WOW! I literally pass this place up so much. And to be completely honest I judged it a lot by the look of it outside. I'm a fool. I've wasted so much time where I could enjoy this place more. But, I know about it now and will try to make up for lost time. Definitely not a looker at all. But man the food is some of the best I have HAD. Carnitas plate was definitely the best I've had. It was so good. The portion was great and I still was looking for more. The prices you cannot complain about. Especially when it's backed by such quality. Definitely will be back and please. Do not do what I did. Don't waste time driving by. Go and enjoy as much as you can. Thanks y'all. read more

Great breakfast! Try the menudo, nopalitos and egg taco and the machacado. Chorizo and egg and Barbados are great too. Homemade tortillas

Ordered 2 tacos a bean and cheese and a Barbacoa taco. Bean and cheese tacos had a funny taste and taste like canned beans and they were runny. There's was more cheese than beans after they ran off the tortilla after trying to eat it. Just like Barbacoa taco it was the most greasiest taco I had. The bag in which they came in was soaked and leaked in the car. Never will I go back. read more

dont eat here this place its nasty!!!!! when i show my waitress she told me she was gonna talk to the owner to see "if" they could replace my plate? 15 min later she came back to my table pretty much saying the owner thought i was lying!! poor quality service.we had to wait a good 30 minutes before someone noticed us and the restaurant was practically empty at that time . the food was mediocre too.never recommending this to anybody. read more

Not to be mean but the outside is not much to look at. We are here to talk about the food though so here we go. Started with an al pastor taco (marinated pork meat) came with cilantro and onions. Not the best I have had but not the worst, it was a solid taco. Next was the Texas plate, 2 enchiladas rice and beans with beef pieces in gravy. I was a little sad the enchiladas were not in red tortillas which is what I am used to but the plate was good. The enchiladas were good even though I was already biased because they weren't red. The waitress as very attentive and kept our coffees full. The restaurant was not full what so ever so not sure how good the service will be when busy. Located on pontranco and military, it would be a good place to eat if your in the area and hungry. read more

We are visiting from Fort Worth and were looking for authentic Tex-Mex here in San Antonio. We found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. The outside isn't impressive which gave us an idea the food must be good. We were not disappointed. The menu was diverse and the waitress was helpful in giving recommendations. Had breakfast tacos there this morning. I had the papas ranchera on a flour tortilla. Very good and INEXPENSIVE. Only thing keeping them from 5 stars is it was smokey from the grill. They have lots of fans around so I have a feeling this is a regular occurrence. I will try it again though and see how it is. read more

What's getting them the poor review is their customer service and the fact that our food was microwaved. First of all, if you are going to talk mess in front of us it's best you make sure we don't understand Spanish. Second it took nearly 15-20 minutes to get out food (it was to go) and when we did it had been in the microwave so long the styrofoam was melted, the meat was little black balls of char, and the nuggets were solid as rocks. So discriminatory, something I don't have to worry about when I'm with my obviously Hispanic friends. read more

All 5 sisters, including my wife, got together for their monthly "breakfast club" gathering. This makes for a group of 10 adults. The sisters take turns picking the restaurant & one of the sisters picked this place. After checking out the reviews, I had my doubts about the place but... Service was quick & our waitress was good. Their coffee was pretty good. My wife ordered their oatmeal & I ordered 2 barbacoa tacos. The tacos were huge but the barbacoa was greasy & full of fat. Very disappointing. Someone had previously wrote a review with a video of a roach crawling around the place. After we had all paid our tabs & were getting ready to walk out, the was a small roach running around the table we were standing next to. This really grossed everyone out. No plans on ever coming back but a lesson learned... Believe what you read in other people's reviews. read more

All is fresh. Fresh flour and corn tortillas. Fresh and delicious tacos. Great lunch plates as well. Today we had the Migas Special, a chorizo and egg taco, and a Caldo de Res(Beef soup ). Coffee was great, service was excellent, food was very good. Soup not the best but the rest was great. Other customers' plates looked great. We'll be back. Tomorrow. Give it a try. Me and my family went to this restaurant today for breakfast tacos as we do almost everyday the woman at the drive through as well as Who I believe to be the manager a older Hispanic man were extremely RACIST!!!! I went in with intent to have my order remade and they basically told me that it was my fault for not understanding what was stated back to me when I ordered. I politely ask for a credit 1st after 10 mins she came back and told me next time if I don't understand to ask for someone else the whole interaction was super weird and every employee in there lauded and told me and my wife we were trying to get free food we will NEVER step foot in this establishment again And you all should be ashamed we had our 6 year daughter with us and she wants to know what was so funny ???? read more

