were absolutely not sorry that all the other places were closed. By far our most favorite pie was an eggplant spinach pie with ricotta cheese that was superb. We will definitely think of Antonio's next time whether or not we're in the mood for a slice or a whole pie. read more

This place sucks. Honestly, it has always sucked. Their pizza is mediocre at best and disgustingly overpriced at $4 a slice. But they've gotten a pass for the very simple reason they have pizza until 2am. Well. Apparently not anymore. Went in at 1:05am (they're open until 2am every day) on 1/10/2019 to have "We're out of pizza!" shouted at me as I walked through the door. While visiting Boston, it seemed as if everyone knew about and loved going to Antonio's in Providence, Rhode Island, so we ventured out for a night so I could see what the hype was about. I was ecstatic to try the cheddar potato pizza. Up until this point of my life I hadn't tried anything unique on my pizza... Antonio's had so many options to choose from! I love pizza. my boyfriend brought me here to satisfy my cravings of pizza and it was amazing! I got a slice of the bacon and like shredded beef or something? whatever it was, it was deliciousssss! and I also had a slice of the chicken, bacon and ranch Sicilian garlic bread pizza, and that has to be my absolute favorite thing ever. the flavor in that pizza was to die for. Sneaky good...if you order an entire pie. Was expecting a classic college town pizza that was mediocre. Antonio's was pretty solid overall. After looking at the slice selection, decided to just get an entire pie. Some slices looked fresh while others looked to be sitting around for a while. I always try and avoid the slice route because of freshness and not all slices seem to reheat well. Ordered a mushroom and olive pie and it was pretty good. From sauce to crust, solid overall. The toppings weren't evenly spread but I really don't care about that. It's pizza! Guy behind the counter was nice. Had their Chicken Quesadilla pizza slice and it was good.....crispy crust, thinner than regular, but not as thin as grilled pizza. The toopings were: Spicy chicken, tortilla chips, pico de gallo with cilantro, sour cream and cheddar cheese...all of them tasted of good quality and fresh. The place had a lot of hype among my friends so I decided to check it out when I wanted pizza that wasn't Dominos. I was honestly very disappointed. They take cold pizza that has been sitting on the counter for who knows how long and reheat it in an oven. Even after it had been reheated, the pizza was at best warm and not very hot, and the pizza got cold pretty quickly. They do not have all of the pizzas listed on their menu at all times. You will have to choose from what is available. I also wish they would put in more tables and chairs and organize them in a more meaningful way. The place looks like a mess with the awkward failed burrito counter in one corner. Open the space up! I guess their one saving grace is that they stay open late, so at least its an option for hungry college students when everything else except Bajas is closed at 2am. If I had to go to Antonio's again, I would stick with the Sicilian pizza. It is like a pan pizza that comes in square slices and it is probably the best item on their menu, but I doubt I will be going back anytime soon. read more

"Choco Loco," also known as "Beaurider," also known as breaded chicken and tortellini pasta pizza ($3) is also what they used to call me when I was a grad student and ate there almost every weekday for lunch, enough so that they gave me an Antonio's T-shirt that I have still never worn. I stopped by recently on a trip to Providence, and it was pretty much the same as I'd left it 4 years ago. In fact, I actually recognized one of the guys working there, which in one way temporarily provided the comforting illusion that nothing had changed and in another way felt creepy like Groundhog Day. The main draw is an impressive slice selection of 30+ varieties that is even enjoyable sober, ranging from basic cheese ($1.75; the days of $1 slices are long gone) to specialty slices ($2.75-$3) including pesto portobello with fresh mozzarella and basil, barbecue chicken, pepperoni, pesto chicken, mexican, the aforementioned and many others. Gordito Burrito is also in the same establishment, so if you have companions who are intimidated by the pizza selection, there's always a simpler option. The Antonio's side of the house keeps it focused, and I will too: If you like New York style pizza, you can't really go wrong here. read more

Good god, I will never forget the first time I ordered and ate my taste of heaven here. Not only for the food and great deal, but because a drunken, hairy fatty walked up to me (sitting at the window counter) and pressed his man boobs against the glass. He rubbed his nipples. Then he proceeded to start pulling down his pants. At this point his friends pulled him away. Make no mistake, during fourth meal this place was packed !! I ordered a medium pizza to share with friends, which came fast, fresh, and tasty. There is nothing I can say to describe the pizza here except that it was good, down to the last crumb. Greasy, as most pizza is, but that was easily taken care of with a napkin. The guy working the register was nothing but efficient while friendly. Stop here for cheap, good pizza. There is nothing they can do wrong, except maybe run out of food for a minute. Who knows, maybe it will be so packed that you bump into someone special and laugh about the fat guy with hairy boobs. read more

Ive got nothing against Nice Slice whatsoever....I just prefer the variety of Antonio's. (Although I hear...at great lengths...from my vegan friends that Nice Slice is better.) LOVE this place. Yes, pizza is really good but not stupendous, and the way they have the line is very awkward. But the variety is awesome. About twice a year, I pick up about 12 pieces - the slices are so big that you can cut each into 3 strips - good for serving many different kinds to company. I also freeze it as I don't get here as often as I'd like to. The best pizza I've ever had at Antonio's: 1. Spinach - portabello mushrooms - bleu cheese (when they have it, not often enough in my opinion) 2. Rice - beans - teriyaki steak 3. Steak - cheddar - mushrooms Other pluses: Very thin pizza, so no need to feel guilty about carb overload. Usually not too much cheese on their pizza; I'm a cheese lover but there's always just enough to give it great flavor. So reduced guilt there, too. Relatively inexpensive. Fast service. Totally casual pizza place on Thayer St. They serve everything from your standard pepperoni to the not so standard taco pizza. There is a daily special or two which always look delicious!
