We were seated right way. We were asked for our drink order soon after being seated. And once our table was full, our dinner order was taken. Over all the service was okay. English was not the server's first language so it was difficult to communicate certain things to her. The server wasn't very pleasant either... A smile would have gone a long way. The food was delicious. The steaks were made just right. Our chef was entertaining and nice to the kids at the table. One complaint... We ordered a sushi roll that never came. So we had to order it again. Also, they advertise half off on Sushi on Sundays. I don't like that you have to order 2 drinks to get half off though. I must have missed the small print. Due to the food and chef, I gave them 4 stars. If Yelp allowed half stars... I would have rated them 3.5 stars.

Lunch Special Spicy Salmon Roll and California Roll with Miso Soup and House Salad.

Overall I give 3/5. The spicy salmon roll and house salad were good. The miso soup was okay. The California roll was not good unfortunately. The crab smelled of a mold odor so I picked it out of each roll and just ate the cucumber and avocado. I was also extremely disappointed they gave packets of soy sauce which do not taste like real soy sauce in my opinion.

    Happy birthday!

This was a last minute decision to go here for my husbands birthday dinner. We were VERY happy with our decision. The food was great and prices were right on. Our hibachi chef was very entertaining our kids loved it. They came out with a firework and Ice-cream and sang happy birthday. It was so fun! They also took a picture of all of us and gave us one to take home. We will definitely be coming back!

Reliable sushi & hibachi at a reasonable price. For many years when I still lived in Darien, this was my family's go to place for nigiri offerings. We've enjoyed their hibachi setup and have celebrated a birthday or two, so Aodake holds a place near and dear to our hearts. Thankfully, not much has changed since I did the whole college & move-away thing. Still looks the same inside, quality's still as good as ever, and that one server (I think her name is 'Jane') is still here. In a world that's constantly shifting its views and tectonic plates, it's nice to see that some things never change. Ya feel me? Most recently I met Danny M here for lunch on a Saturday and we wound up being their first customers of the day. This meant we got seated and received service immediately. The sushi took a while to prepare, but when the custom platter made its way out to us the fasting had ended and the feasting began. The rainbow roll was your standard California roll topped with fresh sashimi (yellowtail, fatty tuna, albacore). The 'Alaska' roll was salmon, cucumber and avocado, a worthwhile choice. The 'futomaki' was the biggest gamble (pickled vegetables, crabstick, seasoning), and I wound up not much caring for it. Aodake uses cute little plates with their own logo on it, which I gotta figure is the same at their Romeoville location on Weber Rd. The interior doesn't quite have the feng shui that Benihana makes use of, but Aodake is a much more family-friendly establishment. The cooks at the hibachi grills have a great sense of humor and terrific showmanship. Now I'm all for getting a refill topped off, but there comes a point when it gets a little ridiculous. In this case, it was hot green tea that was getting replenished every 3 minutes. Not even joking, I'd take a sip, maybe two, and someone came hustling over to pour. Attentiveness is good and everything, but hastiness is, well, a little irksome. .....especially when you've achieved the perfect balance of temperature and artificial sweetener in your tea. Occasionally they'd ask and I'd politely decline, yet sure enough a few minutes would elapse and they'd return. I felt bad because it probably gets boring early in the day, but it became bothersome having to say 'no, nope, no thanks, I'm good' a hundred freaking times throughout my meal. Bread = 4.5 Circuses = 3.5 Your sushi choices in Darien are limited, so while I can't say they feature the best, Aodake certainly is one of the most dependable. I highly recommend the hibachi experience, as sharing a table with friends -- and oftentimes strangers -- can be loads of fun. Domo arigato gozaimashita!

