One of the best Italian restaurants I've been to in a very long time. The staff is so friendly and warm you feel like you're having dinner in a family home. Share several dishes amongst of a group of 4. Had more traditional dishes such as veal parm and lasagna which were excellent and the waitress recommended a ziti dish with smoke mozzarella and eggplant which was simply amazing. Ate here last night with my family. This is the worst Italian food I have ever had. We ordered the recommended special which was elbow macaroni with eggplant and Bolognese sauce. The noodles were so soft, they were falling apart. And tasteless. The entire dish was awful. It was like eating Chef Boyardee out of a can. The reviews here are very good. This place is amazing!! One of the best meals I've ever had in New York City! This was only my 2nd time visiting the Bronx - went to the New York Botanical Garden and was looking for a nice place to have lunch when it was suggested I visit Arthur Avenue / Little Italy - it was a short walk from NYBG. I never knew a Little Italy existed in the Bronx. This place was amazing - all the employees I interacted with were so friendly. The owner is so energetic and was running around greeting customers and I even saw him singing happy birthday to a customer! This restaurant felt so cozy and had such a warm environment. We had the penne alla vodka, lasagna, and garlic bread with cheese. It was all delicious and this may have been the best Italian meal I've ever had. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant. Even if you live farther away, this is a great place to go to before or after your visit to the NYBG. read more

Delicious. Superb. Divine. I don't know what word to use to describe our experience here. After a day at the zoo, my husband was looking forward to some good, authentic Italian food in Little Italy. Never again will I look at Italian the same. My penne vodka was delicious, my husband's chicken with 4 cheeses (don't remember the name exactly...) was superb and the garlic bread with mozzarella was divine. We stayed to chat with the manager for a bit and just had a great time. Next time I'm in NYC, I'm making the trip up here. read more

My friend and I went in for Bronx restaurant week for lunch. The decor was really nice and warm. I had fettuccine with fried prosciutto in a cream sauce and boy was it good! Could of use a bit more of salt but good nonetheless. The staff was friendly and the service was good. The waiter almost forgot to take off the 15% off our bill (we had to remind him) but other than that the food was good including the bread! Would def be back! read more

Terrific place. Antonio's staff makes you feel very welcome and the service is always solid. We have been here many times and in our experience it seems that you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Antonio's at best was underwhelming. Dinner started with the Tre colore salad and the cold antipasti. My salad was underdressed; sufficient olive oil salt and pepper but no vinegar. The endive and radicchio were not cut well so instead of nicely proportioned shreds I had big chunks of bitter endive. The waiter did not come with freshly ground pepper or Parmesan cheese. He did not possess adequate knowledge of the wine list. My wife's entree broccoli rabe, sausage, and penne consisted of too much pasta; sausage sufficient for a bird, and underseasoned spinach. Our friend's sauce for his pasta was dry, under seasoned and not flavorful. I ordered the rib eye steak 16 ounces, polenta, and sauteed spinach. The sauteed spinach was underseasoned and dull. There were rookie mistakes all over the place. The sauteed spinach released so much water that it flooded the plate and the salty goodness of the steak was lost in the wave of spinach water. My polenta was overcooked and clumpy and the portion too small for a 16 oz. steak. The specials were uninspired, the entrees were run-of-the-mill Italian food. The restaurant attempted nothing outside of the box and sadly accomplished only a mediocre showing of Italian favorites. Antonio's was awesome! Went with our fellow Fordham graduates and families after a Fordham basketball game today and loved the pizza, salads, and dinners ordered. We had lunch here, and the food is fantastic! Not a fancy place, but well run and friendly. It was very clear that this was a local's favorite in the Italian section of the Bronx. The place was full for lunch, and I think we were the only tourists there! We had the Lasagne, the Gnocci, and the Spaghetti and Meatballs. All very very good. read more

I've been dining at Antonio's for about two years now and it's my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. The food and service are both very good. The atmosphere is very relaxed and welcoming. Joe the manager is great. I've had my last two birthday dinners there and I go for lunch often. It's as friendly and comfortable when you dine alone as when you are in a group of 6 or 8. The prices are very reasonable too. It's a great place for a traditional Italian-American meal. read more

