He has a Black Card, which allows members to bring guests, so whenever we go together, I ask to go here. A simple reliable planet fitness gym. This location has easy parking and is large and well spaced out. During peak busy times it's packed but if you go on non peak hours it's great. The staff here are helpful and friendly. Check in is easy with your phone number. Machines and weights are clean and organized. Equipment options are more on the basic side but they have enough weight machines and free weights and cardio machines to get a decent workout done. You get what you pay for and this place is an excellent value for the price. Bathroom/locket room areas are usually well kept and clean. 24/7 open hours which is great if you're a night owl. EDIT: Removed a star from 2. Was told that until he physically assaults someone they will do nothing because making multiple women *feel* unsafe is not enough. That is just so wrong. I used to love it here. Leaving a review to warn women. There is a dude in this gym who wears sunglasses and just walks around and stares at women. He must think the glasses disguise the staring but they just make it creepier. Typically he is there during the busiest hours (week nights after your average work hours). He will briefly stop and do something to look like he is in the gym for a reason but then just makes his rounds, walking circles around the gym, creeping on women behind his glasses. He's not even subtle. I've had enough, finally said something to the staff after mulling it over for weeks. ("Am I crazy? Am I being too vigilant?") That's when I learned that multiple other women have complained...but no one has done anything? Just weird, weird vibes, it is unnerving. I'm totally creeped out. I'll edit my review once something actually happens but if numerous women have felt the same way and alerted the front desk before I did, then it is a known problem by now. They will rip you off! They have been illegally charging a second person to my account. I have asked for help and the manager did nothing. Told me he would look at it. When I stopped him and asked what was going on instead of clearing up this simple matter he scolded me for sticking up for myself. I told him we were going to court because there was no way they had a signature for my daughter who is special needs. It took him 7 months to not tell me then to tell me I could leave the gym. I told him to cancel my account. Then he called my home to tell me I was being banned from Germantown and all Planet Fitness's. All the summer accounts for kids under 18 will close and then some how restart 6 mo to a year later. Also they got rid of most of the good equipment so it was getting harder to go in. This PF location has probably seen better days. For starters, it's very gloomy and dark inside, and it's not very big. Sometimes these gyms move into open/leaseable locations that don't really fit what their intentions are, and that's what this particular location seems to have done. This location could definitely use some TLC. CONS: -drips from the ceiling -dirty (machines are not cleaned often, there is usually trash throughout the machines/gym -staff isn't that friendly -poorly maintained (equipment and just the gym overall) -the gym matting covers up odd grooves and holes in the floor, but lots of it is bubbled, so if you're not careful you could get hurt -dingy/kind of humid/mildew scent throughout -odd setup -poor choice of paper towels used to wipe down machines (I know, but hear me out - they don't absorb well, so there are constantly drips of "cleaning solution" all over the floor, especially near the cleaning stations). I love how they recently remodeled the spa area. The lights are dim and there is a mini lounge area with leather chairs and a flat screen tv, the 2 massage chairs have their own little den with a flat screen tv. They always leave a remote out, which is nice. Then there are three total body enhancers, tanning beds and hydro massage beds. In terms of the workout space, they have a nice separate space for plyometrics. I like how the circuit area is in the back corner, yet not entirely in a different room so that staff can still monitor that people are rotating as the space is designated to do. This gym is one of the few that have a rowing machine. They also have an upper body ergo meter , and seated stepper for those that can't be weight bearing. The only thing that I would recommend is that they get handicapped accessible doors. read more