Hi guys, Karen here. A list of 10 things I HATED about this place.... 1. We waited a hour to sit down at the table when NO ONE was even in there 2. They served me ONE glass of water the whole 2.5 hours I was there 3. I got 1 carrot, 2 pieces of broccoli, and 14 onions for my veggie portion 4. The salad had dog vomit for dressing 5. They gave me only FOUR grains of rice 6. They threw the menus, forks, and chopsticks at us like we were objects 7. My steak was 1/2 FAT. DISGUSTING 8. The chef was non-verbal and NOT entertaining 9. The hostess was cruel. She screamed at us and proceeded to tell my girls where they can and cant sit at the table. 10. The table smelt like piss. 11. The grill was not cleaned from the people that ate before us. 12. They stole MY CREDIT CARD 13. TO TOP IT ALL OFF THERE WAS A PEICE OF PLASTIC IN THE "boneless" CHICKEN. I told the chef and he proceed to laugh after I told him I almost CHOKED on it and the rude hostess told me the meal would then be free but when she gave me the check nothing was taken off!

I am a fan of hibachi style restaurants. I love the freshly cooked food, I love the show they perform in front of you, and I love the Saki shots. This spot goes down as one of my favorites. The hosts and chefs are extremely nice. It's not a big place at all if you're comparing it to a Benihana and it's located inside a strip mall. The food here is always fresh and good. I had the hibachi chicken and golden shrimp and I am never disappointed. The price point is pretty good too. The drinks are a bit weak though and can use some more alcohol. I had the Mai Tai and there was absolutely no alcohol in it and for $8 I do expect to taste and feel something, so that is why I took a star off. They do take reservations and I try to make them, but I am sure accommodating a walk in would not be an issue because the times I have come it was never busy, even on Christmas Eve. I will be back and would recommend it to anyone in the Western burbs looking for hibachi.

Hibachi style cooking. Steak, chicken, shrimp.

Food is typical for hibachi if that's your thing. I mean, if you've chosen this place, that's what you'd want. Sushi is meh. Not bad. Not great. I've had better from Mariano's. Expensive but you get your show.

    Rita B.

Very impressed by the sushi but the hibachi was just alright. Had gyozas, one tempura prawn sushi, one steak hibachi and one calamari hibachi. Total price was $86. Gyozas and sushi were great. Calamari hibachi was too sweet and steak hibachi was overcooked.

Good lunch specials. Miso soup was well flavored. Fresh ginger with the rolls. I enjoyed the 3-roll lunch meal.

Small place in Home Depot mall, food is very good and service too. Best to make reservations so they can plan the seating at the grills.

OK, I guess I'm the contrarian in the bunch. I'm the only person who is not giving this place one…read moreor two stars... I've been here several times now, each with a $10 off $35 coupon. That makes groceries here effectively super cheap. The selection isn't as big as Mariano's or Whole Foods, but it's not too bad either. Also, they have quite a bit in the way of packaged dry goods, and a small deli section and prepared food section as well. The customer service is mixed. My wife thinks it's pretty good, but I think that a lot of the staff are clearly untrained, and there was very much a "not my department" sort of mentality when I had questions. However, everybody who helped us was super friendly. So I think will come back if we need to grab the one off item. I almost want to support Mariano's, but it's not like they are a small locally owned family run grocery store either. They're also part of a large publicly traded company. So... The organic options are quite limited, so if you're looking for that sort of thing Whole Foods is probably your best bet. There's a cute little alcohol aisle as well, where you need to show your ID to even be admitted into it, pretty cool. Finally, one small hiccup we had was that we were overcharged for items. We grabbed four boxes of spinach to check the expiration date, and ended up putting three of them back. However, we were charged for all four! That would usually be a star or two off, but Amazon makes disputing these sorts of things on their app super easy, no questions asked. I almost wonder if somebody could abuse it. I think the sensor technology and all of the cameras and electronics aren't quite as sophisticated as the Amazon go store. At the end of the day, I'm not sure how competitive this place is compared to other stores. They're clearly doing quite a bit of customer acquisition, with the coupons and flyers that come in the mail. However, when the coupons expire later on, I think I would probably go somewhere else. One real benefit to this place is you don't have to interact with anyone. I guess there is self check out at most stores too, but you also don't have to go through that process because you just walk out of the store as if you're stealing everything you purchased.

I used AMAZON FRESH for the very first time and the experience was great. I ordered, text them…read morethat I was on my way and indicated that I wanted no substitutions for the products I chose. We drove into the assigned parking place and within minutes a gentleman came out and placed my items into my trunk. I think I'll do it again. Try it.
