I switched from Planet Fitness to Anytime Fitness about three months ago and couldn't be happier. The staff and members are friendly, the classes are fantastic, and equipment is always available. I work with a trainer, Evita, who has been amazing at helping me strengthen my knees and reduce pain. I've also added Zumba with Natty and Kevin plus weight training twice a week and the results have been incredible--I feel great, have built muscle tone and have lost a few pounds. I choose to go here rather than country gym which is actually close to my home. Is nice and clean, equipment is in good shape. The membership fee could be a bit lower but it's health vs money. I did use their trainer for a while and would highly recommend them. read more

Didn't actually go inside seeing that I had a 7 day guess pass and the gym itself didn't honor it. All doors were locked and you can't even get inside the gym without being a member so it doesn't even make sense that they offer a guess pass. After waiting for 5 minutes in the rain , the "staff" who were all working out finally let me inside. Showed them the guess pass which I obtained from yelp and they directed me to another paid membership page where it said that guess passes worked for all workouts. At this point I thought I would surely get in but the staff was super stubborn and insisted that the pass only works for classes. Note: They Are Super Stingy With Guess Passes! The guy working there was either a bigot or someone who wanted less customers so that he could workout all day with the other staff members. Completely ridiculous - if they treat all their potential paying customers like this, good luck staying afloat. Better yet, just close and give your current customers the ability to go to a better gym. read more

I don't understand the negative reviews. Never judge a book by its cover. If you are looking for a steam shower, on-site carrot and kale juicer, and a fully staffed childcare room, this isn't that kind of place. I've been a member at many of these types of places...gave them my money, kept going, and kept my 40 extra pounds. If you want a place to work out where you feel like part of the neighborhood, a place that isn't stuffy or judgmental, with all kinds of members just trying to be healthier, with motivational challenge programs that will help you reach your goals and PHENOMENAL trainers that will hold you accountable and give you real strategies that WORK...come to Anytime in Germantown. Nothing else worked for me. Not Medifast, Whole 30, or eight rounds of 21-Day Fix (all of which I did with religious enthusiasm). Not the fancy gyms. Nothing. Until a friend of mine who was a member at this tiny, local gym started working with a trainer there and lost a lot of weight and (more importantly) looked strong. I decided to give it a try, not expecting much. I lost 30 pounds in 10 weeks and have kept it off for 2 years now. And I have muscles...those shoulder muscles that the girls in the Athleta catalog have and I always wanted. This place is no joke. The management is horrible！！I canceled my membership on June 2020.But recently I notice that my membership was activated on January 1,2021 without any notification！And I have been charging .So I went to the gym and they told me that my membership was just freezed not canceled.But I'm pretty sure that I asked the staff to cancel my membership.They did not check about it and refuse to refund.BTW they never sent me any emails when they freezed or canceled my membership！ read more

I joined this gym with my husband, and then unfortunately we moved to Bethesda area and have a gym in our building. Only members for a few months, and barely went. The machines are pretty standard. No showers. The classes are extra. Their "fitness assessment" is a gimmick, and the people doing them are disinterested and don't seem very knowledgeable. It took them 2 months after I was at the gym to even schedule a fitness assessment and then explained that the person assigned to me didn't follow up because she is too popular and it made sense that she forgot about me. When I went to cancel, I was accosted in every way possible to keep my membership or expand on it so that I'd "want to come" and was told POINT BLANK: "You can't do this on your own." I never once felt welcome there. Do not join this gym. They don't care about you as a person. They are not professional or polite. The culture perpetuated there is not friendly. They don't offer anything truly special. Other gyms would be better worth your money. read more

This gym is great! The staff is friendly and helpful, the personal trainers are top notch and the atmosphere is relaxed. If you want to get a great workout, and be around a diverse group of people this is the gym for you. I am a anytime member so I can go to ANY anytime at any time I want with my little keyfob. How cool is that? If that's not a reason to join then maybe because its only $29/month for a year contract or $34/month to month. This anytime fitness is a more female friendly one. They do the classes but it cost $10/session or $10/month for members. They have your typical dumbells, smith machine, pull up bar, ellipticals, treadmills, bikes. This particular anytime has towel service which is awesome considering the price per month. read more