A friend of mine invited me to go to this gym. First visit to this fitness center and will be my last. Parking was a mess, then going inside and seeing it makes you feel very claustrophobic and cramped. Space is extremely limited as all of the equipment and treadmill machines, ellipticals are right next to each other. I understand they want to put as much as possible in a smaller space, but no elbow room at all between you and the other person. Even at the free weight and strength training sections, no space to move freely trying to lift the weights because they are so close to one another! Another odd/weird thing is the locker room. Just a tiny enclosed space of small lockers and a couple of narrow benches?! Come on! Comparing it to Lifetime or Onelife, there's no comparison at all. Hands down, the worst gym I've ever been to over the last 27 years. The staff is great and the facility is clean, but the people at this location have zero inclination of gym etiquette. It's almost impossible to make it through an entire workout without having to wait for some selfish person using 2 machines at once. They sit their water bottles on multiple machines to keep anyone else from using them. The other day during the busiest time I saw someone with every free-weight from 25 to 45 stacked on a bench that they weren't even using. No one can use more than one thing at at time, it's just selfish. Don't come here if you're serious about working out. The social media rep's subsequent reply/marketing message to my comment has confirmed my suspicion that planet fitness values quantity over quality. They advertise as an inclusive environment for everyone but fail to delivery as a quality gym for those serious about working. They could be recognized as a legitimate fitness center if they simply expected basic human courtesies from their members instead of promoting the worst behaviors in our society like hogging resources so no one else can use them. I'm not sure if I like this PF? It had an old vibe and it was tight. The stair master was dirty and needed a tune up. I tried another one , but it wasn't any better than the first. The staff spends a lot of time on their phones and not enough surveying the gym because not all gym members wipe down their equipment after each use. While the gym does a good job at separating machines so that members can be socially distant, has a user friendly app which has a crowd meter so they don't exceed 80 people in the gym at one time, and doesn't let members use the showers/lockers to avoid crowding, they don't do much else on the gym floor besides empty the occasional trash cans. The only rule that is strictly enforced is the mask wearing policy for all staff and members which everyone complies with for the most part/when the staff is doing their hourly rounds in. Not a bad gym to go to during this pandemic but would certainly not risk it if you're immunocompromised. read more

I have been a member of this particular "club" for a few years, since moving to Germantown a number of years ago, and have been a member of the brand in other locations for well over a decade. I have seen this location change for the better as it seems new management has taken a hands on roll. As previous posters have suggested, the staff at this location have had the appearance of being just bodies to fill a position. Now, today, the staff is incredibly friendly. Management seems to have taken the "it's only 10 dollars, what do you expect" mentality out of the equation, and this location is finally being ran the way you would expect any business to be ran. Professional, courteously, cleanly and with Pride & integrity. There is absolutely NO lackadaisical approach to being proactive in the cleanliness and training of the locations associates. Personally, I do not demand anything from anyone. I don't care about people avoiding eye contact with me, and I could care less about someones negative attitude as I do NOT allow it to affect my being. With this said, I can not compliment the new attitude of the front desk. The training definitely comes across as deliberate and this is amazing. Every associate in this location is extraordinary and constantly moving making this location have a feel of a much more expensive "club". My home gym. I've been working out here for many years. Pros: (1) it has all of the equipment of rival fitness centers and most amenities from the rival big gyms. Furthermore, it has tanning, massage chairs, hydromassage and "red light total body enhancement." (2) the staff is always super friendly and goes out of their way to assist you. Cons: (1) it is not spacious and at peak hours, it can be very cramped. (2) as any PF it doesn't have free weights to do chest press and dumbbells only go up to 60 lbs. read more

I feel like the reviews here are an example of how people who have a bad experience are more likely to review, whereas people who are fine with it are silent. I am an avid runner, having just ran my first full marathon. I normally always run outside in any weather but was looking for easy and cheap access to a treadmill in the winter months when it's dark early or when snow and ice prevents me from running in my neighborhood. I signed up for this PF worried I'd experience the same thing as the posters here, and that it would be hard to cancel. Although I can't speak about cancelling (yet), I went here for the first time today and my experience was just fine. The woman at the front desk was kind and friendly. She explained how I can go about getting a tour, and the classes and training they have on their calendar. She also told me how to use a locker and that I need to bring/buy my own lock (pretty common for gyms). She gave me my key fob and I lost it after my workout and she happily gave me a new one. I went at 5:30pm-ish so yea, I mean, it's busy when everyone gets off work. That shouldn't be a shocker to anyone lol If you want to workout alone, workout at home, workout outside, or come in the middle of the night or very early AM. There were plenty of treadmills to accommodate everyone, everyone seemed content, there was a lot of diversity, and the staff seemed friendly. Dunno what else you can ask for! read more