I come for tacos here at least once if not twice a week. I am not a huge fan of their drive thru with gravel and dusty. At night its really dark. The tacos, mexican plates or caldo de rez is always on point and delicious. read more

Food was fresh but lacked that ummph. Of flavor. Could have used more Chile con Carne sauce. Enchiladas were hot but tasted only cheese and tortilla. Beans were a little bland. Rice was flavorful as was the taco which I ended up breaking half of it to try to gain a little flavor as I spread it over my enchiladas. Got my plate and waitress seemed to disappear as I never came back to my table the whole time I ate. As I was the only patron when I arrived. However the food wasn't bad but it wasn't memorable either. Sort of like when you want a steak but settled for a sandwich. I will give it a second chance but probably only for breakfast. This is my boyfriend and I's favorite spot in town! It seems to be a family-owned and run restaurant. It is very quaint and designed with absolutely adorable Mexican art and pretty plants. The place is vibrant, with yellow and orange walls it gives a bright and welcoming vibe. Every time we come here, no matter what day of the week, we always have the same waitress. She is ALWAYS smiling ans giggling - but she doesn't speak a lick of English! She takes awesome care of us every time we come here and we're always greeted with a big smile and a very cute "YAY!" from her when we walk in the door. The prices are amazing for the authentic and fresh taste we recieve every single time we come here - we are never disappointed. They make sure you are fed too! With huge plates I always have some to take home! The chips and salsa starter is my favorite in town, real authentic tortilla chips seasoned to perfection and a lovely red salsa that complements the chips so well. I highly recommend this place!!! Edit: After reading other reviews, some said they have seen roaches in their visit to El Rodeo. I have been to El Rodeo several times - more than 10 - and have never seen a roach. There are flies every now and then, but the service and food are so good and Texas is ridden with so many bugs that it is easily forgivable. Perhaps the issue was taken care of since those reviews were written! read more

Great food and discounts for military and police. Atmosphere is nice, including a cool little spot for outdoor dining. Prices are reasonable and the food never takes long to be served. Service in general is better than expected. I'd say the only negative is that it doesn't stay open long enough for dinner. read more

Woke up wanting early morning breakfast tacos. Decided to give this place a try. Was not disappointed. The pancakes were ok and the bacon a little crunchier than I like, but those were just side items. The real reason I visited was to try some breakfast tacos. When it comes to Jaliscos, usually it's "If you've been to one Jalisco, you've been to this one too." That's true, for the most part, for this place as well. The menu looked identical to the one off Culebra and Piper's, and one of the paintings on the wall looked familiar too. That being said, although it looks a little rough on the outside it's pretty clean on the inside. The food is also good. I had the cheese enchiladas and when I finished it I didn't get that normal gross and disgusted feeling you can get from some of the other Jaliscos (that pretty much lasts all day, I might add). The only thing I didn't like was the salsa that came with the complementary tortilla chips. I'd recommend using the salsa they give you with the meal. Both the red and green were really good. I have never stopped by this place to eat, but i decided to stop for a bean and cheese taco w/ avocado. I get home open my taco and it is the messiest taco ever. First of all I must warn everyone to watch what they charge you. I've been coming since they opened. However not so much anymore. I've caught them overcharging me 3 times. I always come here, they've messed up on my order a few times but I didn't let it be to the point where I leave a bad review. Because it could've just been an honest mistake you know? Me and my parents ordered 6 bean and cheese WITH chorizo. just right now, we got home and found out there was no beans. It tasted odd too, because I've ordered it before and I know how it should taste. It's to the point where I think I'll have to check them myself after leaving the drive thru . But honestly I should'nt even have to, they should always be correct. I even tipped the lady because I know they must not have a lot of business because of the virus going around. I was going to call to tell them about it and ask for store credit because it was just all wrong. But I'd rather have the people aware that this happens. And it happens ALMOST all the time. This place is my favorite quick stop. They do get pretty busy, but with a little patience it's all worth it. The food is excellent and the staff very friendly and attentive. Susan is my usual go to on the wait staff and always provides a great dining experience. Came to this restaurant on two separate occasions for breakfast tacos. The first time I order two bean and cheese with bacon from the to go line and when I got to work I noticed one was bean and cheese with bacon and the other was bean and bacon. Who forgets the cheese in a bean and cheese idk but they did. So I said know what simple mistake but the second I order two bean and cheese with bacon but also got chorizo and egg. This time when I got to my car I checked and they gave me a bacon and egg instead of a chorizo and egg. So check your food before you leave or when you're in your car. Taco are average but it's pretty hard to mess up basic tacos but getting the right order is where they shine. read more