Joining ATF Germantown was one of the best decisions I ever made! I have been a member for almost 5 years now and after 42 years of dreading exercise, I now can't go more than a day without it! The owner is my personal trainer and never gave up on me even when I was at my most resistant. He truly cares about each of his clients and motivates them to reach their personal goals. I lost 25 pounds during a 10 week slim down challenge and have kept it off for 3 years. I am stronger and feel better than I did when I was in my 20's. If you want a fancy gym with bells and whistles, this is not the place for you. BUT if you want a caring, friendly place to reach your goals you can't go wrong here! read more

I've been a member of this gym pretty much since it opened. It offers everything you need for your workout in a clean, convenient, and safe place. This gym is a special place, not because it's fancy (it's not) but because it has heart. Sounds like a weird thing to say about a gym, but it's true. Those who own and work at this facility actually care about its members. They work hard to provide an environment in which everyone feels comfortable, no matter what their fitness ability. This review is late in coming, but this gym is pretty terrific. Due to my chronic pain issues I ended up going with a big box gym with more facilities (read: sauna/whirlpool where I can fast-track myself to the geriatric population) , but I really enjoyed the several weeks last Aug/Sept I tried out this place. Sure, it's small, but as my people say, "A sparrow's small, but it's got all the vital organs." Con: No showers. Pros: All the equipment you need if you're a casual gym-goer like me. Cardio (incl. cycling room), stacked machines, Smith machine, free weights, etc. Basic but well-maintained. Great instructional staff. Susie, the personal trainer who worked with me, was absolutely fantastic - really friendly and helpful, focused on proper alignment, no sales tactics. I forgot the name of the instructor for their Pilates class, but she was fantastic as well - one of the very few Pilates instructors who've ever consistently given me modifications for my effed-up neck. I also tried out a Zumba class and I recall it was pretty interesting, for Zumba. 24-hour use of their site. Useful if you keep irregular hours and/or are an insomniac. Since they have a studio with mirrors you can totally use the space to practice your kpop dance moves, hypothetically. Friendly neighborhood vibe. I saw the owner and the trainers interact with the regulars, and that's not really something you experience at the big box gyms, where you're lucky if you get a rote "hello" and "bye" from the kid at the front desk. read more

Horrible experience with a trainer that was outside chatting w/ three people. Not sure if they were gym members or friends. Crossed the parking lot to pickup food from Paisanos. He was loud saying that instead of going there I should be going here (ATF). The other cracking up laughing. So terrible. I waited and finally called the gym to complain about the trainer. The manager was telling me he didn't mean harm that he is so fitness conscious that he wanted me to go to the gym. I felt like I was in high school passing the hallway full of bullies. Then she had the nerve to want me to join. Kept on saying I know who he is and he is a very good trainer. Lady, he must be a very good trainer but that image right there is way wrong for the gym. There was no concern. He was mocking me for the fact that I guess in his eyes I was stuffing my face w/ bad food when I should be going to the gym. Your gym. I highly recommend ATF Germantown! I joined two years ago in an effort to lose college weight and prepare for my wedding. I lost 21 pounds in 10 weeks soon after I joined and it is still off to this day! I also put on muscle creating that self-confident toned look. Very clean and orderly! I am traveling for a few weeks and am working out at this location. It's super clean and there always seem to be at least 2 people with trainers when I go before lunch. The place is small and cardio is limited to the 4 treadmills, 4 ellipticals, and 2 bikes in the main room. There is a room with bikes for virtual spinning classes, and 2 nearly empty studios for classes. Met the owner - very nice and helpful with the equipment; seems to know what he is doing. Only wish is that they had more variety for cardio, like a stair climber or lateral elliptical. read more

Plus he has a great challenge class on Saturday's that takes you way out of your box. Evita, another great trainer and person inside and out! I have been in the fitness field for over 30 years, been teaching and training and this is my favorite gym hands down. It has what you need. If you know how to work out you do not need alot!