Arrived at an odd time - 4:15 on a Saturday - and got seated right away. Service was slow, but likely just due to the shift-change timing of our visit. We weren't given a wine list or any drink menu. We ordered an appetizer and two entrees. We finished the appetizer a full ten minutes before our food arrived, which seems like poor timing. It took close to 25 minutes from the time we ordered until our food came out. We both ordered pastas - lasagna and gnocchi - and both were good. Very heavy, very large portions, so you're getting your money's worth, you will leave full. Probably a 4-star level during normal dinner hours, but 3 stars for this particular visit. read more

Very good food - I had delicious chicken parm preceded by a large Gorgonzola salad. The only problem was we came on a very busy Sunday afternoon when the place was packed (Bronx restaurant week plus Fordham family weekend), and we were lucky we got a table for 2 without reservation with only a few minutes wait. I guess the crowds were the reason for some of the kinks with service, e.g. we ran out of water and wine and were never asked if we wanted more, plus it took a long time to get our check after dessert, but I would definitely give it another try on a less busy day to enjoy the ambience read more

The food is absolutely delicious, I am so happy I found this restaurant on yelp, it certainly is a five star restaurant. All the employees at the restaurant are extremely friendly. The waitress was very attentive and made some excellent suggestions regarding our wine selection. My mom loved her lasagna, she said it was the best she tasted, my husband enjoyed the Rotini Rugantini, and my children ordered the gnocchi caprese, I had the primavera pizza. The crust was thin and crisp the vegetable where fresh and cooked to perfection with fresh mozzarella cheese. It is about a 5 minute ride from Fordham University, you can park on the street or in the municipal parking lot about 2 blocks away. The best is they take reservations! read more

One star because the people in this restaurant are so nice, welcoming and really a joy to be around. Our waiter was a doll! It's too bad that the food is so Americanized and truly bad. There is no Italian I know who could ever accept the food that they serve here. The pizza is abysmal. I have never had such bad pizza in my life. I even asked the waiter if it's a good option and he told me that the pizza is great and I believed him. Frozen pizza is better than this. A bland, heavy crust with flat edges that seems like it was pre-made. The tomato and mozzarella were acceptable but with pasta (crust) so bad, it's hard to enjoy anything about this pizza. The fried and stuffed artichoke hearts also tasted frozen. It tasted as if they got a jar or can of artichoke hearts, put a little goat cheese and (I believe it was) sun-dried tomato on it, breaded it in some thick, absurd coating and fried it. Then, most likely, warmed it in the microwave and put it on a plate. It was edible, but worthless. My friend's pasta had chicken in it and the chicken was so perfectly squared off, it looked like it was processed from McDonald's. Another friend had the eggplant parmigiana which was acceptable but the sauce was very acidic as if much of it came from a can or a jar and had too much paste. Why do American Italian restaurants cook like this? It's so easy to cook Italian food. No matter how nice the people in this restaurant are, and believe me, they are very, very nice, there is no reason for the food to be this bad and unauthentic. I've lived and been all over Italy. You will not find food like this anywhere in that country. Forget any suggestion that this place is Italian. It's not. It's American Italian and you may as well attempt cooking at home with fresh ingredients. I wish I could say something better because I want to. read more

On a visit to NYC from Buffalo, I heard about the Little Italy experience of Arthur Avenue in the Bronx. I chose Antonio's after reading reviews online. The price point, and the fact that it was family friendly are what motivated me to make a reservation for my three generational family dinner. From the initial phone call, I was impressed by how welcoming and gracious the staff were. Joe the bartender took my call, and thanked me for choosing Antonio's. At the door, we were greeted by another Joe, who reaffirmed my first impressions. We started with a quattro formaggio pizza with arthichokes and sundried tomatoes...WOW! I enjoyed a special of the day: tri colored fettuncini in a veal stew ragu. It was a bountiful portion and extremely tasty. My daughter-in-law raved about her spaghetti carbonara. The only thing better than the food was the service, provided by Santino, a charming and knowledgable family member of the restauranteur. And that's how it went...it was like being at your Aunt's house for dinner, if your Aunt was a pretty darn good Italian chef and had her 30 closest friends over. We'll be back! read more

antonios is a very nice italian restaurant in the heart of the arthur ave section of the bronx.they offer many choices of pastas seafood and meat.service was excellent,atmosphere upbeat.you have to have anyone of the salads pricey maybe but worthit.the main courses were good portions.all of our entrees were excellent.cant say anything about desert,we left and went to one of the many pastry shops for coffee and pastry.i would suggest going on a saturday night and feel the excitement of arthur ave.you dont have to be italian,reservations a must read more