I have been a member of this gym for going on 5 years. I have said much about this specific PF (I have worked out in over 60 the past year and a half). I feel at home at this gym. I see the regulars, know the staff and it's comfortable because of my time there. That said, its gotten way too crowded. The place looks run down. The staff turnover is higher than a properly run business should be (not sure why, many health clubs have the same issue), you can always count on a few pieces of equipment being down and the bathrooms to resemble war zones. For what you pay, access to training classes, the overall friendliness of the staff and the variety of equipment, what is there really to complain about? It's a solid 3 star gym. read more

I recently moved here and I was unaware that I joined a specific Planet Fitness. I went to work out and was told I could not and that I could not join until sign up in December. The staff member that told me that must have let management know. I got a call from Dustin and Randolph, inviting me back to discuss membership. They worked the system and got me in. Every time I go, which is about 5 days a week, I am always greeted by the friendly staff. They are constantly working on keeping the place very clean. I have thanked team members for the upkeep and they are always thankful that I mention their hard work. I was talking to agm, Randolph, one morning and he was eager to tell me about the plans for expansion. He has been there 2 years and is very happy with the company. "No, since your just a guest you are limited.." Let me tell you... they lost two customers tonight... well, with 3 stars I am not the only one with a negative experience ... I am not surprised. This is my experience below after my two visits TOO MANY! I take that back they lost more than 2 customers... I will tell all my friends on the military base not to go to this place, and reviews say EVERYTHING! I will never go back as a guest or buy a membership... I am prior active duty for 8 years in, and I'm sticking with military gyms. This gym is a gimmick wack job with this, "no judgment" BS... everyone judged me in there. The military gyms care about your lifestyle- not this place. They said as a guest I couldn't use the water massaging machines as well.. when I went as a guest elsewhere, I was allowed.. want to know why? There is black mold on the shower curtains -staff at night was confrontational and unhelpful. Admitted they "only worked one day a week" and didn't know membership packages. This is THE WORST Planet Fitness my husband and I have been to. The place is all around dirty especially the bathrooms. Every single stall in the womens bathroom had pee all over the seats and my husband said the mens bathroom was the same story. One of the trainers told my husband he was "in his way" while he was in the middle of a workout. Staff was very rude and when they refused to recognize our black card membership to just get 1/2 off of our water we wanted to buy that was the last straw, we just left in the middle of our workout. This gym is perfect for those who want a no hassle workout with cardio equipment, free weights and plenty of brand new weight machines. The staff is friendly and nice. I especially like dealing with Delila because she is always cheerful and ready to help quickly with any requests. The bathrooms are always clean and the members seem to always wipe down their machines after use as the signs request of the members. There is nothing better than having a gym open all hours so you never have to worry about the gym closing while you're trying to get in a late evening workout or waiting for the gym to open early in the morning (you don't have that problem here). I first learned about the gym from several friends who signed up. I was very curious. I never really been to many gyms other than simple hotel gyms, college gym and seen the very expensive gyms (Healthrax, WSC). But my friend got free guest passes and offered to take me there. I went here three times using the guest passes and finally decided to join PF (about 3 weeks ago). Since then I've really enjoyed the gyms environment. Great music even if you forget your iPod! The TVs are great because they distract you from looking at the time left on the machine your working out on. Another great thing are that the machines (elliptical, treadmill) include iPod/iPhone chargers. I love their no judgement policy and the lunk rule. Haven't had any experience with trainers yet but it is offered free with membership! *About the Grunting* Some people do grunt but it is not EXTREME. Everyone grunts a little when they are pushing themselves to work out harder! Staff is only worried about those who are EXTREME grunters. *About the Staff* They are quite young. Don't judge off of one reviewer. My experience with them is always pleasant. I'm fairly new, but I've gotten exactly what I expected to. This is an exercise/fitness gym, not a professional bodybuilding gym. For $10/month I have access to a good selection of cardio machines, weight machines/towers, and free weights. It's clean, and very few of the machines have been out of order, but with the number of machines they have it's hardly a problem if there are. The trainer has been friendly and helpful, and I feel I'm on a routine that's going to help me meet my fitness goals. Honestly, it seems like a great place to start your fitness journey.
