For being located in a tourist area they do a very good job with compelling variety and menu authenticity but clearly not with the volume of food nor at the prices of the best local low-cost diners in nearby Lihue. I was here last Saturday, Sep 30th. This place was a recommendation from a friend who visits Kauai frequently and did not disappoint. This place has the best Loco Moco I've ever had. I also had their Plantation Iced Tea, half tea and half pineapple juice and the two blended very well, taste-wise. I walked into this establishment with no real expectations aside from decent food and more aloha that this island is famous for. Boy was I surprised. I witnessed a "confrontation" between the owner and employee. The owner, a taller blond woman with glasses let loose with a barrage of VERBAL ABUSE to the poor girl. Worst of all, she was doing this in front of customers!! I have never seen such a blatant display of employer abuse!! We went for breakfast on a Thursday morning and were quickly seated at a nice, quaint table on the patio. The ambience was great and the server staff very good and attentive. We ordered eggs benedict, macadamia nut banana pancakes, a side of pork and a side of eggs over medium. The pancakes were outstanding, and a meal in themselves. The kulua pork was very tender and the helping was large. The disappointment was with the eggs benedict. They came with fried eggs and hollandaise sauce, not poached. And this wasn't a mistake. They simply do not do a poached egg preparation as I heard the waitress explain to another table AFTER we got our order. My wife is a bit of an eggs benedict expert, so she was totally turned off and ended up eating most of my pancakes. Even though the eggs were good, they were not poached. Also the potato hash browns had a different spice on them which was not appealing to us. It really came down to not having poached eggs that was the problem. We will definitely go back for the French toast and will stay away from the Benedicts now that we know. If not for that, this would have been 4 stars. read more

First of all, the service we received was lackluster...neither one of our servers gave the friendly service expected in a small establishment, they didn't even present the breakfast special. Then, I've never been to a breakfast restaurant were they "couldn't" put an egg and some cheese together on an English muffin- when all three ingredients are clearly available on the menu-especially when it's for a child- (and there were no child friendly menu items available). Not a plethora of straight breakfast options outside of the resorts locally. We usually hit this place once during our stay on the island. It is a refreshing change. Food is good, service is good. Limitations include very militant about not being able to substitute anything. Can add or remove, but no subbing. Portion is good, but really no garnish/side with a meal. Pancakes are steep @ $13 for two - ouch. The set up is a bit wonky. Like alcoves and ancillary seating feel funky. Another joint in the mall closed and it's a restaurant build out. Suggest striking a fair lease for this spot and move there. In any event, looking for something other than a $60 breakfast at your resort: check it out. read more

This place is always packed, tucked into a little shopping center, so get your name on the list and scope out the shops while you wait! The seating and ordering process is..."interesting"...personally, I'd rather either 1. wait in line and order, then go sit down, or 2. be waited on, hand a foot ;) The get on a list for a table, then get on a list to be allowed to get up again from your table and go order, and then get on a list for your food to be then served to you helped pass the time, but my lazy vacation butt would have rather just had everything done for me! Skip the loco moco here - I'm a big loco moco fan and this one was my least fave ever (bland and with a dry, boring, tough meat patty). The banana macadamia nut pancakes are where it's at. YUM-YUM-YUM! The coffee was tasty, the view was lovely, and the service crew was nice. Clearer communication/expectations about the dining experience, and a better loco moco (salt that gravy and improve that patty!) would have made this a 5-star experience :) I'll be back. I eat here every time I come to Kauai for breakfast! The service to excellent and fast. They have indoor/outdoor seating. I recommend arriving early as sometimes there is a line. When you arrive , remember to write your name on the list and you will be called when they have a table ready for you. The menu has something for everyone of all ages. Shyla and Kawehi usually take excellent care of me while I'm here! I recommend asking for these two ladies. You certainly won't be disappointed. If you like hot sauces, ask for the Kauai Juice Co hot sauces. They have a variety of them and they are all flavorful. read more

Anuenue Cafe Rocks! Stumbled on to this cafe while shopping. After several failed attempts at having Eggs Benedict Kauai, Michelle (owner) convinced me to to give the "Riptide" a try. Totally amazing! Everything you could hope for in Eggs Benedict with an amazing home made hollandaise and a delicious pork twist.. Da Kine! We came here 3 times during our 6 day visit. I had the "Tow In" (French toast with coconut pudding and macadamia nuts, eggs and bacon), the Kalua pork fried rice (comes with two eggs), and the Banana Macadamia Nut Pancakes, all three were delish!! The service was great & the coffee was good. It's pretty small so there could be a wait but we never had to wait that long. Went to Anuenue because it had 4.5 stars and the breakfast pictured looked Amazing.... and it definitely didn't disappoint. Kylie was so sweet and checked in to make sure we weren't missing anything. I got the French toad with lemon and raspberry syrup, SO delicious. Also tried the riptide and the banana Mac. Pancakes.. All were amazing but the riptide and French toad was my favorite! My first piece of advice: get here early!!! They have you sign in and wait. This place gets pretty crowded as they are only open for breakfast and lunch. I ordered the acai bowl and it was refreshing and delicious. Comes with blueberries in it and chewy pieces of pineapple. Topped with banana, granola, coconut and honey. It was such a treat. My husband had the dish called the tourist. It came with tender pork, eggs, and crispy herb potatoes. We also got a side of pancakes which were slightly sweet and didn't need much syrup. An outdoor cafe close to the Poipu resorts with ample parking. Expect a wait and try to follow their rules for seating and ordering. If you make it that far, you will likely really enjoy your meal. We really enjoyed the Kalua pork fried rice, one of the best meals we've had on the island. The steak burrito was also quite tasty, however would've enjoyed it more if the tortilla was seared on the outside for added texture and flavor.
